Chimney Solutions

The owner booked an appointment with me two days before by phone. On the day of my appointment nobody shows up at all. No call or anything. I left work early for the appointment. So I called the owner back and no answer several times. I even called the actual business itself and the lady told me she would pass it along and have somebody call me ASAP. That never happened either. I gave up after three hours of waiting. 4 hours later I finally get a callback from the owner with a bunch of excuses as to why he didn’t make it. Extremely unprofessional, I will be going elsewhere.

Well, I am buying a house and it will not close until the end of October. In the meantime, I have been calling a few different Home repair and construction people to get ballpark estimates on different work items that needs to be done and to line up jobs so that I can hit the ground running before the snow potentially hits in November. In the process, I have called quite a few 'reputable' organizations many of whom are 'A' listers on Angie's list. None of them returned my calls except for Lou of Chimney Solutions. I did not talk to him directly, but he left a very nice message explaining how he was down one worker due to an injury on the job. Now he was booked out two months and could not take on anymore work until he had satisfied all the customers he has already promised. It was obvious he was busy but he still took the time to make the call to me. What a gentleman! Thank you Lou. I'm sorry you couldn't do the work on my chimney but I am most appreciative of your courtesy to me. If I ever need more work done on my chimney, I will be calling you. Good luck with the remainder of your season and Thank you.

From the estimating and planning through the take-down of the old chimney and rebuild of the new one, the project was nicely done. I felt I was in the loop on the choice of materials and planning for the rebuild. The crew worked around gardens and landscaping that would have been damaged if they had not taken extra care. They also took care to protect sky lights and a recently painted outdoor deck from any falling construction debris. They were punctual, kept the work area clean and well organized at the end of a work day.

Prompt estimate and agreed to repair appointment, They showed up on time did the work showed me pictures of before and after. Pleasure to have them as service provider. Would recommend or have them do other future work as needed.

We had a water leak due to crumbling mortar, no cap, and bad flashing. We also have a gas boiler, and the existing clay liner could not handle the moisture produced by the gas. To fix all these issues, I had originally planned to have multiple companies do the work (all of them wanted to charge us about 4 times as much as Chimney Solutions and take at least 4 months to do the work). In the end, I felt Chimney Solutions was the best equipped for the job, and they offered the most competitive and complete bid, so we went with them. We scheduled the work about 3 weeks out from the initial estimate, and 4 workers completed the job in 2 days. Overall, we are happy with the service, the work, and the value, and would choose Chimney Solutions again.

They were right on time, did a good job cleaning the chimney, made no mess, and pointed out issues with the concrete cap at the top of the chimney, outside. I'm having them come back in the spring to fix that issue.

Lou and the others from Chimney Solutions came to reconstruct the top part of the chimney, install a new cap, and install a chimney liner. I couldn't be there while they were working, but my wife was, and she was happy with their professionalism and work while they were doing it. She picked out the new brick color and the chimney looks great. We've used them twice now and have been happy both times with the work.

They were very high-priced. For what I wanted, it was $2800. I then got it done the next week for $300. The top block on my chimney must have come loose, it had shifted around in a windstorm, it was just sort of hanging up there. I had it resurfaced all the way down and then I had it painted. It was all done within a couple of days and it was $300. I just couldn't believe it was that much. They could look around the area and see what everybody else is quoting. The guy was sort of arrogant, but that was not part of the quote, so I just sort of ignored that. He acted like he really didn't care if he got it or not, he wasn't that personable either. So, I just said, "Okay, fine, I'll call you," and let him go because I just had had enough of him. The price was just too much. They did come back after I called them. They came up and gave me a quote.

It went very, very well. The two gentlemen from Chimney Solutions, Jeff and Dennis, arrived on time, introduced themselves and went straight to work. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous and careful. They worked at a pace, no lollygagging. Net: The Chimney Solutionsdid an outstanding job

The initial inspection and estimate was quick, clearly explained, and on time! The workers showed up on time, as well, worked quickly and quietly, and went out of their way to be sure that we were satisfied and that all of our questions and concerns were addressed. They were all that we could have wanted: clean, prompt, professional and reasonably priced. We will definitely recommend Chimney Solutions to our friends and neighbors!

We called because of a leak that others were unable to fix. Chimney Solutions examined the area and proposed a solution that worked. They came quickly, worked efficiently and neatly, and cleaned up what little mess they made. We were very happy with their work.

I have dealt with them before. They have been doing it for years for us. They come and do it within an hour or so.

All my calls were promptly returned. Any appointment made for estimate or service were kept and on time. The concrete slab was glued and screwed into the brick. A piece of metal was welded to the flue top. They even glued my ash retrieval door back on when I mentioned it was loose. All my questions were appropriately answered in detail. I found the price very fair. Nice people, Professional and efficient.

First, they just showed up. I had called to make an appointment to get an estimate, was told someone would follow up, and then they just showed up one day without warning. The two gentleman proceeded to rush around, climbing up on the roof, and didn't answer my questions. After asking three times, I finally got an answer that it was safe to use the fireplace in my new home. They went ahead and installed the rain water cap that I wanted done (the only plus to their visit) but at the very end said they don't do stone work (the primary reason I had called them in the first place). Finally, I was handed a bill while they stood their waiting for me. To clarify, when I called I clearly asked for someone to give me an estimate. Had I know they didn't do stone work (their office said they did), I would never have used them. Further they charged $85 for the "chimney inspection", I was with them at all times and I never saw them inspect the chimney. Overall I felt very poorly treated and would not recommend Chimney Solutions.

Owner Lou showed up for estimate when he said he would. Explained work to be done and provided me with written contract to sign and mail back. Lou phoned me after receiving signed contract and gave me aprox. date he could do work. Called me a few days ahead of date he said they would do work. Three man crew showed up, introduced themselves and began work (Even providing dog biscuits for my two dogs). Work was completed in one day and appears to have been done in an excellent manner. Would definately use/recommend Chimney Solutions.

I have a Russian fireplace with a unique internal design. A couple years ago, one of the internal chambers collapsed and the person who built it 25 years ago is no longer around. After a lengthy search for someone to even come out and look at it, I found Chimney Solutions rated here on Angie's List. Lou came out and looked over the situation and told me he had a guy on the crew that could do the job. He gave me an estimate on the spot and we agreed on a price. On the scheduled day, Chimney Solutions showed up on time and carefully covered the carpeting around the fireplace. After removing a couple of bricks so they could see inside, they realized that the damage was worse than anyone anticipated. Jeff scratched his head..... thought about it for a few minutes, then expertly removed enough additional bricks so he could reach in far enough to remove all of the collapsed firebricks. He then completely cleaned the inside and re-stacked the fire bricks. After getting the inside back together, he patched up the outer bricks and was completely done in 4 hours. These guys know what they are doing, they are polite, punctual and they get it done right.

Showed up right on schedule, cleaned the chimney, picked up and left. Couldn't ask for more.

Called to see if early arrival as OK. (it was.) Completed all work in a reasonable time. Price was fair.

They did a great job. The even took a picture to show me the work they did. I definitely would recommend them to anyone requiring chimney work.

Job coordinator was quirky, but true to his word. Prompt estimate in the late Fall - recommended we wait until Spring to do work (as it was already cold). Called prior to job - set date for work to be done. Everything done according to plan - crew was friendly and professional. Checked with homeowner about matching of brickwork to existing bricks. Work was carried out efficiently and neatly.

I needed a new chimney liner and the chimney rebuilt, reflashed and caped. It is a very high and the liner had to be custom made. Mark gave me a quote about a year ago to do the work but I did not have the money. I called him up when I got the money and he still honored the old quote. The work looks great. I also asked for a gas insert to be install after they started the work. It was no problem. I felt like I was an important customer. I got a good price and it looks great.

It went just fine. People were good-humored and cheerful, in spite of the fact that the space between the chimney and the neighbors fence meant their work had to be done in tight quarters.
