I found this company on Angie's List after the estimate I received from a different company. Frank was fantastic! He didn't end up doing any work because it was not necessary. I had other plumbers try to charge me for just a consultation. He told me that my circulator did not need to replaced and that it would be okay and that sometimes it can malfunction when the seasons change. He told me to oil it every six months to maintain it. I tried to tip him just for coming out but he would not accept it. I will use him in the future and would definitely recommend him. He is very down to earth and a lovely man.

They were very good. Once we were able to get them to come out and it was a couple of minor repairs or minor plumbing that we needed done they came out during they time they said they would. They did a good job and they let me watch and they explained things to me so it was a very good experience.

It was very good. We were very pleased. He was very reasonable.

We had quite a bit of work done. Lots of odds and ends. He was very professional and responsive. He's very busy and had to book him out in advance, but it was worth the wait. His price was on par with other estimates. I am very happy with the work done and will definitely use him again!

I scheduled an afternoon appointment and Nick called the night before to let me know he could arrive earlier. He gave me a 2 hour window and said he would call before he came. Nick called right before he came and arrived exactly when he said he would. He quickly fixed my broken drain pipe and even cleaned the adjoining pipes. He was fast and courteous, but what I found amazing was that he even cleaned my dirty water stained cabinet before he left (it was dirty from the dripping water before he got here). Nick is a real professional and does great work. I wasn't sure what to believe from the great reviews I read about him, but I can tell you he's every bit as good as they say.... And his pricing is fair and reasonable too!

called on Monday june 9 2014.said he call me back that day.to let me know when he had time to come over and give me a estimate.that he was busy.still have not heard back from him as of Wednesday night,found someone else.that came over and took care of it for me.

A1 Plumbing was punctual, professional and courteous. All plumbing problems were corrected and returned to working order in reasonable time period as promised. We would use his services again when needed.

Very responsive and setting up appointment was easy. Nick came promptly and even called ahead to confirm his arrival time. Installation and repair were done perfectly. The MOST impressive part was that while he was working in my home, there was an electrical problem (which he did NOT cause) and he called me immediately to advise me of the situation! It is obvious that Nick cares about his clients!

Estimate was $165 plus $7 for new pipe nut/gasket , minus Angie's list discount and that's what we paid plus tax. ...the plumber replaced a broken pipe nut / gasket and ran the snake down the drain pipe . The snake pulled out quite a bit of hair. Now the sink drains very well. I appreciate that the plumber cleaned up the area under the sink after the job.

Initially I called Nick from A-1 Plumbing & Heating because my garbage disposal suddenly stopped working and I had wanted him to fix it (I had used Nick in the past and found him to be very honest, reliable and efficient, not to mention very reasonable. He was, and still is, my go-to plumber.) Over the phone he asked me a few questions about how the disposal stopped working and he determined that the motor had burnt out. He said since the unit was over 8 years old it wasn't worth fixing because in a short period of time something else would probably break down in the unit. He recommended that I get a new one. I then ordered the same unit (actually the updated version) from Home Depot and when it came in I called Nick to install it. He came by with his assistant when he said he would and installed it. Since I have a farm sink instead of a standard-sized sink, it took a little more time to do the install than normal. After he was finished with that job, he went down to the basement to look at the water heater. The water heater was mysteriously leaking even though we never use it and was empty up until the day I had another plumber do work under the kitchen sink (I think this other plumber turned on the water to the water heater thinking that I would call him to repair it: that experience is for another Angie's List review), I initially called Nick for the job I eventually hired the other plumber to do but Nick could not physically fit in the space that needed work so he recommended a fellow plumber who had an assistant who was 5' 3" and small enough to work in the space.) Nick stopped the water from flowing into the water heater and drained the tank. He disconnected the electric wiring from the water heater to prevent the water heater from heating the now empty tank. When he tried to turn off the circuit that fed electricity to the water heater, Nick discovered that my circuit breaker panel was mislabeled and he was having a difficult time locating the correct circuit breaker. He offered stay as long as he had to to locate the breaker to the water heater but he suggested that I get a licensed electrician to correctly label my breaker panel, and locate and kill power to the water heater in the proper way. He put a plastic cap on the live wire and taped it up well. Before he left, he reiterated how important it was to get a licensed electrician in to finish the work he had started. Another great experience with A-1 Plumbing & Heating! The only drawback for me was that I was a little shocked when he gave me the bill because it was much more than I usually pay. But I didn't ask for an estimate beforehand so shame on me.

Nick called back shortly after I'd left my message. He fit me in sooner than I had hoped, which was really helpful. He and his colleague were courteous and professional. Nick had the toilet working in quick order and explained what he had done. He also took the time to make some general adjustments so the toilet would function better -- I am completely ignorant about this kind of thing, so I appreciated that. I felt the price was very fair for a skilled professional, and I would highly recommend A1 to anybody needing a plumber. You will be in good hands.

We were very happy. They're come and do the job and they do it in a timely manner. I have no problems recommending them to anybody.

I thought they were fine. They were courteous and they were clean. They did a good job. Their price was a little steep for unclogging the drain. They came on time. They were expensive. My only issue with them was the price. I appreciate that they did a good service and that's important too.

Nick was punctual, polite and professional! He called before he came and arrived at my house on time. I have a wobbling faucet in the bathroom which was installed 3 months ago. The plumber who installed it advised me to replace the faucet all together. As a result, I bought a new faucet ready for Nick to do the replacement. What impressed me the most is that Nick insisted on fixing the problem so that I don't have to replace it. He clearly has my interest in mind. He did a thorough job diagnosing the problem and then fixing it. He explained to me in details on what went wrong and what he did to fix it. The faucet has been holding up pretty well so far. The wobbling is gone. I can now return the faucet that I bought. Overall it was a great experience working with Nick and his assistant. I would definitely recommend A-1 to anyone that requires the service!

As ALWAYS, a professional & reasonably priced job!

It went well I had been told by another plumber that I would have to replace the toilet. Nick found the problem and fixed my existing toilet. He was on time, polite and gave an itemized bill citing the parts and work that had been completed. He took his time and double checked that everything was working properly, Rarely do I encounter a repairperson who is so honest and courteous.

Nick came on time, did exactly what he said he would for the agreed price. He was neat and very pleasant.

I called Nick to set up an appointment to repair a leak under my elderly mom's kitchen sink. He arrived as scheduled and called ahead to let me know he was on his way. Nick carefully assessed the situation and recommended replacing some rotted out pipes with new PVC piping. He did the job reasonably, quickly and in a professional manner. Nick went out of his way to thoroughly clean the sink floor which was covered in grease, and it looks great. In particular Nick was pleasant and polite with my mother who has some health issues, and I appreciate that. I would highly recommend A-1 Plumbing and Nick Gismondi.

Nick explained what had to be done to make the necessary repairs and discouraged us from purchasing unnecessary replacements. He indicated the cost of the required replacement parts and performed the work neatly and efficiently.

Repair was fine but they guys seemed lazy and left before completing all the work needed in the house even though it was only about 4 pm Bankers hours.

Fixed two toilets and a drip in a shower.

Remember the days when service repair people took pride in their work? When things weren't mass produced and the repair people stayed until the job was done and done right? Well I guess there are some people still around like that. A-1 plumbing is a great example. It is a company that caters to the needs of their customers. I couldn't be happier with their professionalism, price and quality of work. I recommend them if you don't want to get ripped off and want the job done right. There is no need to say more except I consider myself lucky that I found them.

I called A-1 plumbing because the toilet was leaking on bottom of base near the grout line. A-1 plumbing was able to find what the problem was very quickly and was efficiently able to fix the problem in a very professional manner. Don't watch those online videos on how to fix DIY projects. The way he was able to fix the problem was much better and quality was superior than what I saw or read about. To fix the toilet it involved using some plaster. It was ingenious and quality of his work outstanding after it was done. The laundry machine needed a on and off valve, for when it was not in use. And he was able to remove both of the antiquated valves and attach new better quality valves. While he was there a new laundry drain hose was replaced. It has made doing laundry so much easier since it has been installed without having to think about the valves. Also, he is a very friendly person. Every question I asked was answered politely and to my satisfaction. He probably is one of those people who would be good at whatever he wanted to do. For home owners on Long Island, we should be glad, plumbing was his choice of profession. Keep up the good service.

The faucet is over 15 years old and it was difficult to determine the maker. The plumber was pretty sure it was an American Standard faucet and had to go to a supplier for the cartridge, Turns out he was correct and was able to get the proper replacement cartridge and reinstall it. Works like new

We had removed a basement Kitchen sink and wanted a laundry sink put in next to the washer. It was about 12 feet in the opposite direction. They removed the water pipes and then turned the drain to the opposite direction. They reused what they could(as a savings of parts ) corrected a few minor issues and installed the laundry sink. They did a nice job and everything is working correctly. They cleaned up after the job and were very polite
