Dave's Handyman Service

I had him service my garage door. One month later, it stopped working. I called him and set up an appointment to come back and fix it. He never showed up or called to cancel. Poor customer service. (If you don't know how to fix something, just be honest instead of ghosting the customer.)

We contacted Dave about handling a diverse list of projects, including entry door repairs, new lockset installation, light fixture replacements, mailbox installation, and constructing a wooden meter cover. His proposal was reasonable and his communication with us was outstanding from start to finish. He completed each project carefully and to our complete satisfaction. When he ran into a problem with one project, he immediately talked with us about solutions and found one that worked perfectly. He is skilled, polite, communicative, creative, and patient. He is without any hyperbole, one of the finest contractors I've ever had the pleasure to work with and I absolutely plan to use his services again in the future.

Called Dave after seeing his reviews on Angie's List. Dave arrived on time and quoted a price for replacing a rotted out window sash on a large specialty window. He immediately went to get the materials and returned to finish the project within a couple of hours. Window looks great, paint matched, and saved me a lot of money compared to having to replace the window. Great guy, knows what he is doing and would highly recommend.

After a few bumps getting started, Dave did a wonderful job installing our new entry door and screen door. He cleaned up well afterward and was respectful of my house and property. We requested a special purchase from a particular store for the doors and I think in the future I would just let Dave get whatever he feels will fit according to our needs. I was pleased with the work Dave did.

He was able to complete the work without any problems.

Dave did a fantastic job. He painted the interior rooms, patched and painted ceilings, installed a dog door, and built a wall shelf. Everything was completed professionally and looked great. His prices were reasonable. We will use his services again.

We've hired Dave for various jobs over the last 6 years. We were exceptionally pleased with this job. I had trouble finding anyone who had experience with doing this kind of re-coating on a textured driveway. Dave researched it, color matched it, and did an outstanding job. I've had people stop to say how great it looks and I know the neighbor was looking into it too from seeing it.

We hired Dave to install some ceramic plank tile in our great room. He showed up when he said he would and measured, then provided us with his price to complete the job. We checked around and his price seemed pretty reasonable so we hired him. Prior to starting he came by one more time to view the floor and commented that he was very pleased with the demolition of the previous tile and that we had prepared the floor very well for him. He had told us initially that he planned on it taking three days to complete the project but after the first day, which was on a Monday, he said it would actually take four days which was fine with us, no mention of any additional cost. However when he arrived Thursday morning he promptly told me it was going to take an additional day and that he would have to come back on Monday to finish the grouting because he had another project that he was supposed to start on Friday. I was very aggravated by that because we had several people lined up to help us over the weekend install new kitchen cabinets and help us to reach a minimum level of functionality in our kitchen, as it had been over a week since we had running water or ability to cook. I regret now not insisting that the he finish our project before he moved to another one but I didn't even though I felt it was completely unacceptable to cause us a delay in order to accommodate a new customer. He came back on Monday and finished the project and then presented a *revised* bill which plainly stated " 1 day additional labor $400.00". I refused to pay the additional labor because it was not our fault that he had underestimated the timeline for this project and in fact he had taken two extra days. We had changed nothing and there had been no unexpected problem with the project, it simply took more time than he had anticipated. We had a rather heated discussion but managed to end the conversation on a civil note. Dave did a good job installing the tile although there are several areas where the tiles are not level which he explained was a raised area in the concrete floor underneath but previous tile that had been there was level so I am not sure if that explanation is accurate. He also laid the tile in a pattern that is not recommended by the manufacturer as was plainly stated on the box. My husband was very unhappy about that but we did not specify how we wanted it installed so we accept the responsibility for lack of communication. To end on a positive note I do want to say that the flooring we had selected had approximately four to five different variation of tiles and rather than lay them haphazardly, he took the time to open several boxes and lay the tile in the most aesthetically pleasing manner which looks absolutely beautiful.

it went great! From the very beginning, Dave called me when he said he was going to call to go over what was needed. The price was great. I have received quotes with higher price. once I decided to hire day for the project, he said it would take Monday through Friday, and he was correct. he started the project on Monday and finished early Friday. if there was a reason he was going to be late he would call, he was very respectful. the work he did was quality work. I love my new bathroom thanks to Dave! I would really recommend him to do any job needed in your house!

Dave was able to install the toilet the same day that I called. (That may not be the norm, depending on what other projects he is working on; he told me he is doing a full bathroom renovation next week.) He arrived at the agreed upon time. The install went flawlessly. Dave got right to work, very down-to-business. Once the install was complete, we had a nice chat and he took a look at a lighting switch for us. I found his pricing reasonable. I am very happy with Dave and his work; I'm looking forward to hiring Dave for other "handyman" projects.

I am so very happy with Dave's work. Great attitude, nice polite guy. He even talked me through a temporary fix on one of my projects over the phone until he could get to me. I will definitely have him back! So happy to have found someone reliable.

He knewe what to do, did it quickly, and cleaned up aftertward.

Overall great experience. Dave was great to work with. Quality of work was good, a little more cracking of the glass and some tiles not evenly cut, but really minor issues that can only be seen if you look for them.

His work is amazing, his prices are great and he got it all done in half a day!

Dave was very rude to me. He insisted that landlords do not pay enough. I view my homes as investments and am after good quality work. I pay my contractors very well and am easy to work with.

Everything was smooth. They were on time and worked efficiently. I was completely pleased with their work and plan to hire them again.

Everything was completed with the utmost quality and professionalism. We were more than pleased with the entire project. We absolutely will have him back for other work.

I left a voicemail. He called by 4 p.m. and said he would be by the next day between 5 and 5:30. He was a no call, no show and I waited until 6:45 thinking maybe his last appointment went over. He still hasn't called me and it's been a week. I looked past his B rating because he was in my area and a veteran, but this is just poor customer service. Why didn't I call him? I don't feel I should have to call to remind a professional about their job. This company will go down on my do not call list and if someone asks, I will spread the word.

Very professional and quality service. Unlike some handyman service, he actually showed up when promised, and knew his expertise and limitations.

Dave was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I was very happy with every aspect of his business. I would recommend his services to friends and family. I would not hesitate to contact him again for any projects that come up around my house.

I can't comment on the quality of his work because he did not complete any work for me. I called Dave and he said he would show up for a quote after his work day ended at 4:30 pm. He did show up and rang the bell, but he was earlier then expected. At the same time my phone rang, and I was trying to get my dog in her kennel. Both of these took approximately 5 minutes. By that time, Dave had left my door and went back to his truck. While his truck was still by my house I called his cell phone and texted him. Both were ignored and he drove away. I left him 2 more messages on his cell phone over the next hour and a text which were ignored. His lack of response because I could not get to the door fast enough and driving away when I was trying to reach him earned him F on professionalism.

It went very well, we were pleased with his service and he did an excellent job.

Would have loved to have been given the chance to grade his work.

Told me he would give me a quote for a job. Called me to cancel an hour before he had scheduled to meet with me.Didn't even attempt to reschedule. Very unprofessional.
