The estimator, Casey, gave me an estimate for a new roof and he went through it line by line. One of the lines states "all rotted plywood will be replaced at a cost of $50/sheet." When we got to that line I stated that I didn't have any plywood now and wouldn't need any because of the type of boards I have in my attic. Casey agreed, after having been in the attic and seeing the boards I had.. We had the previous roof for almost 29 years with no plywood. Imagine my shock when I was told after the roof was put on that I was being charged $1250 for plywood! After getting no where with Casey, I asked for an owner to call me. Angela called me back and after much arguing back and forth (she was very unprofessional) she said that the plywood would "be taken care of". The contract I signed stated "all rotted plywood would be replaced" and of course I didn't have any rotted plywood to be replaced! After the conversation with Angela I decided to only deal with them through emails because I didn't trust them to keep their word. I emailed them on July 7th because they had left my siding very dirty and they were supposed to be sending someone out to clean it. I also had nails in my driveway and lawn and still have roofing tiles on my back porch roof. In my email I stated that I wanted a final invoice. They emailed me back with an invoice. The invoice only had the original cost of the roof on it so I assumed (wrongly) that they had "taken care of" the plywood. Well 2 months after the roof was put on (August 3rd) I am receiving a bill for the plywood $1250. After reaching out to Angela again- she denied having told me that they would "take care of the plywood" and she told me that they would put a lien on my house. After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau I received a horrible voice mail from the owner. Mike Flynn, which says that when he responds to the complaint I'm "going to look like a fool" and "what makes me think you're so special that you don't have to pay your bills" and he went on to say that he "would put a lien on my house", "I own a part of your house right now" and "what makes you think you can walk away with a couple thousand dollars of ours". I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company!!

Response from The Roofing Guys
This customer had signed a contract stating she would pay for plywood if needed. Her boards were spaced too far apart to install the new roof. At this point we should have left the roof off and let her be rude, condescending, and disrespectful to another company, but we chose to complete the job per the terms of our contracted work which she signed. We had try to reason with her, give her a break on the cost of the plywood, explain why we couldn't install the roof without it, she continuously hung up on us and treated us like dirt. I am shocked that a school teacher behaves in such a manner and am sure there is more involved as her behavior is erratic and she didn't even realize she was telling lie after lie. I have screen shots of the emails and invoices of the portion of the bill she financed through a local company. The invoice did not have the original cost of the roof on it, it stated exactly that it was the cost financed to get paid on that portion: it said: COST DUE FINANCED THROUGH HOME HEADQUARTERS $9,920. We are definitely pursuing legal action against this customer not just because she breached her contract, but for the verbal abuse she has put our crew, staff, and management through.

After our roof was damaged by the hail storm last spring, we were inundated with roofing companies from in and out of state! Some were quite pushy I might add. I wanted a local company and called on “The Roofing Guys” for a quote. I met with Casey who was not only professional but guided us through the insurance claim process. He told us how his crew works and gave us an accurate time line from start to finish. The entire roof was completed in one day without a trace of debris or damage to any of our landscaping. If I hadn’t stopped by to check on progress I would never have known my roof was replaced that day. The “Roofing Guys” are an amazing company and I highly recommend them!

We have never come across contractor that were early, but they do exist. We have a busy household and they kept our family save during all of our comings and goings. The workers were professional and when the job was done our yard look like they were never here. The roof is beautiful. Thanks for making this a nice experience.

Roofing Guys was one of three companies (among many I had contacted) that send an estimator(Ken) immediately . Ken showed up to our appointment on time, well prepared and gave me an estimate right there. The price was reasonable, offered good materials and warranties better than others, and scheduled the project within a week. What I am most impressed with is a 15- member crew who did the job- professional and hardworking! They started about 9:30 AM and finished the same day by 7 PM. The work was well coordinated, Brandon demonstrated a great leadership skill in guiding his crew. They did an excellent work on protecting my house, gardens and plants, great job on my roof, and good clean up. By 7 PM when they left ,the only thing you would notice was a beautiful roof! Very professional from start to finish! I highly recommend this company!

What a great company to work with! They were professional from beginning to end. They were here early on the designated day, and stayed until the job was complete. They helped direct traffic into our building; and helped with parking. After the roof was finished, they walked around the building, checking the landscaping and parking lot for nails and other material. While here, they were friendly to everyone as they came in and out of the building.

I had a leak where the exhaust pipe was located AFTER the new roof was put on. I had the owner come by to show him water damage from the leak. He accused me the water damage was done BEFORE he did his work. I was absolutely offended and informed him this was NOT the case. He had is father in law come by to patch/repair the sheet rock inside of the house and again accused me I was not home when his father in law came by the first time. Overall, it was a poor job and a very bad experience to say the least.

An owner who was offensive and extremely defensive. When all he had to be was sympathetic and reassuring during an anguishing predicament he was responsible for. Instead he shook me up. My house was due for a new roof. Though I NEVER had a leak. Just being proactive. $11,000 bid beat 2 other reputable offers. So, I went for it. The job was done in September. All seemed fine and to the naked eye, looked good. During a March thaw, a 2nd floor bedroom/roof ceiling started leaking like a sieve. We didn't catch it until things got flowing onto the main floor. After a few frantic calls and emails to the roofing guys, I got a return call from the owner. He assured me he'd be sending over a crew the next day to check things out. The next morning I got an email telling me his staff weren't returning for the season until the following Monday and I'd have to wait. I begged him for immediate service. Ceilings collapsing, wood floors soaking and buckets everywhere. He got angry and short with me saying that for all he knew it was squirrels or pipes causing this. NOT SO. I knew i was in trouble. I called a proven contractor. They checked things out and told me where the screw up in installation was. We put a huge tarp over the problem area. I didn't have the stomach to deal with the indifference and intimidation of this owner/company. I called their insurance company. The adjuster acknowledged the faulty installation and paid on behalf of the insured for interior repairs only. The money was no where near enough to get things back to where it was. Mold, staining warping etc...they wouldn't pay to repair the roof either. Just the damaged caused by the bad roof? So, I ended up calling the company to back up their warranty. Their head foreman came over. He explained that the whole job wasn't done how he would have done it? A crew came out and fixed a part of the roof that was flatter than their satellite pictures depicted? A miserable experience. A painful experience.. BEWARE!!!! I've got pictures, videos, emails, invoices, insurance correspondence, etc... Reach out if you like. Every month when I pay an installment on a home equity loan to for the work of The Roofing Guys I am reminded........... After reading the owners responses to other's complaints, I'm expecting to read some excuses or accusations. All I'd really like to hear is a simple apology.

I have supporting documentation that during the times The Roofing Guys tried to attempt to do work on the house we were denied access or the homeowner would not respond to phone calls or emails for weeks at a time. We just recently completed free siding repairs to make up for the mistake in the installation which was also fixed. Out of thousands of roofs the handful of mistakes that were corrected are always the ones to post the bad reviews. We always warranty our work, stand by our products and install, and if anything is not up to par we fix it at no charge as we did for this homeowner. We are sorry he had to go through this, but we did everything to try to make it right.

The roof guys where amazing! Quick in and out! The siding was a bit of a chore. We had a wall rebuilt because of water damage and mold. The damage was more extensive than expected so we purchased the parts in exchange for excess time that wasn't included in the quote. Final wrap up took some time, but as soon as the issue was made known it was corrected very quickly! Very happy with our service. Highly recommend these guys

I contacted Roofing Guys due to their good rating on Angie's list and also because a friend of mine had a good experience with them. When we bought our house three years ago it is clear that the roof on the back half of the house was done more recently, whereas the front half was older, and there are a few problem spots on the front (no leaks, just warped and or a few missing shingles. We contacted Roofing guys on July 20th, 2015 to get an estimate. -- To note, I also contacted three other roofing companies (that were listed on Angie's list). I believe the only other company that even responded was VanDerHoff Roofing, and we also got an estimate from them. The guy from Van DerHoff got us a quote first and said that the back portion of the roof looked fine, and they recommended just doing a repair on the few problem sections in the front and quoted us $380. Ken from Roofing guys got back to us quickly with a quote for re-roofing the entire house and it was 11K and change. I then asked him about possibly just doing a repair and he said "Front half is pretty bad ( bad wood or st least not secured) Wouldn't recommend repair. I think it would be costly repair and wouldn't avoid the inevitable. (Replacement) basically would be paying a lot more ( same thing twice )." I wasn't certain that it was actually as bad as he seemed to make it, though the logic of not paying twice was worth considering. Because we knew that at some point the front would need to be re-roofed we then we asked both companies (on August 13th) to give us a quote for just doing the front half. After several follow-up e-mails (to both companies), on Aug. 25th, Roofing guys stated they could do half of the roof for half the $ of the original quote and Ken said he would stop by to revise our original quote. Between Aug. 25th and the first week of September when Ken came by I found out I was going to be losing my job, among other bad news --- ie, it was a very bad week. When Ken arrived I told him about our situation and Ken nicely suggested perhaps we could re-pair now, and then replace later in the spring, but if we wanted to go ahead with the half roof replacement he would get us in the cue (and it would be replaced in October if that is what we decided to do). He said he knew a repair guy who he would have come take a look at the roof so we can get an idea of what the repair cost would be and he would get back to us. As one might expect, I was a bit distracted during the month of September, and it did not occur to me that we never heard back from Ken. I sent him an e-mail on Oct. 1st (Nearly a month since he came to visit) asking whether his repair guy had had a chance to take a look at the roof. -- NO REPLY -- I sent another follow-up e-mail on Oct. 15th -- again NO REPLY, I sent a Third e-mail on Oct. 23rd. I finally did get a response and he said "we should be there within 2 weeks to complete". I was not sure what this meant because it was our understanding that someone was going to look at the roof to do a repair, and we were waiting to see how much this would be.... clearly he had forgotten where things stood, and after a few e-mails back and forth he again said "I believe that's the way we might proceed. Repair now then re-roof in spring." He stopped by again on Nov. 3rd. very quickly to confirm that this was the new plan at which time he told us that they would deduct the cost of repair from the cost of the re-roof once we have that done. This all sounded fine with us, however we still did not know how much the repair would cost, and had none of this in writing. I sent a follow-up e-mail Nov. 6th, then again Nov. 14th asking for something in writing. Ken replied to my e-mail on the 16th apologizing for the delay in getting back to me and said he would have something to me soon. I then GOT NOTHING , again, and send ANOTHER e-mail expressing my frustration about the lack of communication on Nov. 23rd. Ken wrote back on Nov. 26th again apologizing, and gave us a quote for the repair. The repair quote was $800 -- more than double what VanDerHoff had originally quoted us for repair. The quote was a simple made-up word document that didn't state anything about time-frame, or any mention of them doing a re-roof in spring with repair costs deducted., etc. On Nov. 28th I asked for a new contract with all of this information, and did eventually receive a more detailed contract with all of the information on it that I requested. ? By this time, we were coming close to the holidays, and Ken suggested we get back in touch right after x-mas. I e-mailed him on Jan. 7th asking when the repair can be rescheduled. He got back to me the next day saying that he forwarded the message to the owner and I should be getting a call very soon with a start time. Then asked if they could just go ahead and do the complete re-roof (of the front half) instead of doing a repair. I have to admit that I was incredibly annoyed at this because of the crazy amount of procrastination I had been dealing with from them by this point, and with this statement, it seemed as though this was done purposefully, and that they never intended to do the repair in the first place. I responded on Jan. 10th with: ?Since we had discussed not doing the complete - half roof until spring, (hence the plan to repair now, and replace later), I am not in a position to be able to do the replacement right now. As discussed, we would prefer to go ahead with a repair for now.? Here we are (Feb. 21st). I never heard back from them at all after that. ? This is truly the WORST company I have ever dealt with. Their lack of communication is simply unreal. We are definitely looking for a different company.

They messed up the chimney. Had ice dam in winter. Melted ice ruined walls in Kitchen and Dining room on 2nd floor and Kitchen in 1st floor apts. They said my insurance would cover it. My insurance doesn't cover this. Their insurance company refused to cover the damage as well. Worse... The round pipe chimney in old square hole (was brick) has a break between the roof and the pipe. You can see the sun come through. I asked one of their managers to come out to see it. Once he made an appointment and stiffed me. No one came in his place. Second time he just ignored my email. Twice a supervisor (Brandon) came out. Both times he said he would try to correct it - once to reset the material around the pipe and other time to paint a clear silicon black so I could see something really was there where the sun shines through. Both times he said he would let me know when they were coming in case I wanted to watch the job. He never called, the chimney looks the same. This was over a period of 3-4 months. These people don't have bad customer support. They have NO support. Run like h***.

When gathering estimates for some work that we wanted done, The Roofing Guys were the only ones who didn't take the time to properly examine my house and determine that what I had originally wanted was impossible for my house due to the way that it was constructed. They wrote me up a quote for work that they would have known wasn't possible to complete had they actually given the site more than a quick peek through the door. Obviously, we didn't go with them for the job and were pretty turned off from considering them for future work.

In summary: Efficient, quality, and professionally performed work at a fair price. Quote: Back in early May 2015 I contacted The Roofing Guys based on their exceptional ratings here on Angie's List. The estimator was friendly, responsive, and helpful and I discovered that their quote was in-line with two of the other, top-reviewed Angie's List providers, and well below the top quote I had received. Arrival: Originally the work was planned for late May but due to us changing the shingle type/color and a heavy June rains, we finally had a date set for a July day. The estimator told me to expect about a day and a half job, but when the team of 15 or so showed up at 7:15a, the foreman laughed at that timeline and said his team will have it done in a 1/2 day. Progress: And wow, were they fast: By 8 am they had the house covered in tarps and ladders, the landscape and lower house all protected with plywood sheets, and had begun scraping the old shingles off. When I left a 1/2 hour later, the roof looked to be about 33% scraped clean. By 1:30pm the team had completely finished and cleaned up their work, had packed their trucks, and the foreman was standing at our door ready for the wrap-up. The team even took the time to replace a three foot section of a soffit board that had been severely damaged over the years by a woodpecker. All in all, a very clean and quality job. We were very happy with the work.
Description of Work: Remove the roof down to the plywood and re-shingled the complete roof on a 19 year-old colonial, two story home. None of the plywood beneath the singles needed replacing but had they found any rotting wood, the cost of three sheets of plywood and installation were included in the quote.

Ken was excellent to work with on the quote; came the same day I called them! Told workers would start at 7:30 and they were here right on time. Conscientious about site cleanup and not leaving a mess. They took pictures on my cell phone so I could see the work they did. I would highly recommend this company for any roofing work you need.
Description of Work: Replaced shingles on roof & skylight. Installed screen plugs on soffits.
