I went ahead and signed the paperwork and they scheduled someone to come out to do the job. I let him in that morning. I hadn't heard from anyone all day at work, but I expected the work to be completed when I got home. Instead, no work had been completed and no communication had been made. I called the company to see just what they did in my house that day but nobody was there at that time. I received a call back a while later that someone was going to look in to it. The next day I got a call back that there was some form of a communication problem between the person doing the work and the person who was managing my project so thats why no communication was made. They said they had not correctly estimated my job and that it would require more people to get it done and they would have to reschedule it. I never heard from them again for multiple weeks for the reschedule and decided to move on to a new electrical company after this bad experience.
Description of Work: I had Cooper give an estimate on bringing some of my electrical in to compliance for a single family (converted from a double family) as well as combining the electrical systems in to a single box.

It went great! It took the electrician a while to find the problem. He took apart every light on the deck before he discovered the ants nest.
Description of Work: The lights on our deck didn't work. The electrician found an ants nest under one of the lights which was causing the lights to go out as soon as we switched them on. We need to have a few lights replaced and he was suppose to call us with an estimate. He hasn't called yet, that was 10 days ago. I will need to follow up. We were very pleased with the work done and the time he took to check out the system.

The company was prompt with returning phone calls and giving an estimate on the work we needed done immediately. The work was completed quickly and efficiently - allowing us to move into a 150 year old house without worrying about faulty wiring and overloaded circuits. My mother (who was home alone with the electricians and cleaning the hardwood floors) got a big wood sliver in her finger. She was near fainting from the pain and called out for help. One of the electricians helped her sit down and used his pliers to pull the sliver out of her finger, both were shocked that the sliver was nearly an inch long and almost pierced her finger completely through. She was very impressed with the compassion of the young man. The finger healed well with no infection!
Description of Work: Added electrical sub-panel and relocated circuits to remove three double tapped circuits. Replaced some worn knob and tube wiring.

They were there on time, got the old fan down and then discovered that there was not a long stem in the box even though the box led one to believe that it was there so they had to wait while we went to get a longer stem. The installation box in the ceiling was fan rated but installed in a somewhat irregular way which required substantial effort to get the new fan in place. There was no damage to any surfaces although it was complicated to get to the fan and complete the installation. Thank you Cooper Electric.
Description of Work: We needed installation of a new ceiling fan in the 2 story entry way to our house. It required a ladder and scaffolding to bridge to the fan since the stairway prevented a regular tall ladder from being used. The workman had to kneel on the scaffolding (because he was very tall) to take down the old fan that had been up for 20 years.

Customer service was helpful and friendly. Jack Cummings came to our home within a couple of days to give us an estimate for various electrical jobs we had in mind. Since we live in a house that is over 100 years old, we faced a couple of challenges. Jack was upfront and clear about all the details of the work proposed. He listened to our concerns about holes in the walls, dust and keeping the integrity of our older home. We received an estimate within a couple of days and we felt it was very fair. Mike came to our home after scheduling a time to do the work. After going over the estimate and showing Mike where the work was to be done, he got right to work. He was very polite and understood our concerns expressed to Jack about keeping the integrity of our older home. All the work on the estimate was finished in a couple of hours. The overall job was clean and neat with minimal wall and ceiling repair. This is the second time we've used Cooper Electric. Excellent Company!
Description of Work: Installed new light fixtures in our hall, kitchen and front porch. Installed an exhaust fan in a bathroom and added an outlet and timer.

Cooper did a great job all around. They responded quickly to our call and came within a day to do the repairs. The person I initially spoke with, unfortunately his name escapes me, was courteous and helpful. As well the person who did the work, Dave, was professional and did his work quickly. We will definitely call Cooper again for other electrical needs.
Description of Work: The work was done following a home inspection connected with the sale of our home. They installed a breaker to correct a double tap in the fuse box. They also installed a GFI outlet in one bathroom.

It went great. Steve from Cooper Electric arrived on time and was polite and professional throughout. He worked continuously until the jobs were completed. The finished work was excellent. He was very creative in figuring out the best way to install the clock receptacle and on/off switch without having to damage the walls or trim. He even fixed a loose doorknob for us when he noticed it while going in and out of the house on the job (no charge).
Description of Work: A) Removed 3 old, broken low voltage/high output hanging lamps and installed 3 new replacement low voltage/high output hanging lamps over a rec room bar. B) Wired and installed a "clock receptacle" outlet, installed an on/off wall switch to work the outlet, rewired a picture light, attached the picture light to a picture frame, hung and plugged in the picture.

Tony was very patient with us, since we'd given a small list over the phone, but needed to add a couple more tasks when he arrived. He repaired a doorbell, light switch, and replaced 2 outlets near kitchen sink with safer ones. Also replaced floodlight fixture on corner of house that no longer worked. He did a very professional job - the only tiny complaint I have was he left shattered floodlight loose in our trash can. Other than that, we were very satisfied.

Description of Work: Two service calls. 1) Fixed the wiring in light switches. We had never been able to figure out why some switches never worked. Steve said the wires were a dangerous mess and cleaned it up. 2) Installed an extra switch for a motion light - in the same area as last visit.

The company was able to accommodate my request for an appt. on very short notice. David McGrath was the service person and was very courteous and professional. Work was done promptly and price was exactly as stated over the phone. We were also able to get 10% off because we were Angie's List members. Very happy to have our lights working again.

Jeff telephoned me promptly in my email request for repair work. The electrician, Steve, arrived 5 minutes early, clean and neat, vehicle clean and in good repair. Steve listened patiently to me in what I had done to create my outage problem, asked a few quick questions diagnostic related. By 7:45 a.m., Steve found the problem of a neutral wire open in a plug "upstream" of where I had replaced a plug. Steve also installed a phone jack to existing wiring, as I was paranoid of doing any electric work of my own at this time. Steve also did a quick check of the house, taking notes for an estimate of electric upgrades (replacing a "pushmatic" with more modern breaker panel) and warned me that I would have to have some Time & Materials work related to a panel upgrade because of "old code" wiring to the dryer and the electric stove.
Description of Work: I replaced a duplex plug, and lost power somehow to half of my house. Diagnostics performed and another duplex was found defective and replaced.

Excellent. The job took about 3 hours, and was scheduled within 2 days of when I called. They didn't give a written estimate, but gave me an idea of how much it might cost. The final price was within $25. The ceiling is plaster and wood lath with a textured paint finish, so we were concerned about having to patch holes in the ceiling. We had originally planned a switch location near the front door, but this would have required wire mold on the front wall (solid brick), and multiple holes in the ceiling. Cooper suggested an alternate location for the switch which allowed wiring to run inside a new partition wall previously added (and was drywall, so easier to repair), and the switch is only two steps from the door, still easy to get to when getting home after dark. He was able to complete the installation with no holes in the ceiling (other than for the fixture itself), and only two small holes in the drywall, for which he left the cut-out pieces intact for us to make the repair.
Description of Work: Installed a new light fixture in the ceiling of a 1st floor room in our 120+ year old home.

Our job was so big that the electricians were there for 2 1/2 weeks. They worked very hard. Tony was on the job at 6:30 AM on many of the days. He put in extra hours on Saturday to correct an unexpected issue. Dave the other electrician deigned the lighting in the kitchen which turned out very good. There was a lot of work done and it was managed very well. The inspections went well so I know the work was done to code. I trust this company.

The technician arrived promptly. He began by checking the circuit breaker and determined that the problem was probably a circuit. He then checked each outlet in the two rooms served by that fuse and determined where the short was located. He then fixed the short. He was probably here for one and a half to two hours. Very polite, courteous, and professional.
Description of Work: We had a fuse that would not reset. He checked all outlets for source of problem and then fixed a short.
