Description of Work: I called and left a detailed message to obtain an estimate for work on an empty house consisting of a tile floor and ceiling drywall. i did not receive a call back and phoned the following evening, reaching Dave and explaining that not only did I need work performed, but my daughter also needed a quote as well. I explained she lived very close by and he was agreeable to provide her a quote after mine. He scheduled an appointment for 5 PM Thursday evening, which essentially was the next day and the time he proposed. He was provided with two numbers to reach us, my cell phone and my daughter's home number. Approximately 3:00 PM my cellphone had an internal board go bad, and i knew he had the other number, so i continued to wait from 5:00 PM to 5:25 PM. I decided to leave him a note on the door, and drove to my daughter's house to call Dave. I got his answering machine to the home/business number and explained that I had been waiting at the address, the problem with the cell phone, and that he had my daughter's number. i was afraid that he was trying to call me or he was running late. i went back to the house requiring the work and waited about another 20 minutes. Again, I ran back to my daughter's and phoned again. No answer, only the machine. My daughter tried to call two more times because we were afraid that Dave was running late, and I would miss him. Approximately 6:30 PM, she phoned and Dave picked up. She explained that we had an appointment and he was very rude stating he left a message that he wasn't coming. He also said that because we called four times, he considered that a bad sign, and he wasn't going to do any work for us now! He hung up on her! All we were trying to do was make sure he wasn't inconvenienced because of the distance he would have to drive. Obviously, he was screening the calls to know how many times we called. He was very unprofessional and definitely did not present himself in a business-like manner! This is the rudest treatment I have ever experienced in this line of business.

Dave and his helper were extremely courteous, cleaned up after their work, and were generally a pleasure to have in my home. I could not have been more pleased with the entire experience. I would highly recommend this service provider for any service. If he tells you he can do it, you can rely on him at his word.

Description of Work: He reset the front door. Before it was difficult to latch, as the catch did not line up. He also caulked the entire assembly to seal out the weather.

Description of Work: Dave was contacted to look at a window and a ceiling repair- about a 12" square hole the plumber had left. He could not do the window repair but did set up a time and day to do the ceiling repair. On that day, he called to say he would be late. He arrived and completed the repair. He was professional. I appreciate his honesty that he did not feel the window repair was something he could do. The repair looked good.

The project took over a week as he was working some other clients at the same time and he made sure to communicate as to when he'd be working on my house. I'd hire Dave again for any handywork I needed.

He was able to remove the wallpaper and then repair and paint the walls. An excellent job! We definitely will hire him again when we need work done.

+ -1 moreThe initial estimate was wonderful! Dave was personable, knowledgeable and thorough. We dithered on paint colors and didn't request he do the work until 11 days after the estimate. We called him on a holiday and left a message. Much to our delight, Dave returned our call promptly. Unfortunately, that's when the trouble began. Sherwin-Williams (his requested paint) was having a sale that ended today. It was 30% off on paint so we bought some; enough for two of the five rooms we wanted to have painted. We told Dave that we would like to hire him to paint our house but that we would like a revised estimate based on the fact we would be supplying some of the paint. Oh. My. Gosh. Touched a nerve there! He angrily said that his price is his price and that he doesn’t negotiate, then HE HUNG UP ON US!
Description of Work: None. Couldn't get to "you're hired" before he hung up on me.

I'm certainly glad I did. You couldn't ask for more serious and professional handymen than Dave and his helper Ryan. The refacing was completed within 3 days, and it is stunning. I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this guy, and I will definitely use him for any jobs I have in the future.
Description of Work: I have a floor to ceiling brick fireplace that I wanted refaced (upper half covered with drywall and the lower have with ceramic tiles).

At that time, he reviewed the shower and vanity top that I was going to order to ensure that it would work, as well as, made measurements to give me an estimate of the floor tile that I would need. Once I got and delivery date on the ordered items, Dave was very easy to get ahold of and we scheduled the work. Once scheduled, Dave and Ryan completed the work within the timeframe that they provided me. Dave provided me daily updates of the progress, as well. The finished install was a very high quality of work.
Description of Work: Dave's Handyman Service completed a bathroom upgrade that included: 1. Removal of existing shower, floor tile, carpet, and vanity top. 2. Installation of New Shower and Door. 3. Installation of glass accent tile and floor tile. 4. Repair of Drywall, Priming and Painting.

+ 1 moreDave and his crew were professional, and they did the work on-time and on-budget. They cleaned up after themselves when they were finished. From start to finish, the job took about three weeks - and the price was fair. The paint lines are sharp and clean. Some of the rooms needed a second coat of paint - I specified which rooms I wanted to have additional paint and Dave took care of it within the scheduled timeline (he charged for the extra coat of paint). Their tile work is very nice - I requested a diamond pattern in each room and it really looks great. I was having some problems ordering a custom counter top from Lowe's (Lowe's tried to charge me $2000 to install 20 linear feet of mid-grade laminate counter top). I had Dave do it for less than half of this price, and he helped me cut a custom chopping block for one end of the counter - I really appreciated this. Overall, I am satisfied with Dave's service, and I will use them again this spring for some additional work.
Description of Work: Dave's Handyman Service painted our living room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms (2), upstairs bedroom and closets, and hallways (walls, ceilings, trim, and new outlets/switches in each room). They re-tiled the basement, kitchen, entry way, and lower bathroom. They installed new kitchen counter tops (laminate), and installed the kitchen sink, faucet, garbage disposal, and dishwasher. In each bathroom, they installed bathroom vanities, toilets, and typical bathroom fixtures. In the downstairs bathroom, they installed a new bathtub faucet and shower head.

Being a perfectionist, I could find flaws in some of his work, but overall he is top notch and probably would have fixed the flaws if I had brought it up.

+ 2 moreWe have been satisfied with him. He seems to be very knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. He has been prompt. I do not have any reason not to call him back. He seems to be very professional. I think he might be a little expensive but I don?t have any other quote to compare him with.
Description of Work: I have used Dave's Handyman Service Llc/Dave Williamson once before and have reported about that. I used him again after that during last summer. My daughter has also used him. He replaced the toilet which was leaking and replaced some flooring. He also did some other little extra things around the bathroom.

+ 2 moreThis was the most professional person I've ever had in my home. Dave and his assistant Ryan were always on time and worked the whole time they were there. Dave would call if he was going to be delayed. He would discuss with me any oddities he found (and he found many as my house is 90 years old) and give me reasonable options. He was completely trustworthy in my house alone, while I ran errands or took care of personal business. His final bill was the estimate, plus any extras we discussed before he did the work. I will definitely call him when I save up for the other repairs I need done.
Description of Work: Put drywall on the ceiling in the basement. Removed old window ledge from 3 windows. Retrimmed around front door. Sanded old plaster wall in stairway to smooth it out. Primed and painted walls in stairway. Installed recessed light above shower.
