They arrived on time to give a quote for the flood lights and kitchen fan. After that quote was received I decided to also add the bathroom fan. They were prompt in redoing the quote and emailing it to me. The proposal did not include some specifics I had discussed with them regarding light color, adjusting side light, and the senior discount. I added these things to the proposal and emailed it back to them for their approval. When the electrician arrived to do the work, the kitchen fan was not included in the parts he had picked up the day before. He called the owner to verify that it was to be included and they dropped off the fan. They are great people to work with and I was happy with the completed work.
Description of Work: Installed flood lights over the garage and at the side door. Replaced exhaust fan in the kitchen and replaced bathroom fan. installed front porch light. Replaced bad electric outlet in dining area.

The experience was pretty good. Because they were replacing old wiring, it was unpleasant work. They did a really stupid thing and replaced a fixture so that I can't close the closet door. I'm sure they will make it right. They were wonderful to work with.

We emailed our needs to Patruno, and within 24 hours of that email, the company contacted us. Within a few days of of first contact, a meeting was scheduled for proposal of work needed. I was told it would take 24 hours to receive the proposal by email and an additional 24 hours from that to receive the written proposal my US mail. We received the email proposal by the end of the day of the inspection of our house, and received the written proposal the next day in the mail. the work was began on Tuesday April 3. The team arrived on planned scheduled, and work completed within 5 hours.

We have used Patruno several times, and we will call them again when we need an electrician. They are on time (or early), do the job efficiently and seem reasonably priced (I didn't get comparison estimates). They are responsive when you call them and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them.

I was impressed by how quickly the company responded to my call and questions, and I think they went out of their way to help me solve the problem myself for less than they would have charged for the repair. So while I have no experience with the quality of their work, their customer service is top-notch. Should I need an electrician in the future, they will be my first call.
Description of Work: The timer connected to our hot water heater stopped working. The water heater itself works just fine, but there was no way to bypass the timer. I called Patruno Electric after finding them on Angie's List. They asked a few questions, and tried to help me troubleshoot the problem while on the phone. Unfortunately, after running through those steps, the timer still was not working. So they advised that the timer would need to be replaced, and they would contact me shortly with an estimate. Less than an hour later, David called back to explain my options. 1) They could buy the part, come down to my house, and install it for me. Or, 2) I could order the part online (they found a company that sold it) for cheaper than they could purchase it from their distributor. Further they advised that replacing the timer was a pretty simple repair (as long as you verify the electricity is off) and suggested we might want to try replacing the part ourselves. I could always request a service call later if we had difficulty with the installation. So we went with option 2 and have hot water once again.

They charge $85 for the first hour which is crazy money. He was actually going to put a new post in but he just changed the solar. It took him only five minutes and he charged me $100. They charge the full amount whether they are here for five minutes or fifty five minutes but he was good. I would recommend him. I don't like paying $85 an hour. Their pricing is high but their quality of service is excellent. He was very quick to respond. He was actually here earlier than the appointment time. This is my third home and I've dealt with no shows and no calls over the course of three houses but they were recommended to be by a friend. I guess you got to pay the top dollar.

We called Patruno for an emergency estimate and repair based on highly favorable comments on Angie's List. The electrical system in our 1920s vintage house had lost its ground and a technician came by a day or so later to diagnose, estimate and temporarily repair. Full inspection indicated that new service from street to house was needed as well as an updated panel to meet city codes. Patruno provided the estimate, pulled necessary permits, made arrangements with the power company and did the actual installation/repair on the day and within the time frame promised. They also deducted the charges for the emergency repair from the cost of the completed installation. They were courteous, punctual, professional and competent in every aspect of our project and we would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend their service to others.
Description of Work: Installed 100 amp 120-240 volt electrical service with exterior meter per National Grid specs. Installed 100 amp 20 circuit main breaker electrical panel. Installed existing circuits into new panel on proper amperage breakers as per wire size rating. Installed 20 amp GFCI receptacle adjacent to panel per code. Installed porcelain pullchain fixture above panel. Provided electrical panel index for circuit identification. Electrical permit, labor, materials and coordination of inspection agency and National Grid included.

This Company responded to my request for service right away. They were well informed and kept me updated as to the progress of the work. Workmen onsite were polite and professional. My work was a complete reinstall of the electrical service while we occupied the house.I consider this to be a difficult job to coordinate because of the involvement of National Grid and the local electrical inspector. Patruno pulled this off in excellent fashion.

An electrician and helper showed up on time. I had a ceiling light that was not properly installed (i.e. it had no box and there were bare wires amidst some fiberglass insulation), so they took out the old light fixture, inserted a new box, and installed the new ceiling light. The entire job took less than an hour, and they cleaned up after themselves (i.e. no left over fiberglass bits.) They did track in a bit of dirt, but offered to vacuum up afterwards. The total cost was $10 more than the estimate due to taxes and they charged for the ceiling outlet box.

Not an emergency call per se, but needed work done asap - we're selling our house and needed to fix items on a home inspection report. David the owner took the call personally, talked me through the three questionable items on the report. He explained that it wasn't necessary to do anything about one of them. I called on a Friday and he fit me in on the schedule for Monday tentatively or Tuesday definitely if that didn't work out - he said he'd keep in touch about it. I got a call about 3 hours later and was told that he was sending a crew to my house immediately. This was over and above and greatly appreciated. His crew was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. One of the guys looked at the breaker in question and said it was fine but saw a different one that should be changed that the inspector had missed. David was very clear about his rates and gave me a good estimate of what the work would cost. I can't praise this company enough.

The bulbs burned out late on a Friday afternoon. Both of us are disabled, so we called Patruno for help. They were the only ones we called who would come out on a Saturday. The kitchen is unusually dark. He charged $75 to drive out, and another $75 for the first half hour. He was professional, though his prices were a little steep. This was the most I ever paid for a mere bulb replacement, but, I guess that's what you pay for work on a Saturday.
Description of Work: We had a square fluorescent light fixture (with two 'U' shaped bulbs) burn out in the kitchen. I thought there was a slight burning smell. When the fixture was installed about four years ago, we bought a couple of spare bulbs. Turns out we only needed the bulbs replaced.

Overall my experience with Patruno was excellent. They are very detail oriented with email a work proposal to you prior to them coming out, and ensuring that everything I needed was included. I did not receive an estimate because it was a service call. The work they did was excellent and once they were on site and saw what the situation was they offered suggestions as to the best way to fix and prevent this from happening again without making it feel like they were trying to up sell or pad the bill. The cost of the work I had done was very reasonable in my opinion and will most definitely hire them again. The only glitch in the entire experience was with scheduling, coordinating my schedule with them but they were very accommodating. David Patruno, the owner, called multiple times to get my work scheduled to my earliest convenience, which impressed me. I will definitely recommend them and hire them again in the future.

Very well. They ran into a problem because of the way the fixtures were installed when the house was built, the fixtures were integrated into the framing and some could not be removed. Patruno left, figured it out, and returned. The job required longer than they had planned, but they charged me their original quote. They were professional, very experienced, very concerned over Code and safety, cleaned up, polite, explained everything--just a good experience. I highly recommend Patruno.

I have used them for various jobs in the last six years and they have always done excellent work for me. I have had them do some of the knob and tube wiring. They have also added some wiring to my electrical panel. I have a three-storeyed house and they have looked at everything to make sure it is safe. They fixed everything I needed. The last time I used them, I spent about $300. I like them because they always come out when they say they would. They always clean up after themselves and they explain what they have done. If I ever have any questions, they go through everything very carefully and explain why they need to do something. I am very pleased with their taking time to make me understand how things work. I have an old house and it is important to know what is happening with the wiring system. I will use them again in the future.

Perfect! Beautiful. The electricians were highly professional, courteous, willing to explain everything as they went along, open to suggestions, quick to respond to requests, and they were fast, fast fast. Several electrical outlets in my home suddenly stopped working so I contacted Patruno Electric based on their positive reviews on Angie's List. The person I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful and my appointment was scheduled within several days. The electrician was prompt and professional and, in addition to diagnosing and fixing the outlet problem, he also installed a light fixture and four GFI outlets. A+ experience from start to finish! I was very pleased with Patruno Electric's personnel and service. I would definitely use them again and have already recommended them to a co-worker.

Response from Patruno Electric
This owner and his wife are two of the nicest people we have worked for. They certainly brought their southern hospitality with them to Syracuse. There were even a few items we did for them during the project that we did not charge them for. My crew tells me they were very nice people to work for. We actually completed this project on October 30. My concern is that the owner states our workers were “messy.” Ironically, just days before the project started, we had a company meeting where we spoke at length about cleaning up and how important it is. We periodically repeat things at meetings to reinforce its importance. After reading the report I spoke to my guys thinking that because the house had rooms gutted and the owners were not living there at the time maybe they did not pick-up as well as they should have. That excuse wouldn’t have been OK with me but that is what I expected. However the crew didn’t think they were messy and even mentioned the meeting where we talked at length about neatness/cleaning-up, etc. So I definitely wanted to speak to the owner to get specifics that I can discuss with the crew. I did speak to the owner about his post. We really do care about the clients and want total satisfaction with our service. He didn’t give any specifics about what was “messy” about the crew and said he’d revise the post. I never would have responded to his post except that since his post we have not received one call from an Angie’s List member. We know this because we ask everyone who calls how they heard of us. I can’t help but think that his post is the reason. It should also serve as a powerful reminder to all contractors that Angie’s List member’s comments carry a lot of weight with other members. No one wants a “messy” contractor in their house, including me. We take such comments very seriously.
