Hyde Park Painting & Carpentry

Hyde park painting was quick to come to our home and give us an estimate. However, when they began painting our home and claimed to be finished, there were several spots that hadn't even gotten one coat of paint and we were supposed to have two coats of paint. I called to complain and a week later they sent out a different crew who worked hard all day to get the job done right. I was happy they corrected the problem but I did not appreciate that they tried to get away with not painting parts of our home that they thought we wouldn't notice. For this reason, I would not hire them in the future or recommend them to others.

The dry wall repair and wallpaer stripping, wall prep and painting usually had 3 men working. They were skilled, polite and cleaned up after the jobwas finished. A different team did the wallpapering and also left the room clean and tidy.

They did a very good job. They reliable and maintained a high standard of work. They were knowledgeable and skilled.

Response for a request for an estimate was timely. Painting crew showed up as agreed and worked over a 2-3 day period to complete the job. The painters were respectful of plantings around the foundation --- no damage. Any scraped paint was cleaned up. Gutter crew came at a later date to install the gutter. As long as I did not have to be there for the gutter part, I was not all that concerned about when that portion of the job got done. It was completed in a reasonable period of tme---I did not have to do any followup phone calls. Entire job was completed as agreed and I am pleased with the results.

9/28- emailed company to arrange for an estimate 9/29- email returned, arranged for estimate to be done on 10/2 10/2 -Steve arrived at scheduled time, work discussed. Committed to send an estimate via email by next day. 10/8- Called company to ask if estimate was sent as none had been received 10/9- received estimate via email as requested. While they may perform quality work the initial experience in getting an estimate when promised left me uncertain. I decided to go wwith another company who responded as they said they would. There may have been a reason the estimate was delayed but none was given.

They are courteous and the best people to work with all around. They are good at what they do, from items that are antiques to items that are new.

After being strung along by another painting company for over 10 months, I contacted Hyde Park Painting and Carpentry. The next day, I had a written estimate and start date from Hyde Park, which I accepted. The painting crew arrived on time, were professional and performed excellent work. I will use this company again, and have recommended them to others.

They were very efficient and helped us pick out our colors. They showed up on time and did good cleaning up. I would use their services again in the future.

I have used this company about eight years ago, and I am also pleased with their service and the quality of their work. They were very punctual and finished the painting job when they said they would. They were extremely professional.

I think they did a great job! I was on vacation while they did the job and we communicated well using cell phone while I was gone (issues like making sure all outdoor spigots were turned on for power washing). House looked great when I returned and they were quick to follow-up me to complete the work that required me to be home like the doors.

They were very prompt in providing a detailed estimate after calling them. They were very professional and polite on the phone and in person. We ended going to someone else for the painting job due cost, but they were good to work with.

It went very well without any hitches

We had a really great experience with HP Paining. They were the lowest estimate we received out of 3 very widely used painting companies in Hyde Park/Mt Lookout. They were incredibly thorough - smoothed out all the rough patches on the walls of our 100+ year old home, removed all the old caulking from the crown molding and replaced it, and did a terrific job with the painting itself. We have a baby at home and asked that they keep sanding to a minimum and they did and even though I don't think that (we didn't pay for it and they never mentioned it) they used low VOC paint, we never could smell paint in the house when we came home every day. The team we had in our house was so nice, they were super friendly with our dog and our son and we really enjoyed getting to know them. We also were a little high maintenance in that we realized right before they came that the colors we had chosen weren't really going to work so the owners of the company came out to the house multiple days to meet with us and help us choose better colors. We're very happy with the work they did and will likely ask them to paint the exterior of our house next year.

The presentation was very good. Their gutter person came but he never got back to me. He never sent me an estimate. The owner came and looked at my house. He said that he would have his roofing people come and check out the other issues that he saw. He went on and called his people who concentrated in that area. It was interesting because I called three different service providers and they all had different solutions for the problem. None of them gave me the same answer and so, I have not had the work done yet. I have gathered the estimates and have not taken it any further. All the estimates seemed twice as much as I wanted to pay. It is an old house and there are tons of things to be done.

I was utterly surprised for this amount, which was labor ALONE. We told them ahead of time that if they measured the cap, we would provide them with the appropriate sized piece to install. Their quote was only for labor. They never provided us with a size to go an purchase a cap. With this number in mind, I went on my roof to check out the situation. They explained the labor included removing the clay pot on top of our chimney which I found was not even attached to our chimney, only resting on top. This took all of 30 seconds to take off my roof. Being that they never provided us with a measurement and that they wanted to charge so much for the labor, I am convinced they never went on the roof to actually examine what went into the job. Long story short, they simply pulled a number out of no-where. I accomplished the task myself in less than an hour and using $35 in materials. I secured the cap with multiple masonry screws and flashing sealer as well. I installed the cap in a professional manor in less than an hour. The fact that 1 hour's work was quoted to me at $725.00 is simply disrespectful. I can only assume they felt I had no idea what went into the work and therefore felt they could charge me whatever they felt like. Please keep in mind this was an estimate ONLY. HPPC did not perform any work at my residence.

They did a good job. I would definitely recommend. They were dependable.

Very good - after completing the rear of the house they were not pleased with the quality so repainted it. Cleaned everything away.

What impressed the most was the clean up job the company provided. The paint that they chipped away was gone! Immaculate job. The painting job was great and the people that I personally worked with were very personable and did help me with my final color choice. They were always at my home when they said that they were going to be. They price was competitive but worth it. I highly recommend Hide Park.

My house was in serious need of paint job. The existing paint was failing in many places. This company came out gave me the best, most thorough estimate. The estimate was lower than several other companies I tried. The quality of the work is outstanding and was completed in a timely manner. The bill nearly matched the estimated price exactly. There were no surprises and the office staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely use them again in the future. I think they offer other home repair and remodeling services. So, they will be at the top of my who to call list when things go wrong around the house.

they were very professional the entire time, the prep and the painting were amazing. They had the lowest bid of three other companies we contacted. Their cleanup was excellent, all of the workers were very courtious, and their clean-up was very good as well.

We were mostly, but not completely pleased. The crew that came out worked very fast and some details were overlooked. For example, while the entire house was power-washed, window trim was not scraped, and in several cases the painted trim looks pretty rough. In some cases, they even failed to caulk around the windows. This was fixed after we pointed it out to them for some windows, however I wonder if we missed noticing lack of caulking on other windows. Overall, they were quite responsive in fixing issues that we noticed, however since this project happened during a very busy time for me, I was not able to pay extremely close attention to them all the time. Given that their prices are not cheap, I would expect them to take care of details as a matter of course, and not only when asked to.

They showed up on time. Gave a written estimate on the spot. Gave me a start date. Gave me advance notice they would be starting 2 days late. Showed up on time and did excellent work. We increased the work scope. They were adaptable and stayed on the job until it was finished.

Went well, but took longer than expected (weather was one factor). The carpentry work was perfect and installation was very professional.

Wood panels and trims on the house were to be replaced but the carpenter sent by HPPC was incompetent. He did a slapdash job of everything and had to be forced to redo each part of his job twice and in some cases three times. He broke a window and replaced it with cheap low quality glass. I made calls to HPPC to express my dissatisfaction. Finally, they sent a competent carpenter who fixed all of the poorly done carpentry. HPPC's contract says "we emphasize prep work," but the painters did not, I had to point out many places that they prepped poorly or not at all. There appeared to be no supervisor on the job. I repeatedly had to point out mistakes that they would have been happy to overlook. The crew was an unsavory bunch who made my family and a couple of neighbors uncomfortable. The HPPC owner did not itemize carpentry work and treated me as ungrateful for the discount on hourly carpentry work, but he wouldn't have needed to discount it if it was done right first.

I am very pleased with the results and workmanship. I would definitely request their services again.
