Assessed our situation which was a back-up of black smoke into the house when we used the fireplace insert (which was supposed to have been cleaned by the person we purchased it from 2nd hand); we had only used it about 4 times since putting the insert in because of this problem. Lou, from Chimney Solutions, checked everything out and then suggested that we check out our catalytic converter before expending the cost of relining the chimney; he discussed the problems that he had identified within the chimney, firebox and masonry around the top of the chimney and the lack of adequate protection from the weather. The following week we received a very reasonable estimate from him for the elements of the job that might be needed. We found the area around the catalytic converter was incredibly dirty...otherwise it was in good working order and seems to have been the cause of our problem. We plan to have the masonry work done by Chimney Solutions in the spring. Our furnace mantainance people took care of the debris in the firebox area (?) connected to the furnace. We feel we are good to go now with our immediate problem solved. The price was certainly incredible for the benefit we reaped. We were so impressed with the knowledge demonstrated by Lou and the ethical way he conducted his recommendations. He could have easily snowed us into believing we needed the relining, as well as the masonry repair, but instead he seemed more interested in doing the right thing than money.

They showed up on time, did an excellent job, cleaned up after themselves. Over all an excellent experience.

They were quick and efficient and knew what they were doing and explained it so we could understand what repairs needed to be done.

I had gotten a quote from them the prior year (right before the flood). Of course, nobody was available to do home repair due to the overwhelming need of those who had been flooded out after that. When they came back this year to do the job they matched the prior year's price with no increases. Thanks for a good job!!

arrived on time for estimate, inspected chimney, quotation given,appointment date/time made. Arrived exactly on time, work completed, and no debry left, left work area(lawn/brushes) perfectly clean!!

The company recommended the flue liner when they swept my chimney a year ago and noticed the flue was oversized for the wood stove and also damaged. Their recommendation was confirmed by another company so I was confident it was accurate. When he scoped out the job for the estimate, the owner was clearly very knowledgeable about what was needed, had one of his workers inspect the top of the chimney and the flue, measured carefully, provided a rationale for his recommendations, and returned a detailed proposal within two days. I also got an estimate for the same work from another company but when it came time to make a decision, I had a much higher comfort level with the Chimney Solutions proposal. Plus, the other estimate was a little higher and was not as detailed. The job had to be rescheduled twice due to the weather but Chimney Solutions was very good about keeping in touch with me about the changes in plans. When they arrived to do the repairs, the crew was very polite, respectful, and proficient. They came back several days later to install the liner and again, the work went quickly and efficiently. The chimney now draws well and the stove burns very well. Overall I am very pleased with the results and will certainly use Chimney Solutions in the future.

All services where performed satisfactorily. Everything was done timely and the staff was courteous.

The chimney sweeps (2) came a few hours early, but only after calling and confirming it was ok. It was actually a better time for us so it worked out great. The area around the fireplace was covered and they proceeded to clean the chimney. They also looked at an unused chimney in the house and made suggestions/helpful comments about it. After the drop clothes were removed, you would never have known they were there except for a smokey smell in the air. I thought there would be dust about, but it was clean. It is a bit expensive, but they were professional and worth the peace of mind.

lThey where responsive in giving the estimate, and they came as scheduled. They did an excellent job, cleaned up thoroughly. They where also friendly and informative. They made some suggestions to improve the job at a very small added cost.

I just thought that they were really great. I left a message and I think the owner called back. He listened. He told me potential problems with what I was saying should be done. He said it in a really nice way. He explained why it could potentially be a problem and it made a whole lot of sense. He came out a day later. He came out exactly when he said he would come out. They did the repair work exactly when they said they would do the repair work. They cleaned up afterwards. We didn't compare the price but it just seemed very reasonable. We felt so comfortable with them that we just decided not to look any further. I think the quality was wonderful. Their responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were excellent.

I called Lou in May because the chimney in a home that I had just purchased was dangerously in need of repair . He arrived on time for the inspection and gave me an estimate for that repair and the repair of another chimney in the house. I decided to go ahead with the repair of the stone chimney and we set a date for the repair. The work was done on time and very professionally. The chimney looks beautiful and like it was never damaged. He also worked with me on the payment for the chimney. I will definitely be using him again for the repair of the other chimney.

I'm very pleased with the quality of the repair. This is the second time I've used Chimney Solutions They came on the date and time promised. They even used my digital camera to show the before and after repairs. They were very professional and pleasant to deal with. I definitely would recommend them for chimney work

I was pleased to find out that our chimney was already lined. A previous inspector told me it needed a new liner, which would have cost thousands. That other chimney guy doesn't return calls though, so I was very pleased with Chimney Solutions. They came when they said they would, did a great job, and the price was reasonable.

They did a very good job and we were very pleased with what they did. They cleaned up well and the chimney looks great. We are well satisfied. They put scaffolding up to make sure there were no injuries because they were on the roof. We thought they did a really good job with the safety issue. We priced other people and he was comparable to others.

Lou came over and inspected the situation, then quickly sent us an estimate. He was able to get the work done within a week and a half, working on a Sunday to finish off the work (we needed it done before tenets moved in.) The brickwork was done quickly, and the crew was very good about cleanup and explaining what they were doiung. They hit a snag when the liner would not go up the chimney, hitting a brick at one point. They were able to find the spot, knock a hole in the chimney and conyinue the repair with little trouble (luckily that part of the chimney was located, exposed, in a closet).

They were very knowledgabe in discussing alternative liners and why a single liner could cause problems because of the particular set-up of our furnace and water heater. They were on time for preliminary appointments and to do the job and were neat and pleasant to work with. They installed the liners, dealing with a couple of problems - which did not suprise them - because of the age of the house (over 100 years), cleaned up, and left.

Lou knew upon arrival and seeing the chimney what it needed, how much it would cost, and when it could be done. And it was taken care of almost as quickly and at that exact price. He knows his stuff and his suppliers. He didn't try to sell me anything else. I feel confident that the cap will last, but only time will tell, so I can't rate the "value" as "excellent."

1. I bought all supplies (chimney and connection through wall). Lou brought in a coworker. They cut the hole in the wall and installed the wood stove and chimney. The work was inspected by the city and a certificate was given by town of Vestal. 2. Chimney repair. The chimney was cracked and the cap was broken. The cap was replaced. The ceramic insert was replaced. The outside was repaired. Overall quality is excellent.
