CROOKS! FRAUD! I would never use this company and advocate for anyone else in need of a new roof to look elsewhere. I hired them and paid them to install a new roof with all new plywood. A few years later I started having issues where the shingles would blow off every time we had a wind storm. The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but after the third and fourth time I took down the insulation cover the work they did. I found out the only gave me a third of the new plywood roof I paid for. The charged me for a new roof, but only gave me new shingles. They've so far refused to give me the new roof I paid for and have only come back to patch my roof. Run as fast as you can from this company.

I went quick and they even cut back the branches that had caused the damage.

Their service was fine. We had shingles blown off the roof and some damage to our roof. They had done prior work on our roof so I called them and they came and did it. They are roofers primarily and they have been around for a very long time. The quality of the work was fine. My husband was pleased.

They are experts at installing new slate roofing and gutters. They are prompt, reliable, and priced fairly. I would recommend their service.

This past fall this roofing company replaced a section of our roof and skylights only to have it leak shortly thereafter. They came back to fix it this spring, however, when it was pointed out that the interior of the house was damaged due to the leak after their repair, they suggested that we have our own homeowner's insurance cover that damage. After numerous unreturned phone calls, they challenged me that they were responsible for the damage, saying it was pre-existing and suggested that I would need to pay for partial repairs. I had to have my contractor call to confirm that this was new damage to the house. They also said that they would fix it should I have them do the rest of our roof (sectional roof). There is no way that I would want them to do any more work to my house. Not only that, but two roofers that came in to give an estimate on fixing the other part of our roof pointed out that the job J Salvator and Sons did was incorrect. The roof that they did does not drain properly and needs to be redone. This company does not respond to phone calls or stand by their work. This has been a horrible, expensive and time consuming experience. I do not recommend this company and would encourage others to be weary.

The workers were quick, professional, and did solid, good quality work installing two new roof vents.

J Salvatore & Sons are the contractors that replaced my whole roof just before I purchased the home. Lucky me right. I believe they did a good job and used quality materials, so I decided to give them a call to discuss the gutters and leads. My wife and I are considering changing the color of the house and thus need white gutters and leads. Instead of replacing them, they suggested having them painted and assured me that a good paint job would look good, would last a long time, and would save me a lot of money. I really appreciated their honesty and professionalism. He also gave me advise on other projects. Kevin seems to be a really nice guy. He's super easy to talk to and actually listens. I will be using them in the future.

He was very responsive and did a great job.

They were professional and nice but their quote was high. There was a confusion over what was causing the leak in our house, some people said it was a chimney some said it was the roof. He said it was the roof and their quote was close to 4000$ and when we worked on the chimney, the leak stopped. They were recommended to me by a friend. They were on time but i just decided to try something else. I would recommend them.

It went well. I felt they were fair in not trying to sell us extra services we didn't need. And I asked them to come back and give me a quote for replacing the roof in the future and their quote was reasonable.

They were professional, on time and had good price. They weren't above the other companies. One of the things that I did try to focus on in my reviews was Yonkers-based companies. I live in Yonkers so I try to use people from here to support their independence. They're a Yonkers-based company so I gave them a shot and they actually did something for me in the past and the work was good. For what they did for me in the past, the work held up. One job has held up for what must be 15 years. The guy was very responsive. Their punctualiy and professionalism were excellent. I can't complain about any of these guys who came.

Setting up an appointment went smooth. Communication was smooth. They provided a written quote estimate for flat roof. Very efficiently written. Also followed up regarding quote. Very professional.

I don't think that I used them. Later on, I found out that my chimney was good enough to last another couple of years. They said that my chimney was in good condition and didn't need any repairs. I think they were truthful and honest. Their quote was a little bit higher.

This is a followup on the previous report which had been requested by Angie's List. I have now received the promised estimate and it was in a timely fashion and I want to upgrade my letter grade. My only hesitation is that we requested to try and repair one of the copper gutters. This was not considered in the estimate but instead we were offered a new gutter. UPDATE: Jim came over quickly to evaluate about 5-7 days ago but I have not heard from him since. Checked spam and don't find anything there. I am reluctant to give a grade BECAUSE IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THERE IS AN EMAIL PROBLEM.

Every task was performed perfectly, on time, and on budget. The staff on each of the various crews was far more courteous and professional than typical trades guys. We are extremely pleased with the result/s and have already engaged them for another job. If you want a team that will treat you fairly on price and over deliver on quality, give them a try!

Owner arrived at the scheduled appointment time. He evaluated the issue and provided cost effective solutions to correct the problems and maintain the design intent of the roof. Repair work was scheduled promptly and executed in a highly professional manner. Owner made multiple visits to the site to inspect work and communicated with us on a regular basis until completed.

It went excellent. I've used them for the past couple of years and they've always done a good job.

We had the best experience with Salvatore & Sons Roofing and always have through the years. We have used them for work since 2003 and get the same great service each time. I trust them and they stand by their work. I have referred them to several others who are equally as happy.

Just an awful experience. Staff were unsupervised; not that they didn't do reasonable work, but didn't do the right work. Approximately 40% of the time spent on site was rework. The base hours on the job site were ~50 which, excluding materials, is about $180/hour - a bit much even with insurance costs. They had a very good reputation in the market, but I understand that founder retired and a 2nd generation is now in charge. Stay far away. ------------------------- In response to the inaccurate comments of Salvatore - the job was bid out to multiple providers by the GC. I have the quote done by Salvatore which has all the requirements for the work so no "on site changes were made." Telling him to replacing a copper cap they'd installed instead of a slate cap that had previously been in place which also didn't match the rest of the house - not quite changing my mind. I also watched & counted hours from the time the job started. Even if you counted the re-work from Salvatore's mistakes (like the incorrect copper cap noted and a mismatched ridge cap) you couldn't come close to $95/hour. Other than the mismatched slates, the job does look good, but the price and the hassle of the rework was completely unnecessary and would not have been required if the firm was professional. Use Werkheiser Painting & Roofing, a night and day different experience who we should have used but missed out on due to scheduling conflicts.

The repairs took two days to complete. Workers were efficient and cleaned up all residue and removed it from grounds. Total time was five hours each day, March 20 and 21, 2014.

They did a wonderful job. It turned out very very nice, better than expected. After the roof settled in you could really see its beauty. They finished on time. It’s warmer in the house now, I’ll save a lot on heat.

Although the price was slightly higher then 2 others. I felt more comfortable with them. They gave me options, I.e lower cost and a extensive and more expensive with a longer guarantee which I felt more comfortable with. The only complaint I have is they arrived on sight without notice. This caused somewhat of an inconvenience as the work was performed not at my home. However after a phone call and apologies for mix up it proceeded fine.
