Description of Work: I bought the $79 deal from Angie's List. Tom and his team arrived on time. Performed inspection of the fireplace which had not been used for the last 10 years. The fireplace was cleaned/vacummed and swept. Tom informed me that I can go ahead and use the fireplace and can add a sealant after few years. No pressure tactics. Description of Work: Fabricated out of stainless steel and installed chase cover, stainless steel sleeve and stainless steel chimney cap for my wood frame chimney soffit. The soffit houses a double walled aluminum/galvanized steel telescoping pipe which vents my gas furnace and hot water heater. Wind driven rain water was getting into the soffit and being deposited onto my new gas furnace. The existing chase cover was torn up and damaged by Hurricane Sandy but we didn't realize that until after the gas burner and hot water heater were recently replaced (both were leaking water in the basement which masked the problem of water getting into the chimney soffit and running down the galvanized chimney). I originally believed we would have to gut the chimney soffit and replace everything; this would have been a very expensive proposition...excess of $7,000. Instead Fred's Chimney MagicJFT came up with the proper solution which was also the most cost effective solution. Our technician was Mike Slattery, a guy who really knows his stuff, a thorough professional. These folks showed up when they said they would and handled the installation seamlessly. Mike also recommended a cap for the vent pipe that vents sewer gas from our toilets and sinks. The idea is to prevent small animals and birds from getting in, dying and clogging up the vent. For $89 I thought that was a great idea and the vent cap was quickly installed. All in all, Fred's/JFT is great; I highly recommend them and I would use them again without hesitation. I located Fred's/JFT via Angie's List where they are 100% "A" rated. Their reputation is well deserved.
