Great company! Everyone was friendly and helpful from the scheduling people to the guy who actually did the work. The sweep was right on time, was friendly, quick and efficient. He gave me good advise to keep my fireplace working properly.

We are very pleased with their work. In addition to the work they performed, they inspected our chimney and ventilation situation and gave us a good amount of advice. We plan on hiring them again.

I had excellent dealings with both the office staff and the man who cleaned the chimney. He was prompt and very polite. There was no mess left for me to clean up, and it appears he did a very good job. I would definitely use this company again.

I did not shop around on price. They came out quickly and did a good job. My only comment is that apparently there were some problems with my chimney and the one site representative was kind of condescending to me about it. I asked for a quote for the repairs. There was some confusion within the company, because I thought they were going to call me and they hadn't as of four days later. Then when I called they said I needed to schedule the appt. for the estimate. The very next day someone just showed up at my house to write up an estimate.

The service provider was a few minutes early for his appointment and got the work completed in a short time. From a service perspective, it was great. Because he was only in my home for 30 minutes or so, I expected the visit to cost a bit less.

He did a thorough job and gave lots of advice on how to use the fireplace, how sturdy it was, how to maintain it and how we might want to build it up for more frequent use in the future, if we chose.

Installer was on time, very polite and did an excellent job.

Excellent work from what I could tell. Very nice and took time to teach and inform regarding correct maintenance of our chimney. Also responsive and prompt.

From start to finish they were a good company to work with. Karl T. Mattes came to our house to analyze our job & mailed a proposal, just as he said he would. We bought the gas logs & the glass front door from Karl's company. He recommended a good plumbing company that installed the gas pipe work & the gas logs. Karl's company installed the glass front door. We are happy with the work.

We have used Karle Mattes Co. at both of our houses. They have addressed a variety of problems including shingles, drainage and chimneys. This project was on a newer house (4 years) and we have relied on Mattes to diagnose and repair our builder's errors.

Service rep called prior to coming out, and was on-time. Rep was very personable, polite, and considerate of the fact the hardwood floors were just refinished. No mess was left, and he took the time to show how to use the damper as it was the first time ever using the fireplace.

THESE GUYS WERE FABULOUS! THEY WERE ON TIME, COMPLETED THE WORK, MADE SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR MONEY SAVING ITEMS AND CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. THEY WERE EVEN TOLERANT OF OUR NEW PUPPY WHO IS A BIT RAMBUNCTIOUS!

THE REPRESENTATIVE WHO CAME OUT TO MY HOUSE WAS ON-TIME, PROFESSIONAL, AND LEFT THE ROOM LOOKING AS CLEAN AS WHEN HE STARTED WORK. I WISH I COULD REMEMBER THE TECHNICIAN'S NAME, INITIALS DEE. HE WAS POLITE AND FRIENDLY TO ME AS WELL AS MY TODDLER & DOGS! I WILL DEFINITELY CALL AGAIN WHEN THE CHIMNEY NEEDS CLEANED NEXT TIME.

THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WAS EXCELLENT. COST OF THE WORK WAS 1/3 OF MY 2ND BID, AND ONLY 1/2 OF MY 3RD BID. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM WITHOUT RESERVATION. I DEALT WITH KARL MATTES SENIOR, BUT EXPECT THAT ANY OF THEIR PEOPLE WOULD HAVE GIVEN EQUAL VALUE. I HAVE USED KARL MATTES FOR ROOFING WORK AS WELL AS FIREPLACE WORK SINCE MY INITIAL EXPERIENCE, AND HAVE BEEN SIMILARLY PLEASE WITH THEIR PERFORMANCE AND PRICES.

GENTLEMAN WHO CAME TO THE HOUSE HAS BEEN HERE IN THE PAST. VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL. UPON HIS VISIT HE DISCOVERED OTHER PROBLEMS. SAID HE WOULD BE OUT THE FIRST PART OF FOLLOWING WEEK OR POSSIBLY EVEN LATER THAT SAME DAY. CAME BACK SAME DAY, PERFORMED WORK AND COMPLETED PROJECT IN THE MOST PROFESSIONAL MANNER.

TECHNICIAN WAS CLEAN AND FRIENDLY AND ASSISTED WITH THE REMOVAL OF A FIREPLACE COVER. (NOT A PLANNED PART OF THE WORK.) WORK WAS QUICK AND EFFICIENT, AND PERFORMED INSIDE THE HOUSE AND ON THE ROOF.

EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND HELPFUL. INITIALLY THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE OUR DAMPER, BUT ONCE THEY GOT WORKING ON THE JOB, THEY DETERMINED IT WAS UNNECESSARY AND TOOK IT OFF THE QUOTE. THEY WERE EXTREMELY TIDY AND THE LIVING ROOM MAY HAVE BEEN CLEANER AFTER THEY LEFT THAN BEFORE THEY CAME ;-) THEY'RE A GREAT COMPANY AND I'D DEFINITELY DO BUSINESS W/THEM AGAIN.

KARL MATTES CAME OUT AND WAS VERY HONEST ABOUT OUR OPTIONS. HE TOLD US THAT WE HAD AN EXTREMELY NARROW FLUE AND FIREBOX AND, ALTHOUGH INSTALLING A SINGLE-FLAME GAS FIRE MAY BE POSSIBLE, HE REALLY DID NOT RECOMMEND IT. WE TOOK HIS ADVICE AND HAD HIS COMPANY CAP OUR CHIMNEY INSTEAD. HE SAVED US A LOT OF MONEY AND POTENTIAL GRIEF.

EXCELLENT SERVICE. MATTES WERE THE LOWER OF 2 QUOTES. I HAD USED THEM BEFORE FOR SMALL ROOF WORK AND THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT ME WITH THE LARGER TASK. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL, CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES EVERY DAY AND WERE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS I HAD. THE WORK WAS DONE ON TIME AND DONE WELL. WHEN THE GLASS THAT WAS ORDERED WAS DELIVERED DAMAGED, KARL QUICKLY REORDERED AND COMPLETED THE WORK. HE DID NOT ASK FOR ANY PAYMENT UNTIL THE WORK WAS COMPLETELY DONE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AND WILL CALL HIM AGAIN IF I HAVE ANY FUTURE NEED.

THE GENTLEMAN WAS VERY NICE. THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE AND HE DIDN'T TRY TO ADD ANY HIDDEN COST. HE WAS VERY HONEST, HE GAVE US GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING OUR FIREPLACE. HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND.
