+ -1 moreAfter I read the excellent reviews he had on Angie’s List, I called Andy from Arta Construction to see the house and provide a quote for the work to be done in the kitchen and bathrooms. The price was fair and I chose him to do the work. Andy and his crew are professional, efficient, and work very fast, so getting your job done on time will not be a problem. The quality of work is very good and they were able to execute every design idea we had. I would definitely call Andy back for any other work I have in my home.

Andy takes the time to explain the work that is needed as well as provide input. He never makes like you are obligated to take his suggestion. Most importantly, he listens to you. Yanni, who works for him, did a great job and showed me where the leak originated. He also answered my questions. Our family have utilized Arta Construction for years and will continue to do so.

+ 0 moreAndy and his crew did a great job installing a new beam in the ceiling and while the ceiling was open he suggested installing additional lighting. Wonderful suggestion. Makes the room much brighter and looks bigger. Also repainted the entire apartment to get it ready for renting. This is the second project that I've used Arta for and I'm very pleased with their work.

I recommend them to all my friends and anyone interested in a TRUSTWORTHY, RELIABLE, HONEST, EFFICIENT, PROMPT, and HIGH QUALITY PERFECTIONIST contractor who shows up on time, delivers on his promises, and performs the work in a timely manner. I read positive reviews on Angie's List before hiring, and was excited to find them true. While I'm a skeptic by trade (attorney), and don't normally write reviews, Andy and his team are now my "go-to" contractors for everything in future. They also think about the project in the right way : cost-effectiveness but without sacrificing high quality work. The results speak for themselves (see attached "before and after" photos). My kitchen and bathroom were in desperate need of an upgrade, and now I have a completely different and wonderful apartment. His team showed up on time, performed the work in a safe and professional manner, and finished the project with such speed (without sacrificing high quality results) I was left stunned (e.g., demolishing both the old kitchen AND bathroom in full, AND removing the debris in one day (!)). This was a complete gut renovation for both a kitchen and bathroom. I found his estimate reasonable for the scope of work involved (indeed, another vendor quoted twice as much), and more so given the end-product and timeliness of his performance. My cramped, pre-war galley kitchen was transformed into a modern, open island kitchen design. He also did a tub-to-shower conversion in the bathroom, including upgraded electrical and tile work (beautifully done). A lot of work needed to be done on my place. And Andy's work was well-worth the money. Honestly, look no further. Few people can be relied upon nowadays, but Andy and his team retain that "pride in one's work" ethos. He was in constant communication (even texting progress photographs while I was at work). My apartment was kept in clean condition and I trusted his team. If you're looking for a "no nonsense", timely (if not speedy), high quality construction experience, give Andy a call. He will give a frank estimate that will not materially differ from the end price. I'm VERY happy with the experience and final product (again, see the "before and after" pictures for the results - it's even better in person). I WILL be calling on Andy again for future work.

I gave Andy the keys to the apartment on the first day, never lost a minute’s work time staying home to look over everyone’s shoulder — and I always came home to find the apartment as clean as they could leave it (under the circumstances). I’m still in awe of how painless and very positive the experience was. If I could give Andy an A+++ rating, I would. The man is phenomenal. Don’t hesitate. Call him. & give him my regards :-)`
Description of Work: Needed a complete renovation of my bathroom (pre-war Forest Hills co-op), and I was NOT looking forward to it. Every renovation I’d ever heard of was a nightmare — until I started to read Andy’s reviews on Angie’s List. Nobody exaggerated . The man is a dream to work with. His work is excellent, he couldn’t be more honest or more accommodating or hardworking. Whenever I asked anything at all of Andy, the answer was always “No problem.” But I’m a New Yorker, I’m cynical — so finding out that it wasn’t just a phrase, but that he really meant it was enormously reassuring. The bottom line is that Andy is smart, cool-headed, honest, hard-working, punctual, accommodating and totally wonderful. If it makes you feel good to call in 4 people for an estimate, do it — but if you’re smart, you’ll listen to your gut and to me and you’ll hire Arta Construction.

+ 4 moreThis was my second major renovation project with Arta, which in itself speaks volumes. (see Remodeling-General review of 6/28/17). This project was a total gut renovation of a circa early 1930s bathroom. The project went well as did the first one. Andy was accommodating to my design ideas and requests. The bathroom was tiled to the ceiling with two rows of rope tile accent around the entire room, all new bath fixtures, sconces and recessed lighting, medicine cabinet, a SILENT exhaust fan, an in the wall space heater, window shutters and tile floor were installed. Andy also installed a tempered glass wall between the tub and toilet allowing for the installation of a shower curtain pole (eliminating old sliding shower doors). A second door into the bathroom from an adjoining room was removed to create a shallow, multi-shelf bathroom closet with two narrow louvre doors. A wall was installed closing the former door's opening and was painted on the opposite side to a perfect match with the existing paint of the adjoining room. There were some old pipe issues which were easily resolved. Any snags/delays that occurred were caused by independent vendors. Andy goes the extra mile for his customer, is patient and is always a pleasure to deal with. He provides sound advice. I highly recommend Arta Construction and would hire again for my next major project. Also noteworthy, the crew is punctual and remove debris and clean the work area daily.

+ 5 moreThe old bathroom had to be demolished for a new one. I called four contractors and thought it would be tough to pick the right one for the project. To my surprise, it turned out to be a no-brainer to go with Arta after talking to the owner Andy. Andy has a straightforward style, very professional and experienced. My bathroom's layout has bothered me for years and Andy came up with a clever solution that no other contractor had thought of. Three of his workers are working on my project so far and they all working hard and taking lots of pride in whatever they're doing. Yanni's knowledge is vast while Peter is doing flawless, beautiful tiling work. Efficient, professional and diligent are the keys that set them apart from other workers I know of. I can't wait to use my new bathroom!

They always leave in a timely manner and clean up after themselves. The workers are easy to talk to. They make you feel as though you are in charge, never intimidating, like some contractors can be. They give you the truth whether it benefits them or not. Believe me you feel like your money was well spent. I have no regrets!
Description of Work: The Arta company finished my kitchen , They put in a porcelain floor, widend a doorway, put in a backsplash and water line for my refrigerator, put in my dishwasher properly, and fixed a radiator leak. Finally he painted my kitchen and bathroom and recaulked the seams around the tub.

Description of Work: We just had our kitchen gutted out and totally renovated by Arta construction, From the time we called the company and met with Andy we know that he is the right man for the job. We did our research and got about five different contractors to come in so we can choose and compare , I did look at all the reviews and even went to better business bureau to make sure there was no pending complaints. Most of the contractor's was talking about money from the start , this turned me off since It looks like they are only interested in taking my hard earned money instead of what I want to do to my new kitchen. From the start Andy was on time, listen to what our plans, suggested only when we ask for his expert opinion and carefully assess what needs to be done. He then told us what the plan is, how long it will take, and that he will return with a quote. He gave us the quote and returned with different types of color for the cabinets, and the floors. Everything was done in a professional manner. The one thing that impress me was that he was not obsessed in telling us how much money has to be deposited first, he was only interested in what color, type of tiles, flooring cabinets, lightings, and any details that we requested.. He then explained to us details on what was going to happen from day one to the 3rd week. My husband was also impressed with his knowledge and expertise. He suggested things for our kitchen that were so happy he did because it turned out really great for our kitchen look. Andy deserved all the ratings that I gave his company, they are courteous, dependable and professionals. Andy was there everyday at the beginning and explained everything that will happen during the day. Thomas and Yani were hard working people they just do the work and made sure that everything is done. They are also very professional and helpful with every questions we asked. We are so happy with my new kitchen, everything that we wanted and requested was done and plus plus more that Andy put in as extras. My husband who does not recommend anyone already recommended Andy to his friends and even to his doctor who also wants his kitchen done. My friends were all so impressed with my new kitchen. I already told Andy that he will be doing my bathroom and basement in the future as soon as we are financially able again. + -1 moreFrom start to finish, working with Andy and his team was an absolute pleasure. I am not kidding when I say that I had asked at least 20 people in NYC if they would recommend their contractor and they ALL said no. Well, I would 100% recommend Andy and Arta Construction. Andy was on time for our appointment, he helped me figure out how I could get everything done in my budget (he told me to get the materials myself and he was right, that was the way to save some money; but, when I needed him to get something it was also totally fine), and he finished on time. In the kitchen, he removed the cabinets, the floor, the countertop, and the backsplash; and then he built up the subfloor, installed IKEA cabinets that we assembled, installed our new floor, countertop, backsplash, sink, faucet, light fixture, and installed all of our appliances. Nothing was a problem for him. His work is detailed and his team cleans up every day. In the bathroom he removed all the mud set tile, floor, and bathtub. The work in there again was superb. You won't believe me when I tell you that all of that only took a little over two weeks. And that is because of some building issues on our end. Without that, it would have taken just under two weeks. He made us feel like we were in good hands and like he was just as invested in our project as we were, even though I'm sure that we were a small fish. He never made us feel like that. If you want work done that is reasonably priced, done on time, neat and tidy, and detailed, work with Andy.

+ -1 moreI wasn't there, but my brother said they showed up around the same time each day, did their work, cleaned up and left about the same time each day. If they were going to be early, they called ahead. My brother said they were very professional and nice to him. When I dealt with Andy, I got the impression he was a very skilled contractor and gave you a fair price. He may not be the cheapest, but he made everything go smoothly and to code. The work is of high quality and he stands behind his work. That in itself is worth something.
Description of Work: Andy and his crew did a bathroom remodeling for my handicapped brother. He took out the bathtub and built a custom shower with a bench and grab bars. The bathroom was stripped down to the studs and entirely rebuilt.

Andy is pleasantly responsive to all inquiries and changes and provides good advice about your project. He is very personable and easy to work with. + 1 moreI live in a co-op and from the beginning it was a pleasure to work with Arta Construction. Andy supplied the necessary paperwork and licenses required by the co-op. He was open to start work at my convenience, and once I confirmed start date no other communication was neccessary. The workers were exceptionally professional. Everyone arrived on time, greeted you upon arrival to your home and worked non-stop. Every morning they laid down drop clothes to protect my floors and at the end of the day picked them up and swept the area clean. Any cutting of materials outside was also cleaned up at the end of the day, and debris was removed daily. The workmanship was excellent...Andy would check the area and point out any details his workers might have missed so they could correct that day or the next. The job was done in a week (ahead of schedule) and I'm very happy!

+ 0 moreI am extremely pleased with the entire process . Andy was very responsive when I first contacted him about the job. He came to my house at precisely the time he promised. I very impressed that he presented a typed written estimate on the company letterhead. I thought the price he quoted was fair and reasonable . His price was less expensive than another contractor who wasn't licensed. We scheduled the job one month in advance and job started as promised. Each day the crew arrived promptly and only stopped to have a quick bite to eat. Andy was on site twice a day to see how the work was being done . He and the guys were very approachable and accommodating. Everything was swept and put away at the conclusion of the day. Andy is very customer oriented. Nothing was ever a problem if it made me happy. For instance he and his team stayed late to finish the work so I could return to work. As for the actual work, it is beautiful. I am beyond pleased. No detail was overlooked through the job. Everything was neat and precise ; no shortcuts taken. Extras were done like installation of borders around window and door and installation of towel bars, etc. They even made a new cover to enclose my radiator. I highly recommend Arta to anyone looking for a quality job at a fair price. I have already recommended to my friend . I would definitely use Arta for future projects

+ 4 moreThe job done by ARTA, was done well. The contractors were respectful and professional. The crew was dependable and punctual. They began on time and ended around the same time each day. They were also productive and neat cleaning up behind themselves after each day. Andy quoted me a time frame in which the work would be completed and he was very close to the projected time. If there was an issue Andy made sure that it was solved. For example; the adjacent wall to my bathroom, got damaged. There was a hole and the plaster cracked. Andy made sure that the wall was replastered sanded and painted. NO drama! The crew is competent and skillful. The finished bathroom is beautiful. If you hire this construction company you will not have to worry about having or telling a "contractor horror story!" We were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience!

+ 4 moreIt went better than I could have hoped for. I have been a Insurance claims adjuster for 16 years and have worked with 100's of contractors and found Arta to rank at the top with the best. They started the work on our co-op apartment when we needed them to. They completed the work faster than they said they could. The materials were better than I thought we would get and the quality of the work was excellent. They meet all the demands of the co-op management company and never once complained about anything. Andy pointed out problems and had them dealt with so they were not a problem for us. He came back after the carpet installation to re-fit doors and came back to install a dishwasher after the work was completed. I would highly recommend him to anyone. This company is top sshelf!

The time of the project was quoted very accurately and was extended by a few days only because we asked him to do extras. The quality of the work was impeccable! Everything was straight and beautiful. Communication was clear and Andy was concerned above all about our satisfaction with the project. Pricing was very detailed, fair, and consistent - in fact in the end the price of everything was BELOW what we expected! I wish I had another project to give these guys, I highly recommend them!

Andy is so personable, responsive and full of suggestions to enhance the project and keep cost reasonable. Andy patiently and cheerfully addressed any concerns that I may have had and explained the entire process. He installed a zippered plastic barrier to protect the other areas of my home from dust and covered furniture. Debris was removed daily. Moreover, after the project, there was minimal dust in the project area. And, the work was completed timely as estimated. I would highly recommend Arta to friends and neighbors and to anyone who reads this review. I intend to engage Arta again in the near future for another project that I have in mind. Andy made a 4-year dream/plan come true. Thank you Andy.
Description of Work: The project encompassed 4 rooms. Full Demolition of a galley kitchen for conversion into a laundry area and of a wall between it and a family room. Reconstruction of the wall at a higher level. Installation of new cabinets with hardware, 2 counters, sink with faucet, washer and dryer, wall-mounted rack dryer, and ceiling light . Widened doorway into area from main kitchen requiring removal and replacement of moulding. Original door replaced with two 18 inch doors. Similarly, widened a bedroom doorway with a single door replacement. Removed one closet, replaced doors on two remaining closets and installed new shelves and closet pole. Replaced a 3rd door to another room and installed new hardware on all doors. Installed new vinyl flooring in all four rooms and a hallway and foyer .
