They were very good. They delivered when they were supposed to. They came when they are supposed to. Everything was done and they were very neat. They cleaned up after themselves. They were really very good. Their price, I think, was maybe more than the other places we researched but we were impressed with them and we were willing to pay a little bit more. The unit was a little bit quieter and a little bit more efficient and I'm sure if we had researched the others, they would have been the same.
Description of Work: I used GallettAir Inc to put in a new air conditioning system.

I made an appointment with Gallet Air to give me an estimate for installing central air conditioning in my home. An appointment was set up several days in advance. I provided all of the basic information, and told the person on the phone that someone would be home to allow the inspector in. I was given a window of 12pm-5pm. After the address, a name, and contact info, no other information was provided. The day of service was a Monday. I work during the day, so my father, who is retired, waited in the house from 12-2pm. I relieved my dad at 2:30. By 4:30pm, no one from Gallett arrived at the house. I called at 4:30, and I was told that a crew called my number twice, and since no one picked up, the crew did not even approach the house. First, no one from Gallett, at any time, explained to me that I would need to answer my phone to allow a crew in the house. Had they told me that while I was setting up the appointment, I would have explained that: a) I am a teacher and therefore unable to answer my phone at any given time; b) I could provide the phone number of my father, who was waiting in the home to receive them. Yet, because of this lack of specific information, they wasted my father's afternoon as well as three hours of my own time. I understand their policy of needing to contact the homeowner before entering the house, but how about simply ringing the doorbell? Failing that, why not make this policy clear to each customer? They effectively wasted the days of two people, simply because they did not make their policy clear. As a coda to the story: When I called at 4:30 on that Monday, the person on the other end was understanding. When she told me that she could set up another estimate for Wednesday between 8am-1pm, I told her that I could not guarantee that anyone would be at the house during that time (I was certainly not going to ask my father to waste another day). Regardless, I was told by a worker doing construction on my house that a Gallett Air van pulled up to the house. When told that the homeowner was not home, they left. I refuse to make another appointment. They may provide good service, but they wasted a day of mine, as well as a member of my family because they did not make their policies and procedures clear. If a representative from Gallett Air reads this review, I would recommend having all of your secretaries explain this policy to all customers, or instruct your crews to ring a doorbell at the very least. Two simple instructions to avoid these sorts of problems.

Regarding this review. After searching our computer system and schedule data. We could not find a customer by name or that he was ever set up for an estimate from our company. We searched by name, address, phone number and town, with zero results. I am the owner, as well as the person who performs the estimates. I've been doing my job for over 37 years. I am also a service technician, so I am also well versed in customer service. When I arrive at a home for a scheduled call, I do ring the door bell or knock on the door. If there is not answer I have my the office call the homeowner while waiting on location. If we do not get an answer by telephone, I then leave a tag on the door with the time and date. This has happened to me at lease (6) times in the last two weeks by Angieslist members who made appointments for estimates but were not home upon my arrival. How does a company rate them? In this case, and in all fairness to our reputation, its important that this member contact my office as we do not have a phone number on file which is another indicator that we never spoke to this person. Finally, after extensive inter-office research, its clearly obvious that this member is mistaken, and in fact has the wrong company. Sometimes upon arrival at my estimates, there could be up to (3) different companies offering estimates for the same exact services. This may very well be the case here. We did nothing wrong.

I waited several weeks to post my review because I wanted to test the system to make sure the job was done as well as I thought it was when they did it. (I never had used them before--an electrician recommended them to me several years ago.) The verdict is in--the system has far exceeded my expectations. The installation was phenomenal! The installers treated my property as if it was their own. The company lives by the philosophy of "the customer is always right." The owner of the company personally did my estimate and was there the day of the installation. Before any work was begun he went through the job with the crew and me going over every detail. I could not be happier with the installation and the crew of true professionals that performed it. No one looked for short cuts. Several times I had the option on installation spots--they always recommended the best way that usually involved more work for them, with no added charges to me. As the work proceeded they vacuumed any debris up immediately, they covered my carpeting; and protected my property. The work crew operated like they were on a military mission. Each man had a specialty and it was all coordinated and completed in one day. There was no sending anyone for tools, parts, etc. They worked together as a team and took pride in their work. I am a "raving fan" and look forward to recommending them to everyone I know. Finally, someone can always to a job for less, but no one, NO ONE, could do it better than GallettAir. Paul Delle

They never even called to apologize. When I called them the following day, their response was that things like this happen when they are busy, and that next time I should make a morning appointment. There won't be a next time. Yikes! What awful customer service.
Description of Work: Showed up at 8:00 PM for appointment window of 1:00-5:00 (3 hrs late) and their response was "We're very busy". Had to take an afternoon off to be available. When they finally showed up, it was too late in the evening so we refused service.

We did call the customer at 3-pm to inform them that we were running behind schedule, and to inform the customer that we would still come to their home that evening, and they accepted the offer. When the service technician arrived about 8-pm, the customer answered the door and refused the service technician and sent him away. Unlike some other services, at times our technicians can run in to complex troubles that can take a bit longer to rectify. We do our best to keep the waiting customer informed, as we did in this case. We are human and can only work so fast, in order to insure our safety, as well as our customers' safety. We did show up at the customer's home as agreed, and as promised. To be fair, the customer could have called our 24- hour service as well, to cancel the appointment, instead of making the technician drive to the home, only to refuse him, and send him away. We did everything to keep this customer well informed.

We wanted to install central AC before summer time came. Paul from Gallett came out in early March for estimate. Price was on the higher side compared to other estimates. Work was completed 3 weeks later. Service team the day of install was tremendous. Very friendly, very neat and informed me of their process throughout the day. Had to wait for filter to be delivered 8 weeks later. Gallett service technician came out to install and check on unit but showed up 3 hours late. Technician wasn't nearly as friendly or personable as initial service team. Seemed to rush through work because it was end of the day. I understand it is a busy time of year for service so it wasn't that big of an inconvience. Phone opporators are very nice and easy to deal with. I would recommend Gallett to anyone looking to install central AC just be aware the volume of work Gallett does so you have to be patient with their timing. Worth it in long run.

The whole procedure went smoothly from beginning to end. We had no complaints at all and every question we asked was thoroughly answered. We would not hesitate to reccomend them for any type of service.The whole team that worked here were fantastic ,including Mike the salesman.

I am planning a pretty big job, replacing two complete Heat/AC systems. Paul came by to look at the job and provide me with various estimates for different levels of equipment. He was at my house on a Friday in April and said he would get back to me by the following Wednesday. Three and a half weeks later, after numerous phone calls, I am still unable to obtain a response or estimate. I am going with another company that is much more responsive. Too bad GalletteAir put themselves out of the running. Not a good way to make new customers.

I found this company on Angie's List and called them for an estimate. I got the estimate and had all my questions answered regarding my options. I decided to have the work completed. The work was excellent. The workers are all very professional. I had a large job which took a total of two days. After the first day, the workers cleaned up and asked me if I was satisfied to that point. The job was completed the second day and they again asked if I was satisfied and if there was anything else they could do. The person that completed the estimate came back on the second day when all work was completed to make sure I was satisfied and to inspect the job. They are scheduled to come back again as it gets warmer to make sure everything is working properly. These guys have been very reliable and very easy to deal with.

Gallet air arrived promptly at 8 AM. Workmen quickly removed outdoor AC units while a secondary crew began replacing and installing 2 gas furnaces. Crews were extremely professional and highly qualified. New thermostats with controllers were professionally installed. The entire operation was removed, replaced and working that day! Great job!

During the hottest week of the year, the company made a service call the day after I called them. The service technician showed up at the scheduled time and took his time performing a complete check of the entire system to verify the problem. Without any sales pressure whatsoever, he offered me two options (repair or replacement) and quoted me a price in writing. I opted for replacement with a more efficient unit and a longer warranty. I was told that it would take about 3-5 days for the company to receive the new unit and that they would have it installed within a week. Good to their word, 7 days later they arrived at my home, on time, and two technicians, including the owner, spent 1/2 a day (4 hours) installing and testing the new unit. They answered all my questions and were totally professional. I had complained that the performance of the air-conditioning system, which was original to the home when it was built about 11 years prior, never worked well. As a courtesy, Carmine (the company owner) walked through my home and adjusted the dampers in the air ducts and then serviced (cleaned) the air-handler (coils and blower) at no additional charge. (This offset the cost of the initial service call.) Please be aware that Gallett Air is not "cheap" (inexpensive), but remember that you usually get what you pay for. You might be able to find a competent service company that charges a bit less, but some of the companies I initially contacted would have charged me more for the same work. Often, well-known "reputable" service companies send inexperienced technicians to do the work, so I was pleasantly surprised when the company owner, with 30 years experience, did the work himself. It is not necessary for me to repeat all the positive things about this company that many other reviewers have already said. Suffice it to say that if all companies were as professional as Gallett Air, there would be no need for Angie's List!
Description of Work: Inspected central air-conditioning unit and determined that the compressor needed replacement. Ordered new unit and installed it one week later.

After I found some amazing reviews on GallettAir in Angieslist, i decided to get an estimate from them last october. Mr Galletta personally came and spent about an hour understanding our existing hvac layout and described couple of best options for me including an option switch one of the 2 zones from gas to heatpump. After discussions I signed the contract then and there. When the d-day came an army of professionals came to the house, there were about 6-7 vehicles making the street look like a party zone. In 1 day they were able to completely remove and replace the HVAC system. Installed energy efficient A/C and Furnace. Also switched my zone 2 from Gas heating and A/C to an energy efficient heatpump. They also replaced the existing duct work on zone 2 and moved the heatpump airhandler in to the attic saving me some space which i turned in to a closet. They also installed a high end thermostat on both the zones. They also cleaned my existing dryer vent and installed customer purchased vents. They added another vent to the house. Special thanks to an associate who went inside the crawl space to install the vent and also covered the exposed dirt floor in the crawlspace with a special sheet. Overall the whole job was done with in a day, they took good care of the floor. They great thing about them is that they treat you like a VIP and treat the house as if it were their house. I am very happy with the overall result which resulted in some significant cost saving month over month on gas and electricity. I highly recommend them for complex jobs as mine was a little complex. Whatever was in the contract was executed to perfection. I have a 5 year contract on maintaining the HVAC systems which gives me piece of mind. When ever I tried to reach the service team for questions or issues, I get immediate response. Even during tough times like Sandy, the team honored all customer calls to the best possible way. In my case there were a few pending items even after the installation but they were very prompt in the follow-ups. Special thanks to Mr. Galletta, Mike Fuller and his amazing team. I wish them good luck. Thank you and I am sure many more will benefit from your services.

Carmine was great. It took a couple of weeks for me to get an appointment because of hurricane Sandy but once he came everything was very fast. Very professional, came in with lots of information for me, he also was very willing to talk to my husband on the phone and answered all his questions. He had everything in stock and was able to do the installation very quickly. The other company we got an estimate from was more expensive and couldn't install for literally two months!!! The installation went very smoothly. The old furnace was dismantled, the new brought in, all in one day. And our basement is a tight squeeze I can't believe the furnace fit down there. Everything was cleaned up very neatly and we didn't have to do a thing except pay and enjoy our new furnace. I highly recommend them and would not go with anyone else if I had to deal with this again. Thanks carmine!!!

Carmine was professional in dealing with our frustrations with the whole sandy storm. We feel his estimates were very fair and he tried hard to give us alternatives because he realized that we were financially strapped.
Description of Work: I gave this company a review back on February where I complained that I had no response from this company. I initially gave this company a very poor rating because I got no response from them in reference to a written estimate. Finally Carmine the owner did contact me and stated that the estimates were sent out but we never received them. They sent us another copy of the estimates by mail again and we did finally receive the estimates. Since I don't know how to remove what I initially wrote from this site, I would like to do justice to GallettAir and COMPLETELY RECIND what I wrote. Carmine not only sent us the estimates, he actually helped us by contacting FEMA to give them the information necessary to help us get some money back to help pay for our loses. I truly appreciate his efforts in helping us and would not hesitate to use his company to do the work for our house. We are still waiting for funds from FEMA so we can get the work done. And when we are ready financially, we will call GallettAir .

As a new homeowner is it tough to decide which HVAC contractor to go with as every vendor has their own brands and advice about how a systems should be configured. I found that from the first meeting with Paul who provided our estimate that we were in good hands. Paul provided us options about how we should install the systems and took the time to find out what we really needed so that we would not add features that were unnecessary. For example we thought we would do an entire HVAC system and remove our existing steam radiators. After talking with Paul and him asking some very good questions about our needs and preferences we actually decided to keep our existing heating system. In the end although they were not the cheapest quote we received I felt that their knowledge, customer service and reputation far out weighed the marginal cost differences of other HVAC companies. Prior to the installation I met Carmine (the owner) and Tommy who were just as great as Paul. They came in and measured for duct work and put together a plan that best worked for the house. Carmine again made sure provide all the information about the system he was installing, how it would be installed, and how changes could be made in the house to make the system even more efficient. On the day of installation the entire "A-Team" of installers came and Carmine, Tommy, John, Mike...and the rest of the team were simply awesome (friendly, knowledgeable , trustworthy and actually pretty entertaining). A great group of guys that not only worked tirelessly in two days to install a 2 zone system but were in constant communication with us to inform us of any issues changes, and modification that they needed to make. Nothing was done with out our ok and the entire project turned out great. (The only issue we had it took 2-3 weeks to get an estimate from Paul. However, this was also after Hurricane Sandy so I trust they were quite busy.) I am now even looking for them to upgrade a part of our existing heating system as we have a very unique configuration that could be more efficient and save us time and money in the long run. I will certainly trust that they will do the same outstanding work at reasonable prices with that job as well.

I came home late Sat.PM to no heat in my home. I called Gallett and within 1 1/2 hr. a serviceman was at my door. He informed me that I needed a new system and fixed the problem temporarily. The following Monday a new heat & air cond. system was installed. The work was done in a timelyl-fashion and the workmen were professional. 4 days later a rep from Gallet came to check the over-all work & answer any questions etc. The price I was quoted & paid was in the "ball-park" . All-in-all I am pleased with the service & the work and would not hesitate to recommend them!

GallettAir Inc. were great. As a matter of fact, we needed them to come back to do some more work upstairs and they did it for nothing. They also came another time for something little and it also was free. They were so clean, there wasn't a dust particle left when they finished. They did everything in one day. They were here and gone. I had some special requests how to do it and it was not the way they wanted to do it, but they ended up doing it the way I wanted to do it. Everything he said he was going to do, he did. He was terrific. They're a pretty big company. I see their trucks all the time. They've got a lot of work. But they took the time to do a good job. What he recommended for the A/C unit was great and he had the best warranty on it. We had gotten the unit in the winter and the warranty did not even start until Spring, because we would not be actually using the unit until the Spring. That was really cool. I didn't even ask for it, he just did it. He stands behind his product. They come out and prepped the unit at the beginning of each season for no charge.

Since the appointment for the estimate, we haven't heard from them since. I called once to see about the estimate and still, no response. I noticed that there were other reviews with the same issues. I don't know, I feel I should not have to chase down someone to give me an estimate for a job, you would think they want the customers no matter how small or big the job is. Professionally, we should have had a response from them. We needed that estimate for FEMA so that we could get it done and be reimbursed and we have a 60 day time line, now we have to star all over! Maybe the job was too small for them to take the time to respond?? But then they should have told us on the spot that the job was too small for them. Anyhow, even if they did call now, I would not use them because this tells me I would have a hard time getting them back if something were to go wrong in the future. I most certainly would not recommend them. The technicians may be great with the installations as in other reviews but if follow up is poor you usually have to spend more money to find someone to correct their mistakes. Extremely upset and disappointed. Update 02/12/13: The review I gave on February 11th was based on frustration. I hope that I get the estimate via email and if I use this company, I will completely retract my rating and give it a fair rating. It is not my intent to hurt any businesses by giving them a poor rating. I do understand totally that I am not the only one in this situation where we have to rebuild due to the disaster and therefore companies like GellettAir must be swamped with work. So out of fairness, I will wait for the estimate and compare it with other estimates that I have begun to look for. If I decide not to use this company based on other estimates I receive, (because money is an issue for us now) then PLEASE ignore the "F" rating I gave because it is not fair to rate a company if they did not do the work; especially since this company has a long history of "A" ratings with Angie's List. This is one of the reasons why I chose this company in the first place. I gave an overall "B" rating for now because I did call the company twice after the estimate and no one responded until now. Update 03/21/13: Carmine was professional in dealing with our frustrations with the whole sandy storm. We feel his estimates were very fair and he tried hard to give us alternatives because he realized that we were financially strapped.
Description of Work: We had made an appointment for them to come and give an estimate for some air duct work due to the Sandy storm damage on Jan 15th. , the technician who came did come on time Update 02/12/13: I gave an "F" rating on February 11th because I had an estimate on January 15th and never heard back from this company. The owner Carmine did call me today and said that he mailed me the estimate. I never got this estimate in the mail, therefore out of complete frustration, I gave the poor rating. He apologized and said he would email me the estimate so I will wait for that estimate. Update 03/21/13: I gave this company a review back on February where I complained that I had no response from this company. I initially gave this company a very poor rating because I got no response from them in reference to a written estimate. Finally Carmine the owner did contact me and stated that the estimates were sent out but we never received them. They sent us another copy of the estimates by mail again and we did finally receive the estimates. Since I don't know how to remove what I initially wrote from this site, I would like to do justice to GallettAir and COMPLETELY RECIND what I wrote. Carmine not only sent us the estimates, he actually helped us by contacting FEMA to give them the information necessary to help us get some money back to help pay for our loses. I truly appreciate his efforts in helping us and would not hesitate to use his company to do the work for our house. We are still waiting for funds from FEMA so we can get the work done. And when we are ready financially, we will call GallettAir .

2/12/ 2013 We contacted the member and informed her that hard copies of the proposal were in fact mailed to her home address within a week of our visit. She stated that she never received it. Today, we scanned and emailed the proposal to the member. Its understandable that people who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy are upset and and may become frustrated at the process of rebuild. It's important for people realize that many companies (like us) have been out in the field every day since October. We are working hard helping to restore heat and hot water as well as going to many homes to access the damage take photos, and then taking the time to write (Free) detailed estimates for the homeowners to submit to their insurance companies (with no guarantee of booking the job). We have spent thousands of hours in the field and at our office processing hundreds of proposals as well as taking calls from many insurance companies as well as FEMA. This is extremely time consuming and costly when your operating a legitimate business. Our opinion: For us to be rated an (F) for a professional / expert (Complimentary Service) is unfair and unjust. For the past 30- years we have based our reputation on honesty and integrity. To this end, we will continue to to do our best to help our fellow Long Islander's through these difficult months.

Our central air system was detroyed by Superstorm Sandy. The system we had in our cape only cooled the first floor. In the summer the second floor window a/c's barely made it livable upstairs. Knowing we had to replace everything we tried to get estimates for a sytem that would service the whole house. It is extremely difficult to achieve this in a cape and out of the estimates we got, Galletair was the only company that came up with a plan to do what we wanted. They really listened to us and didn't try to sell us someting we didn't want, which other companies did. To make their job even harder, our cape is pretty large, with several rooms added on. They got the job done... on schedule and on budget. The team of workers , especially the foreman, John, was extremely courteous and friendly. I had no worries leaving them on their own to work in the house while I ran some errands. Having young children in the house, I appreciated that not once did I hear any bad language, which I have experienced with workers in our home in the past. . They cleaned up very quickly and thoroughly. When they turned on the system to show me that it runs you could barely hear it, which is important because it is placed on the same floor where we sleep. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can enjoy our comfortably cool home this summer! I would have no reservations recommending this company... from start to finish we had a great experience!

I'm writing this review on behalf of my Mom. I live in Los Angeles and she lives in Long Island. My mom calls me "Google" since I look everything up for her. I received a text from my mom asking me to look up gas boiler brand recommendations. The heat was broken in the house and she had a called a chain repair service and they said the gas boiler needed to be replaced. After a little bit of research it became apparent that the brand was not as important as the actual installers. I sent a few companies to my mom that were highly rated on this site and Galletair was able to send someone immediately to look at the gas boiler. Galletair was able to send out a repairman to the house within the hour and had the gas boiler fixed within minutes! My mom was ecstatic they were able to repair it as she was told by another chain repair company she had called earlier that the unit would need to be replaced since they could not find parts because the gas boiler was too old, then this chain repair company quoted some exorbitant price for the replacement unit + install. Galletair is very prompt, professional and courteous. Both the dispatcher and repairman were very friendly and helpful. She looks forward to using them again for their services, they are worth every penny!

We had a new Carrier hvac system installed in our condo in April 2012 by Gallett Air. But as with all things sometimes there can be a problem and you need the company to back it up-and Gallettair did. If you read my comments of May 19, 2012 you can see that I was extremely pleased with the decision to go with Gallett (also signed a service contract). They did an outstanding job in the installation and even fixed a damper I broke for no charge. As a post script to my comments I just want to add that after 10 months the system is working excellently. Yesterday, one of the duct tubes came detached from the inside air handler. I called the company and within 3 hours Matt, one of their service technicians, came to our condo. He reattached and reinforced the tubing and then proceeded to check out all the other connections and made adjustments and worked where he felt it was needed. He also covered exposed insulation around one of the ducts attached to the air handler that had been left years ago. I never asked for all of that but he did it anyway. This is who they are. Service quality and customer focus just seems to come naturally to all their employees. Obviously, this kind of customer dedication must come from the top. I would suggest that anyone who needs an HVAC company go with Gallettair. I seldom write complementary letters but in this case I felt they deserved it. Description of Work: One of the duct tubes in a difficult location at the back of the air handler became detached. Not only did the service technician fix the problem by reinforcing the duct in question-he spent over 45 minutes checking all other connections. He also covered some exposed insulation from years before.
