By using this company I saved over $1000.00. Since the repair, I have had no problems with my furnace

Description of Work: I had bought a service contract during the summer. Thompson called to inspect the furnace for winter. They determined that we needed a new furnace. I wanted to contact you before we spend $5k. I had to leave the house. While I was gone and Thompson was suspose to be leaving, they frightened my 91 year old mother into signing a contract for a new furnace. When I came home, they were in the process of installing a no name furnace, that has a 20 year guarantee only if they service it. My furnace had been removed and I never got to see the damage to my original furnace. I never signed any paperwork. The local better business bureau has given them an F because this is what they do to people as a matter of course. I will not allow these crooks back on my property. I realize this means my warrantee is null and void, but the BBB reports say they overcharge for parts and service on repairs so in the long run I think I'l be just as well off . Please let people know what these people are really doing to the elderly in Cincinnati.

Description of Work: I have used Thompson before for a furnace issue, and was so happy with them that I decided to try them out for plumbing too. The plumber was helpful, direct and fair about pricing, gave me my options and an honest opinion about which he would choose, and even showed me how to fix the problem myself so that I won't have to call him in the future. He even left me the tool!

Description of Work: Changed all the insides of a toilet. The individual did a very good job and was very professional. The job took about 2 hours. I am a regular uses of Thompsons so I know they are a little high but the services is always good. With this job, I was astounded at the price. The parts cost no more than $100. With two hours labor the bill was, in my mind, excessive. It was not due to a Sunday call as they had changed the original date two days before. I called and get some satisfaction talked to a manager ($100 on reduction of next bill). To be clear, the plumber to me the price but I did not have a choice as we were having a party that evening. I will be much more careful in how I select then for future plumbing jobs just because of the pricing.

Description of Work: Joe J. came to do our yearly furnace check-up. Joe also serviced out humidifer. Great job was done all around. We previously purchased a monthly service contract with Thompson and the furnace check-up was free, only had to pay for replacing the humidier panel.

Description of Work: Signed up for monthly contract with Thompson. On the first trip, they fixed a leaky bathtub facet and there was no charge. On the second trip, they inspected the a/c and replaced some worn parts. No service charge because of the monthly plan.

Description of Work: RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND RIDICULOUS PRICING SYSTEM. I found a leaking 1/2" copper pipe in my basement. I was concerned that it could get worse. I work at GE and drive past Thompson along Rt 75. I called and they sent a service man out to the house to give a quote and hopefully fix it. He told me that we needed 8-ft of 1/2" copper and it would cost $450. He said he was referring to a flat rate cost-table from his office for "1/2 to 2-inch copper!!!" WHAT A RANGE!!! They do not offer hourly rates (Crazy!!!). I am in construction and can actually sweat my own copper - I could do the job myself if I was not so busy. I KNOW that $450 is 4 times what it should cost. I asked him to leave and he was rude. I then talked to his office manager who gave me a huge song and dance that his firm background checks, blah, blah, blah - and he was very RUDE. I CALLED IN HIS COMPETITOR AND THEY DID IT FOR $125!!!

Description of Work: It was a seasonal furnace inspection. Last year when we did this they red tagged my furnaces(2). When I brought in a contractor from my home warranty service they said it should not have red tagged it and fixed it. I should have known to quit Thompson then. They came out this year and everything was OK. The next day it got warmer and I turned on the A/C. The downstairs unit did not work. I called in home warranty contractor who spent an hour searching for problem. Then come to find a disconnected wire to the A/C. No way this wire came unconnected by itself. Although I can't prove it I suspect the Thompson people were trying to create another service call. Circumstantial and just my opinion,I know but my son had a bad experience with Thompson scheduling and customer service and they are "F" rated by BBB. I tried to cancel my service contract (on for 16 mos.), They were going to make me pay a bunch to get out of the contract. Then played phone tag for several days, finally got it done. Their customer service supervisor was rude.

Description of Work: I had them come to give estimate on new radiant heaing system. The estimater was there an hour and I didn't get an estimate from him. I called the office a week later and was told they would get back to me and no one ever did. I also called them at the same time about a leaking toilet. They told me it was the seal and needed to order it from the manufacturer, gave me an estimate and was going to call when the part came in. Never heard from them again. I guess my business was too small for them to care.

Description of Work: Old furnance stopped working. Call Thomson and they came out right away. They began checking and decided it needed to be replaced and set up for another person to come over and give an estimate. from the actions of the employee I could feel they had already decided to try a replacement. Called Apollo Heating and they told me the never saw a furnace they could not fix. Before i got a chance to call them back I met the estimator and told him he was not needed. I feel that Thompson will try to sell you a whole unit even if they could of fixed it.
