Totally exceeded our expectations. The entire crew were professional, prompt, and hard working. We decided to go with a stamped concrete patio rather than a new wooden deck. We’re thrilled with that decision and the finished product. Absolutely beautiful. I have recommended to my friends and relatives.

Totally satisfied - start to finish. Jennifer responded quickly to my request for an estimate, patient in explaining what needed to be done and gave me great advice on selecting color, design, etc. Jim and the crew were amazing. They worked hard and fast, paid attention to detail, cleaned up after themselves and completed the project on time. I would recommend this company unhesitatingly.

We had a big outdoor pool deck and patio done by this company last August. Early February we noticed huge crack all the way on the length and breath of the pool. Sent them pictures and ask them to come take a look. After more than 10 follow-ups over 2 months they showed up for 10 minutes, did not even have the courtesy to ring the bell and talk to my wife who was home. Jim doesn't want to take any responsibility for the structural stress crack. He started yelling and cussing at me, when I was trying to see what long term fix can be done.

We are very satisfied with the quality of the work done by Collar City Concrete. We had very specific requests for concrete color, pattern, and shapes of the patios and walkway. The contractor went above and beyond to fulfill our requests. They even placed a decorative stamped concrete medallion pattern, which we requested, in the middle of our new walkway. They worked tirelessly for 5 days straight to do the job. We give them our highest recommendation!
Description of Work: We needed an old patio and walkway removed, a larger new patio and walkway installed, and a new patio installed in front of our shed.

They called back the same day, sent someone out to assess the job, gave ma a price the next day, (and this is the most important part) they showed up and did the job. They did a very nice job and it was completed and cleaned up the next day. I will hire them again.

Excellent! From the beginning I was very impressed. Jenifer arrived on time , was very knowledgeable and answered all my many questions. Jim and the team were very professional and worked well together. They got caught in one of our unexpected summer rain showers and quickly adapted to the upsetting situation. The stamped patio came out great. I would definitely recommend Collar City Concrete to anyone having concrete work done.

From start to finish the project went very smoothly. They were very conscientious, reliable, thorough and detailed. They covered my vinyl fence with a tarp to make sure no concrete got on it and when they were done raked both my yard and my neighbors yard which they had to come across to access mine. I could not be more pleased with the result. I think part of choosing a contractor is also the rapport and Jim, his crew, and his wife Jennifer were awesome to work with. Thanks COLLAR CITY CONCRETE!

Jim and his crew are hard working and very good at what they do. They were also super fast to respond to a relatively large request, and literally offered to start the day after we signed a contract. They offered a bunch of ideas on what we should do with the space including a sweet built in grill. They ripped out our old junk stairs, and a cracked walk away in the front of the house. They were very careful transporting material from the front to the back of the house. As an aside, we had obtained 6 quotes for this project, and these folks came in as second cheapest. We decided to go with them because they had a more down to earth mentality, and Jim really seemed to know what he was talking about when it came to concrete. Definitely not disappointed.

Jim and his staff did a terrific job and the house never looked so good. The reasonable price was not the only reason we chose CCC. . I was told by Jim that I needed to install gutters before he would do the project because they would prevent water damage to the steps and driveway. A small detail - not so much!!!!

The initial estimate was provided soon after we outlined the work needed. CCC stuck with us over two years and four estimates as we revised project specifications. Their work was excellent, but CCC's President's conduct towards our Administrator was unacceptable. CCC’s estimate said they required 50% payment by the time the job was formed, and they required the balance upon completion. But our treasurer only signs checks once a week. Thus, we need to get checks signed in advance to pay on a certain date. CCC did not follow our instructions for setting work and payment dates. The president (Jim) and his crew showed up and started working on the date he only scheduled a meeting with the administrator. That meeting was needed for our Administrator and CCC to set schedules for payment and work. While Jim’s crew worked, he met our Administrator, she asked for the documents she needed and she tried to set up a payment and work schedule. She said “he got incredibly huffy and said this wasn't his thing -it's his wife's and she's at work.” The second day they worked, CCC finished the forms for the job. Jim went to our administrator and said he needed a check for 50%, because the job was formed. This was not possible, because the treasurer had not already signed a check. They had not done the planning needed to get the check signed in advance. She told him that, and he started yelling and cursing at her. Note that she previously told him they needed to set a payment schedule and why. Then I contacted him by telephone, got him to understand the situation, confirmed that the day he wanted to pour the concrete was O.K., and told him when he would receive the check for 100%. CCC did quality work and cleaned up afterwards. Reviewer: J. Edward Kautz
Description of Work: Pour a 4 ½” by 7 ½’ by 156’ concrete slab over a concrete apron behind a large building. Pour ramps to the apron surface on both ends. This required removing some of the concrete from the apron. Make cosmetic repairs where concrete was eroded.

Jim and Jennifer were very responsive via email, call, and mostly stopping over our home multiple times to make sure they had a firm idea of what we wanted, how big, etc. The job was done very timely and it looks great. They were much more reasonable in price then any other estimates we received and the quality of the work was excellent. Highly recommended.

The sidewalk was removed and replaced in a timely, professional and accurate manner. Nice and level so no water pools anywhere and it really is very appealing.. Jim Strope provided great input that helped with our selection of a snakeskin finish which he brushed so that it would be less likely to be slippery in cold wet days which was a concern with having an elderly family member. I would not hesitate to hire them again and recommend them highly. I've added pictures so people can see the finished product.

Jim (and his wife) were easy to work with. They were not familiar with the semi in ground pool we had and did research on the pool to determine whether or not the patio I had in mind was feasible. They wanted to be sure the pool wall could support the concrete patio. They contacted the pool manufacturer and the pool company that installed our pool to discuss their concerns and obtain information. I was impressed with the effort they put into the project before we even agreed to hire them. When we got to selecting the concrete pattern, I was having a hard time visualizing how the concrete would look when completed and Jim invited us to his home to see what the finished products looks like. It made me feel sure about my selections. He and his team arrived when they said they would. Kept the project on time and discussed the progress with us regularly. Jim was able to blend the new retaining walls into the existing wall. The patio looks beautiful. The project went smoothly and we are happy with the final outcome. Jim was easy to work with and really cares about doing a good job.
Description of Work: We had a semi in ground pool installed into a slope. We wanted to have a patio installed around half. Because of the slope, we had to have the area leveled, we needed retaining walls and steps built. We had an existing retaining wall on the property that we wanted the new walls to match.

It went very well. Jim and Jenn were quick to come over for an estimate (the lowest of several). They were very good about returning calls and emails; we had lots of questions. Jim stopped by after another job one day to talk about concerns we had about patterns. We were thinking of using one that was basically rectangles. He explained that because our path has a curve, the flagstone pattern would look much better, and that he could add 3 colors to make it look more like our old one, and he would add an edge look and color our steps to blend in. It sounded just like what we wanted and we said ok. They started work the next day. We are very happy with the way it came out and we get lots of compliments from people walking by.

It is now about two months since the job was done. There are already several large cracks that go right through the floor as well as "alligatoring" over about 30% of the area. The contract called for him the install a wire mesh in the concrete to add strength to the job, but this was not done. There was minimal preparation of the surface before the floor was poured. The first and largest of the cracks (so far) showed up within a month. When I called to complain, he told me that he could "guarantee me that all concrete cracks eventually". When I said that it should not have cracked so soon, he told me to "not get an attitude with him." Besides the obvious structural issues with the job, the floor was not smoothed properly; there are ridges in the in the surface of the job, and the joints between the new floor and the old concrete floor and the walls are sloppy and already crumbling.. Besides the problems with the job itself, they left a pile of debris on my lawn and did not properly clean up where the cement truck spilled small amount of concrete. I called him numerous times to have him come out to talk about the job, but he never showed up. I am considering legal action.
