We called Howard to explain our leak situation and he tried to help us fix it ourselves over the phone, but we did not have the right tools. He was an hour late due to a previous job, but did call to let us know. Howard was very professional and educated my husband about our pipe system and things to look out for. Fortunately, we did not need to change our leaking pipe, as it was fixed with the tightening of a bolt. Howard did not charge us for his time, but I did go ahead and tip him because he deserved it for his professionalism, sincerity, and friendliness. We also very much appreciated his candor feedback on not needing to replace a valve that was broken (many vendors may "recommend" doing so to earn the fees, versus what is best for the customer): this creates a valuable trust in the service provider. I would recommend Howard/Pro Mechanical Plumbing highly, and would use him again.

I had a heating emergency on a Sunday afternoon, and Howard Linzer was the only person who returned my calls and helped me. It was the night before the blizzard. Even though I have service/therapy animals that I use with my patients in my house, two currently being sick and under a vets care, and stated that in most of my phone messages, no one else returned my calls except for Howard Linzer. He was very professional, had a pleasant attitude, and he restored heat within two hours after arriving. I was so grateful! He also pointed out other things he noticed that were compromising the efficiency of my heating system, and a serious potential problem in my plumbing which could be remediated very affordably. Howard Linzer is a real pro, really is available 24 hours in an emergency, and I will be using him again.

Overcharged for a simple sump pump replacement. Howard charged $1350 for an hour and a half's work, $600 for materials, $750 for labor, even though the materials actually cost less than $300 (a 0.4 hp Blue Angel sump pump, a floater and a small valve). I confronted him about the high charge and said he misled me. He responded that he was "running a business". After some arguing, we agreed on $1000 for the price, which was probably still too high. Not even sure it was necessary to replace the sump pump at all. It was simply clogged but Howard said it would be cheaper to replace the whole thing at $1350 than to figure out why it was clogged and fix it. Very disappointed. Would never hire again. UPDATE: After Howard's response, which just further confirms his sleaziness, I wish there was a grade of double-F so that I could grade him even worse. First of all, Howard conspicuously does not dispute that he overcharged for the sump pump replacement, because he can't. He tried to cheat us, and I called him on it. And I have all the paperwork in which he crossed out his bogus prices to prove it, so there's nothing he can say. Second, Howard says that he came "on time." Actually he arrived over a half hour late. It didn't make a difference to me, since I was home anyway, but don't lie about it, Howard. Then Howard says the job took 4 hours. Actually it took an hour and a half. But who's counting. Third, the piping section was not included (and if it was supposed to be, Howard you owe me an even bigger refund). Fourth, I didn't "play" on my phone, nor did I spend "half an hour" on it. I took literally a minute to pull up a webpage on my phone showing the correct price of the sump pump that Howard overcharged me on by over $300. Sorry, Howard, to take up your precious time by pointing out that you were cheating us. Fifth, I only went to the bank because you, Howard, demanded that I pay in cash. Not a check, not credit card, cash only (as if I carry $1000 in cash in my wallet). Maybe Howard wanted to cheat the IRS too? Hopefully the IRS reads this. Finally, I was not only dissatisfied with the price. I am also dissatisfied with Howard's utter lack of professionalism, and the fact that Howard replaced the sump pump to jack up the price when he could have just fixed it (which was my original suspicion and based on my Internet research since is accurate). The new sump pump does work fine, so I'll give Howard that, but if that's your bar for a quality plumber, then that's a very low bar indeed. I feel bad for all of the customers on this page who were less knowledgeable and got hoodwinked by Howard without even knowing it. And the worst part is, after cheating us, Howard tries to scare off other contractors from helping my family? Just so disgusting.

Howie personally answered my call after 6 pm and was at my house 3 hours later. His first attempt to unfreeze the pipe was unsuccessful, not because of him, but because my pipes are plastic and not copper. Therefore, they could not conduct the heat from his heating machine. Howie did not give up, though. He managed to somehow bypass the cold water with the hot water, unfreezing the pipe! While he was here he quickly fixed a problem with the cold water pressure in the master bathroom, unrelated to the frozen pipe. I thought his price was reasonable considering my last minute call and his responding late at night. Howie was friendly and professional and I would definitely use him again. A+!

Excellent. The Plummer explained everything and said if it backed up again he would do it again free of charge. Two weeks ago I had it done by a someone I was familiar with and it did not go as well. Thank-you so much . Angie's list is truly a Godsend for me. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you

Howard was very professional and went above and beyond to get the sediment out of the pipes. He also explained where some off the main pipes were. As a new home owner I was glad to have things explained to me and have the job done correctly. I will hire him again

Howard helped us diagnose a blocked sewer line in our basement. He referred us to another company to do the job.

Contacted Howard because I had a leaking main shutoff valve. Came over looked at at the valve and told me what my options were and we scheduled to have the job doe a few weeks later. Came on time with all the necessary parts and equipment. Worked was done fast and clean in two hours. HIghly recommend. No more leaks.

Howie came and confirmed that I was getting gas into the system and the pilot would only light when the button was held down. He ended up having to replace the pilot assembly, sensor, and tube. The new tube is about double the thickness of the old one. After getting the boiler working, he showed me the different parts of my heating system and explained what the different parts did. While doing that, he checked my system and noticed my system had very low pressure. He explained what that meant (cold radiators on the top floor is an effect - which I had), a simple fix, and what the worst case scenario could be. I got out of work relatively early today and bought a couple of radiator keys, I bled out the air from the radiators on the top floor, allowed more water into the system by slowly opening up the pressure reducing valve by the boiler supply pipe to bring it up to 15 PSI, and all the radiators are now hot!

It went very well. Howie came over to check out the water heater and said it did not need to be replaced. He said to keep a watchful eye over it due to its age but because it is not leaking/rust and fully functionally he would not recommend replacement at this time. He showed me some other areas of concern in my basement that involved plumbing. I asked him how much it would be to replace (just to get an idea) and his pricing was very reasonable and fair. He seems like an honest individual and extremly knowledge in his field. I will defintely use him for my future need.

Everything went well. They placed plastic on the floors to keep my house clean and were neat and concerned for my needs. He answered all my questions and put me at ease during the process. Thanks !!

I needed an emergency job done as we had a leak. I called several firms. Howard said he would come right over after he finished another job. Very professional work. Fair pricing and fast service. Also Howard is reachable by cell phone. That is very helpful. I would recommend Howard and his helpers who are also very professional and nice people.

My tankless water heater was not working. I called and asked for them to come out to take a look and repair it. I spoke to Howard who told me it would be easier if I figured out what the issue was and then he could come and replace the part.

Our hot water was not working. They came in the same day and found that somebody had turned the switch off by stairs. They did not charge us at all. They are very polite, efficient, & knowledgeable. I have used them before and am going to us them again.

They were fantastic. Since they?ve come we?ve had no problems with the leak, which we had for almost a year. We had an issue the next day, we called them up, they came back and fixed it. They were very thorough. They were on time and they were very professional. If I had any plumbing problems I would call them right away. I don?t really know how their pricing was compared with other.

Howard,and his worker thoroughly covered all areas with plastic, so where they were working was not soiled. They did a great job,and cleaned up before they left. Its hard to find a good plumber,and I find Howard to be very fair,and goes into great detail explaining what needs to be done,and answers any questions. Definitely not a rush job. I absolutely will continue to use this company in the future, and recommend them to friends, and family.

Howard is a genuine expert and pleasant human being. My wife and I just moved to Lynbrook and needed a professional to connect a gas line to our dryer and valves for our washer. He investigated one night to decide what was needed and 24 hours later our machines were installed. To no fault of his own, a couple of minor problems ensued which needed the attention of an expert. We called Howard again and he gladly returned to fix the minor problems. Not only does Howard know his craft, but he is fun to talk to as well! My wife and I highly recommend Howard's services.

The folks from Pro Mechanical were very courteous and prompt. They came out and gave me an estimate after we reviewed the problem together. They were very knowledgeable and did the job quickly, professionally, and without issues. I would definitely use them again.

They were polite and timely at first. Vacuum breaker on outside hose spigot was leaking. I thought it was sealed to the hose pipe, though it turns out that all he had to do was unscrew it and replace. Took him less than two minutes of his time. His charge for that service was $75 plus the $150 for him to just walk in the door . The total with tax, minus Angies List discount was $231.50. I told him that it seemed like a lot to charge $75 to screw in a $5 part. He got insulted and became sarcastic. I did not think that was professional and did not think it was a good value.

The Service Provider, Howie, called me directly to assess the problem over the phone. He was very helpful and offered useful advise. He did not feel as though I needed a new water heater, and instead suggested that I get in touch with the oil company to have a valve replaced. I've since had the oil company out and they have replaced the valve and my water heater is fully functional again. Very happy with the advise I received from Howie.

Our issues started at 9pm with no water draining in the downstairs toilet, sink or washer. My husband called Howard that night and let him know the system we have and the issues being experienced. Howard walked my husband through trying to troubleshooting the pumping system over the phone. With his help we were able to get things at least drained to stop the waterfall effect that we had going on. He came by the next evening when we got home from work, right on time. He did more on-hand troubleshooting and our system started to work. He gave us advice on how to clean the pump out (vinegar and baking soda!). I guess since no 'work' was technically performed, there was no charge! Everything's working like a charm now! I would definitely recommend Howard and we will be using him for any plumbing issues we have. He knows what he is talking about (according to my husband) and we are both extremely satisfied.

I phoned on the same day the service was provided. Howie answered the call. I love when i don't need to speak to a middle person to relay problems and ask questions! So the experience was great from the start. He was very nice on the phone and told me that he would visit between 3-5 pm.(I had asked that he come after 3 because i would not be home until then) He asked me all the right questions about my problem and then told me that with a clogged toilet, which was my problem, it is usually quick and easy, he estimated that it would cost about $125. It was...but after some discussion, we agreed that it would be worth it to replace the toilet all together. If not, we would just have to continue calling & paying a plumber to unclog the toilet... So he did. and it was all done on the same day! He was super clean and neat and now we have one of those new power flushing toilets that doesn't leak or constantly run water, as our old one was doing, and no more clogs! Thank you Howie... We actually need him again to help change a kitchen faucet...so i will be calling soon...
