Security First Home Inspections

Scott was very professional and onetime. He walked through every aspect of the inspection thoroughly. We used him for a second inspection as well.

The inspector was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about certain things. However, I would not recommend Security First Home Inspections for the following reasons: 1. I spoke with another inspector that reviewed the report and just from the pictures, he was able to note some substantial items that were either left out of the report or were note emphasized. 2. The inspector DID NOT GET ON THE ROOF. I find it hard to believe that you can properly inspect a chimney and roof from the ground, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I'm not even sure if he brought a ladder with him 3. He focused on the wrong things. Little things here and there that are "safety related" are great to know about but can be tackled in time. The key thing home owners want out of a home inspection is to know whether or not the house will be a money pit or bad investment. After the inspection I was not really sure if I made a good choice or not, even after asking additional questions. 4. He mentioned things during the walk through and forgot to include them in the report. He did not write things down but insisted on carrying a clip board Overall, the inspection was completed in a timely manner and customer service was great. If you're looking for a home inspector, get one who is going to give you full confidence that the house is a good choice. All houses have their issues, but a good inspector can tell you whether or not they are a big deal. In this case I did not get that feeling after my inspection. I would not recommend using this company if you want to have a comprehensive and complete understanding of the health of your house, but if you are looking for someone that will show up quickly and provide a report in a timely manner, they may be right for you.

They contacted me within 30 minutes of searching for a mold inspector, and was very upfront and honest from the beginning. He was very easy to work with, flexible when it came to scheduling, and highly professional. I initially brought someone in because of a very strong smell that was permeating our basement. At first we didn't know what was causing the smell, so we decided to start with a mold inspection. The inspector dove right in to the problem and didn't even blink when he got to where the smell was the strongest. Within 20 minutes he discovered two possible mold areas (in old water damage that was in the house when we bought it) and quickly discovered a third in our attic. While wrapping up, the inspector gave me quite a bit of advice on steps to take so that once the mold remediation was complete so it wouldn't come back. He was very personable, honest, and direct. I was impressed by his professionalism and how dedicated he was to finding every sign of mold that could be found. He even spotted a problem with our sewer drain being backed up during his inspection. He gave us some bad news of course, but it is much better to be aware of the problem so steps can be taken to fix them. I would 100% hire him again for any home and/or mold inspection. His level of professionalism and integrity are hard to find.

Scott was very thorough, and explained everything he was doing. He suggested testing on the mold samples he found, which I agreed to pay extra for (an independent lab). I'm so glad I hired him, and I would definitely recommend Security First for a home inspection. He is reasonably priced, impartial, and honest about his findings. He supplied a complete written report the next day, and the results helped me determine whether or not to go forward with the home purchase. I trust Scott, and I would hire him again.

Scott really has his customers safety and best interest in mind. There were so many things that were found that saved us a headache as homebuyers. If you really want an honest upfront evaluation dont choose anyone but Security First home inspections.

Just make sure you know what you are buying. It is only an inspection, nothing was actually treated.

I think he was very personable, he explained everything in detail and I was able to follow up with him even after we were done with the project.

I chose Security First based on HomeAdvisor ratings and was completely satisfied. Scott was very thorough and explained everything as we went. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to anyone. He knew a lot about construction and shared a lot of helpful improvements that could save money and improve home safety and value.

07/25/18 - Although Scott mentioned a few things to us worth noting, the report was basically wrong: 1) No CO2 detectors - found them on each floor 2) Ice maker was in order - not sure how that could be with refrigerator delivered yet 3) Microwave not present - right above the stove 4) Rear outside faucet not working - shutoff valve needed to be opened 5) Garbage disposal not working - plug needed to be pushed in. Nice guy, but not very accurate.

10/10, Fabulous experience. Scott came out basically the next day. Very thorough and professional. He walked through the entire house with us and explained everything he was doing, what he noticed and why it would be important. Helped us to prioritize what the problem areas are and gave us realistic reviews on everything in the house. He answered all of our questions with clear knowledge and experience. He was the person with the most qualifications and licensing which would make me expect a higher price but he charges by sq ft so he was $200 cheaper than the next closest company. He even offered to come back a second time if we needed anything re-looked at. I was super happy with the professional knowledge, the great pricing, and I would 100% recommend Scott and Safety First Inspections.
