Description of Work: Air conditioner not working. Needed control board. While double checking installation of board Mike found it was a thermostat issue and instead of installing the board at a price of $700+ he only charged for the service call saving me potentially $650. I was very impressed with his integrity and will now use him for all our HVAC needs.

Description of Work: Updating a review I wrote about this company back in October. Had Ellenwood give me an estimate for installing a Flat Screen TV above my fireplace. I paid money up front as this was a "special" advertised by Angies list. The money would then be taken off the total bill after the work was done. Well I ended up not using them for the work. Later when I contacted Angies List to get my deposit back I was told the offer had expired. No refund. I Recently was contacted by Ellenwood re: the money I had paid. I was told it was in an escrow account and they offered to refund it to me less the $3 or so which was Angies list cut. What a great surprise and a huge thank you to Ellenwood electric for the follow up. Why didn't Angies list let me know this?

Description of Work: Mike replaced a ceiling fan in our vaulted ceiling (17 ft.) My husband told him that the ceiling was 12 foot, so he brought a ladder. When it would not reach, he went back and rented a bigger one. He was professional and courteous. He also found that the drop pipe we had was too large in diameter to fit the new fan. He made another trip to get the right size. Again he was professional and courteous. I would hire him again and I would recommend him. He persevered through many complications to finish the job.

Description of Work: Service was quick in response to an urgent call for a problem with my furnace. The repairman was at my home in under 30 minutes. Stayed a little over 1 hour to check system warning code(s) found the problem and fixed it. Repairman, Mike, was friendly and professional. Given the time I phoned for service, after midnight not sure if he could have done a little better on price. None the less I was grateful for his promptness and for restoring heat for my home. I plan to schedule another appointment for furnace cleaning at some point in the next few weeks.

Description of Work: I bought the cleaning offer, but knew that they would have to do more than that because at last year's cleaning Mike warned me that I would need a new igniter and a blower fan cleaning that would take about 2 hours. When you look at the number it seems high (and it did to me) but the parts replaced were over $200, so it's hard not be be high. Because I don't have a sense of cost comparison, I didn't feel I could rate the price on any scale that would be meaningful.

He was professional and pleasant and efficient. My furnace was cleaned in no time. I paid $59.95 on Angie's list and he did charge me $10.99, which he explained was a pre tax of $5.18 and an energy management charge of $5.00 and .81 tax. He also explained everything he was doing and I appreciated that. He recommended a condensation pump but did not push me to install one. Overall I believe he was very upfront. I would call him again if he had another deal.

I feel like they overcharged us and they found things that didn't really need to be done. I cant say they were wrong, but I really don't think those things needed done. I was also surprised that they were trying to contact me through email instead of picking up a phone and calling.

Best regards, Caroline Baars BP – Shorty after you had called our office and spoke with Caroline to schedule for 12/2/2013 and further stated “that your phone number is listed and that we should’ve looked you up and called.” (How are we to know that?) BP – On 12/2/2013 we conducted a furnace cleaning and safety inspection on your “York” furnace. Michael showed up and was greeted by [removed member name] (Husband) and shown the thermostat and furnace location. Michael asked Joe if he had any questions or concerns about the furnace and Joe replied “working fine no problems.” Performing routine maintenance tech found 4 concerns 2 of which needed replacement: 1) Blower Capacitor - original value 7.5mfd Reading 3.7mfd There is a 6% plus or minus of original value thus making this capacitor low and in turn blower motor working harder on start up. Recommend replacement. $156.00 2) Water panel to humidifier had not been replace for some time and looked as such. No records found. Recommend replacement. $38.00 3) Inspection of blower wheel - Found to be dirty and was recommend to be cleaned. Joe was informed that the blower wheel cleaning could not be perform at that time and needed to be scheduled at a later date to allow for an additional 1hr time to perform . Office to call. (Quoted but not charged) $158.00 4) Found loose wire – re-secured No Charge At that time Joe was presented with capacitor and inform of all recommendations, functions and their costs. Tech was granted permission by Joe to replace both cap, water panel and to have our office call to schedule the blower wheel cleaning. (See Invoice) Pretax of 59.95 $4.44 Capacitor $156.00 Water Panel $38.00 Energy Management Fee $5.00 ------------ Pretax $203.44 Sales tax $16.28 -------------------- Invoice Total $219.72 (charged to c/c) [removed member name] I’m not sure where you got your approximate cost of $280.00 charge. Enclosing; [removed member name] unfortunately you were not home with your husband during our visit in hopes to enlighten you on the workings of your furnace and the concerns noted above. We do regret you felt you had a bad experience with our company. We would like to discuss a resolution that you find satisfying and perhaps to clarify our invoice. I'm very pleased with the service provided. Michael found that my whole house humidifier was not working & found a note from the previous company that they found it not working & never told me. Michael explained the problem clearly & thoroughly with me & gave me a few options to research and the cost of the repair. I will call and make an appointment with BP Heating after the holidays to have the humidifier fixed!

I purchased a promotion with Rochester Perks for this service. I contacted BP and they were able to schedule me within 2 weeks of my call. The owner, Mike Williams performed the service call. He arrived right on time. He was very professional and was there about 45 mins-1 hour. He was vey well informed and went over the check list of what he did. He offered some suggestions on improvements however was not pushy at all. I was pleasantly surprised. I had contacted his company earlier that day to see exactly what work was going to be performed as I was reading some information in the internet of what should be done. I spoke with his secretary, Carlyon who was pleasant and well informed. She explained what would be done and answered any questions that I had. She had also communciated to me Mike (the owner) handles all the new clients the first visit which I thought was great. I would give BP an "A" and would reccomend them. I will be calling on them again. Thanks BP!
