+ -1 moreOur old one was installed incorrectly in the first place by some amateur plumbers who built our house. We tried to do the work ourselves and purchased the materials, etc. The plumber, Matt, who did the work, did not mind using our product, although he did offer original equipment, Moen, as a replacement. It took a little longer than expected, but it looks very professional and beautiful. He was actually early for our appointment, which was good. He left no mess, wore "booties" so the wet snow did not dirty our floors. He was very neat and clean, and left our place as clean as when he arrived. He probably could have worked a little faster, but he was careful and professional. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: Our complete shower head, spout and drain had to be replaced.

+ -1 moreWhen you save $2000. + dollars by spending under $200, how can you go wrong? The previous plumber had corrected a problem at great expense in April. To top it off they advised me to spend even more. I am glad I did not trust their advice and sought a second opinion. Seeing is believing. Get it on videotape before you excavate. Try Jeff the Plumber.
Description of Work: I called to have my sewer line videotaped to see if there was a problem suggested by another plumber from 4/2009. At that time I was told my line had a 6 foot sunken area that would continue to clog and would need excavation and replacement amounting to $2000.00. This other plumber that I had gotten from Angie's List had not videotaped the pipe. Instead, they had used a surface geiger counter type device to determine that there was an area that had sunk 2 ft. lower than the pipeline. I delayed, and finally called several other plumbers and found that Jeff the Plumber offered the most reasonable price for scoping the line. The plumber who arrived was clean, polite, and efficient. He presented me with a VHS tape of the line which I watched part of while he explained what I was seeing. There was no area of depression and certainly no need to dig up the front lawn and spend a couple thousand dollars. I would definitely recommend this company for honest and trustworthy service and advice.

water heater repair
+ -1 moreThe installation and takeaway went ok, the biggest negative is that although I wasn't home (my wife was) they banged up my stairs going to the basement. A chunk of paint is missing on each step where it appears the person taking it to the basement banged the water heater and damaged each step. I now need to fix this and repaint. Also we didn't get our discount that we were supposed to get for Angies list (I didn't mention it to my wife). The water heater works fine, but the damaged steps and lack of discount (reminds me of those commercials where one girl gets the doll pony and the other a real pony).

+ -1 moreMy wife put a bunch of dry pasta down the sink and ran the water and disposal. This created a glue in the pipes. The result was a gushing of water below the sink and onto the floor. Our repeated attempts to unclog the drain were unsuccessful. This happened on Saturday night and we looked on Angie's list that night and could only identify a few people who performed 24/7 emergencies. Luckily, Christopher came out; on Sunday. He went right to work and within an hour he had all the pipes cleaned out and our sink working normally again. He was clean, professional and understanding. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

He needed to spend extra time on the job and did not charge us for that time. The service was very professional and completed very much to our satisfaction.

+ -1 moreWe contacted Jeff the Plumber after we were unable to determine why our basement toilet was overflowing and leaking from around the seal after we repeated plunged it and replace the seal twice. Gary came out on 05/18/09 and was able to determine that our waste water line out to the street was severely clogged with grease and tree roots. He quoted us $420 to clear it out and we had him come back the next day to complete the job. He showed up on time, the estimate was right on, and we haven't had any problems since. I would definitely call Jeff the Plumber for any problems we have in the future.

+ -1 moreGary showed up on time, listened patiently to all of my descriptions of what I thought the problem was, answered all of my questions before, during, and after the work (very pleasant individual). He stayed focused on accomplishing what needed to be done, while courteously giving me feedback without appearing I was in the way. After the work, he returned everything to the conditions that existed prior to his work.
Description of Work: Used a camera to locate a blockage between the downspout and the city sewer line, then jetted the line to clear it. He also replaced an anti-siphon sillcock that had burst over the winter.

Description of Work: We purchased a foreclosed property. When the water was turned on the cieling in the living room leaked. Chip, repaired two broken water lines and tested water system, discovered and fixed a third broken line. He repaired the joint on the sanitary line, diagnosed water pressure problem on the kitchen sink. Verified all sinks, toilets, showers & baths were operable. Diagnosed sump pump drainage issue and scheduled to return next business day.

+ 0 moreAfter heavy rain and snow melt the basement of my house became flooded with approximately 4-6 inches of water. I called on a Wednesday night and they came out the next afternoon. The arrived five minutes early. After evaluating the situation, the basement was first going to need the water pumped out of it. They arranged all of this through another company. The tanker and the Jeff the Plumber crew arrived at 9 a.m. the next morning. (the crew was 10 minutes early). The basement was pumped dry and the line was cleared of tree roots which had caused the blockage. The crew was professional and courteous and made recommendations for preventative maintenance. They cleaned up after themselves and I have already recommended them to two other people. It was a great experience and the price was much cheaper than others I called.
Description of Work: Jeff the Plumber came in a snaked the line from the house to the main line.

Description of Work: Our problem presented a unique puzzle with several possible causes. Our technician James approached the issue intelligently and creatively. We were impressed with his diagnostic abilities. Despite my fears that this was going to be a major problem, possibly involving ripping out walls an an entire shower, James seems to have fixed the problem quite quickly.

+ -1 moreThe gas line valve was a quick and simple task, which was done very quickly. The washer valves were an emergency, since we discovered when we tried to shut them off to disconnect the old washer that they didn't actually shut off, so I had to shut off water to the entire house when the new washer was delivered. Since they had just been there two days earlier, and I had already paid one minimum service call for a 15 minute job, I asked if he could replace the faucet on the laundry tub in the time that was left on the service call for the washer. He not only raced to squeeze it in, but did a great job, on a laundry tub that is sitting in a rather odd position! I feel like I may get a better deal elsewhere, but I'm so satisfied with the overall quality of the service that I'm not about to switch.
Description of Work: I've used Jeff the Plumber three times over the past year: once to install a new valve in the gas supply line for a new dryer; again two days later to replace both water valves for the new washer, and most recently to replace the wax seal on my toilet.

+ -1 moreI noticed water soaking into my plaster ceiling in the formal living room and called Jeff the Plumber. It is an old house, and the access under the tub was extremely restricted. Leo, the Jeff the Plumber rep, was great. He came within two minutes of the appointed time, became a contortionist to reach the problem, put a pan under the area to protect the ceiling from further damage, and successfully handled the leak. He was determined and had a sense of humor about the nearly impossible task ahead of him. I thought I would have to get the jaws of life to get him back out of the confined space, but he wriggled back out by himself. Another plumber had offered to tear out the ceiling to fix it before I called Jeff the Plumber. After experiencing his determination, good nature and excellent plumbing skills, I will never call anyone else!
Description of Work: Had a leak in an upstairs bathroom drain above a large, intricately patterned plaster ceiling.

When I called to have them return, they seemed to bend over backwards to fit us into their schedule, and came the same day. We haven't had any problems since.

He finished up the job before earlier than expected and actually called me to ask if it was okay to come earlier to get my work done. He showed up right when he said he would, explained the work to be done and why, completed the work in short order and cleaned up everything when he finished. I would not hesitate to call Jeff's again or to recommend them to anyone who asks.
Description of Work: My water heater quit working so after consulting with three plumbers (including Jeff's) it was obvious that the unit needed replacement. Jeff's came out and replaced the tank and explained all of the rationale for doing so in further detail.
