Help Plumbing Heating Cooling and Electric

If you have a HELP sign in your yard-get rid of them now and get a second opinion!!!!!! Be very afraid of their coupon for a routine check and their monthly "club membership". You may find your entire system is history within a few months. Then they will send in pushy sales people who falsify information to obtain financing. They are formally Thompson Heating and Cooling-F minus rating with the BBB. Wait long enough and they will change their name. It must pay to hire radio personalities and big billboards to promote their crooked business. They KNOW what they did to us, and we will continue to spread the word whenever possible. Maybe our unfortunate experience with HELP will help others stay away.

Help improperly installed my furnace which caused it to leak all over my basement carpet. I had to continually chAse down their customer service lead and the COO to get the problem remedied. Very difficult to work with especially considering the giant mistake they made that caused all the issues.

They really do a great job and I would recommend them. They are very thorough. We pay $20 for our monthly service.

Everything went just as discussed and planned.

It turned out to be a broken compressor wire and was easily fixed.

They did a decent job and they came out on a Sunday, which we were really surprised about and thankful for. They were very courteous and professional. They were also very friendly and efficient. We were very happy with them.

Called Thompson (HELP) because we had a "membership" with a monthly fee for discounts on work. Our heat pump had died a few months back and we knew we probably needed a heat pump and furnace. After looking at the heat pump two men started the heavy sales pitch. It went on and on and at the end the bottom line was the new units would cost $14,500. I don't know anything about heat pumps or furnaces but I knew that the quote was outrageous. I asked them for a quote on repairing the heat pump and they said someone would call about it. Well, no one every did and I went to another company I found on Angie's List and they did the job for $7,500. I honestly don't know how Thompson (HELP) stays in business when you look at all the F reviews on Angie's. And guess what? The "membership discount" did not apply to the heat pump and furnace replacement or the discount was something like 5%.

Contacted provider to repair kitchen sink which was leaking. Indicated that my water pressure was too high and needed to install an expensive valve (over $1000) before the repair could be done, otherwise no repairs were guaranteed, and the sink could start leaking again next week. Indicated that house was being sold and did not want the expensive repair. He kept insisting that it be done. Tried using scare tactics saying the home buyer could come after me later if repairs that were done were not warranted and started leaking again. Was very obnoxious. Kept telling me he was the expect (indicating I was not) and that this had to be done. He was there for about an hour going on and on about this expensive repair, and that it had to be done. Finally I was tired of listening to him and just told him to leave. But of course I had to pay the service call of $69 even though nothing had been done. Contacted the company and was told a message would be given to the manager, and they would call. Of course no one has called.

They came to clear my two drains. I took them almost 1 hour to finish the job. They did a good job.

They arrived on time, got the job done and cleaned up after themselves. They only missed disposing of the used furnace filter. In fairness, it took me a while to stumble across it in the cluttered area I provided for them to do their work. Both men were knowledgeable and capable workers. I recommend and will continue to use HELP Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric as my go-to help. They are not the cheapest, but they are prompt and efficient. The price they quote is the price you pay. This was a no-cost job for me today because I am a member of their maintenance club.

I only paid a small fee for them to come here. They had a price of like $69 for a home visit and then they would tell you what it would cost you to solve your problem. To solve my problem, the price turned out to be somewhere $8000 and I said no. I checked with another company that I had an insurance policy for sewer line problems with and they said that there is no way I should spend that kind of money. They were going to tear through my house, through the wall and put some kind of a liner in there and they wanted to do all kinds of things and I said no way. I just didn't think they were a very reliable company. They were just outrageous in what they wanted to charge. There was no reason to tear through the house to do this; they could do it for much less by digging down from the outside.

They replaced a part in the furnace and didn't charge me anything because of my membership. They take time to answer questions. It took less than an hour and that was very good.

He replaced a part under warranty. He was helpful and full of information. And preformed all of that in a timely manner!

sked him to instalThe technician inspected the furnace and suggested that he replace the ignitor. Of course he did not have one on the truck and left for one hour returning with the part. He supposedly replaced the part. I asked him to install a thermostat that I had purchased and on two occasions he made excuses for not replacing it which were lame excuses. Three hours later the furnace would not heat. After six hours waiting for a technician he arrived and fixed the problem. The original tech did not replace the ignitor as he stated.

After investigating the original problem, they recommended that I take out my whole electrical box, and replace it with a new one, as it was not up to code. I also had them replace a pull chain in the basement, and they immediately began going to the other lights in my home, finding issues with it. I felt as though the entire time they were here, they were trying to run up an outrageous bill of over $5500, when all I needed was the pull chain light repaired and the insulation replaced around the outside service wiring. I felt like I was being pressured and overwhelmed by the upselling. They are thieves, crooks, and engage in unethical business practices.

Long story short, after HELP came out 3 times (free of charge) to investigate the odor that we were getting after the sewage line was replaced, Dave and his crew determined that the odor was coming from an old vent stack that was no longer in use, but still attached to the city's sewer. Our construction contractor had unknowingly cut the vent when we remodeled our kitchen earlier in the year, and the odor was pouring into the house from that line. Not only did Dave come out 3 times to figure out the issue (free of charge), he ALSO came out a 4th time to remove all old iron pipes in our laundry room and cap them with concrete. This was a pretty large job that I assume they could have charged us an arm and a leg for labor....despite the time and effort, and the fact this sudden odor had nothing to do with their prior services performed, Dave repeatedly said they want to "make it right" for me...AND THEY DID! We have zero odor, and everything is working better than when the house was built in 1907! Seriously, HELP Plumbing needs to give Dave and his team a large promotion! They had earned a customer for life!

Our water heater burnt out out of nowhere - smelled terrible, smoke everywhere, really scary stuff. We called HELP because we had heard them on the radio and they were at our house in less than an hour. They were incredibly helpful, and he was able to correct the issue same day. He had a back up water heater on his truck! It was AWESOME. The guy was friendly, and personable. He made us feel confident in his work. Overall, we had a problem that could have been terrible get resolved in about 4 hours total. These guys ROCK. Slightly expenive, I'm sure if we had shopped around for a few days we could have found something cheaper, but in my opinion, I was paying for their prompt response, and quick resolution, which I would doo any day for something like this. They were really great.

Our shower faucet was leaky for a really long time, so my husband tried to fix it, when he took off the old faucet to replace it, he noticed extensive rust and rot on the pipes behind the shower wall. We thought it would be better to have a plumber look at it to make sure everything was OK. The representative was prompt, responded to our home the next day ( when we called they asked if it was an emergency, we said no, so they didn't rush over, which was fine with us). He explained the problem, that we'd need to replace the pipe to the shower head, and we gave us an estimate. It was a little higher than we had hoped, and didn't have that much cash saved. We prefer not to charge anything we don?t HAVE to, so we asked if he could write us up a quote and come back. He obliged, and capped off the pipe so it wouldn't get worse. Two weeks later after we had saved up the cash we called him back, he was there next day again and completely fixed the issue and was very professional and helpful. We'd definately use them again, and in fact were so impressed with their service and responsivness we purchased their service program.

Unless you have nothing better to do with your money than to throw it away, find another plumber. The price was ridiculously high for a tiny job. The actual work performed was average. I was at work, so my elderly mother met the plumber at my house. Maybe they took advantage of her because she is a "little old lady," or maybe their prices are always this high, but don't be fooled by the slick commercials and the "we support our veterans" gimmicks. I was fully prepared to pay the $69 fee to have them come out to the house, and I do understand that their fees need to cover overhead expenses as well as the hourly wage of the plumber, and that there's a mark-up on the cost of parts. However, I was not prepared to be charged a whopping $104.05 in addition to the service call fee, for a grand total of $173.05. It took the plumber less than 30 seconds to install the new seal, which could have been purchased at a hardware store for $5.90. He didn't even bring his toolbox into the house. When my mother complained about the price (she called it "highway robbery"), he dropped the charges to $111.55, which was still ludicrous. When I called the office to complain, I got the standard line about "overhead." My father ran a plumbing business in Colorado for 40 years, and never charged so much for overhead. I was also told that the company and I aren't a "good fit." You've got that right, and they'll never get another penny from me. Don't be swindled --- do a little research and find a company that won't grossly overcharge you like this one did to me.

The guy said his snake was busted - really?? But he'd give it a shot - it looked like a half baked effort at best. Then says he's sure that the clog is way out of reach - probably in the line out by the street and it will be over $1000. He's POSITIVE that's the problem - at this point I know he's a crook and just want him out of my house. He then proceeds to basically bully me into signing a paper saying how satisfied I was with the service to get him out. I then get my Plummer over to snake it and clears it in less than 10 min. So, I call HELP back and tell them I want my money back or I'm filing a complaint with the BBB. They make me send them a receipt from my Plummer and eventually credit my account. Unbelievable!! And this is the company that says you can send them to your Grandmothers house . Disgusting to think of somebody elderly that's too tired or sick or needy to realize they are being scammed.

I own a rental house and my tenant was without heat for 2 days, I didn't know who to call and I found Help heating and cooling. I heard that they were reputable. I called them and they came out. I wanted them to install central air in the rental house. I asked him if he would mind to check my furnace, he looked at my furnace and came right back up and said you need a new furnace, you have a gas leak. He asked me if I was able to make the decision and sign the papers. I told him I was of sound mind and I could sign the papers just fine. I told the man I was trusting him to be fair with me. They put in two new furnaces in my house and the rental house. My son called 2 other companies to come in and take a look. They both came in and offered us a better price. I had to call my attorney to him call Help have them removed the furnaces from the houses. My son says that they took advantage of me. They did refund me some of the money. I would never use them again and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I felt that they were dishonest.

I've been using them for several years, and they always do a great job. They train their technicians very well, they always show on time, and they're very respectful of the house when working. Specifically, the technicians will do such things as wearing booties before entering the house so as not to track mud everywhere.

He was trying to charge me for something that wasn’t broke. I called another company out for a 2nd opinion and that other company said that there was no issue. HELP's prices are always higher than other people's too.

Two technicians returned the next day with the necessary replacement part. They were friendly ,professional and I felt that their prices were competitive.
