Description of Work: Had them in to repair a leak under the kitchen sink. When they came they gave a price for replacing the pipe which was old that I had thought was reasonable. I was not at home, my 25 year old daughter was there. She called me when they came and while I was on the phone she checked about the price and I heard him give the amount of approximately $400.00 which I agreed to. Then afterwards they said in addition to replacing the pipe we put in a new faucet( we had gotten a new one less than one year prior to that) which was not necessary as well as some other additional things which brought the total to around $700.00. I called the main office and spoke with a manager who was very rude. I said I wanted a breakdown of all the additional things and he said that would be difficult as he writes everything on little scraps of paper when he tells the repairman a price and they just put a total. I demanded a breakdown and eventually got one that I assumed was just made up. Would never use them again.

Description of Work: Inspected boiler, cleaned it and repaired minor issues

Description of Work: Installed a new gas/hot water heater after the previous one sprung a leak. Responded right away to check that there was no gas leak and that the water had been turned off, and replaced the unit the next morning. Excellent service and professionalsim.

Description of Work: I called due to an urgent issue with my boiler and the response was " what's your address.. Hold on.. If someone comes out its at an overtime rate of 275. Normally we charge 125 but it's the weekend. You must pay the 1st hour via credit card over the phone" not one sense of empathy for my issue. Needless to say I didnt use that service. Customer service suks

Description of Work: They were very professional and punctual when coming to give us a quote for a few projects: installation of a new water heater and a gas dryer. We liked them, but the price was outrageous. $1700 for the water heater and $775 to install the dryer- more than the cost of the dryer. We were able to get several reputable quotes for far less. Did not go with them, as the price was outrageously high.

Description of Work: In the spring of 2014, Ranshaw diagnosed a major problem with our 100-year-old piping system in the run from our house to a drywell, arranged for a construction company sub-contractor to excavate before the repair and fill in later, and replaced the whole line. The total cost was considerably greater than what was paid to Ranshaw, as the construction company cost was close the $5000. But this was a truly major repair. Ranshaw not only sent out a genius plumber (his name was Hing, I believe) to figure out what the problem was (which was not obvious, as the leak was happening underground), but a senior person, possibly the owner, came out at one point to look at it. All the way through, they were professional and responsive. It was not cheap, of course. Previously, in 2011, I had hired Ranshaw to do the oil-to-gas conversion of our heating system and install a new boiler. On this the total cost was close to $10,000. Their work was excellent. I have also hired them for routine plumbing repairs and boiler servicing.

Description of Work: They installed a relay near the boilet, a new thermostat that I had purchased and installed new air valves on all of the radiators.

Description of Work: I had saved up a variety of small jobs (11-replacing faucets, installing new toilet,etc.)to do in one visit. It took a WHOLE day. When they were about to leave, the plumber looked under the kitchen sink and noticed that the waste line looked weak, asked me if I wanted to replace it and he finally finished by 6:30 pm, after calling in a colleague to help him. Very professional and dedicated. Big money but this is the Cadillac of plumbing.

Description of Work: They wouldn't help me if I wasn't getting my oil from them. They don't do pay as you go, only as a monthly account, which I discovered is a rip off!

Description of Work: They replaced the heating circulatory and two other valves. They were suppose to come in the afternoon but showed up early in the morning. Initially the office response was not very good via the phone to get them to come and check the system (I have a contract with them), but finally they said they would send someone to check it. The first visit the system was checked and an estimate given, that visit was covered by the contract. Several days later, the second visit to replace the valves and circulatory. I initially thought the whole thing would be covered by the service contract since I have a parts plus service contract. It wasn't so I was disappointed and was wondering why was I paying a little extra for a parts plus contract and it was not covered.

Description of Work: Repaired pipes, supplied 2 water faucets and un-clogged drain. Worked three hours.
