 + -1 moreFrank did an excellent job. He provided a written quote and stuck to it. Two other quotes were $500+ higher, and those Mason's were not very responsive. Frank dropped off the slabs in early winter and performed the work when the weather provided a window in January '06. Due to the weather at the time, he wasn't able to grout the area between the steps and sidewalk.
Description of Work: They rebuilt the entire front steps. They removed two old (1970) limestone slabs and two steps made of brick and replaced with identical materials. They removed and re-installed metal hand rails. The area the steps are in is heavily shaded and gathers a lot of algae, mildew, etc., which ate away at the steps.

He was meticulous in insisting on a good sandstone slab from his stone suppliers and, in fact, rejected two heavily veined specimens before accepting the stone that was installed. The team working on the job were seasoned professionals who were polite and careful about thorough completion and clean-up after the job. I am very satisfied with the work performed and would hire this company again in a heartbeat should I need additional masonry work.
Description of Work: Frank and his team replaced a broken sandstone slab at the front entrance of my home and also repaired a 3'x3' section of damaged brick that was revealed upon removal of a side door canopy. In addition, some cracked brick seams were repaired and the stone around the front entrance was remortared with closely matching mortar. The job required 6 hrs. for 3 workers and a thorough clean-up was done upon job completion.

Someone told me that it is supposed to look like that, but I wanted him to come out again to make sure. He hasn't come yet to do that. Overall, I was satisfied.

Approximately 8 days later I received a call from the company, requesting that I call them to describe the work I wanted done. If it took 8 days to get a return call just for an inquiry, when would the work start and be completed? I had already contracted with another company by the time this company finally responded.

 + -1 moreThe vendor took three weeks to even respond to my initial request, did an appraisal of the wrong thing, and then has ignored me after I left messages and spoke to someone who said they would relay the message. Evidently, they do not need my business.
Description of Work: The vendor did come to the house once, when nobody was at home, and left a telephone message that he didn't see anything that needed to be done. Unfortunately, he looked at the wrong thing. I called and explained the problem, and have still not heard back from him. It has been three weeks, and I have given up. I am very disappointed.

 + -1 moreFrank did an excellent job. He had two men with him to help complete the job. The price he gave me was half the cost that other contractors wanted to charge. He was extremely helpful and did a great job on the steps, sidewalk and house. I have had many compliments on my front steps as people have stopped to ask who did the work. Frank is so busy with work that it can take a couple of weeks to get an estimate, but he is well worth the wait. I definitely would hire him again to do any brick or concrete work and would refer him for any job of this nature.
Description of Work: The work performed was the replacement of the brick on my front porch steps. The old brick and mortar were cracked and turning into sand. I wanted to keep the large sandstone steps and landing but wanted all the brick supporting the steps removed and replaced. I also needed to have two square sidewalk blocks replaced on the city sidewalk as they were cracked in many places. Frank also noticed that my brick house had a large crack in the mortar from the ground up to the roof in a stair-like crack. He used a tool to remove the old cracked mortar and filled in all the cracks between the brick on my house.
