THE WORKERS WERE PROFESSIOANAL, POLITE AND ALWAYS ON TIME. THEY TOOK AWAY ALL DEBRIS AND CLEANED AROUND THE HOUSE ON A DAILY BASIS. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE TO HAVE A CONTRACTOR TO DO WHAT HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO DO, AND DO IT PROPERLY. THE JOB WAS WELL DONE. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH EVERY ASPECT OF THE JOB AND WOULD RECOMMEND J. SALVATORE & SONS OF YONKERS NEW YORK TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS ROOF REPAIR AND WANTS IT DONE RIGHT. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY.

The provider did a good job. However, when I called to engage them in the following year, their price had risen to $250. When I asked why the big jump, I was told that 'costs' had increased. I suggested that a 66% increase in price needed a better justification and I was told 'that's our price'. I found a better alternative and do not plan on doing business with this company at this price.

J Salvatore & Son's Inc were good. They were professional, came on time and they finished quickly. They were clean and I had no problem. They had a fair price, did the job, it was completed and there was nothing wrong. I didn't have to call them back for anything, they did it right the first time. I had no issued at all.

They are expensive, but they do excellent work. They ordered a window for us. They came out in May. They are not the greatest communicators in the world. You have to keep calling them and leave messages to the correct person. It is pricey, but I got my money's worth. If you want quality work you get it. You also pay for it. They are able to make suggestions for home improvement that are valuable. They made sure the appearance of the work was good. They made it look nice and the house looks beautiful. It is good quality work. They pay attention to detail and design. They make suggestions to improve the appearance of what they do. We have got many compliments from our neighbors and it also adds value to the house, because it looks good. They are very expensive.

Salvatore did a wonderful job. We will absolutely use them for future projects. Several companies didn't even return our calls for a quote after coming out and another roofing company told us that they couldn't do the work because it was too high and they didn't know of a company that would do a custom skylight in such a large size. Salvatore worked with a company that they clearly had worked with in the past. The skylight looks great, has greatly improved the energy efficiency in that room, and is holding up nicely. Salvatore did a great job installing it, had no problem with the height of the townhouse, and kept the house spotless during the job. They were very responsive to our questions and concerns, and provided a polished look for the skylight both inside and outside the house.

Because I called him early in April, it was done very quickly. Once they get into May or June, they get very busy but I called him early so he was able to do my job. He was punctual, when you call him he calls you back, he said I needed a roof and I knew that because I had all the shingles down in the yard but what I like is the price is pretty fair, I thought it would cost a lot more than what he quoted me. I thought the roof would be $10,000 and he quoted me $7,000 and I was really very happy with that. I know he's been in business for a very long time and I went with him because he came right away and basically it was because of the price and the workmanship too. They cleaned up everything, you wouldn't even know they were here, the clean up was good.

J Salvatore & Son's Inc was very responsive and came almost immediately after I made the request. I was very satisfied with that.

I have a flat roof that needed to be replaced and I needed a company who understood the challenges of flat roofs. Not every company knows how to do this. I got quotes from about 10 companies and after reviewing them all, decided on J. Salvatore. Salvatore's was the first estimate I received and it was the most complete. Clearly, they understood what needed to be done. Nick Granitto came out and explained everything to me and the job was done in a few weeks and in a professional manner. The workers were all very good and they cleaned up after each day. After the work was complete, Nick came out again to review the job. We noticed one area that was not right and it was corrected immediately. A year or so later, after that October snow storm, a tree hit the house and damaged the roof and skylights. I called Nick and he sent someone out to patch immediately. Ultimately, I had to replace the skylights and half of the roof again after the tree was removed and the damage could be assessed. (Insurance covered this so I don't remember the cost but somewhere between $8000-$10,000.) A couple of months after Hurricane Sandy hit, I noticed that one of the skylights was leaking. Again, I called Nick and he sent his crew to fix it immediately. I would highly recommend this company.

The price was reasonable. They did the work quickly.

The company was on time in meeting their start date, and I was impressed with the daily supervision provided. The roofers were skilled in working with an older slate roof and the challenges that repairing such a roof entails.

I have used Salvatore & Sons previously for roof repairs and have been pleased with their work; notably, they suggest only work that you need to have done and provide an estimate of alternatives for longer-term repairs. I was also pleased with their work in replacing my gutters, and believe that the prices they charge are fair and reasonable.

We purchased new home February 2012. While converting from oil to natural gas we were told that Yonkers requires we have chimney cleaned and inspected so we could submit the affidavit of completion. This company was the only one that could come out (next day). Everyone else had at least 1 week wait. I was quoted $150 over the phone but when the person came to the home he called me to ask if I wanted both floors (First and basement) done. He said he could do both for 250.00 instead of $300. I was not home so I took his word that this was two different jobs. My 19 year old son said they arrived at the house when they said they would, did the work and left fairly quickly.

Hurricane Sandy tore off a couple dozen shingles from our roof. (We had no power or internet, so Angie's List provided suggestions by telephone.) We used Salvatore and Sons. Despite what must have been a very high demand for their services and despite the fact that they also had no power, they estimated the job the next morning and had the job done quickly, within a couple of days. I honestly have no idea about the $700 charged, whether it was cheap or expensive - It didn't really matter, since the roof was covered quickly and our home protected from uncertain weather. Also, it was such a small job efficiently done that I can't really say how a real roofing job would have gone. What little I did see seemed efficient, professional work. Would absolutely use these people again.

We just purchased a new home and were having the roof replaced. We were told that if we needed to have the chimney swept that it must be done the following day due to the installation/roof work. I called 2 companies (on other's suggestions) who told me right off that they were too busy to come out and just for my information, this is the busiest time of year - to make my appointment ahead of time. I called J Salvatore & Son's Inc and the friendly woman that answered the phone said she understood my situation and could give me an appointment the very next morning. She quoted me up front over the phone. Their service provider came promptly and did the work very professionally. When he was finished everything was clean and spotless. He had a nice demeanor and was in and out in a flash. I would highly recommend their service and plan to use them as our chimney service provider from here on.

I expected them to examine the problem prior to giving me the estimate.

The repair work was completed very quickly and for half the price that other repair companies on Angies list quoted. We checked out other companies on Angie's list. Some didn't want to come out for a small repair. One quote was $900. J. Salvatore came right out, gave an estimate and completed the work within a few days. I am very satisfied with their work and price. and would recommend them to anyone.

They did excellent. They did the work, they cleaned up after themselves. They were on time.

It went great. They were prompt to give the estimate, which was very fair ( i had 3 estimates). They scheduled the wok and got it done when promised. I was dreading ths project. It was a breeze for me.

I highly recommend them. They kept their appointment on time and explained clearly what had to be done, how long it would take and when they could start. I received a written estimate of the work to be done. They came on the date we set up and were on time. They finished when they estimated they would finish. Their work was professional and matched the house and existing roof. Their clean-up was outstanding. I couldnt tell they had been there. They always were available if we had a question. Just a great experience. I will use them again.

They have done a very good job. My father used them, and now I use them. They do excellent work. They are a tad expensive, but they do good work. They never leave you hanging. There is no delay in completing the process.

I am generally happy with Salvatore's work and would use them again. This time it did take a couple of phone calls after I sent in my deposit to get them started. However, the job looks good and they did a really excellent job of cleaning up afterwards. I would just advise future customers to read the contract terms carefully. They routinely state that if there is need to replace rotted plywood in the roof that it will cost $100 per sheet to install new plywood. They cannot determine the extent of rotted plywood until they remove the old roofing shingles. On a smaller job they replaced a couple of sheets and this did not bother me. However, on this job they replaced 60 sheets which would then add up to $6000 or an additional 75% over the original estimate. In a negotiation after the job they were willing to give a discount, but the final total was still 60% over the original estimate. In the future I will ask them to estimate for me how many sheets of plywood would be needed if the roof is extensively rotted. (If it has been leaking and is old, that is probably the case.) In my own evaluation of their estimate I would add on that plywood at $100 per sheet to anticipate my likely cost and to possibly have a discussion in advance of signing about a negotiated price if there is more than minimal replacement needed. Future customers would do well to have this discussion so as to avoid an unpleasant surprise at the end.

The entire roofing project went very well. I was pleased with the response time and professionalism during the estimating stage. They started the project on the date expected and their crew was here from 8:30 am until approximately 4 pm every day. Proof of Liability Insurance and Workers Comp Insurance were provided at the estimating stage and were acceptable to my Insurance Carrier. When the HVAC contractor was delayed during removal of some parts of the old HVAC units J. Salvatore did additional work as needed to expedite the entire project at reasonable additional cost.. When questions arose during the project I was able to contact Kevin Mullen quickly and receive immediate replys. I feel confident that should there be any issue with the roof in the future they will stand by their work.

I had a leaking skylight and needed a repair or replacement. Called for a quote and salesman/estimator showed on time. He recommended that we not go with a repair and instead do a complete replacement. Received quote (a little high but acceptable) via mail shortly thereafter. Put down deposit. A few weeks later a crew came by (unannounced) to take exact measurements for new skylight. A few more weeks passed without any communications so I called to inquire about when the job would be done. No one was available so I left a voice message. The next morning I got a call at 8:30am from the owner saying a crew would be by later that morning to install the skylight. I was a bit annoyed about 1) having to call them and 2) not being given more lead time, but the crew did show up when they said they would, and completed the job in one day as promised. Poor communications aside, I would use Salvatore again given the high degree of workmanship.

The overall experience was excellent. I have used them number of times. Earlier they had found a problem for me, which had existed for years. They were only one who could find the solution. They were the cheapest. Usually, they are under a little pricey. I trust what they have to say. They are doing some project for me now. I found them on Angie's list. They were well rated, and I found that very helpful.

They cleaned and fixed my gutters. No problem.
