This was the first time we have used Isaac, and I would definitely recommend them to other Angie's List members. It was the Angie's list reviews that directed us to them, and I am happy to leave another positive review. They took care of everything we contracted them for, and the one small issue that occurred they took ownership of and rectified. I have a high-end Nest thermostat in the home, and somehow during the cleaning process the thermostat must have gotten a surge or something and went dead. The technician called Nest customer support, arranged for a new base to be shipped (it was under warranty) and the tech came back in a few days to get it re-installed on the wall. Overall they were very professional, and we are happy with the $300 we spent.

To begin, it is only fair to state that I was an HVAC tech for over 20 years and a teacher for the past 13. I built an addition to my house and installed a new mini-split heat pump I purchased myself. During my years in the trade I installed dozens of these systems. I started it up but soon realized I had a refrigerant leak. Not having some of the necessary tools anymore, I called Isaac. The tech showed up on time and looked professional. I told him I was 99% sure the leak was behind the indoor wall unit, as there are only two possible connections on the system, and I was not confident in that connection. I offered coffee and left him alone. About a 1/2 hour later, I checked in and the tech was not to be found. I waited another 15 minutes and found him at the outside condenser unit with the unit apart. I asked him if found a leak and he stated no. I reminded him that the leak was most likely inside. Another 15 minutes passes and he decides to come inside. He immediately steps on my new $400 area rug with muddy shoes and I quickly rolled it up. He said something about wearing booties and left. I grabbed a canvas tarp and laid it out. He came back and began waving his electronic leak detector around.....not really where the leak was. I asked if he needed help getting the cover off. He said no and then used a drill to remove 2 tiny screws, nicking my freshly painted wall in the process. Again..waving his leak detector around but not behind the unit. I then sort of took over and lifted the unit away from the wall so we could get to the piping connection. The presence of refrigerant oil confirmed that this was connection that was leaking. The tech left again and returned about 30 minutes later. He stated the cost to fix this would be $650. If I had the tools, I could have fixed this leak in about 30 minutes at little cost. He charged me $189 to sit in his truck for 90 minutes and then tell me something I already knew. Several days later, I decided to call the company..something I never do. The office manager was sympathetic and stated she would get back to me. Instead, I got a call from the service manager who claimed they actually didn't charge me enough..seriously. As a former business owner, I understand that the price is sometimes more than people expect. Unfortunately, this company operates in their best interest, not the customers. A rookie service tech should have had the problem identified and fixed in less than an hour. Instead I get a song and dance about flat rates and how thorough they are. No thanks....

Dear Angie's List Member, I sincerely apologize for the experience you had recently with our branch location, and I have already discussed your experience with our team. The particulars of your call should be broken down into 2 segments; one explainable, and the other inexcusable. On the explainable side, the reason our technician proceeded to do a complete leak search was that once we start work on a system, especially one that is low on charge, we are going to "own" the issue going forward and we need to make sure that there are no other possible leaks that exist other than the obvious one you mentioned. This situation was exasperated by the fact that where the obvious leak existed was at a flair joint that you installed. As our General Manager of Field Forces discussed with you over the phone, this was one of several flairs that you performed all the same way, and if one fitting was leaking there was a high probablilty that the other could be as well given that all of them were not done correctly. Again, we needed to make sure that we were not accepting responsibility for something that was or could develop into a larger issue. I do think that our team could have communicated this much better to you at the time of the call, and I completely understand your confusion and dissatisfaction with what you saw without an explanation. The second issue of the dirty feet, scratched wall, and lack of cleanliness is as I said, inexcusable. We pride ourselves on providing prompt, professional service, and those elements of the call that you described fall short of that. As our GM already offered to you, we would be happy to have the rugs professionally cleaned and make any other repairs to damage that you feel we created. My understanding is that when this was offered to you, you declined but I want you to know that that offer still stands. Additionally, i will be happy to have a field supervisor review the call with you on-site, and work with you on making the necessary repairs to the system at an agreeable price. I have a Gold Seal protection plan from Isaac covering my furnace and air conditioner. The protection plan is kind of expensive in my opinion, but I spent the money for piece of mind. They were at my house in under 2 hours, which in my opinion is great for a Sunday morning. Got the furnace working in less than 2 hours, and everything was covered by my protection plan. As a matter of fact the repair without the protection plan would have been considerably more than what the protection plan cost. Money well spent, and I will definitely be renewing my plan when it expires later this year. Every experience I have had with Isaac has been very professional and satisfying.
Description of Work: I had to call Isaac Heating at 6:30 this morning because a awoke to a cold house. My furnace had stopped working at some point during the night.

Everything went totally smooth. The installers, Jim and Ryan, were very professional. It is rare now to see people that actually work for their money. They both were highly knowledgeable and technically intelligent. I can only rate them as a 10 on a scale or 1 to 10. The old furnace was very heavy and difficult to remove from the basement. They had to work especially hard to accomplish this. The end product looks very neat both inside and out. Also after setting up the thermostat and trying out all of the cycles for both heat and air conditioning, we found that everything works perfectly. We are totally satisfied with the whole job including the company itself.

We had several companies come out to provide estimates for installing central air. ALL the companies except Isaac's said the same exact thing, with similar prices, and identical suggestions. The rep from Isaac's spent about 3 times longer looking around the get the information for the estimate than anyone else did. He didn't even give me the estimated price while he was there. Every other company wrote up a quote while they were there. All I needed was price for equipment and labor for installing AC unit, but the rep from Isaac's spent a really long time telling me my furnace was inadequate and old and "probably really noisy" (which it isn't noisy at all) and explained the types and sizes of furnaces he would recommend... I'm not in the market for a furnace... it may be old but it works beautifully... just saying. Then he spent another ridiculously long time explaining that my duct work is inadequate as well and not ANY of the other companies mentioned anything like that. So after all that he said he'd email me the quote. I didn't get the quote until a week to 10 days later and it was completely blank. Like the template was attached but not the completed form. So I have no idea what they would have changed but I'm sure whatever it was included the price of new ductwork and a new furnace!

Dear Angie's List Member, I apologize that you were not happy with our sales process, but just because our "competition" in the market gave a quick estimate without fully assessing the house is something I would question. I can assure you that none of them did an ACCA Manual J calculation to determine the proper sizing (This is not something that can be done immediately at your house), nor does it seem that they offered any other recommendations to improve the comfort or efficiency in your home along with the A/C proposal. I question whether they spoke to you about duct static that can significantly affect the performance of your A/C, or the difference between R22 and the newer refrigerants, or the various models available that can significantly reduce your energy bills in the long run, while increasing your comfort. After 68 years in business we have seen this many many times form other contractors out there, and usually with undesirable results. I appreciate the fact that you did not like what we consider the proper procedure for designing and estimating a proper A/C installation, but this is not something we will change. As for the blank form, there may have been a problem with the transmission. We would have been happy to resend if you had notified us. I wish you luck with your new system. Ray Isaac

Arrived exactly on time. Did a though cleaning and inspection of the furnace and a/c. Although it was raining he donned his rain gear and cleaned and inspected the outside a/c fan. Upon completion of the job he gave us a full report on the condition of our equipment.....which we really appreciated. We would use this company again.

While all three vendors bidding for this work were evenly priced (within $100.00 of each other), Isaac was chosen because of their high ratings and their three year, no interest financing terms. I was extremely happy with the work and the workmen, Jim and Chris. We had scheduled the work a month in advance, but a company meeting was scheduled for the install day during the interim. PJ called that morning to indicate Jim would be a little late due to the meeting, but that he was also sending a helper to make up for the time. The work was done very neat and orderly. Jim and Chris placed drop cloths everywhere they carried equipment or walked. They vacuumed every day before leaving, and ensured removed parts were disposed of properly and promptly. During the installation, Jim made notice of a potentially life safety issue with the vent for the water heater. He brought this to my attention promptly, and we made the necessary pricing and work adjustments to resolve the issue. Now we are calm, cool and comfortable during the recent wave of 85+ temperatures. I can't wait to start enjoying the energy savings during the winter months too.

The process began early in the morning promptly at 8:00AM with the removal of all the old equipment, boiler, water heater and associated plumbing. At about noon the installation of the new equipment began. At about 7:00PM it was finished. The next week a techician returned to check everything and make final adjustments. At the one year anniversary a technician returned to clean and service the unit at no charge. I would rate service as excellent from start to finish. I had used this contractor before, as they have recently moved into this market, but my experience was with them in Rochester where they have been in business for many years.
Description of Work: Complete upgrade of heating system. New ultra high effeciency boiler and tankless hot water heater installed.

So our experience with Isaac was not a good one--techs were consistently over their heads even on simple jobs.
Description of Work: I needed work done on a boiler system (5 year old combi system) which was shutting itself down randomly for reasons that were not apparent. Isaac Heating & AC first sent a junior tech who was clearly over his head and made no progress over two visits--but we were charged anyway. They then called in a senior tech from Rochester who said we had a bad zone valve and that the wiring on it was done wrong (I told them it had always worked fine in the past, as it had). They replaced the valve and rewired it (several hundred dollars p&l). The zone now doesn't work at all---valve seems to be locked open and can't be controlled from its thermostat--basically we are left with a one zone system whereas before we had two. And the boiler continued to shut down, so no fix there either. After $800 we were worse off than we started. I gave up on Isaac (I used them, ironically, because they were rated highly on Angie's list). I then found a company (Krell) that was recommended by a general contractor. They promptly fixed the boiler (a simple pressure balancing problem, charging $100) but they refused to work on the now inoperative zone valve, saying they don't like to try to fix other people's mistakes--risky for them. Can't blame them for that. Also, in the midst of all this, I also had Isaac (they sent the junior tech) clean our furnace (we have forced air in one wing of the house, furnace works fine). This resulted in the junior tech leaving a gas leak that they had to send a more senior tech to fix.

Dear Client, We are surprised and discouraged to hear that you are still experiencing a problem with the zone valve that we replaced. This is the first time since early last fall that we have been made aware that there was still an issue. To be clear, the signed service records do not match what you are indicating in your report, and the valve was replaced because of a bad end switch on the valve itself, and is not something that a "balancing" issue would have precipitated. The issue that the other contractor corrected could have been caused by some air entering the system during the valve work. Please be aware that the previous repairs are covered by our service warranty, so if the valve is still not operational we would definitely repair or replace that for you at no charge. Regarding the gas leak, that was something that was caused by the union not re-seating properly when we reassembled it, and is an oversight on our part. We apologize for the inconvenience and it is not something that should have happened. Thanks for your patience while that was corrected. The representative had to diagnose the cause of the furnace fan not turning on. The problem was more complex than first thought. He had to pick up a new part which he didn't normally carry in his truck. He took his time and did the job right. He also cleaned up after the job. Overall we were satisfied and grateful.

I needed a new furnace as the one I had was 27 years old and dying. Isaac had come to work on it in February, and it worked until Oct., then stopped working again. They made another service call, and got it running, but it was clear it would not last much longer. A field rep named P.J. arranged an appointment to come to my house. He was on time, and very professional - as had been the repairmen who had previously come. Everyone put on blue paper booties before coming in the house. P.J. did a great job of explaining my options, and I chose to go with a Rheem furnace. P.J. also took pictures and provided necessary documentation for my home association in order to get the project quickly approved. They were able to install the furnace right away. They worked with my available times, the technician arrived right at 7:30 am as planned so I could get out of the house in time to go to work. He put plastic runners down my stairway and into the furnace room so there was no dirt tracked in. They deducted the price of the last service call from my total cost. A week later, a technician from Isaac came to make sure everything was running smoothly, and answer any questions I might have had. I was very impressed with the professionalism showed at all points of this process. And so far the furnace is doing just what it's supposed to!

They were very, very fast. They were very prompt and arrived on time. They performed the job a lot faster than I expected them to. They were very nice and answered any questions we had. They explained what they were doing. They had the thing up and running cooling the house in just a few hours. They were courteous, prompt and attentive. We did some shopping around and they had the best price. We will use them anytime we need anything heating and air wise.

We've been very pleased with them. It took a little while to get everything settled right but they were diligent about it and kept coming until it was right. There was a time that they had to wait for something to come in and they didn't call and give us updates so we were left kind of hanging and wondering the status. They did excellent work but it would have been nice if they had given us updates. The price was reasonable. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We used Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning for air conditioning. They put in central air and an air conditioning unit on the wall in the basement.

From the time I called to have a representative come to my house and give me an estimate to install central air to the installation, the entire process was very pleasant and Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning was very accommodating to my schedule. They were able to give me an estimate the same day they came out to look over the job, and were very competitive with the other estimates I had received. Everyone I came in contact with was very professional and were more than happy to answer my questions and concerns. The installation couldn't have gone better. They arrived on time, and went through the entire process with me and offered suggestions for some minor changes from the initial estimate. The workers were very professional, diligent, and worked extremely clean. I was impressed that they worked straight through, never taking a lunch break. Over all my experience was outstanding and I will be using them in the future.

It was a good experience. They were on time. They were professional and very thorough. They broke down what our price was going to be and put in the tax credit that we would get. They told us how long they would be here for and what we needed to do. We would use them again in the future.

Our pilot light on our furnace died on us just after New Years. We called the morning we found out (and boy did we find out!) and this company sent a guy out that day. He arrived promptly, replaced the worn-out part and had us back to warmth in short order. During the service visit the technician was very friendly, worked efficiently, and overall gave me a very good impression. I should add that the phone service was also high quality, compared to some other companies I tried calling on a Saturday morning.

They were very prompt with coming out and giving me a quote. They offered an excellent warranty. Their price was very competitive, but I didn't have any work done by them. They provided a very detailed estimate. They did a good job providing the estimate. They went through the house and checked everything. They told me some things that were wrong that they couldn't fix, but they just brought it to my attention. We didn't use them only because we decided to go with a different brand of furnace that they didn't sell. If they would have sold that type we would have used them.

The technician arrived on time with all his duct cleaning equipment, including an empty filter bag which we observed before he began. All registers were carefully removed and ducts covered with filter paper to prevent dust from escaping into adjacent rooms. He then selected the proper size rotating soft brush head and vacuum for each duct size. The cleaning took sometime due to the age and many changed to the Heating A/C system through the years. He was patient and throughly cleaned each duct. We then observe the filter bag at the end, with it's 35 years worth of dust bunnies.
Description of Work: Duct cleaning of whole house. 9 registers and 2 cold air returns all the way to the furnace.
