+ 3 moreIt was the most painless renovation project that we have been involved in. Gino came to our house and sat with us on 2 occasions before the work began. He never rushed us into any decisions and accommodated the few changes that my wife wanted to make after the project began. The workers were very professional, extremely polite and very neat and clean. They showed up every day as promised and worked diligently throughout the day. The crew foreman was always present to answer any questions and always greeted us when we came home. The work proceeded expeditiously and the finished product looks amazing. There were a few, and I mean very few, issues which we wanted addressed when the project was completed and they were done immediately without hesitation. Before the project began Gino promised that our house would look completely different when he was done and he was correct. If your father was a really good contractor and he never yelled at you or told you "no", he would be Gino. We intend to hire Prime again for some additional work that we need to have done around our home. You should too!
Description of Work: We initial hired Prime to replace the roof, siding and gutters on our home. This was a large job given that we had 3 roofs that needed to be removed and old cedar shingles that also needed to be removed. There was a great deal of prep work that needed to be done before the new materials could be put on. We have a very large 2 car detached garage that also needed work, but it is so large that we initially decided to defer the work due to the anticipated costs. Prime did such a good job on the initial project that we decided to ask for an estimate for the garage, which also included new garage doors, and the price was so good that we elected to proceed immediately. Along with the primary work, we had 2 porticoes that are made of wood that we wanted wrapped to match the new look of the house. 2 others contractors said that this work was not recommended for various reasons and would likely result in an unsightly finished product. Prime assured us that it could be done and would look very good. They were 100% correct and we are grateful that we took their advice.

Finally, a week later, they called me back and said they do not service my area. I now wasted a week waiting for this and I had no work done.

I was worried that I had mold in my basement. The representative from Prime Home Improvements emailed me back within one day and made an appointment to come to my home that was timely and convenient. He inspected my basement and confidently told me that I did not have mold and that no work needed to be done. He then stated that I could seal the walls of the basement to decrease the potential for moisture to enter the area. He stated that his company could do the work but strongly suggested that my husband or I could do it ourselves. When asked what it would cost for his company to do the work, he gave me a very reasonable estimate, but never pushed me to sign up for the work.I strongly recommend this company.
Description of Work: No "services" were performed. An inspection of the area was conducted.

+ -1 moreIn determining what roofer would work on our home, I selected the top two on Angies List; Prime Home Improvement and Major Homes. In addition, I also contacted two other roofers in the general vicinity here in New York, but not on Angies List. Based on their professionalism, attentiveness and quoting the lower of the other estimates, I chose Prime Home Improvement. The latter reason, however, was not the motivating factor. The Prime Home representative responded to my call and appeared within 24 hours. The visit was informative and after taking all the necessary measurements, the representative, Mr. Gino Ciuffetelli, explained all the work that would be performed and materials used. I was given a sample chart to select a color for the shingles that would be used, should I decide to chose their services. The estimate with all the necessary particulars followed in an Email the same day. Upon accepting Prime Homes offer, I was placed on their schedule. Work began about one week later, mainly due to inclement weather. The workers were polite and appeared to know their trade. Roofs on both the main house and garage were replaced. The work was completed in two and a half days, and all the debris that accumulated, two layers of old roofing and aged wood was cleared away and the property restored to its original state. In conclusion, my thanks to Angies List for being a reliable source of information, and to Prime Home Improvement for living up to it reputation, and for rendering a professional quality job. + -1 moreThe representative inspected the area of concern and advised me the the "fix" only required a hammer and a few minutes of time. Following his instructions, I fixed the problem on my own without spending a dime! During the inspection, the representative noticed some mold in my attic and advised me where it was originating from and told me how to remedy; again...something I can do on my own. This was a secoond estimate. Another company came and inspected a week earlier and told me the "fix" would cost between $1600 and $3000, depending on which "fix" I chose. Thanks for the honesty Gino!

+ 0 moreThe manager contacted me by phone to arrange the work and confirmed two days before the job. Three painters repaired cracks and holes in drywall and painted a 10x12 room with undercoat and two coats of color, plus doors and trim. They arrived punctually, worked steadily, were extraordinarily courteous and efficient, and stayed a bit later than planned so the entire job could be completed in one day. Before leaving they wiped everything clean and vacuumed not only the work area but the hall and stairs leading to it. Billing was efficient. The company accepts on-line payments as well as check. I could not be more pleased and will call them first for my next job.

Description of Work: I was getting tired of going on top of my house and cleaning my gutters, it's exhausting no to mentioned dangerous! I contacted Prime spoke to Gino regarding gutter guards. Gino explained how they work and the benefits of getting them installed! I was a little skeptical because I didn't know If the gutter guards really would work but after talking to some I my friends who have the I decided to call prime back and give them the job. They showed up when they said they would, they cleaned all my gutters, and installed the gutter guards within an hour. After a few weeks and all I this rain in NY I can't imagine not having the gutter guards in my house, specially now that all the leaves coming down and gutter cleaning becomes a weekly job!

+ -1 more.I bought a roof coupon from Angie's List after contacting them 3 or 4 time I finally got a response. They came and said you have a slate roof we can not do anything for you. The fellow wasted my time looking at some other areas of my roof that were not slate so he could tell me he would give me a quote on additional work. If I wanted a quote on new work I could get that for free. I called and complained and they told me I bought the coupon from Angie's list so talk to them. They were done with me they sent someone out to my house and that was all they were responsible for doing. I tired to negotiate a reasonable compromise like maybe they could replace the slates I wanted and credit me the $150 but he was not listening. I found them unreasonable, unprofessional, and down right rude. I would not recommend them for anything.

+ 1 moreThe original estimate was submitted promptly for $7450. Then I have asked to include an additional item which was done without the price change. When I accepted the revised quote, the company representative arrived and presented me with the contract for $9,800. Confronted with the written quote for $7450, he responded that this was a mistake. So, giving them a benefit of a doubt, I then asked for detailed new estimate for $9800 in writing. The third, revised estimate has arrived, this time for still higher amount of $12,450. My repeated calls were returned after 2 days and when I expressed my disbelief about this higher amount, I was told that the company has made a mistake again by quoting the previously increased quote of $9,800. This was it. I refused to deal with them faced with complete unreliability. It was a nightmare type of experience. My contact at Prime Home Improvement was Ron Ciuffetelli.
Description of Work: I have requested estimate for stucco repair, power washing and stucco painting.

Description of Work: We just bought a house that was a short sale. We knew we were getting a fixer upper and the price was good. We joined Angie's list to find good contractors to help with the repairs. I told all vendors that I was looking for a long term relationship and whomever did the right thing by me on the roof would see future business. The first project was the roof, which was really bad. I took a day off work to get estimates. I scheduled 2 Angie's list vendors and 2 others that had done family members' roofs. The non Angie's contacts didn't even show. One of them told me he would drive by and take a look during the week. I told him not to bother. The first A.L. vendor came and he was polite, but he wouldn't go on roof, said he can see everything he needs to see from the attic. He didn't even leave literature on the materials, gave me a high quote and kept going on about how they do everything "over" code. I got a very "corporate" vibe off him and he really seemed more interested in his commission than answering my questions. Second appointment was Ron from Prime, who turned out to be one of the owners. He had no problem jumping on a ladder and walking my roof. When he came down he gave me an honest assessment of what needed to be done immediately and what could wait and gave me pricing for both repair and replacement. He quoted the EXACT same materials as the other guy, for less. He answered all my questions and was patient and informative. When he asked how we heard about Prime, I said A.L. and he told me there was a coupon and deducted that off his already lowered price. Not just on price, and actually mostly based on our interaction, we really liked him so we went with Prime for a complete roof replacement using Owens Corning architectural shingles. They showed up a few days later. Wow! Seriously. I kinda have to hold back on my praise or people will think I'm a schill for the company! They showed up early in the morning, and there was a total beehive of activity. They wasted no time getting to work. I wanted to take pictures through the process, but I wasn't prepared for how fast this crew moved. No grabass, just straight out work. A few hours later, my roof was naked and all the waste was in the dumpster. I ran to the store and when I got back, they had already replaced the sheathing and had the underlayment down. All before lunch. Did I mention wow? After a short break for lunch, they were back up on the roof shingling and flashing and they were DONE by like 5 o'clock! It was like a ballet on my roof. It was actually entertaining to watch these guys work. I'm not normally a "watcher" but I was fascinated with the way these guys moved and got things done. I had bought a vent fan for the bathroom, they threw that in for free. They asked if I wanted the old rooftop antennae removed, and took that down and chucked it in the dumpster for me. They saw some garbage bags and other debris on the side of the house, and threw that in there too (unasked). I had gotten a few pallets to use to elevate firewood and they asked if they were garbage because they were willing to throw that in too. I walked the perimeter of the house. There wasn't a single nail, piece of shingle, piece of wood etc to be found, ANYWHERE. I didn't expect it to get done so fast, so I didn't even have a check ready. No problem! Ron said I could even mail a check if I had to. Who does that? I put $10K for the price because I can't recollect price right now, but I'm pretty sure it was (well) below that. A few days later we had severe rains and not unexpectedly, we're totally dry. Overall I would definitely recommend Prime and especially Ron. I'm doing this report a while after the actual work. My next door neighbor is getting his roof done as I type, by some other outfit. He's getting same shingles, same color. They've been at it since Thursday, today is Saturday. It's noon, and it doesn't look good to be finished today. He should have asked me who did mine, he'd be done 2 days ago if he went with Prime. We liked the roof job so much, we decided to do windows this year instead of in the Spring and yes, we called Prime! They're actually finishing them as I type, but that's a different report.

+ 1 moreHe first gave me an estimate on the work that needed to be done. I had taken the Big Deal of Angie's List for the roof inspection and he did the caulking for free. He came out right away when I called. I got a whole bunch of stuff in the mail and it was wonderful. He told me that the other work for which I have taken an estimate was necessary to be done right away. I give him the highest ratings across the board. I will definitely use him when I need the other work done.
Description of Work: I have used Prime Home Improvement for roof inspection. He also did some caulking work around the chimney. He has also given me an estimate for some other work.

+ 3 moreA service representative scheduled an appointment for an estimate on Friday, 9/30/11 at 10 o'clock. Since my schedule is somewhat erratic, I called two weeks prior to this date in order to rearrange any commitments, thereby leaving the day free to meet with Prime Home Improvement. When no one called or arrived by 10:30, I called the listed number and spoke to a young lady who informed me that the person with whom I was to meet was only coming into the office at one o'clock. Giving no apology or reason for the miscommunication, she rescheduled for two o'clock that afternoon. At 2:30, when no one arrived, I called to see if once again, we were forgotten. The young lady was no longer answering the phone so I opted for the "Sales" voice mail requesting a call back. At approximately 3:30, I again called and opted for the "Service" voice mail but was told the mailbox was full. I attempted twice to be connected to the operator, hoping the same young lady with whom i initially spoke would answer. A recording informed me the operator was not taking any calls at this time. Again I left messages. Needless to say, no one returned my calls that afternoon or Monday. In fact, I have yet to hear from anyone at Prime Home Improvement. I have a few house projects that need to be completed and was hoping Prime Home Improvement would be the solution. The reason I have been a member of Angie's List for a few years is to facilitate identifying quality service and not waste time dealing with unprofessional companies . I can understand and overlook glitches that inevitably occur from time to time but when there is no courtesy extended with at least a follow-up phone call explaining those glitches, I can only assume there is no regard for the customer. I cannot evaluate end results produced by Prime Home Improvement but can only say the initial impression was very negative and disappointing.
Description of Work: There were no services performed. An estimate regarding interior and exterior painting, some carpentry work and plastering was requested.

+ -1 moreRecently, I took advantage of a roofing maintenance offer with Prime Home Improvements at a cost of 150 dollars. On Sept. 17th a representative came and took some pictures of my roof. I brought him into my house and showed him leaks in two rooms. Beyond taking pictues, I do not know of any thing he did. Within 3 or 4 days he sent me a proposal replete with blown up pictures of what he had discovered with a brief description of corrections needed and the price thereof. As an older woman, I necessarily showed the proposal to my sons as it did not appear to address any of the problems, and they, too, found it unclear. On Monday, Sept. 26th, I called the representative and he seemed unsure of the proposal, but he assured me that he would come out the following morning and look at the roof again to figure out what to do. I never heard from him again. I'm very disappointed at the follow-through.

+ -1 moreI called on a Thursday and they showed up on Friday. Came into the bedroom where the leak was found, walked up on the roof, inspected it. He explained what the problem was and how to fix it, which they did. The work comes with a six month warranty, so if it leaks again, they'll be back out to fix it at no charge. He also inspected the flashing around my chimney, which I wasn't expecting them to do - they were very thorough. Overall, very pleased. I'm glad that they didn't try to sell me a new roof. My father was in construction and as a kid, I spent a many a summer up on a roof helping him out (well, as much as an eight year-old can help), so I'm no stranger to roofing and general construction. Often when I ask questions, I already know the answer but want to hear it from them. They were very honest, explained exactly what the problems were and how to fix it. Overall, very pleasant. Whenever it comes time to replace my roof, I will definitely call them.
Description of Work: I have a cathedral ceiling in the master bedroom. Thanks to Hurricane Irene, she helped me find a leak in my roof. Gotta love waking up at 3am to the sound of dripping water, landing on your hardwood floors. They came out, inspected my roof (I bought the home in 2010 and wasn't sure about the condition of the roof or its age; it looked "okay" but wanted a professional opinion anyway). Melvin came out and said my roof was fine and was about ten years old and will probably last another ten. There were several nails that had popped-up and caused several shingles to become loose. They went up there and resealed the shingles. I watched as the guy went to each and every shingle above my bedroom and lifted each one to see if they were 'barely holding on' or completely loose. They found that many were loose, much to my surprise.

+ 0 moreWe were most impressed with Prime's owner, Gino, and his knowledge of the business so we felt comfortable with giving them the job. They showed up when they said they would, and worked on it until it was done. They ended up having to replace about 20 sheets of plywood but nevertheless completed the job in 2 days as promised, including cleanup. I did learn during the course of the work that the crew of 4 or 5 guys had worked together for 5 years. There was a miscommunication to the crew about the chimney flashing which was supposed to be copper so they mistakenly installed aluminum. No problem, they sent the foreman back to replace it with copper. The aluminum gutters are a higher quality type attached with screws rather than the nails that tend to pull out. Even with all the rain we had the past 2 months and the hurricane there have been no leaks. I have already recommended them to my own mother for gutter work and will request them to quote our next project.
Description of Work: We had four roofers quote the job on our 2000 sq ft ranch. Quote was for removing 2 layers of old roofing, replacing any bad sheathing, new flashings, drip edge & gutters. Prime was slightly lower priced than the #2 bidder and both were way under #3 & 4. Plus they threw in a free roof vent and hooked it up to the 2 bathroom fans that had been venting into the attic.

I called them twice in a week, and was told someone will call me back, but nobody called. I waited a week, and called them again, got the same answer and still no one called me. I do not want to waste time with them anymore, so I canceled the deal with AngiesList. Be aware!

+ 2 moreIt started out rocky since they did not come on our scheduled evening. I was seeking a bid for roofing and siding. It was pouring rain, so I wasn't sure it would happen, but I was unhappy that I didn't even get a phone call to say they weren't coming. We did reschedule. Prime provided a thorough bid and even put up with me peppering them with additional questions via email after. My roof was leaking before Hurricane Irene, and Prime came out to secure the tarp on the roof prior to the storm. The project didn't start on time, but that's because I asked them to add new skylights to the project after I signed the contract and we had to wait for those to arrive. I was very happy with the roofing team. The siding team was also very good, but they weren't quite as thorough with their clean up. The painting team was also very respectful, curteous, and efficient. I would recommend Prime (and I already have).
Description of Work: I used Prime to install a whole new roof, three new skylights, new siding, and to do some interior repairs due to water damage and they repainted the bathroom.

The quality of work, prices, timing of the project and overall service was a 10+. You will never find another home improvement company more reliable, organized and customer friendly than Prime Home Improvement! The Paint crew always showed up on time, Prime replied to my emails instantaneously, sent me photos of examples with pricing guidelines, stayed within the original estimate/budget and cleaned up after every day that his team worked on our house (Do you know how AWESOME it is to come home to a front yard that doesn’t look like a construction yard with paint spills and ladders everywhere!? I loved that they were so respectful of our home!) The crew vacuumed out the paint chips that had fallen inside the window and always made sure we were happy with the work that was accomplished that day. I highly recommend Prime Home Improvement and their ability to "WOW" me as a customer. Installation was finally completed to my satisfaction. Subsequently received a "Thank You" letter which included discounts for any new customers I might refer.
