Very good, they were prompt, professional, very easy to work with and coordinate schedules with. The ability to coordinate schedules was particularly important as it required us moving a lot of furniture. Didn't break anything or create any messes, and everything works.
Description of Work: Replaced the aluminum wiring throughout the house with copper. Did thi for every connection point, plugs, ceiling lights, light switches.

I had this company come out as one of my circuit breakers went off. Electrician went through the circuit and found the bad outlet where ground wire was frayed. He fixed it and put circuit back together but after he left on of the switches in my 4 way switch did not work. We waited a while to call about his but when we did he came back out to tell us that that switch had gone bad the exact day that he fixed the outlet upstairs. For this I had to pay 140. Then they would come back and charge and additional 40 to install a new switch. Irritated and confused as to how that could possibly happen the same day. Then the next day the entire circuit went out as it had orginally done when he fixed it in December. I pulled the outlet he had pulled out before to show me the frayed ground wire and it was frayed once again. So at the end of the day I now have my old problem and a new one and 320 down the drain.
Description of Work: Circuit checked to see what was causing outage as well as a switch in 4way not working.

Response from Cooper Electric
On Tuesday January 29th, we resolved the issue with this customer, at our expense. A few details she did not included. First, there were 3 different junction boxes on the same circuit, which had 3 different issues. Secondly, we ordered her a special 4 way switch for her style of switches, but in the mean time she bought a different type of 4 way and installed it herself which is when the second call occurred. In the end, we found and fixed 3 different issues on the same circuit, meaning in the switch, an outlet, and second switch location, on the same circuit, there were problems. The way the original builder wired the circuit was incorrect and is why the problem was in 3 locations on the same circuit. Regards, Gil Hyland, business development, Cooper Electric.

Whole service call was done efficiently with explanations along the way!
Description of Work: Dave was the serviceman from Cooper. He was at our home early, fixed outlet, doorbell and jacuzzi quickly and efficiently---would ask for him again for any other electrical needs! Dave was professional and explained everything as he was fixing it---gave some suggestions for future projects.

I would not use them again.
Description of Work: Honestly I would not use this company. First, I didn't care for that the first thing they did when they pulled into our driveway is put a company sign in our yard. I do not care to place advertisements in our yard. They did it without asking and when they left, they left the sign. As for the service, I guess it was okay but is was mighty expensive.

After my initial efforts to solve the problem, I called Cooper Electric. They were able to schedule an appointment in a few hours. The office detailed the charges for a service call, plus per hour charges and any material or parts needed.Technician showed up on time, listened carefully to what had happened, and started tracing the faulty circuit, which involved moving furniture to test outlets, and many trips up and down stairs to check outlets and panels. He was very careful about moving furniture. He was able to diagnose and repair the problem, and discussed the electrical problems found in a house of 1955 vintage. He offered an overview of the whole house diagnostic survey, which I said I might be interested in at a later date. I am very satisfied with this service call-- and my tree lights are shining once again! The only irritation I experienced was after the technician had left, and I found a yard sign for Cooper Electric in my front yard. I wasn't asked about this, and would have preferred not to have this advertisement left without my permission.

They sent an 'estimator' whose only purpose was to sell us a $3000 inflated diagnostic test over while house - JUST TO DIAGNOSE, involving no repair or rewiring. This proved to be a waste of our time. We have had since then help from another company that has cleared up our problems for about $600. Cooper now works with another co. called Current.

Response from Cooper Electric
Our initial involvement was an inquiry about our whole house diagnostic test. We did send an 'estimator' to her home, for free. They met at 5:30pm on November 15th. In our phone conversations with her she was informed that we were sending an 'estimator' to better understand her concerns, and to lay out a plan. She was informed that this was a free consultation, and she happily agreed to a time. We are sorry there was a misunderstanding with what services we provide and what she needed. Our estimator provided her with options and one of those included a whole house diagnostic test, however, the number she uses is not consistent with the pricing of that service. We try to fair and upfront with everyone, which is why we offer Free Estimates, to lay out a plan and a price so that the homeowners can make decisions. We hope that the free consultation we provided her with helped in her descriptive process with the second company, because she did not specify much to us on the front end. Which is why we sent an estimator, for free, to sort out what she was looking to accomplish. We will continually strive to understand people better, however, this lady spent no money with us and received excellent and valuable recommendations and electrical knowledge. The electrician arrived on time, surveyed the issues we discussed and made a plan of action. If he didn't know exactly where we worked in the garden, he didn't hesitate to ask. He worked diligently and was careful not to disturb plants that were not in his way. He was very thoughtful, precise and worked as if this was his own home. He was friendly and answered all of the questions we had. We felt safe in knowing that the job was done correctly and that no one would be getting electrocuted when the fountain was in use ! We would use Cooper Electric again, and refer them as well.
Description of Work: Cooper Electric is a very professional company. We needed outside electrical work done as after 20 years we could no longer figure out where the wires ran from the house to the lamp post, and were expanding our garden. We also had a fountain which needed to have the electric box grounded. Cooper sent one person to do the work. He was very particular and very careful in what he was doing. He worked steadily and if he had a question he would knock on the door . He was neat, and cleaned up his small piles of dirt that he had to dig up in order to lay more wiring. The reason I put "B" in the price box is only because we really have no idea what electricians cost....we haven't had to use them very often. However, based on the professionalism, the presentation of the work afterwards, the elimination of wiring problems, and knowing the work was guaranteed, we would use this company again.

Response from Cooper Electric
It is unfortunate that a yard sign has caused a person we never dealt with directly to assassinate our character over a misunderstanding. Here is the true story of what took place, and most likely the reason behind this reviewers harsh view..... Cooper Electric completed an Electrical SAFETY Inspection for THE BUYER of the home...... Cooper Electric never spoke once with THE SELLER.... Our electrician was let in, accompanied with THE BUYERS agent named Rebecca in an empty house, no furniture, no people....... Our electrician completed his objective of an Electrical SAFETY Inspection of the entire home's electrical system, and our electrician found LIVE WIRES exposed in several parts of the basement...... Our electrician wrote up a report and gave it to THE BUYERS agent Rebecca..... The gentlemen, who wrote this scathing review, did not even deal with Cooper Electric, this gentleman was THE SELLER....... Apparently he took exception to Cooper Electric’s THOROUGH Electrical SAFETY Inspection.... in which we found LIVE WIRES in the home...... Cooper Electric completed our objective of a Safety Inspection..... THE BUYER, , she still bought the home, and was very happy with Cooper Electric, because we did what we were hired to do..... It is unfortunate that this gentlemen lashed out in a review about a company he has never dealt with.... His real issue is that we found LIVE WIRES in his basement. Regards, Gil Hyland, Cooper Electric.

We begin our workday at 7:30am. When setting morning appointments our service manager Darrell Henderson, specifically informs customers of this. We give customers options of when to start the job, and first appointment in the morning start at 7:30am. We are sorry the customer feels that this should detract from Cooper Electric as a company, we feel that starting at 7:30am promptly on the jobsite is the best customer service we can provide, they did not have to wait for our electricians to show up, we were ready at the time we said we would be there. The whole experience was excellent. I requested an estimate via the company's web site. I was called promptly and an appointment was made for the estimate. The electrician Mike came out and talked with us and went over what would be required. Although the estimate of $1000 seemed initially high, we realized the effort that would be involved. The foyer light fixture is two stories above the floor; another fixture was over a set of stairs; and the third fixture was a kitchen ceiling fan/light 12 feet above the floor. On the appointed day, Mike arrived right on time, as did his helper with the ladders. The whole process took 3 hours. Everything was handled very neatly and professionally. They took extra care not to damage anything with the huge ladders they used. We are very satisfied with how things turned out.

We used Cooper Electric last June to mount an outdoor television and to run electricity to the area. I was pleased with the initial work but unfortunately there was a mounting issue where the mounts failed causing my tv to fall and break. I contacted the company and was put in contact with the owner. He (and his electrician) inspected the issue, cleaned up the mess, accepted responsibility, and paid for/repaired the issue. This was all done in a pleasant, quick, fair, and non-confrontational manner. The owner was present and assisted at re-installation. While I was disappointed in the initial mount failure, the response to it was, in my opinion, exceptional and not what I am used to when dealing with this type of situation. I will use Cooper Electric again and would recommend them to anyone needing electrical work. They really stand behind their work.

We recently purchased a second home and called Cooper Electric because they did such a great job on our first home. The technician was prompt but somewhat shy. He did not identify his company upon arrival. We were expecting 3 to companies to come that day to work on the house so I had to ask which one he was from to know which job he would be dealing with. I showed him the large portion of the basement that had no electrical outlets and he showed me two options for running the wires. One option was to run wire by drilling through the attic floor, down into the dining room wall (where he would have to cut a hole into the wall to fish for the wire) and then run the wire into the basement through the ceiling panels through pipes leading to the outlets. He said it would cost a little over $400 because they get paid by the hour. The second option (which I chose) was to run circuit down to a pipe to each plug from another plug in the basement that was on it's own 20 amp breaker. He said that this option was a lot quicker and easier for him to access without cutting into the wall. I thought that it would be a little cheaper because he said that"it would be a lot quicker". The price ended up significantly over $400 but he did do a great job, worked quickly, and cleaned up the area after he was done. I would recommend this company and use them again but agree to a price before the work begins.
Description of Work: Installed 3 new outlets throughout basement. Ran circuit to each plug feed from another plug that was on it's own 20 amp breaker.

The service portion at my house was fine. The price was on target with the phone quote I received and the electrician was efficient with his time. I appreciated that because they bill labor charges by the half-hour (30-minute increments). The reason I rated my overall experience as a "B" is because he was late. When I made the appointment Cooper gave me a two-hour window. Nearly 30 minutes after the window expired, when I was searching for another provider, the electrician called me to tell me he was on his way. I noted that he was late and he told me that he had to attend to another customer who had had their electricity turned off. I scheduled my work day around this two-hour window so a courtesy call would have been nice a nice touch.
Description of Work: We had a light that, when switched off, would remain on. I called Cooper Electric and told the man that answered the phone the issue and he said it was likely a bad switch. I called on a Thursday and the first available non-emergency appointment was the following Tuesday - not a problem for us since we had other light sources in the room. The electrician replaced the broken switch and the one on the opposite side of the room (The light has two switches so I agreed to this additional replacement since both switches were the same age. The extra cost for this service was $6). Along the way he showed me how the primary/first installation contributed to the problem and shared educational information about home wiring and what to look for in determining if we would have a wiring problem (other than obvious items like the problem we were experiencing and more serious problems such as sparks and fires).

We were selling the home and the inspector found aluminum wiring so we had to get it replaced. They were fast fair and clean. In addition when it came time to tell the buyers the work was done they wanted have the home re-inspected. Response from Cooper Electric
The journeyman electrician who they label as "supervisor" completes the majority of the installations. The younger gentlemen are apprentice electricians, who had 4 years of vocational training in high school, and are currently enrolled in our IEC 4 year apprenticeship program. It is a time honored tradition to teach young apprentices under the supervision of a journeyman electrician. We assure that everything we do is according to the standards of the National Electrical Code. Regards, Gil Hyland, Marketing Manager.
