Fred's Chimney Magic

I called the office they was friendly, professional and informative. They called me back to confirm appointment. He called before arriving to my house that he was on his way. They arrived on time. Evaluated my gutters. They did a great job cleaning gutters. My husband and I highly recommend them. I will call them again in the future.

Two servicemen arrived as scheduled. We were very satisfied with their services and have scheduled for a chimney cleaning next week.

If you need your gutters cleaned then you have to call this company and have Mike do the work. If you don't want to have to watch everything that is being done to make sure that nothing has been missed, then have Mike do it. Mike arrives on time and gets those gutters and leaders thoroughly cleaned out! Don't even bother to call anyone else because you have found your man, Mike. He aggressively attacks the problem areas including those stubborn elbows that sometimes clog! Mike is the one!!!!!!!!!

The clay inside of the chimney was crumbling. They replaced it with a single piece stainless steel insert lining. The top of the chimney had no cap which was added, and re cemented the top of the chimney. Fred also informed me that my gas hot water heater was vented into the chimney incorrectly. He then installed a proper sleeve which vented the water heater, and the furnace in the proper manner. Fred was awesome, nice, and seemed extreemly knowelegable.

The two man crew arrived on schedule following an advance call coordinated from their office staff. They explained the work to be performed and began without delay. They worked without a break and clearly were experienced in what they do. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

The house and the deck were very dirty. The deck had never been power washed and the house had not been cleaned in years. Eduardo and Tommy were very meticulous and cleaned all the nooks and crannies on the house, the rear door deck and the patio deck of the house. When they were finished, the house and the deck looked better than when it was first built. This is the second time that work was done on our house by Fred's, and both times we were very happy with the work performed. Tommy and Eduardo worked very hard to make our house look great and addressed any questions or concerns that we had. The whole power wash took approximately eight hours due to the size of the house and deck. I would definitely recommend Fred's for any work that you need to be done in their category.

The technician was timely, professional, kind, polite -- really surprised me! I always have low expectations when it comes to home and appliance repairs. I've recommended Fred's to lots of friends since our service and had them come back this year too.

Good detailed estimate for future work

He was very straight forward. Told us what our options were. Told us what the cost would be for each option. Did not press us into making a decision on the spot.

Two men came to my home to honor the Deal, and instead of staying up there, they came back down and told me that the gutters were clean and didn't need any work. I had a problem with water flow and thought the gutters were the issue, but they said it was more likely a problem with the roof. I was floored with their honesty and the fact that they didn't try to do an easy job and get paid for something that wasn't necessary. I will certainly call them again if I need additional work.

It went great. They showed up on time and cleaned two fireplaces and the burner chimney. Worked quickly and left it clean. They managed to work around the contractors that were also there at the same time without a problem.

It went fine and everything worked well. Everything was good. Whatever they did, we contracted and it was good. There were no issues at all. It was such a long time ago, I do not remember. I would use them again.

It was a very good experience. They called to set up the app't when they said they would; called that AM to confirm; arrived on time and with all equipment needed; had professional and friendly personnel and were very reasonable in price. What more could you want?

I called them to set up an appointment, and they were polite and friendly, but informed me that they don't service my area. They guided me back to Angie's List for a refund.

They arrived on time and called first. The Angies' List price special was only for 50 ft.., I had 100 ft of gutters. I had to pay extra to get 2 sides completed. They offered to do the whole house for $875.00 but I thought that was a little expensive- they charged you $7.50 per square foot for the extra footage, the special was $6.00 per square foot.

It went well. They did a thorough job, showed up when they were supposed to, and didn't leave a mess!

Purchased the dryer vent cleaning as an Angie's Big Deal. I was having no problems, but just figured that it was time for such a cleaning. I scheduled the appointment easily, shortly after purchasing the "deal," and the serviceman was polite, friendly and performed the cleaning from outside with a machine from their truck. Not part of the aluminum drying tubing was opened, but it was explained that it was not necessary. As there is no way to "see" if the work was done properly, I just have to assume it was. Everything has since worked smoothly since, as far as I know. He told me that a "lot of lint was removed." Well, that is why I had called for a service appointment. The serviceman did try to sell me a chimney cleaning, not knowing whether or not one was needed, but I declined, or said that I would think about it. This was followed by several messages left on our answering machine, asking if/when I wanted to schedule the chimney cleaning, which was rather annoying even though the lady was nice enough. I kept meaning to phone them to ask them to stop calling, but I did answer one day when they phoned, and asked that they please stop calling. I just found the follow-up calls a tad pushy. In addition, when I presented the Angie's coupon to the serviceman, he told me that I owed tax, which was okay with me, but he said it has to be CASH. When I inquired why, he responded that Angie's List doesn't deal with tax, or something like that. I thought that most odd, but i paid him the less than $ 8.00 due, but still don't understand his explanation.

Fred's Chimney sent two workers who arrived at the exact time scheduled. Both were extremely courteous and professional. They detailed the scope of the job they were about to undertake and then proceeded with the actual work. They completed the job in about twenty minutes. I was completely satisfied with the results and the cost.

Purchased a Big deal for Fred's Chimney Magic/JFT. Had them clean the gutters. They also put caps and the vent covers on the roof. Everything went very well. They were efficient and friendly.

The work went very well. They were very professional, called when they were on the way, came in their window and were very nice. I was very happy.

Well, this is complicated. I have used FCM for several cleanings and repairs over the last four or five years. In 2012, I had them powerwash our whole house, which had developed a lot of mold. They charged $650 for something under four hours of work, which I thought was high, but they did a very fine job. So I called them in this year, saying that last year's price struck me as excessive, and that this year I wanted to also have a small area of roof cleaned, and I hoped they could give me a better price. We settled on $650 again, for the house plus the section of roof -- a verbal agreement by phone. When Chris came, he asked what sections I wanted washed and I said the whole house plus a small section of roof, and he said that washing the whole house would cost "a lot more" than $650. So I called the office, where the receptionist told me that she had checked the paperwork, and that the workers last year had not cleaned the whole house. So I went to my files and found my paperwork, which was a written estimate for washing the whole house and calculated "a minimum of three hours." So I asked her what the hourly rate was, and she said $119; so I said that, clearly, I had been overcharged last year, and they seemed to be intent on overcharging me this year. I suggested that they just bill me for, and provide, one hour of powerwashing at $119/hour, and clean off the section of roof where there was mold. In the end, that is what they did: the small roof and the adjacent walls. They billed me for the hour plus tax, and did a very fine job. But my husband and I agreed that we would never hire them again. The puffing of the prices, last year and this, was very disturbing, and I would not trust them in the future.

They were very good. They recommended a new flu liner, but I haven't taken them up on the offer yet. They were very professional, friendly, and they did a good job.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. They did a fine job and were done and gone within about 40 minutes. This was the first time I used them. They were very courteous and explained what they were going to do ahead of time. Their pricing was fine and they showed up right on time.

They postponed the first appointment but were punctual on the second. I called them back to handle an aesthetic issue remaining after they did the functional job, and they willingly and promptly returned and accommodated the request. They have excellent telephone notification and follow up service to assure satisfaction. We would use them again.

I was having a new gas boiler installed. They suggested I get the chimney cleaned. I called Fred's on Wednesday. It was last minute. He made an appointment for Thursday. They called back on Wednesday afternoon to let me know that they had a cancellation and came Wednesday instead. He showed up, was very professional and didn't try to pressure me into buying additional services. I was very satisfied and would highly recommend Fred.
