Norbert is the very best!! I bought angies list account just for the reason of finding someone good to refinish wood floors. I am so glad I did! norbert did an excellent job of refinishing our 1932 old pine floors and 20 year old oak floor in the kitchen. they look like new! no dust! thank you norbert and nora, heather

From the first phone call, we were impressed. They answered promptly, arrived exactly on time for the estimate and were very accommodating on scheduling. As the time for the work arrived, they were in contact and ahead of schedule. The work on the flooring was far better than expected and Nori was professional about everything, which is so important when someone is working in your home. They promised 24/7 service and this is true! I called late at night with varnish colors and they answered and were right on it. We were SO impressed and would recommend them to anyone. This is the work of a craftsman combined with the business sense of a CEO.

He was punctual during the 5 day project, cleaned up daily (although he produced so little dust during the sanding there was not much to clean up), and the floors look as good or better than when we had them installed many years ago. We will certainly be having him back to handle similar work on our other wood floors throughout our home.

Norbert arrived when he said for an estimate. He told us when he would be able to complete the work.Once he began the work, his wife communicated each evening what would be happening the following day. The sanding caused almost no dust. He was very neat and meticulous. The floors are beautiful! He also finished a window ledge that had water damage. Everything exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend his services.

Norbert did an excellent job replacing damaged wood planks and refinishing the entire wood floor. His price was fair, he was timely, and his craftsmanship was one of the finest we would've hoped for. He used state of the art equipment which minimized the amount of saw dust in the house. He is one of the best. Norbert is a true craftsman.

I cannot say anything negative about Norbert. Arrives when he says he will. Minimal dust (amazingly so). Perfect staining and the seal coat has lasted for years.

Norbert did a wonderful job. He was on time and was very clean with his work. He doesn't use cheap material that he provided which is awesome. Made sure everything was clean before he leave. Old World Carpentry is a Superior Business. The Owner, and his wife, are extremely professional and helpful. Everything was done on time, with advanced notice. His workmanship is exceptional. He takes great pride in his work, and it shows. He is very helpful with suggestions for stains, finish, etc. With such a large sanding job, we had no dust at all. Our floors look incredibly beautiful, and we couldn't be happier. Both my husband and I would highly recommend Old World Carpentry.

I am extremely happy with the work that Norbert on our hardwood floors! He refinished our hardwood floors in our upstairs hallway and 2 of our bedrooms. He replaced some of the boards that were loose and broken. He is a true professional and expert craftsman. He treats your home as if it is his own and takes pride in his work. Nora (his wife who answered our calls and does the scheduling) was wonderful to deal with as well- she is super nice, very responsive and professional. The pricing was definitely fair and reasonable. And there was no dust!!! (We have a 90+ year old house with creaky hardwood floors but now our newly finished floors hardly creak anymore- it's fabulous!) We had contacted Norbert through our research on Angies List and were quite impressed with what people had to say about Norbert and his work. We had contacted his lovely wife Nora who is extremely pleasant and she set up an appointment for him to come out and give us an estimate. He came out promptly to give us an estimate and advise on what type of wood to purchase and where to purchase it. He is very knowledgeable about his work and we felt very comfortable with him immediately. He is a very kind person and extremely easy to work with. We decided to go with Norbert. We had a little bit of a wait because he is an extremely busy man but he is well worth the wait. Unfortunately there is not enough Norbert to go around! He is very neat and meticulous in his work. He cleaned up everyday at the end of his work day and never left a mess. Norbert never cut corners and is very dedicated to a high level of craftsmanship. We are extremely pleased with our floors. He did an outstanding job and we are so glad we had them done. The whole process we felt went very well. His wife Nora kept us informed on everything. They both are the nicest people to work with and we would highly recommend them.

Old World Carpentry is extremely prompt and professional. From the initial call, handled professionally and personably by the wife of the carpenter/owner of the company, through to the estimate and on to the actual work, everything went wonderfully well.

Great customer service from his wife to set up the time for him to come out. He was punctual and friendly and professional. Although I don't remember exactly how much I paid, at the time it seemed like a really reasonable amount for the time he was here. I would absolutely call him again for future work.

Norbert was the last contractor we contacted for a quote on refinishing our hardwood floors (we had 6 quotes) and I am glad we did! He was punctual for his first appointment and although he started the job a few days late because of an illness he had, once he got going Norbert was most professional, courteous, hard working person I have met and had do any work for me in many years. My wife will tell you I am a perfectionist, as well as having spent 35 yrs in the paint & coatings industry with an extensive knowledge of the process and products used. He knows his business and is very accomplished at what he does. Norberts' wife, Nora coordinates all communications and does so in a timely & professional manner. The work was first class and that of a true craftsman. He arrived on time everyday, was very conscientious, worked diligently and is trustworthy. He was very organized and clean up daily, even during all the sanding that took place. Norbert told us that it would be near dust free, but we actually did not think it was possible and covered our electronics and piano. We later found out that we did not need to do that, we subsequently removed those coverings while the job was in progress. The floors came out beautifully. A great experience from start to finish, I would highly recommend Norbert to anyone.

Norbert came in and took a well worn, 84 year old floor and turned it into something emaculate as if it were brand new. His price is very reasonable. He did exactly what he said he would do in the time that he said it would take. He did some repairs beyond what he quoted. He cares about his work and it thoroughly shows. I would recommend him to anyone and I will gladly bring him back to do any other hardwood floor work in the future.

Two words: NO DUST! Having had floors redone before, I diligently covered everything with plastic, only to find that it was not necessary. There was truly no dust whatsoever. Both Norbert and Nora are very pleasant to deal with. Work started as scheduled and was completed as scheduled. Norbert was very punctual, very thorough and very professional. I would not hesitate to recommend his work to anybody. The house is being remodeled, so Norbert had a key to it and was free to choose his own work hours. All work was completed on the agreed upon date. I am a very happy customer.

Our 135+ year old hard wood floors look amazing! We are so pleased with Norbert's work that we have him booked for next month to refinish another room in our home. Work began right around the time I was quoted. There were several occasions that I was not able to be here when Norbert was working and I felt completely comfortable leaving a key for him and letting him enter and work alone in my home. He spent several days sanding while using multiple tools and a vacuum so there was no dust in my home. I picked out several colors of stain and Norbert helped me to choose the one that would look best on my flooring. I was also given my choice of finish.

Norbert did an amazing job installing our floors. We had two rooms that needed carpet removed in order to place the flooring. It took him only one day per room to finish those areas. He even went to the store and got trim to place along the walls! Our kitchen had stone tile that needed to be taken up and when he started on this he found that there were several layers of flooring that would need to be removed before he could install the hardwood. I'm sure that he spent probably triple the time he was expecting to spend because it was so difficult to remove but he was really great about it. He was very committed to doing the best work possible. Even though I know he had to be behind schedule he took the time to recommend and place molding around our kitchen cabinets. Norbert is also very professional; he arrived early every day, worked incredibly hard and meticulously cleaned up at the end of each day. (He's also a really nice guy!) It was a completely wonderful experience all around and I would definitely recommend him!

Norbie gave us an estimate on the project and stayed right on target throughout the job. He is an absolute joy to have as a craftsman. He truly acts as if he were doing the work for his own house. Very punctual and detail oriented. NEVER left any sort of a mess behind, and was always pleasant and cheerful. We definitely plan to use his services again in a year or so for a kitchen remodel.. His wife Nora, who does his scheduling, was a great person to deal with as well.. Very friendly. I cannot say enough good things about the work he performed, only that I was glad I found him on Angie's List.

My phone calls were answered immediately by a helpful person. He came out only a day or so after I called. He was polite, friendly, and professional. I can't believe he only charged me $50. I would absolutely call him again and recommend him.

He was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I was impressed. I got him off of Angie's List, and we're very pleased. He took his time and did the work correctly. His punctuality and professionalism were excellent. He had to do extra work because the floor wasn't level. He made sure it was level and did an excellent job.

He and his wife work. She does the office work and he goes out and installs the flooring. His name is Norbert Haberbusch. He is excellent. He gets here and he sizes up the job. His work ethic was just incredible. He worked non-stop cutting and putting the floor down. He didn't make any mistake at all. My husband is a real perfectionist. That was the first time my husband said it was a wonderful job. Norbert is actually from Hungary, so when he first started he couldn't speak that much English. His wife is American though. He just does a wonderful job. I don't know how much he charged for his services because my husband handles all that. I can say that it was reasonable. The price included the wood he ordered and the labor he did. It must have been a really good amount because my husband wouldn't have had him start if it wasn't. His clean-up was perfect.

Amazing experience, Norbie came promptly at 8am each day, work was exacting and careful, three full days of installation, it looks beautiful, this artisan is a dream to work with. Quiet unassuming but so very helpful. Will not leave one piece of dirt or dust. I hugged him and cried when the job was finished, as hardwood floors have been my dream since we moved in. Nora his wife was just great to work with and schedule the work. This is a fantastic "old world artisan" and we are having him back to do a bedroom office early 2011. Have recommended him to friends and family. WONDERFUL!!!

We interviewed 3 firms for the floor re-finishing project. Old World Carpentry not only came in with the lowest quote but also demonstrated a commitment to quality that was very important to us. Norbert Haberbusch IS Old World Carpentry. A native Hungarian, he is a perfectionist when it comes to re-finishing floors. So much so, that he works by himself because he has found that employees don't do work of a quality that is up to his standards. That attitude was a big plus as far as we were concerned. Norbert worked assiduously throughout the re-finishing project which took roughly 3 weeks. He was very helpful, always courteous, always prompt and always cleaned up when his day's work was done. He had to insert a wooden strip of flooring between our wood floors and our two tiled bath rooms. These "transitions" were so professionally done that they look as if they were put in when the house was first built. When re-finishing the stairs, Norbert recommended that we add some wooden trim below each step. That improved the appearance of the stairway. He did not charge us for the installation--only for the cost of the trim which was very reasonable. In the room on our ground floor that Norbert re-finished, we discovered that the backing of an area rug had somehow eaten through portions of the stained flooring. Norbert recommended that we get a special carpet pad for the rug and went to a Home Depot a few miles away and purchased it for us in order to protect the re-finished floor. Again, we only paid for his out-of-pocket cost. The floors look absolutely beautiful! Norbert did a superb job. We couldn't be more pleased and have had many compliments from friends on his workmanship. Should we ever decide to remove additional carpeting in our home and re-finish the floors in those rooms, we won't consider any firm other than Old World Carpentry.
