+ -1 moreBasically Jeff and Shawn were recommended to us by friends. We found them to be pleasant and professional to work with from beginning to end. They talked us through the design process, tore out the old bath, constructing and installing the new one. The tile work is lovely. They are craftsmen who care about the quality of the work they do so everything is done well. They clean up the construction mess each day before they leave so the process is less disruptive than it could be. They are willing to do what the customer wants, but they are also willing to make suggestions and to offer a variety of possibilities as to how something can be done. Throughout the process we felt they really wanted us to be happy with the result. Basically, these folks know their work, they are craftsmen, and they are nice people. We would engage them again for other remodeling jobs.
Description of Work: Jeff and Shawn tore out a tub, vanity and sink, old flooring, cultured marble tub walls, lighting, exhaust fan, tub doors. They insulated and waterproofed; tiled walls and floor; installed new vanity, sink top, lighting, exhaust fan, grab bars; ran electricity; painted.

+ -1 moreFollowing evaluation of three larger firms, owner hired Jeff Berger owner of Berger Building Services as the general contractor on a complete master bath renovation with a budget of about $ 24,000. Berger: Building Services: removed and reinstalled an exterior energy efficient window in a stucco wall, performed the complete bath demolition down to the subfloors and material removal, removed the old bath appliances, framed a new ceiling to floor interior closet, an in-shower seat and a new rectangular tub deck, relocated and installed new plumbing and installed new bath appliances and fixtures, installed a new custom vanity, repaired sheetrock walls, and painted the entire space. Berger also supervised the laying of new tile in enlarged shower and on the bath floors and walls. The Berger Team paid special attention to safety, cleanliness and timeliness. Since the overall job, from delivery of materials to the site to job completion, had an elapsed time of about 6 weeks, and the mater bath is located within the master bedroom area, daily use of the master bedroom was mandatory. Working for a retired Chemical Engineer (the Project Owner) the team did an excellent job in the overall quality of their work and in these three important attributes. Jeff is also an excellent communicator. Jeff was also creative and made a number of good suggestions to further optimize the overall bath re-design which was prepared by the owner. Following completion of the project, the owner recommended Berger Building Services to two close friends who used Berger Building Services to completely renovate another master bath and to repair a second story bath that was leaking below. Owner strongly recommends Berger Building Services, rates their work as excellent and their pricing as very fair.

+ 3 moreWe could talk positively and endlessly about Berger Building Services! Jeff Berger and Shawn Figuero were absolute pleasures to work with! They were always professional,courteous, and punctual. They are extremely skilled and talented! Except for the drywalling of the ceilings and making and installing the cabinetry, they did all of the work themselves! They had pride in all they did, making sure each task was done perfectly down to the smallest details! They were such hard workers! They were clean! At the end of each day they left all work areas spotless! An added bonus was that they each had a great sense of humor! They were wonderful guys who were a pleasure to be around! We enjoyed every day of this extensive project! Many, many thanks to Jeff Berger and Shawn Figuero of Berger Building Services for a job well done! We can't wait to work with them again on future projects!
Description of Work: Jeff Berger and Shawn Figuero of Berger Building Services initially met with us to discuss remodeling plans. From the beginning until the end they were always professional, prompt, and courteous. They collaborated with us to come up with the perfect remodeling plan. We were provided with a written estimate in a most timely manner. We had met with several companies but chose Berger Building Services based on their professionalism, fair pricing, and outstanding recommendations. Berger Building Services completely remodeled our kitchen and dining area, guest bathroom, and laundry room. Work was also done in the foyer, back hall, and family room. The remodeling was done in the fall of 2011. All existing flooring, drywall, cabinetry, countertops, and appliances were removed. Ceilings were removed and raised in several rooms. Kitchen closets and walls were removed. Plumbing and electrical work were involved. Pipes and wires needed to be moved when ceilings were raised. Much electrical work was also done when lighting was added and existing lighting was relocated. New porcelain tile flooring was installed throughout all areas. Custom porcelain tile backsplashes were installed in the kitchen and dining areas. All new appliances including a commercial style range, commercial exhaust fan, wall oven, microwave, warming drawer, and dishwasher were installed in the kitchen along with sinks. Granite countertops were installed in the kitchen, dining areas, bathroom, laundry room, and family room. A new toilet, exhaust fan, and sinks were also installed in the bathroom and laundry room. Custom cabinetry was made and installed in the kitchen, dining area, bathroom, and laundry room. All new custom trim work was installed throughout all rooms. Extensive new lighting, including under cabinet and canned lighting, was done in all rooms. Custom decorative painting was done in the foyer along with traditional painting in all other areas. New pocket doors were installed between the kitchen and foyer and also into the laundry room. All new door knobs and handles were installed on entry doors. + 0 moreThe interior project went extremely well. The first time we met with Jeff we discussed doing some of the work ourselves. Jeff was very willing to work with us and offered helpful suggestions. It was decided we would stain the new wood ourselves and Jeff would do the removal and new installation. Jeff removed the carpet, doors, and trim and hauled them away leaving no mess behind. The quality of his work was excellent. The new wood floor is beautiful and squeak free. The doors and trim are well aligned and work beautifully. The stairs required Jeff to do a lot of cutting, shaping and trimming and the result looks custom made. He did such an outstanding job that when it was time to replace our old deck, Berger Building Services was the first contractor we called. After speaking with several contractors we decided to hire Jeff again. He had the best ideas and a very competitive price. On the deck project Jeff did it all. He was very knowledgeable about the various deck materials' pros and cons, such as cost, maintenance, durability and looks. When he presented his design idea we loved it. As with the first project, Jeff gave us a time frame for starting and completing the job and he stayed within that time frame. The old decking material was hauled away and at the completion of the new deck our yard looked great. We went with a low maintenace composite deck with an aluminum railing and we couldn't be happier with it. It not only looks great but will last for years with little effort on our part. Jeff is easy to talk to, doesn't make promises he can't keep, and has great ideas. He pays attention to the little details that are so important to making the finished project look great. The quality of his work is outstanding and his price is very competitive. He showed up when he said he would, completed his projects within the given time frame and always cleaned up his work area. Overall I would have to say we are very satisfied with the quality of his work and his prices. We will definitely hire Berger Building Services for future projects.
Description of Work: Berger Building Services has provided two separate services for us. The first project he completed was in 2006 and it consisted of first removing our living room carpeting, baseboards, door trim and interior hallway doors, plus an entryway closet door. Then he installed hardwood flooring, including steps, and matching trim and doors, including a sliding closet door. More recently in 2010, he removed our old wooden deck and designed and built a new composite deck with an aluminum railing.

+ 1 moreThe door went in as planned, but the grids did not fit the glass! Jeff made all contacts with the retailer and the manufacturer and stayed on top of the situation until it was satisfactorily resolved, and he kept me in the loop at all times. He really went above and beyond. With our big master bath and closet blowout we could not be happier. Once the walls came down Jeff and I worked together to figure out just how much more space we could get. The project was done on time, on budget and exceeded our expectations in terms of space, craftmanship and Jeff's attention to detail. Jeff has also rebuilt our deck stairs, and done several other smaller projects for us. He is such a professional and really cares about what he does and the customer's satisfaction.
