Hyde Park Painting & Carpentry

They are punctual and professional, but the pricing was way out of the ball park. We did not use them, as their quote for doors and trim was almost what others would charge to paint the entire exterior.

The conversion of my 2 family to a 1 family required architectural drawings and permits. It took a few months for HPPC to fit me in which was not a problem. What was a problem was the contractor forgot about all the details concerning the job. Forgot about the permit and drawings even though emails with the information was sent and discussed before the estimate was received. When the carpenter was brought by to start the job I realized he was not well informed. The communication and lack of professionalism started the first day and did not improve. The work the carpenter did was above average but the methods he used to support the structural wall were not standard. The electrician showed up without knowing one of the items emailed about a couple of weeks before the job. Seems the oversight has lost sight of customer service. Extra work was done at no cost I am guessing to repair the relationship. I would have preferred to have had peace of mind. I lost sleep and missed work since all the details discussed or sent were not communicated to the carpenter doing the work.

I was very happy with the work that was done by HPPC. I have an old house that had a lot of peeling paint and the painters did an excellent job in the prep work and the painting. Mark and his crew were very thorough and professional and I would definitely hire them again!

Terry did a fabulous job! He was meticulous, efficient and very skiled. I've used HPPC over the past 10 years for painting and other services and they have always been terrific.

They pressured washed the wood. They were doing a trim and they never did. The guys they sent out were totally incompetent.

Very happy with the work done. I had hired them in the spring but they were not able to do the work until the fall. I did not lower their rating because it was a very rainy summer. It was clear to me that the team at Hyde Park is focused on doing high quality work. The singles were replaced following damage done by a previous contractor. The repair was done beautifully. There was great attention to small details during the work. The painting looks great! While they were working, it was nearly impossible to tell a project was going on. The ladders were neatly stored in the back of my house every day. I have yet to find the scrapped paint or a drop of paint on concrete or grass around my house. I felt the workers did the project like they were working on their own house. I will use them again.

I know this is a review of an very old job, but we just joined Angie's and I'm getting ready to have our house painted again. In reviewing Angie's list, I notice one reviewer (March 15, 2013 review) had a similar issue to what I'm finding now. When the job was complete we were satisfied overall. The house looked very very good with new paint. Also, HPPC did meet our additional carpentry needs by fixing damaged wood. I first noticed the coverage issue a couple years later when I mentioned to a roofing estimator we had recently done painting and wanted to avoid damage from roof work, and he said, "Well they missed few spots here." As we are getting ready to do some painting again, I've been inspecting the different areas to paint. I've notice numerous spots there isn't coverage of the previous paint. Some missed spots are brush marks and other missed marks are patches. This is surprising to me since the contract I had was for two coats. , The other reviewer found the missed spots right after the job was complete, so HPPC came back and fixed the problem. Lesson learned for me is to inspect the work in detail immediately to identify correctable issues.

We chose McCoy and Sons Painting instead. Prices were about equal but McCoy impressed us with their affinity for oil paint and meticulous methods. Proved to be a most fortunate choice - night and day vs. HPP&C experience from 1998.

They came to the house and then submitted a written estimate. Very professional and business-like, just a little too much so. I have an older house and knew that they might run into unexpected problems. Did not get the impression that they would be able to roll with the unexpected. Since I went with another contractor, I could be totally wrong.

carpenters and painters showed up on time, stayed on the job and were respectful of my property.

That didn’t go so good as far as not them but me because I didn’t realize that spot lights were so bad. They had to replace the bulb on one of the spot lights and they couldn’t even get it, it was all corroded, so it was all my fault on that. I had to have a professional electrician do that. They did show up on time and the guy was polite and all that, the only thing I was concerned about was, since it didn’t go so good with the spot light, I thought they would reduce my bill a little bit but they couldn’t. It was a $150 and I thought because they couldn’t put the light fixture, they would allow for that but no. Only the gutter, they only cleaned that out, that was it. They would charge me if we ask them to put the gutter screen on but you just lay it in. Their price in general was high. When they set a price, they preset it a day ahead before they come and that’s it, they can change it or won’t. They were professional. I would shop around for a lower price before I use them again.

Waited a while until they were available. Work done well. Arrived when scheduled. When I found leak in gutter connection, they returned to fix.

We have been using Hyde Park Carpentry and Painting for all our home repair needs. They are always responsive, professional, reasonably priced and the work is well done.

Carpenter was professional and on time, completing work to satisfaction but project was very overpriced. Company was not responsive to emails and waited 4 months to initiate project.

We were very pleased with their work. They were not the lest expensive, but they were extremely professional. They did the prep. They didn't come in and just slap paint on, cleaned up after themselves. All the people were polite. If i needed to have them back i would.

Called Hyde Park Painting and Carpentry and explained that we needed another rim joist installed in the basement of a house. Not a large job but it would probably take about 4 hours to complete. Made an appointment for them to get information to do the work. Brad Williams arrived on time and was professional and courteous. He left his card and said he would email a quote the next day. After a few days without contact I called and left a voice mail that we were still waiting for the job quote. We never received a response from Hyde Park Painting and Carpentry so we contacted Ridge Carpentry LLC and were very satisfied with the work they did.

Initially used wrong sized siding material and did not want to replace with correct size but ultimately did under pressure. Prep-work (scraping) was not done very well. Many areas peeling due to poor prep work. Priced right if job was done well, but quality just wasn't there.

Owner included extra jobs not included not in original estimate which was nice. Employees were friendly and professional. All painted areas look great.

They did a great job and were very professional and courteous.

Timely, clean, efficient. Initially the repairs did not include the entire area we had discussed, and we discussed it, and they agreed to come back out and add on to the job for minor cost. Good work, good people, good communication.

We needed a ceiling repaired because it was sagging. Hyde Park Painting and Carpentry came quickly to assess the job and had a crew working on it right away. The workers were very friendly and professional and the work was done quickly. They left the place cleaner than they found it.

After the previous contractor abandoned my project (building a garage) I called HPPC and asked if they would be able to finish my project. HPPC went out of their way to make room for me in their schedule and was able to quickly repair the errors made by the previous contractor, finish the framing, install the roof, as well as do some of the trim carpentry (I did some of the carpentry work myself to save $$). I had some work done by HPPC about ten years ago and my experience with them this time was no different. They did very good quality work at a fair price. They were responsive, punctual, professional, highly capable, and a pleasure to work with.
