Basement Remedy

We had a crack in our basement wall. Before, during and after Todd and Tyler explained everything step to us. They were very professional and thorough with each step. Without a doubt the nicest and most respectful group of veterans we have ever met.

What started as a simple renovation went completely awry when we discovered the extent of the foundation issues. This home butts directly to the sidewalk that connects to a fairly busy neighborhood street. Several companies came in and saw the streetside wall, which was the most in need, and gave estimates for support beam remedies. But Todd with Basement Remedy arrived with a review that was altogether different ... and thorough. Todd noticed issues that others didn't see; discussed pervasive drainage issues that would need to be corrected and developed a plan. He and his crew have added support beams to our newly updated kitchen; supported the streetside of the house and built a new wall; firmed up the backside of the house; sealed the entire exposed foundation area and tuckpointed all the foundation walls with the addition of a much needed sump pump. The crawl spaces have been completely lined and repaired where needed. You couldn't ask for a friendlier crew. Todd keeps you posted on any changes and needs as they develop ... and given the amount of rain this summer, there were needs. The Basement Remedy plan was just what this old house needed!

The company came in, researched our needs by making a thorough inspection. They left our building cleaner than they found it, performed the work outside of business hours so our constituents could continue to receive our services. Todd and Jordan came out and did the initial assessment; they were very informative, polite, and down-to-earth. Todd sent me an estimate of the work to be completed and the cost. They were able to start on it last September and completed it in the designated time frame. The workers were always very friendly, Honest, and hard-working. Would highly recommend the company to anyone who needs this kind of work done!

We had a great experience with Basement Remedy. Our front brick steps were not properly installed by the builder which allowed water to slowly make it's way into our basement. We contacted a couple companies but they were disappointing; either they would not respond to my calls or they could only complete certain aspects of the project. After much frustration, I contacted Todd from Basement Remedy. He promptly responded to my calls which alone set their company apart from the others. After inspecting the damage, Todd explained the project and that they would be able to complete ALL the steps necessary to fix the damage. Basement Remedy is a "one-stop-shop" in that I did not have to search for other people to complete the project. Todd's staff was super professional and helpful by adding suggestions to alter the curb appeal of our home. They showed up when they were scheduled. They cleaned up when they left. They are great at what they do. We have already scheduled further projects with Basement Remedy (concrete driveway install, masonry for chimney).

Leak in ceiling in front of fireplace. Called several Angie's List masons for quotes. Todd at Basement Remedy came out and did a thorough inspection of chimney. This was the only company who came in the house and went up in the crawl space, in addition to up on the roof, to inspect the chimney structure from top to bottom. It was start of winter and I needed the work done quickly before weather made it impossible. Todd said he would re-arrange his schedule to get it done. The quote was higher than some other quotes but the obvious knowledge of the issues, articulate explanation of work to be performed, ability to schedule promptly, photos of a prior client's chimney with contact info provided, and the fact the company is veteran owned made up my mind to use Basement Remedy. Project began following week. Some glitches occurred along the way. Partially the glitches were the fault of Basement Remedy because a sub-contractor re-used some stone when Todd had indicated the old stone was compromised and would be replaced, and the sub did not do the style of crown Todd had quoted. And partially the glitches were my fault because two Angie's List rated roofing companies who came out to give me quotes on finishing the flashing portion of the project did not understand they were looking at a structural stone fireplace (rather than a stone veneer chimney) and gave me bad information. However, it is when things go wrong that you find out if a company is really a good company. Basement Remedy came through with an A+ in the area of fixing a problem mid-project. Todd put his master mason on the project (he'd been on vacation the prior week when the sub was working) and they took down the problem stone and crown (back-tracked about a full-day of work) and did exactly what Todd had said would be done at the time of the estimate. The final project has new stone and the proper crown and looks nice and blends with style of old stone siding on front of house. I had no leaking over the winter. Much of this was done in cold weather, on the weekend, with snow in the forecast. Because of the weather, the chimney was not sealed. Todd called this morning to tell me they would be back out to seal the chimney in a month or so when the weather warms.

Todd, the owner of Basement Remedy, came to our house to look at some cracks in the brick mortar that we were concerned about. After a 30 minute thorough check, he determined that there was no need for significant concern, that the foundation and house structure were fine and there was no need for his services at this time. We can just monitor it for now. I appreciated his honesty and professionalism, and came away with a peace of mind about the situation. I would highly recommend him for any masonry job that one might need in the future.

Todd, the owner of Basement Remedy, inspecter my basement after our second flood. His knowledge of the situation and the information he provided allowed us to go back against the builder for repair/improvements. Without his help, we would have been faced with tens-of-thousands in out of pocket costs. To top it off, he wouldn't take payment and simply asked that we share our experience. So, here I am. Todd is honest; not all contractors are. Todd is also working for you, not for his wallet. I would - and I will - hire Todd and Basement Remedy without much other consideration.

Todd responded to my initial phone call with 15 minutes. He just happened to be working nearby and was able to stop by my home later that day to evaluate the situation. He and his employee Jordan were able to quickly determine the problems (some of which I was not aware of) and come up with effective solutions. I was pleased with how they both listened to me and explained what needed to be done. Within 48 hours Todd had emailed me a written estimate and was available when I called/texted him to ask questions and clarify the work to be done. The work was scheduled a couple of weeks out (per my request) and Todd responded quickly every time I texted asking for updates. The day work was scheduled, Jordan and Tony arrived about 40 minutes before I was told to expect them (they texted and let me know they were arriving early). They worked efficiently (in the very cold weather!) and explained everything they were doing. They did an excellent job of cleaning up and filling in where they had to dig out to lay new pipe, making sure there was plenty of dirt piled so that it would settle properly. I really appreciated their attention to detail. Todd, Jordan and Tony were all very professional, knowledgable and a pleasure to work with. Basement Remedy will be my first call for any future sump or drainage issues!

Basement Remedy was awesome to work with. We had the water issue previously "repaired" by The Basement Doctor. They replaced the drain from the downspout to the street. They didn't do it well, though, because within a couple years we had water in the house again. I called the Basement Doctor back out. The sales guy from Basement Doctor came, glanced at the corner, and said we'd now need a sump pump installed in the problem corner. This sounded a little extreme to me so I called Basement Remedy for a second opinion. Todd (Basement Remedy) came out and thoroughly inspected the situation. He pulled up the downspout from the drain and saw water sitting in the drain. It was obvious the problem was that the pipe wasn't taking the water to the street. It was sitting in the drain and when it rained it overflowed. The pipe had sunk and was no longer doing its job. I was thankful for Todd's common sense approach and annoyed that The Basement Doctor didn't even check for a simple solution. He (The Basement Dr) knew the pipe had been replaced and immediately went to a high cost plan B approach without even looking to see if the pipe they installed was working properly. I could've had The Basement Doctor back out to redo the pipe, but if they didn't do it right the first time I didn't trust them to do it again. I had Basement Remedy do the work. Todd explained how they'd do it differently and properly. The Basement Remedy guys that came were personal and professional. I was super impressed with how easy it was to get a hold of them, how quickly they returned calls, how knowledgeable they were and explained things to me, how friendly everyone was and punctual as well. Todd called after the work to follow up and make sure we were satisfied. This is how all service providers should run.

This wall was close to a septic and the work area was confined. They knew what to do and the work was done correct. I am a Design Engineer by profession and had confidence in their ability from the start. Everything turned out great!

After sending an inquiry online.... I had a message from Todd the very next morning. Todd took time out of his weekend to come assess my situation. He explained what needed to be done. Gave me a quote and was able to fit me into his schedule. I would absolutely reccomend Todd and his crew to anyone.

Very prompt and courteous! On a Sunday afternoon, I was in need of a pit dug immediately due to one of our horses dying unexpectedly. Todd called me shortly after I sent a message and said he and his son would be out that evening. Due to some problems, he said it would be after dark and was more than willing to do it then. I said the morning would be fine, and his son Tyler and his mom came promptly at 8AM. They were very sensitive to our situation (having to bury a beloved horse). Tyler did an excellent job and again, was very courteous and professional. We will definitely use them for any future excavations.
