Fred's Chimney Magic

After a recent rain storm the chimmney housing and cap were ripped from the house. Contacted JFT on Saturday, and they showed up on Monday as they promised. I authorized them to complete an estimate. After they completed the estimate Fred took the time to explain exactly what needed to be done. The items he listed dovtailed nicely with my research, as did his price. When I matched up my experience with what I read on AL I decided to have them do the work. Fred and his helper showed up at the time he promised, and completed the work on a timely basis (the same day). Although I was not able to climb up to roof they provided me with numerous pictures of the work completed, which all appeared to be in order. The boiler room was left clean, and all materials were taken.

I did have another estimate from another company and they didn't match it so that was good. Then they agreed to a price and then tried to charge me about $40 extra on one thing. I spoke up and said that it wasn't what we agreed on so they went back to their original price. I kind of didn't like that, however, I would use them again if needed.

Fred's Chimney Magic was very professional. I called them last week to schedule an appointment in Brooklyn to clean my fireplace. At first, I wasn't even sure if they serviced Brooklyn considering they were all the way out in Long Island. They informed me that there would be a crew in Brooklyn the following Tues and that if I was available, they would be able to schedule an appointment for then. They provided me with a quote over the phone and told me they would call me the day before the appointment to confirm a time. As promised, a representative called me on Monday confirming a time (2-hour window) and informed me someone would contact me about 30 mins prior to their arrival. Again, as promised someone called exactly 30 mins prior to Mike & his partner ringing my doorbell. They were very professional about their work and was spot-on on their appointment. They brought a tarp to cover up the fireplace while they worked. They finished in about 20 mins and vacuumed the area after themselves. The fireplace has never been cleaner.. I'm extremely satisfied with Fred's Chimney Magic and will definitely contact them for all my future chimney work.. Thanks Freds Chimney Magic.

I called the company and requested my chimney to be cleaned, fireplace and furnace. They gave me a date and approximate time. They called the next day to confirm date and time. I was called when they were on their way. They came when expected, were fast, clean and professional. They gave me recommendations for additional work but no pressure and left me with a written estimate for future work if I am interested. They charged what was quoted for the work done. I would difinitely use them again and recommend their services.

He did a fine job. He was very inexpensive. However, he tries to sell us a whole bunch of stuff that isn?t really necessary at ungodly prices.

They did a good job and they were very professional. I felt that their prices were too high. After calling two other companies, I felt like their prices were not consistent. They were on time and were very neat. They also seemed to do the job well. We did speak to the company president about the price that was charged. I would not use their services again in the future.

Fred quickly responded to a problem with a water heater caused by reverse draft in my chimney. I called him on a Sunday and he had the job completed by the next day at noon. He was fast, responsible, courteous and professional.

Just cleaned the chimney and did not try too hard to convince us to do other things (although there was a pitch). Professional and easy to use. Update: After scheduling a follow up cleaning, the scheduler called to change our appointment. However confirming the new time, the scheduled insisted on calling several times in an inappropriate way to ensure that someone was home prior to the arrival of the team. When we complained that we should not have to reconfirm 3 and 4 times (especially when the original change was made to accomodate them) we were told in a rude way by the scheduler that she had to make sure we did what we said we would do. We won't use them again because we should not have to confirm we are home before they agree to send the crew over.

They arrived on time, and were very helpful, providing information about installing a better double-liner for heat chimney since ours is a single liner. We received information and estimates on the liner, cleaning the air ducts, and sealing the smoke chamber in the fireplace should we decide to use it in the future. We were very satisfied overall.

The Chimney cap fell off the chimney, so I checked angies list and found Fred. That was one of the best moves that I ever made.

They were very good. They came on time and got to work right away. They got the job done quickly. The price seemed okay, but I got the higher quality cap.

They took on very big jobs and managed to make the repairs without having to take apart the entire fireplace or rebuild it. The repairs seem to be holding up just fine. I was very happy with the work.

They are amazing. I wasn't able to hire them for the work, however, they did come out to diagnose the problem and did a wonderful job. They also did not charge me anything for the visit.

We went with him because of Angie's List and the BBB. They are very good. He explained exactly what and why things needed to be done and he did it.

Phone contact was friendly, tech showed up on time, worked efficiently, cleaned up after himself, and didn't try to up-sell me. Overall, very positive experience.

They were on time and ready for work-clean and neat.

I was very satisfied with the cleaning and the repair of the chimney. Fred and his helper were very neat and cleaned up after they were done. I was very surprised - most of the time I am always left with a mess to clean up. The office staff was very helpful and nice. They called to let me know that Fred was running a little late and was on his way. I will be using this service in the future.

Fred came looked at the problem, told me what needed to be done, and gave me a price. I accepted his price. He seemed extremely knowledgeable and experienced (he had a book showing prior work done). He and a helper came and did the repair when promised and promptly. In addition Fred pointed out and repaired code violation done by another vendor. I waited eight months since the work was done before entering this report. It has not leaked since.

They did some work that didn't resolve the problem. They wrote up an estimate. The estimate said the problem was the chimney. It ended up not being the chimney but I had paid $1000 for the work. I wrote a letter to them several times asking them to refund some of the money. Each time it was sent, it was sent six times, they wouldn't sign for it.

To access the bottom of the chimney, he removed the tube connecting my furnace to my chimney. He used a dust pan and brush and swept out the bottom, but did not clean the sides of the chimney, nor the full length of it up to the third floor and roof. They also gave me an estimate for replacing the chimney lining, and their estimate does not specify what kind of liner he would use and is very vague and sketchy. I think a company that has been in business for 20 years should present more professional estimate.

They arrived when they said they would, they were easy to talk to, treated me well and did a good job.

This company was just terrific! I had another chimney company tell me the only way to fix the problem of the chimney separating from the house was to completely rebuild it for $12,000; a handyman who was not licensed or insured gave us a higher estimate to strap the chimney to the house but without installing the new liner. The people from Fred's Chimney Magic came soon after I called to get an estimate, came when they said they were coming, explained everything well. When we contracted with them to do the job they informed us by calling right away when they had an unavoidable delay, showed up when they said they would, and did excellent work. When we had a minor problem the next day the man came out first thing the next morning to correct it. Place was left clean, job was done beautifully, everyone was a pleasure to deal with, including the person who answers the phone as well as the guys on the job. Thoroughly professional, excellent work, highly recommend them.

They made the appointment immediately. Called when they said they would. Had a book with clear descriptions of what they were doing and why. Took pictures of the inside of my chimney so I could see what was going on. Stayed till the job was done.

I had the chimney cleaned for the first time in forty two years. It was recommended that since the cement was deteriorating that I line the chimney. I knew it was time. The price seemed fair and I couldn't have been happier with the results.

We were given a 2hr window for their arrival and they also called ahead to tell us they were coming. When they arrived they got right to work, gave me the estimate for cleaning my vent and got everything done within about 1 hour. They were neat, efficient, and very nice.
