Both Tony and Josh were very friendly, polite and professional. I'm pleased with their service and would welcome their help in the future.
Description of Work: Two electricians(Tony & Josh) arrived a little later than scheduled, but it was no inconvenience to me. They asked me to explain the problem I was having with my breakers, outlets, and switches then they started investigating the problem. After replacing a breaker and noticing the lights were still flickering, they opened numerous outlets and switches and went up into the drop ceiling where they ultimately found a bad connection for an overhead light fixture that was causing an electrical arc. They corrected that problem, replaced a light switch in another room, checked voltage on some outlets, and also answered questions I had about a future outdoor lighting project.

Mike showed up and I showed him the projects (2). This included wiring the third floor of my 110 yr old house and 2) running new wiring for a master bathroom. He asked me what my budget was and I told him I had no idea how much this would cost. He pressed me again asking how much did I "think" it would cost. I said $1,500 for each? He told me try $4,000 for each. I have a feeling this is why I didn't hear back even though he told me I would have something the following week. I even called and left a message, but it was never returned. He did seem very knowledgeable and did mention some things that others did not. I guess they don't need the business.
Description of Work: I did not use this contractor as they never called me back or submitted their bid.

Great! Dave was the electrician and he was professional, punctual and I will request him in the future. He also made some suggestions about updating our smoke detectors and unplugging our phone chargers when not in use. I felt very confident in his abilities and we have been very happy with his work.

The service call went very well. We got lucky. We called in the morning and the job dispatcher said there was one electrician who was ahead of schedule and they might be able to get to me the same day, in the afternoon. About 3:45 got a call from the technician that he was on the way over. He quickly looked over the project, turned off the electricity to the outlet, and got to work. In a short time, he had swapped out the plug. I also got $10 off using an Angie's List coupon. Cooper has a reputation of being the best electrician in the city, and I believe it. Each time we've used them, the project as gone very well. We always use them when we have electrical work to get done.
Description of Work: Changed an old 4-prong plug to a 3-prong plug that our clothes dryer uses. Also changed the electrical box because it was rusted out. 220-watt line. Changed two other outlets from two-prong to 2-prong with gournd (GSI).

Second time Cooper Electric has done work for me. Pleased with quality & completion of job both times. However , I feel the office should have called me proactively regarding the delay in workman's arrival.
Description of Work: Return of initial call was prompt. First available service for job of running a dedicated electric circuit for new dishwasher was 3 weeks out. This was ok . On day of job, worker was scheduled to arrive at 10:00AM. Did not arrive until 11:30. I called office twice between 10:00 & 11:30 AM. Delay was due to company wide benefits meeting running long. Workman completed job in good time upon arrival. Worked steadily & was polite. He was very apologetic for late arrival. Work was neatly done and is functional.

I had already had another electrician ( a big deal ) look at this problem and was told nothing was wrong with the circuit. My eight year old dryer was causing the circuit breaker to flip off. I bought a new dryer and it ran but did not heat so I called Cooper Electric who we had used years ago. When Dave tested the voltage at the dryer he too got a reading of 240 volts but did not stop there. With further investigation he discovered it dropped to 110 when the dryer was running ( under a load ).So he had to run a new line and in the process installed a new outlet that is up to code and safer as well as more conveniently located. He also got rid of a potential fire hazard in the old line. I'm impressed with Cooper Electric and Dave in particular for solving my problem. He was very professional, explained everything, had to work really hard in some awkward spaces, and left everything clean and safe. Cooper may be pricier than some other deals but I believe they are worth it.

Response from Cooper Electric
First, we apologized that this customer felt upset. We were only trying to help them, by pointing out, in our professional opinion, the existence of rather apparent defects with their aluminum wiring.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please note that this home was built in 1967. During that era, from the late 1960s through early 1970s, aluminum wiring was the primary material used to wire homes. Unfortunately, aluminum wiring is very problematic and creates fire hazard.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends having the wiring crimped using the AMP COPALUM CORRECTION.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We actually performed 2 service calls on their home. The First, on 9/24/12, customer called stating “outlets sparking”. Our electrician John, stated that aluminum wiring was present and he corrected the outlet utilizing the AMP COPALUM CORRECTION, John also recommended to the customer to have other hazards possibly corrected. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Second call was on 12/22/12 customer stated “kitchen circuit was not working”. On this second call another one of our electricians Dave was out to the home, and fixed the problem, again applying the AMP COPALUM CORRECTION. Dave also recommended to the homeowner to have other obvious hazards corrected, not realizing that John had already suggested it. In both instances Cooper Electric applied the AMP COPALUM CORRECTION system to remedy the immediate problem, and pointed out the presence of other obvious hazards. The customer declined to fix anything else.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOR COMPARISON, picture going to your Dentist, having the Dentist find cavities and he alerts you to their existence. You decide to have the Dentist address and fill just 2 cavities on different days. On the first visit, the Dentist recommends that you should have the rest of your cavities attended to. On your second visit, he explains again, that you still have a mouth full of cavities, and asks if you would like to fill those cavities. What would you do?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We believe, like the Dentist alerts you to a cavity he sees, that we as Electricians have an obligation to alert you to electrical hazards we see. Again, we apologize for upsetting the customer.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thanks, Cooper Electric.

On site quote was performed in a timely fashion after initial contact and was through and quick. Quote received was on par with the other quotes received. Work and process was explained very well. Day of work tech arrived on time and proceeded to perform work in a diligent fashion. Tech even took the time to clean up some of the wiring in the breaker box and replaced circuit breaker that he accidentally broke. Second tech who stopped by with the replacement breaker even stayed to help him finish up even though he was off. I was very impressed with the finished product and the time they allowed to explain what they would do and answer my questions. They also tackled a couple issues that were really not part of the quote but probably should have been.

Teddy spent four days assessing the 100 year old wiring, outlets, switches... in the house, barn, and pool room using the CurrentSAFE Electrical Hazard Detection tools. Through sound, heat, and visual inspection techniques, Teddy found over sixty points of concern and took time to explain each concern. He was very knowledgeable and patient. A 45 page report with photos was then reviewed with me, by Mike, and a plan for correction of the problem areas was outlined and agreed upon. Larry and his assistants replaced many warn out outlets with updated GFCI outlets, replaced frayed wires, replaced the electric panel in the barn, rewired incorrectly spliced wires, resolved some mystery switches, and radically reduced the potential for electric shock and possible fire at my residence. I have one less worry to keep my awake at night! I feel that the quality and thoroughness of the service was worth the cost. In addition, the Cooper Electric team's respectful treatment of my home and family was commendable.

The craftsman was prompt, professional, efficient, and polite. I used a $10 off Angie's List coupon for the service call that was readily accepted. The price was great. In 1996, I used Cooper for rewiring/circuit breaker box and was delighted then. The service /work was still very good. I was quite pleased.

The presentation was thorough and well done. The price for the Current Safe was held back until the end and was quite high.
Description of Work: I had the company come out to present their Current Safe program. It was a very complete and impressive presentation, however, the price was very high. The approximate price for my whole house electrical inspection was $2,700.00. That would be just to evalutate, no repairs included if defects found and none of this amount would apply toward repairs. I opted not to have the Current Safe inspection due to high price.
