Serviceman introduced himself, was very professional and pleasant. Brought in and placed floor covers from the door to the fireplace, covered the hearth, and used shoe covers as well. Once setup he spent about 30 minutes cleaning the chimney, and entire service call took about 40 minutes. I had left ash in the fireplace from a fire a few weeks ago, he cleaned the ash as well as the chimney. Everything was spotless when he was done. He removed all the floor covers, placed the living room table back in its original location, then presented me with the service bill and self-addressed reminder card. Thought he did an excellent job, and I will use them for my next chimney cleaning.

easy to schedule an estimate. Since it was indoor work we waited for a rain day to have the work performed. Workers were very professional and had many years experience with fireplaces. They cleaned up after themselves. work was finished in 2 days. we will use them again to sweep the chimney.

These guys were great. Lots of chimney sweeps are individuals... so they work during the day and call you back at night. This is difficult for me. This place is a company with a scheduler that could give you a date, time and price with one call. Convenience. Arrived on time, did the work, answered questions and left everything clean and neat.

Ed arrived promptly, cared for the cleanliness of our home as he entered and exited, swept the chimney, and cleaned up afterward. He was very pleasant, respectful, and knowledgeable.

The interior work that included the installation of decorative tiles was very artful. It is gratifying to know that there are still artisans working in masonry. The exterior work needed to be done in accommodating weather and was completed at a different time from the interior work. All of the work was completed within two weeks, and all of the work was of high quality. I do not hesitate in recommending this company and will employ its services again.

He was very good. We were getting new carpets and I wanted it taken care of before the new carpet was in. They were accommodating about doing that and made it happen within a couple of days. They were just very good to work with. They did such a good job I wouldn’t have bothered even if we had the carpet in because he was so thorough and very careful about it.

Recently moved into a new home, and at the home inspection, found that the fireplace had a borken handle/rod on the existing fireplace rotary damper, and that the rear wall fo the fireplace firebox needed to be tuck pointed. It took awhile for the part - the rod to come in, and then it was just a matter of scheduling. They were on time, neat, quick and knowledgeable in doing the repairs. I would use them again.

They did what they said they would at a fair price. They were very professional, I was very happy with their work. I have recommended him to many people since then, and he always does a great job.

Went very well. Arrived on time. Went right to his tasks, installed the chimney fan. Checked fireplace, draw and provided instructions. After he left, the fan was not functioning. I called and he immeddiately came back. A wire had become loosened. He reattached the wire and the fan has been funcitiong well ever since.

I called the Company and was able to schedule an appointment about 3-4 weeks out due to their heavy backlog. The Company called to confirm the appointment a day or two before and arrived at the expected time on the day of the appointment. The inspector (Karl Mattes) was very professional, knowledgeable, was careful not to track any dirt into my home and has a great reputation in the industry. He completed the estimate and delivered as promised the following day. I ultimately decided not to move forward as the recommended repairs were outside of my budget.

They were on time and did an excellent job. The employees didn't say much. They just rang the bell, went up and cleaned it then rang the bell again to let me know they were done and that was about it. The price was probably a little bit high.

After 3 attempts to get an estimate, I never really did get one. I was getting competitive bids on restoring box gutters, repair of replacement of part of my roof and replace flashing around a chimney. I waited 2 weeks for an estimate and it never came. I called the office and the person that answered the phone told me the estimator just wasn't very good about filing paperwork. Ugh. She told me he would go out and I would hear something in the next 2 days. Nothing. I called the office again and asked if I should just give up on them. She assured me an estimate would be coming soon. I received a call from Karl Mattes, and I would charitably call our conversation unpleasant. His estimate was 3 times as high as others I had recieved and he (more or less) suggested the house wasn't worh fixing. He only gave me a figure when I told him that I lived in the house and couldn't live there with water coming into the kitchen. I get it that he wanted to take a pass on the work. I would have respected that. My experience with Karl Mattes was just a big frustration.

For several years I have hired Mattes to take care of my chimney. Originally I had them come to give me a second opinion after a company recommended hundreds of dollars of repair work. They said my chimney needed no additional work. They are careful in cleaning the chimney not to get the house dirty. One time they cleaned, last year, the techinician did not do a proper job. I mentioned it to the company. They asked me who did the job and when and made an appointment with me to come out and clean the chimney a second time. The second time they did a thorough job, even going up on the roof. I was satisfied with the outcome and plan to hire them again.

The Mattes company came out to clean our chimney, which had not been done since we moved into our home 3 years ago. The technician was very punctual, very professional, and very careful to protect the surrounding area and keep it clean. He even had his own vaccuum to clean up when he was done. I also appreciated that he answered some questions for us about using and maintaining our fireplace, since we've never had one before. We also asked for an estimate for some tuckpointing and replacing part of the mantel - we weren't in a hurry for either, which we mentioned, but it was several weeks before we received it. However, I would have absolutely no qualms about hiring them to come out again.
