Sent Angie’s list app message with photo of repair work needed 8/17/18 - No Response. Angie’s list follow up message 8/26/18 No Response. Tried to call the number shown for frank on 8/28/18, no answer and left a message about the message I left on the app - No response. Tried one last time to contact Frank by phone on 9/10/18 and once again no answer and no response to the prior messages. What an awful way to run a business. Can you have the decency to respond? Supposedly frank is good at what he does but I’ll never find that out. Terrible.

Frank went over everything I was looking to and explained all options. He was prompt and professional.

He was able to do all repairs without a complete rebuild. He did a great job finding matching bricks and mortar. The sandstone step treads and iron railing were left in place and were not cracked at all. He was in & out in less than one day.

I cannot say enough great things about Frank. He was always prompt, fair, hard working, and his craftsmanship is second to none. He is an amazing mason who is also a great guy who is honest and reputable. People like Frank are not that common anymore; honest, fair and incredibly skilled.

I left a message for Frank and he called right away to find out what I needed and an appointment to see my stairs. He came, gave me great advise and a reasonable price. Frank said he'd be able to get it done in a couple of weeks. He may have been off his time frame a little bit, but the work was excellent. I would definitely recommend him.

I called Frank Scherer and he came to look at the job within 2 days. He told me he would do the job and asked if I were in a hurry. I told him I was not in a hurry so he called about 2 weeks later (Sunday 5/7/17) and said he would do the job the next morning. He arrived on Monday morning and completed the job. He cleaned up the area and did an excellent job.

Requested an estimate and due to my work schedule was grateful the owner was able to look at the project on a Saturday. We discussed the situation and our long-term plans for the house and he explained three different options to consider. Within a few days I had quotes for each option and elected to go the repair route vs. replacing everything. It was still a substantial job and I was worried about matching the brick but was very pleased with the results. The work was done promptly and professionally and we're very happy with the results.

It was a pleasure to do business with him. He showed up on time for every meeting and was most pleasant and informative. The day his crew came to work on my house they actually did a bit more tuck pointing than we had talked about doing. They fixed a somewhat large crack in the front porch slab that is still perfectly fixed and watertight four years later! Everything was done very well. I may need some more masonary work soon and plan to call him first.

I have an outdoor stone fireplace in my back yard. One of the limestone pieces that frame the opening was loose and I used Angie's list to search for a vendor to reattach the stone. Mr. Scherer lived close by so I called and left a message. This was in December. After approximately two weeks with no reply, I called and left another message. A few days later, a lady returned my call, took my contact information, and indicated someone would be in touch about looking at the fireplace and getting an estimate. It is now early February and I have not heard back. There have been several warm days when this repair could have been done. I located another vendor who was able to complete the repair. He was recommended by a neighbor. He was responsive, on time, and offered fair prices.

Workmanship was excellent and we are very pleased with the job. Only complaint is on how long it took to get started. We signed the contract last fall and the job did not get started until May of this year. Yes, there were weather issues, blah, blah, blah, but 6 plus months is a long time.

Everything was amazing! I'm very OCD and it was great to work with a business that was on the ball with calling back and keeping me in the loop with details. They worked with our time schedules and got the job done quick and perfect.

When I called initially, I think his wife answered phone. She was very polite, and took down all my information, but said that she wasn't sure if I was in his service area. I live in Mayfield Village, in Cuyahoga County, right off the I-271 freeway. Anyways, his wife phoned me two days later to inform me that I was not in his service area. If this is true, his listing here on Angie's List should reflect that - on here, it says Cuyahoga County and parts of Lake and Geneva County. If the real reason he didn't want to give me an estimate was that he was too busy already or it was too small a job, I would rather that he tell me that. So far, however, I have contacted four masons from Angie's List for an estimate, and he was the only one that has responded to date. So, I give him credit for that.

I called twice to talk about what I need to have done. Second time got spouse who said she would have him call. No return calls. Not a professional. Angie's List is a joke.

Frank did a great job at a fair price. I would use him again.

He matched the original color and did a neat job. The price was fantastic as well. It took him a while to return my initial call, but that is the sign of a busy contractor. I would use him again and happily recommend him to anyone.

Work will be completed in the spring.

We started looking into rebuilding our chimney in the fall of 2011. Frank's was one of 3 estimates. It was a little difficult getting his estimate, as he was very busy in that time frame and we had to call a few times. With the good weather this spring, we were ready for the job. Frank was very responsive in getting back to us and scheduling the work. He was able to start the week after we called. The job took about 4 days. He took care during tear down so that he wouldn't damage the firebox. Fortunately, that was in good condition and no extra work was required. He suggested a variety of brick colors that we otherwise would not have considered. The work crew was punctual, friendly and professional. The chimney looks wonderful. Great clean-up too.

I read some of the other reviews that gave a grade of F on here and just think they were a little impatient. He's busy and that's a good thing. If you want quick service, you will definitely sacrifice quality. This is my opinion. It took about a month for Frank to get out to complete the job after the estimate. Not unreasonable at all to me. Frank arrived with two of his workers exactly when he said he would and it took them about 6 hours to complete the job. The chimney no longer leaks and looks great. Frank and his crew were very polite and down to earth, very nice to talk to and ask questions. I highly recommend Frank to anyone who needs masonry or chimney work.

First contact and estimate time were responsive and professional. Frank has an assistant, Lori, who helps keep him organized. This is the main difference I am finding with all contractors. Lori called me with frequent updates. This is not a complaint, but the entire process took roughly 8 weeks from the original contact. I say this only to set expectations for new/potential customers. I see many reviews on here about people complaining about how long it took to get an estimate and for the actual work to be done. I am a reasonable person and I understand that good weather means these guys are busy. I also understand that in the relative scheme of things, my job was small and I was grateful to have someone complete. As long as I had it done by winter, I was going to be understanding. With that said, I am very happy with my experience with Frank. Everything was professional, the quality of the work performed was excellent, and I will not hesitate to recommend him to others and use in the future.

Mr. Scherer's secretary contacted me within 2 days of my initial phone call/message to get more information. She said that she would relay the information to Mr. Scherer and that he would contact me to set up an appointment. It's been over a week and I haven't heard from him.

I contacted this business in March for an estimate for some general brick repair. I was contacted a few weeks after my initial email detailing my interest, however they were not able to schedule an estimate due to Frank's unavailability. Frank's office kept in contact every few weeks indicating that Frank was still very busy and he was unavailable for an estimate of work. With my residence easily located 10-15 min away from their office location, I was finding it difficult to understand why it was so hard to schedule an estimate. I was contacted in late June regarding the work I was looking to be performed (~4 months after I was first contacted) . I respectfully informed Frank's office how disappointed and annoyed with their lack of interest for my business. While Frank could perform great craftsmanship, I will never know. How unfortunate.

We experienced rain falling into our fireplace during a couple of intense rainstorms. On one occasion it also leaked onto the ceiling in our family room. The problem area was the chimney. Through Angie's list, we contacted two bricklayers to determine needed repairs and to write estimates. Both described the same problems and wrote estimates. We chose Frank Scherer for several reasons. 1) He has his own crew of workers that he trusts and can rely on. 2) Even though he was busy working, his wife took our calls or called us back when we had questions, 3) His was the lower estimate. Frank and two of his men arrived exactly on time at 8:00AM. After erecting scaffolding they quickly began the repair. The cracked mortar cap at the top was removed and replaced. Broken and loose bricks were replaced. In several areas the mortar was cracked and leaking so it was removed and remortared. Once the work was completed, the scaffolding was removed and the area was cleaned up. Frank took the time to explain what had been done and said if we had questions or concerns about anything we should contact him. He is a pleasant, polite man and we were very pleased with the work that was done. We highly recommend Frank Scherer.

I asked this provider if he would look at a situation on my foundation and he has yet to even contact me. I am very disappointed, as one of the reasons I chose him was because he was practically a neighbor and it would be an easy stop for him to make, as well as so many good comments about him and his work. I think if you're not interested, at least a phone call would be in order.

Frank and his teams were amazing. Their offer was very competitive pricewise, they did the job in one day and the results were perfect. Truly professional.

Frank came out and gave me an estimate. He told me it was a small job for him and that he would do it when he had time between bigger jobs. This was fine with me as long as it got done before winter which he assured me it would. The side of the porch looks great now. I was very satisfied with the work done.
