Fred's Chimney Magic

I didn't call for any other estimates. I based everything on Angie's reviews. Mike and his partner came out to do the estimate---they were punctual and very professional. Mike gave me a detailed estimate for the work I was asking for and also suggested a few other things that could be done. They followed up with a phone call a couple of days later, and a few days after that they came to do the work. Everything was done as promised. Overall, they are very professional, punctual and they do what they say. I'm sure they're not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I would rather not cut corners on things like this to save a few bucks. I would definitely use them again.

Fred and his team were extremely professional, punctual and very knowledgeable. We spent a little more than initially expected, but are very happy with the quality of the work.

Most professional, knowledgeable, kind and honest team that cleaned my dryer vents that extend the length of my house from the first floor laundry room to a crawlspace. Both gentleman made it all seem simple. I thought that they would have a hard time fitting near the dryer, but they just made it happen with a smile. The manager of the team even bracketed the vent to the wall for me, so my cat could not walk on it. (his gracious idea). For scheduling purposes I was in touch with the office on a few occasions and each person was very easy to deal with. Always went out of their way and most friendly. I wil use this company again and plan on contacting them for waterproofing and/or brick work for my other house.

They found out that my set up didn't meet guidelines. They redid the set up at a very good price. I was very satisfied with the service from Chris and Dan.

Was very pleased with the punctuality, cleanliness, and amount ot time it took to perform the requested services, however was less than pleased with the tacit duress imposed by the serviceman afterwards to perform over $2K in "recommended" additional repairs.

They came on time, seemed to know what they were doing (as far as I can tell), cleaned up nicely, and were very friendly. What's not to like?

Mike first came to my house to perform a chimney sweep. Upon completion he recommended installing a stainless steel liner and explained all the benefits that come with that. I had already considered doing this and went ahead and set up an appointment with him while onsite. Upon return, Mike and Mike were the technicians that did the installation and they were very unprofessional and courteous at the same time. The work was completed quickly and efficiently. They will review other services they offer with you but not pressure you into signing up for any of them. I would recommend them to anyone looking to do this type of work.

We really needed the main side of house done because we had a fire. They came and didn't even tell us they didn't do any gutter cleaning on that left side. They didn't do it because it was hard for them to get to it but they would come back out later. When they came back out they still couldn't do it. They said they would refund me and never did. I did never call them back for the refund, but they haven't bothered either.

Company scheduled promptly. I was very impressed that the company offered a narrow time frame for arrival of service, as opposed to companies that say "we'll be there between 9 AM and 7 PM. Fred's gave a 2-hour window (my choice of time of day), arrived within that window and completed the work withing that time frame. I was able to plan my day rather than sit and wait for them to come. The only service I wish they had done was to vacuum out the vent inside my dryer. I assumed they would do this so I did not specify this request. However even without that task, my dryer has run much more efficiently since Fred's did their work. Finally, a company representative called me later on the day of service to see if I was satisfied with the work. I appreciated that prompt follow up. One of the two men who did the work had given me an approximate price for cleaning out my central air conditioning vents. When I told the representative the price quoted was a bit steep for me, she said the company would do their best to modify the price if I choose to have this work done. I put it off for now, but I would certainly call Fred's when I am ready to proceed on that job.

I knew we had issues with our fireplace, the funny thing was I could not get a referral from anyone including a contractor and the owner of our local hardware store. That's when I signed up for Angie's List and found Fred's Chimney Magic. I called to schedule a cleaning and the ladies in the office were great. Chris came and cleaned both the fireplace and oil flues. He then gave me a detailed estimate of the work needed with informational documents on the products they use, there was no hard sell. After reviewing the estimate I called later in the week to schedule the much needed work. Janice and Annette worked with me on the price and we scheduled the appointment. Chris and Orlando returned to do all the work, they were friendly neat and on time. I had the following done: Both chimney flues cleaned, a stainless steel liner installed to the oil burner, waterproofed the entire outside of the chimney, sealed the smoke chamber with Smoketite, installed a new vent cap, and had a new rigid dryer line installed. We are very pleased with the work that was done and there outstanding customer service.

They arrived onetime for the appointment. The estimate was discussed with homeowner and the job was completed to the owners expectations.

They were efficient and thorough. I thought their service was good.

It was my first time using them and they did great. They were very professional. They offered me a couple different options that I had not really thought about. They seemed to really have my safety in mind and I really appreciate that. They were pretty much on time.

Received a very thorough description of the services to be provided when Fred came to the house to give an estimate. He provided info. (including pics and reference materials) before providing a written estimate. He was able to schedule an appt. within the week in order to do the job. Received one other estimate from another company and it appears that JFT's price is competitive. Relied upon Fred's recommendations as to the extent of work that needed to be completed (i.e., he recommended not only lining the chimney but filling the bottom, insulating, etc.). Fred/co-worker showed up as scheduled, completed work methodically, and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards - including sweeping the basement and cleaning up around the outside of the house! Both men were courteous and professional and worked for about four straight hours to complete the job on a relatively hot day. I am quite satisfied with the work done.

Just perfect. Mike was such a great help when he came for the chimney cleaning. I felt so comfortable having him in my home. He was extremely detailed and explained everything to a level in which anyone could understand. He created a positive experience from the moment he walked into my home until he left. A++++.Thanks!!!

Two very polite men came and inspected the chimney and cleaned it. They were prompt, courteous, and went out of their way to answer my questions.They did recommend that I have a chimney liner installed and explained exactly why. However, I never felt pressured by them. The company did a follow-up call to make sure I was happy with their service.

Called for appt. on Thursday- scheuled appt for the following Monday. Company called on Saturday to give 2 hour window (noon-2 pm) of time when they would arrive on Monday. On Monday morning I recevied a call from the company telling me they were on their way. Mike actually arrived around 11:45 am. He was polite and professional. Gave a thorough list of recommendations of work that we should consider in order of priority- no heavy pressure to do any work immediately- no scare tactics. Will definitely have them return to do work in the future.

The job went fine. They did what they said. I don't know if I got the best price but they did a nice job. I was in the middle of things and knew I needed the work done so I didn't shop around for price. I didn't have to call them back for anything. They were very professional.

I was very satisfied with him. He gave me a really good offer for a big house. I liked everything. When he was here, he did a really nice job. Even when he did it on the right date, I had one date ahead of different one and when I called to verify it, he was so sorry that he canceled the other appointment to come to me because he realized that he made a mistake. I would recommend him to everybody. He also did the furniture for me without charging.

It went very well overall. Fred is a very personable gentleman. He is excellently qualified at his work. I did not have a removable cap on the dryer vent pipe so they had to cut off the existing cover, clean out the vent pipe and then install a new cap that is removable. It was a bit of cost that I wasn't expecting however, I fully understand it had to be done in order for them to do their job. Fred and the man that works with him were both very nice and up front about everything. I would recommend them. Great job Fred!

It went like clock-work. The secretary kept in constant contact with me after my initial call to the company. Her communication was clear, direct, and accommodating. .The men were friendly but worked quietly. While they had to work in the basement where my elderly mother resides, they were respectful and unintrusive which I appreciated greatly. As far as the quality and price of the work, I'm really unable to assess that. As of now, I would call them again if I have work to do.

Arrived on time. Cleaned up area before leaving price was reasonable forget to get their names or should I say I forgot to write it down.

Pretty fast and painless. Also, entertaining.
