 + -1 moreJim is very passionate about doing a good job. He is probably more harsh on himself than his customers, but that is why we chose him. He was there when he said he would be and listened to us when we had potential concerns or changes. In then end we have a beautiful patio.

 + -1 moreI hired Jim to build a retaining wall and small concrete pad. Jim said he didn't know what we needed or how big the wall would be until after he started excavating. I trusted him to know what needed to be done, but should not have. My mistake: I did not get a detailed contract. Jim would describe what he was going to do, then do something different. When I questioned him, he was rude and defensive and claimed I was changing things. The costs escalated. The final product has odd irregularities, big dips, and strange shapes stamped in the concrete as if tools were left on the concrete. I am not pleased. Jim left my yard a disaster, with huge hunks of concrete left behind that became my problem to dispose of. I would NOT recommend this company.

Description of Work: I saw on angies list this business had very good ratings. They came promptly to look at the job.(replacing a concrete pad and diving board for an inground pool. I was asked when I opened the pool and told him Memorial day. While here also looked at digging under my deck and putting in 4 foot footings to one area.I was contacted once to send a picture of my diving board.After that I called and e-mailed at least 3 times. I did reach someone by telephone once in middle of May and was told they were waiting on a price for the diving board and would send me an e-mail with cost of the job. . I did mention my priority was the diving board as my daughter and grandchildren like to use it all the time and they could do the footer at a later time. That's the last I heard from them. So my diving board is not useable and if they didn't want to do the job I wish they had told me instead of letting me hang here for 2 months. My adult daughter has been in special olympics and swimming and jumping off the diving board are what she lives for in the short summer season. So very dis-appointed. |If they show up and do the work I will re-visit this summary. At the time of initial visit Jim was very enthusiastic about the job and said swimming pools was where he stated so ,I'm thinking he booked a lot of work and couldn't get to me but I could have called someone else if he had told me.

Description of Work: Came promptly for an estimate, we liked his estimate and ideas. We still had some questions and after a couple of calls/messages and text messages we got no answers. If that is an indication of how the work is performed then we decided to use someone else. We understand this is the busy season but a simple call back to answer some questions in the evening is what will keep you busy.

On Wednesday afternoon they removed my old sidewalk, Thursday they installed the forms, Friday poured the concrete and by Saturday we could walk on it. Pretty impressive considering the sidewalk was over 80 linear feet (plus putting in new stairs). On Sunday someone came by and picked the remaining materials and we were done ! I'd definitely use Jim again for any future work.

Description of Work: They tore out a new driveway that was put in wrong and messed up with flaking concrete and uneven and unstraight stress lines. After only two months down it was a night mare and needed to be torn out ,so they are redoing it again and doing it correctly this time and so far it is looking good ,but it's not done yet,so we shall see when it's all done .

Took less than a week to have old walkway removed, land excavated, stone and wire laid, concrete poured, stamping, antiquing and sealing done. We would absolutely hire them for any other concrete job we have in the future. You can not go wrong with Jim and Collar City Concrete!! The new patio is absolutely beautiful!! The stamped concrete and antique coloring looks great! Thank you so much Jim!

 + 3 moreIt went well. I am very happy with the finished product. Jim was constantly in contact with me informing me when he would be at my house doing work. When ever I had a problem or question about the work, Jim was easy to approach and did what he could to solve the problem. The work took about 2 weeks but only because Jim had to wait for a nice day to pour the concrete. Jim and his crew are hard workers, his 2 man crew were actually at my house on Mother's Day (Sunday) for 8 hrs building the wall and fire pit. I am thinking about extending the retaining will and will definitely give collar city concrete first dibs at it.
Description of Work: Jim and his 2 man crew framed, poured and stamped a large (750 square ft) concrete patio. They also built a 15 ft wide x 2 1/2 ft high retaining wall with pillars on the end and a 3 ft firepit in the middle of the patio.
