Bad business operations, bad moving administration, bad follow up, poor customer service. When I contacted Men on the Move we discussed in great detail that the pick up location needed a Certificate of Insurance (COI) from the building and MEN ON THE MOVE MADE IT VERY VERY CLEAR THAT THEY COULD NOT SEND THEIR MEN WITHOUT KNOWING THAT THE COI WAS IN PLACE. The move was tentatively scheduled for Monday, PENDING THE RECEIPT OF THE COI. I was told that the COI would cost me $40. Unfortunately, in-spite of numerous calls, I was not able contact the building on Friday about what COI information they needed and was at a work location that had limited cell phone service. I received a phone message from Men on the Move about 5:15pm on Friday confirming the move on Monday (Note: Men on the Move knew that they had not gotten a COI from their insurance carrier, yet they were confirming a move). At 6pm Friday and again on Saturday I called Men on the Move but there was no answering machine and I couldn't leave a message. They did not attempt to call me over the weekend (again, they had not obtained the COI and good business practice would have been to contact me over the weekend about a Monday move). I called again first thing Monday morning and was told that the movers had been dispatched and that i would be charged a $150 cancellation fee. I was also told on Monday that the $40 COI fee they charged included their contacting the building for me to get the necessary information --- the gentleman I spoke to previously had not mentioned this and if that were the case, why didn't they ask me for the building's contact information, contact the building themselves and have everything in place for Monday? The actual moving men were punctual and efficient, but that doesn't make up for their bad business operations, bad moving administration, bad follow up and poor customer service.

I was very impressed with this company's professionalism and efficiency. From the time I requested the quote over the phone till the end of the move when everything was placed in my home. First of all, they beat the quote they gave me by several hundred dollars and several hours, which was a pleasant surprise. They were also very nice and patient with my husband and I since we did not label all the boxes and had to remember what room the box needed to go. They also did not break anything and wrapped all furniture carefully. I will use them again with my next move and recommend them to anyone looking for movers.

We had a wonderful moving experience with Men On the Move. Peter DeCarlo was our rep who was extremely helpful and professional. He assured us that everything would be okay especially since we had had some awful moves in the past. Courtney was the leader of "troops" and the other gentlemen were just amazing and easy to work with. They came a day before the move in order to help us finish packing (we called them a "packing hurricane" due to their speed and efficacy). Everything was packed safely and securely. Courtney made the move as easy and painless as possible and NOTHING BROKE!!!!! We can't recommend them highly enough and would use them again in an instant.

It was surprisingly professional. I've used several moving companies in the past and this was the least stresfsul. The movers were very accommadating and took extra steps to reassure me the boxes were safe. They moved quickly, paying by the hour this was appreciated. After using 5 companies to move to 5 different storage units (not the same stuff) this was the first time movers arranged the storage unit so that all the boxes had their labels facing out. And followed my directions exactly. It was really a pleasure dealing with them. And moving is never a pleasure.

Erick and Winston the initial movers that packed and loaded boxes and furniture were professional and friendly. Very proficient with the work. They considered every piece to be moved and spent a great deal of time to pack properly and reinforce those items I packed. They evaluated everything prior to packing and moving any item. It was actually a very pleasant experience.

Everything went perfect except for a TV the movers dropped and obviously broke. The overall was rated as a "B" not because of the movers but for the fact that when we went to make a claim on the TV they were very polite and promised to replace it. Shortly after the call we received emails that we needed to sign documents and have things notorized to get the tv replaced. Truthfully, we were not told that by the movers, the movers stated that they would be bring us a replacement tv. After 4 months battling with selling and buying homes and with all the paper work we went through I'm not up to doing anymore paper work. Peter the sales representative was excellent and aside from the TV everything was perfect.
Description of Work: The movers were very professional and made sure everything was properly packed and took extra care of packing what we needed.

The 3 men sent by Men on the Move arrived on time , introduced themselves and started working immediately . They did a great job of packing the furniture and loading the truck quickly . They went directly to the new apartment and started unloading the truck. Everything seemed to be going very good until I noticed one of the men standing in the hall with a mattress blocking the closed bedroom door while there was another worker inside the bedroom. That's when then 3rd worker asked me a question . A minute later I noticed the worker that was with the mattress was gone but the mattress was still blocking the door to the bedroom. So I moved the mattress and went in and saw the worker inside still starting to assemble the bed frame . I went to the window and looked around , I saw the closets folding doors were moved . I had moved somethings over the previous weeks and put them in the bedroom closet , as well as the hall closet. After they left I started putting stuff away in the bedroom closet when I noticed a camera case was open and other things were opened and moved. I then went to the hall closet and saw that a backpack was open, a plastic bag with DVDs was sliced open and other things were tampered with. I called to complain and was transferred to a dispatcher for the men who didn't seem to believe my story but said he would get back to me . I later called Men on the Move again and left a message , nobody has contacted me back. I have received a few e-mails asking for my review of the move. So here it is.

"The #1 Rated Movers in Long Island for the past five years" severely damaged at least 80% of the furniture they moved. The majority of these pieces are antiques. I have moved 16 times in my life from different parts of the world and have never encountered such negligence in regards to transporting antiques, nor have I experienced any similar damage. I trusted them with my most treasured and irreplaceable possessions and they destroyed them! Men on the Move cannot dispute this since there are countless photos to prove my claim which I can readily provide. They arrived in Fl. a day late, which is understandable since their truck had a flat tire, but then I suffered verbal abuse from Chris the driver, who was scheduled to be at my new home at 7:30AM, but by 9:30AM had not shown up. I was standing outside waiting along with 2 extra local men who had been hired to help with the move and told to show up at 7:30. Chris had hung up on me twice and I recorded him the third time when he answered and began to scream at me. He denies this ever occurred. I called James, who had sold the job in hysterical tears and he never responded. They were paid $4,000 out of $5,000 upfront, almost the entire balance of my move, and yet they mistreated me. As a result of their being a day late and the further delay that day, I missed my flight back to NY, to close on my house, had to re-book the flight at my own expense, which Mr. Mosher at that point had said I would be compensated for but never was. When I called him after the closing and my return to FL. he had "forgotten about this" and also "forgotten me" since after having been so conciliatory, he simply told me that I obviously did not like him and referred me to the claims department. You really cannot make this up. Obviously, I was never compensated. Worst of all is the fact that there was no compassion or understanding or willingness to assume responsibility for what had occurred. I am a widow, in ill health, and many of these belongings were in my husband's family. In 16 moves, I have never had such an experience. Seven months later, I will be receiving some compensation and someone has been found to do some repair work on the antiques. SEVEN MONTHS! When I recently received the settlement worksheet and saw that I would be receiving a minimal amount for these damages, I went back to look at the bill of lading, and yes, I signed off on the Actual Cash Value clause. From the start I had told Men on the Move that I needed Replacement cost insurance because of the financial and sentimental value of my belongings. The actual day of the move was total chaos and when I was asked to sign and initial in various places and also put down the amount of what I believed was "additional coverage" , above and beyond the replacement cost, I wrote down $50,000. I didn't even look at what I was being asked to initial. Shame on me!! This is very fine print and I simply went along with what the lead mover asked me to do then, as I was being hurried so the job could begin. I know better than to so do so. On the other hand, Men on the Move was not forthcoming. I trusted them and initialed where they asked me to do so in this rush. Any conscientious and ethical mover who saw what needed to be moved would have made sure that I signed for replacement cost. All my previous movers have done so. I consider this dishonest and unprofessional but assume responsibility for my own oversight. Three member of the crew in NY received $100 in cash tips and the foreman Chris received $125. The Florida crew was similarly compensated since I recognize how difficult this work is. The damage had yet to be discovered. Not once has anyone from Men on the Move apologized or shown any compassion for what I experienced. They may be #1 movers in Long Island, but I can never restore or replace the belongings that were damaged beyond repair.

Awful experience. They came highly recommended which encouraged me, since my previous mover had been a disaster. They charged me over $9000.00 for a thirty block move from a two bedroom apartment to another apartment. I had been concerned about my antique grandfather clock and an antique dollhouse, which had previously been damaged, and I was going to hire a specialty mover, but they assured me they handled things like that all the time. Result? They broke off a chunk of wood at the bottom of the clock, knocked off a numeral from the clock dial ( a good trick since there is a door covering the clock dial) and scratched the dial to the point where the scratches can not ever be totally polished out. The movement stopped working and I had to have a clock specialist repair it. The dollhouse? They knocked off shingles, wood trim, pieces on the outside, and more. Since this company is no longer in business, I am not even sure I can get the parts. They actually broke a wooden knob from a piece of Stickley furniture in half, and put several dents in the area around the knob. Even with repair from the company, the piece will never look the same. While I will admit they did less damage in terms of sheer numbers of items, what they did was heartbreaking. They broke the battery case of a small clock which I can not replace, chipped and cracked several plant containers, lost a stepladder, lost the casters from a bin. They were supposed to spend two days packing and then loading, and deliver on the third day. They weren't even finished by the end of the second day and had to come back and finish packing and loading. The result? They did not get to the new location until after 11:30 instead of 8:30, and they ran to dump everything, putting cartons in stacks of three all over the place, blocking closets and even the entrance to a couple of the rooms. They then had the audacity to bill me an addition $2000.00 more, with no logical explanation. They worked the number of days and the hours specified at the onset. They may have had one extra man the third day, but I sure as heck never saw him. Regardless, there was not any reason for over $2000.00 additional, so I consider them dishonest and fraudulent. The piece de resistance came when I returned to the old apartment to collect my dog and close up. I discovered there were two drawers of items, mostly tools, which they had never even packed, and they left ten very large plants in one of the bedrooms. I had a heck of a time getting someone to help me get those items out of the apartment and into a cab. I would never use them again, and I certainly would not recommend them.

They were suppose to be at the house between 1 and 4. They came at 2:45 and were very friendly. They took the mirror off the dresser and wrapped everything in moving blankets and tape. It wasn't a big job but they were professional. At the destination they had to take the elevator up to the 4th floor and everything was moved in quickly and efficiently. Nothing was damaged or scratched and they also moved the furniture after it was put in place to make us happy. We would definitely use them again!

The movers were very professional, friendly and hard working. They did a great job overall and we were very happy with the results. Nothing was broken and the movers were very organized in how they loaded and unloaded the trucks. The move took more than 12 hours in total so it was a big move and we could not have asked for it to go any more smoothly. The only issue was that when they first arrived and reviewed everything, the manager immediately said we would need two trucks. He called the office and a second, smaller truck was sent within a few hours which was absolutely needed. This did cost us a little more but we did not mind since it was handled so efficiently. We have recommended them already to friends and would definitely use them again in the future.

I worked with the sales rep Abe. He was very helpfully and informative. He stopped by in person to assess the items being moved so the estimate was as accurate as possible. I stopped by multiple time to their location and pick up free used boxes which was awesome for boxing up things prior to the move. They were so friendly and helpful. They even provided tape and some tissue paper for boxing up glasses and things. The day of the move they showed up on time and ready to work. The team was professional and very careful with our things. They explained my insurance options and they got to work. Men on the move estimated 6.5 hrs with 30mins travel time and they finished about 1hour and a half less than that saving me a bit of money. I tipped them well and they were thankful and courteous. I would definitely use them again with out hesitation.
