Action Door

For several months automatic garage door would intermittently malfunction. Sensors at bottom of door would cause it to reverse and re-open. Doors would malfunction for several days, then work properly for a few days, then reverse for a week, etc. Tried adjusting sensors myself several times. Intermittent reversing problem continued. Approx 2:00 pm on July 27th I called Action Door. I told them it is NOT an emergency, but I would like to schedule someone to come out and fix my problem with the sensors. They told me they would have someone out before 5pm the same day, and would call ahead about 20-30 minutes before technician would arrive. Shortly after 3:30 pm they called, said technician would be out in about 20 minutes. Technician arrived at 4pm. Technician replaced old sensor brackets mounted on metal door tracks with new sensors mounted on wooden door frame, and longer, so the electric eye beam has about a full inch of clearance from the door itself. After successfully testing operation of the door several times, technician also oiled/lubed all door roller wheels and door panel hinges, and adjusted tension on the door opener drive chain. Finished in abou 30 minutes.

Overall, it went pretty well. I did have a glich with their answering service. I called the issue in as an emergency (Saturday morning of a holiday weekend) since I could not open the door to get my car out of the garage. Unofrtunately the answering service forwarded my call to a different Action Door location. That person called me and gave me a different, incorrect phone number for the Mentor location. Once I found the correct number and left a message with another answering service person. The man from Mentor called me back about a half hour later. He was completely professional, telling me it would be around an hour before he could get here and warning me that he may not be able to get the right parts today but he would be able to get the door open so that I could get my car. He also warned me about the charge (extra due to the Saturday/emergency call) so I wouldn't get an unexpected surprise. Dave (I think that was his name) was very, very nice and professional. He did have the spring and replaced it in a few minutes (after opening the door and allowing me to get my car out of the garage).

It went wonderfully. They were incredibly fast. I called and they had someone here in less than an hour since they had someone in my area. They were courteous and double-checked both doors, even though the problem was with one door.

. They were very responsive. They were courteous. They fixed our problem at a reasonable price. I would use them in the future. But I think there is always room for improvement.

They came later in the evening, which was my choice. Everything was fine and they got the work done. The next day I noticed there was a gap at the bottom of the door. They sent someone out the next day and fixed it at no charge. They called before they came both times. It was very good, they were punctual and did a good job.

I called them and they came quickly. They were here on time, and they finished the work quickly. Their prices were reasonable. I would recommend them to others and would use them again in the future if necessary.

It was pretty much cut and dried. There is not much I can say. I possibly will use them in the future.

It went well. The technician arrived in an Action Door truck, asked for my Angie's List coupon number, I showed him the garage door, he said there was a part missing, that's why there's a black mark down the center of the door. He said he could fix it, gave me an estimate for the repair, I gave him permission to install the part and left him to it. After about half an hour he called me out to try the door. It practically levitated when I lifted it. I asked him what I could use to clean the black mark off the door and he gave me some suggestions. I thanked him and expressed my delight at the door's ease of use and he left.

I think, because of the weather, they did an outstanding job. It was a tough day to work and they did a good job. They completed it in one day. They did it completely and they did it on budget. I wouldn't say they were the cheapest, but I wasn't necessarily looking for the cheapest.

They came out as they promised. They quoted the price and were very honest about which springs were broken and ended up actually being cheaper that what they quoted on the phone. I told them to take a look at the other parts and they told me that it might be a good idea to replace my rusty brackets which only cost $5 a piece. I decided to go ahead with that. The price they charged me was much lower than another company I had out the previous day that told me I needed to replace up to $500 worth of work. They oiled everything and answered all of my questions.

This was a very bad experience which only got resolved when the service manager and a senior tech got involved. The original technician who came out to do the work was prompt and courteous, but later that evening, the garage door would not open at all. The technician on call claimed that we must have caused the problem and quoted the company's policy that if he came out after hours to fix the door, we would have to pay time and a half. We were able to reach the service manager who had the senior tech come out the next day and fix the door without a charge. This routine service for a garage door would have been handled better if the company's policy had been to have its technician on call immediately contact the service manager and get authorization to come back out and take care of the problem without charge. Also, the technicians should be trained to check their work more carefully. (The only time we used the garage door after the technician left was to close it at which point another part broke off making it impossible to open the door.)

When I spoke with Action Door the extremely rude and abrasive representitive immediately told me that they were going to send someone out between noon and 5pm. Just before hanging up I inquired about the service fees (she was going to send someone over without telling me how much it was going to cost!) It was 82.00 just for showing up and then some kind of fee for every half hour of work. I told the rep that I just had my garage doors installed and that it may be under warranty. She said she doubted it but would look it up. After fumbling around for 5 minutes, muttering soimething about not having the right system, she told me that they only offer a one year warranty and I am 4 months past the end of warranty. I told her that I thought 1 year was a pretty lousy warrantly especially because the Action Door marketing campaign highlights the reliability and quality of their products and services (they also talk about the friendliness of their staff!). She tried to convince me that their warranty was good by saying that other companies are even worse than they are! After paying $2500 for doors just over a year ago, I am very angry that they are now malfunctioning and I am going to have to pay to get someone to look at them. Total rip-off. I do not recommend this company.

He was patient, timely, and gave us all the information that we needed. The whole process went very well. After we ordered the door, they called and let us know when it had arrived. They then came out and installed the new door flawlessly and without hassle. We were very happy with them. We had a certain budget range, and they were able to stay within that. I would certainly reccomend them to anyone.

I called Action Door to have them replace a broken spring on my garage door. They came right out the same day! The repairman said it would cost $160.00 to replace the broken spring and $228.00 to replace both springs. I decided to have both springs replaced with new springs. I ask him to put my garage door opener back on track and he did so for no extra charge! I was very happy with their service and price!

I called Action Door when the garage door would not open so I couldn't get my car out to go to work. The service person arrived in less than an hour. He discovered the wooden door had rotted & the roller came off. He was able to relocate it so I could use the door. He also gave me measurements in case I wanted to replace it. He was courteous and professional, recommending a type of door that fit my situation.

Everything went well. I called another company that said they had to order a part, and I thought this would take too long. A neighbor gave me Action Door on a Saturday and they were out early Monday morning which I appreciated.

They told me I needed a whole new system. I called someone else and this company checked the whole system out and said I had a remote that was getting accidentally pushed, they said the whole system was fine. Action Door said that the electronic unit (the brain of the system) was fried and that was not true. I have not gone back to them. They did come out promptly as soon as I called them, within an hour, but the guy didn't really know what he was talking about.

Bob came to our house to look at the job for himself (usually dispatches workers to give estimates), since the request was a little unique. He gave us the estimate and worked on the job himself with his co-worker and son-in-law Alex. They arrived on time, did the job beautifully and quickly, gave us more than we expected and did not exceed the original estimate. I can't say enough good things about the company and have recommended them to others who have had similar experiences.

The spring that helps to open and close the garage door broke and trapped our cars inside. Action Door came on site the next day and replaced the spring with a better design and a lifetime guarantee with no hassle.

Action Door scheduled a service call on the same day that I called. The technician arrived within the time frame I was given, promptly determined the source of the problem and had the garage door opener working within a very short time. The tech also reprogrammed my remotes and the keyless entry, the latter of which had not been working for some time. The tech was courteous and completed the servicing promptly. The garage door is working better than it has for quite a while. I would definitely use Action Door in the future if the need arises.

The transaction was great from the sales process through completion. The sales staff was friendly and came out quickly to give an estimate. The garage door was installed within a week of my first call to them. They did a great job installing the door and making sure it was sealed properly. Overall they did a great job.
