Description of Work: The Hyde Park Painting & Carpentry team did an amazing job on my roof. They took their time, addressed all underlying problems encountered as the old roof was torn off. They were straight-forward on any add-on charges, and always pre-approved those charges with me. They worked in crazy weather extremes and never complained a word. They were friendly and professional, I'd absolutely use them again for roofing work.

Description of Work: Customer responded very quickly to quote request. Had set up an appointment with Salesperson named Dave to come by and discuss the quote and look at some wood repair that would have ben required. Representative failed to show up and never reached back out to me to discuss project.

We worked meticulously on this job and the end product looks great. We were in constant contact with the husband who signed the contract and we never met or spoke to the wife, who registered this report. The husband was always very cordial, pleasant and seemed very happy with the work.. We worked around their schedule and their roof issues. From start to finish, the job took eight working days and we did additional railing work at cost.

Description of Work: Hyde Park Painting painted the exterior of my house, built a shed under my deck and fencing around my air conditioner unit, and replaced rotting trim boards on my tudor-style home and attached deck. Their team was here when they said they would be here and worked diligently to get the job done well. I was very pleased with their efforts and the final products.

THE OWNER WAS VERY INSULTING, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. THE PAINTERS WERE VERY NICE, BUT VERY SLOPPY. THE OWNER WAS NOT WILLING TO LOOK AT THE SLOPPY WORK THAT WAS PERFORMED. HIS ANSWER TO EVERYTHING WAS 'MY WORKMEN WOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT', EVEN WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS THEY HAD, DUE TO THE PAINT COLOR. MY PROBLEMS WERE NEVER SOLVED, AS IT WAS EASIER TO PAY HIM THAN KEEP ARGUING ABOUT THEM.

HYDE PARK PAINTING & CARPENTRY IS NOT A REVOLVING DOOR OF WORKERS. OUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN WITH US FOR MANY YEARS. MOST HAVE BEEN WITH US OVER 7 YEARS, SOME OVER 15 YEARS. WE DO NOT KEEP "SLOPPY" PAINTERS. I (MICHAEL TOMBRAGEL), RESPONDED TO THIS CONCERN AS SOON AS THE OWNER REQUESTED. THIS JOB TOOK PLACE IN 2003 BUT I REMEMBER IT WELL. THE HOUSE WAS A RENTAL UNIT IN VERY ROUGH SHAPE. THE OWNER CLAIMED WE GOT PAINT ON THE EAVES WHEN IN FACT, IT WAS OLD PAINT -- EVEN A DIFFERENT COLOR. SHE ALSO COMPLAINED THAT WE DID NOT VARNISH THE EAVES. I DEMONSTRATED TO HER BY APPLYING ANOTHER COAT OF VARNISH TO SHOW HER THAT IT WAS INDEED HARD TO TELL(THE EAVES WERE IN VERY ROUGH CONDITION). THE PROBLEM WAS THAT I WAS TALKING AND MEETING WITH THE MEMBER AND I THOUGHT SHE WAS SATISFIED-- I NEVER EVEN MET HIM AND HE IS THE ONE WHOM REGISTERED THE COMPLAINT.

THIS COMPLAINT OCCURRED IN 2002. WE WORKED FOR THE MEMBER WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. IN FACT, HE WAS VERY PLEASED WITH OUR WORK. WE BID THE PAINTING JOB FOR $1000 AND CARPENTRY FOR $285. WHEN WE INVOICED FOR THE EXACT AMOUNT THAT WAS BID, HE THOUGHT IT WAS TOO HIGH. AS A GOODWILL GESTURE, WE REFUNDED HIM $200 TWO WEEKS AFTER WE RECEIVED FULL PAYMENT. I SUSPECT HE POSTED THIS CONCERN BEFORE HE RECEIVED HIS REFUND.
