John one of their service techs came out and did diagnosis the first day, which took over almost 2 hours. I have five zone heating and one zone hadn't worked right since moving in. At the same time a fuse was blown on one circuit board. The first service we called was Richmond Plumbing; $135 for their diagnosis. They wanted to charge $25 to replace an 86 cent fuse, I said I'll do it myself, thank you for the diagnosis. The problem was temporarily fixed. When John from PAC came over he realized there was a problem either with Thermostat or the board through testing and he actually reproduced the blown fuse... we went through 3 fuses. After narrowing it down we were able to see that it was the circuit board itself. One of the zones was causing an overload and blowing the fuse. He ordered the board and came back several days later to install. I know a TACO SR506 is around $200, the initial diagnosis was $90 (he was there 2 hours so it's expected), the rest of the labor for disconnecting and reconnecting the board with about 40 connections for all the thermostats and circulator pumps was $750. These prices are high but not higher than competitors. And for the amount of time, diagnosis and work it was a fair price. They also present you with a pre-printed manual of pricing for each type of service, so you don't feel they are fabricating some price on the spot. John was amazing and honest and I will definitely use PAC plumbing again if needed.
Description of Work: Changed out a TACO thermostat relay switch board.

The woman in the office who takes calls and schedules appointments was very polite and efficient. The plumber the company sent, Bobby, was great. He did a neat and thorough job and we were impressed with the results. He even pointed out potential problems and told us how to avoid them. Unfortunately this terrific plumber was accompanied by his boss's price list. The boss must be a direct descendant of Robin Hood because his prices are highway robbery. I'm glad we decided to get the job done anyway since Bobby did such an excellent job but I will hesitate to call this company in the future due to the exorbitant prices.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear you had a great experience with our Technician Bobby and felt comfort speaking with Carol. I will make sure to let them know what a great job they did, as we pride ourselves on our customer’s experience. Let me begin by saying that I agree completely that $700 is a lot of money to pay for valve and faucet replacement. Unfortunately, we here at P.A.C. Plumbing, Heating, & A/C are caught up in the same inflationary pressures that are a worry to everyone today. The prices that we must pay for the labor and other elements that go into professional repair service are constantly rising. The result is that service rates must go up in price like everything else does. The technicians wage rate is only one of the factors that contribute to our flat rate pricing. Such things as truck and travel costs, tools and test equipment, insurance, technical training, rent, and salaries of backup personnel are just some of the other expenses that must be paid. We use an industry standard flat rate pricing book based on the national average repair times and parts to perform a repair. We hope you understand and wish to have a long lasting relationship with you as our customer.

Again, nothing since he never called me back. I read the reviews on Angies List and was hoping for a good outcome. My upstairs toilet isn't working, my shower faucet is leaking when the shower is on. My water bill was $380 for two people! I needed to know if I could get this fixed on Monday...I did not want to have to wait until Monday for a call back. I would have to take off of work, so I should not have been left hanging by this company. It really p***** me off.
Description of Work: Nothing. I emailed my problem hoping for a call back in the morning. No answer by 3 pm, so I called and left my information with the answering service. Again, no call back. Called again after 7 pm and was told I would not get a call back until monday because I don't have a service contract with them! I needed a couple of plumbing jobs done and maybe I would have bought a service contract had they called me back. No courtesy whatsoever. I am going to call someone else.

We sincerely apologize that no one got back to you on Sunday to set up a Monday appointment. Our office is closed on Sundays and our answering service only delivers messages from emergency calls after business hours. Our Service Manager called you first thing Monday morning but was unable to leave a message on your voice mail due to the mailbox being full. Scheduling home repairs around a work schedule can be difficult and we apologize for the inconvenience. I ask that you give us a second chance so we can prove to you that through our work we live up to the “A” letter grade we have on Angie’s List.

We called several plumbers, and had a hard time getting someone. We called PAC, and they sent someone over to take a look at the problem on a Saturday morning. He was able to assess the problem and set up an appointment - it was a big job, and not an emergency, so I knew they would not be able to fix the problem right away. On the scheduled date, two men came over, including the original person who assessed the problem, and they were done in about 2 hours. They had to break up part of the basement floor and replace a few feet of pipe, as well as clean out the pipe. Everything was explained to me and the men were very professional - the area was left clean after they were done. The price was about what I had expected, and they also explained that the cost would be more if they had to go further under the basement floor, so I knew what the worst case/cost would have been as well. Overall, I was very satisfied and would call them again.

It did not go well given that nobody showed up. Instead of rescheduling with this company, I decided to call another company that I found on Angie's list. They came within 45 minutes of my phone call the following day (Sunday) and did not charge a service fee (PAC's service fee would have been $99, which I would have been more than happy to pay if they would have come when scheduled).
Description of Work: I called and scheduled an appointment to check a leak in my kitchen ceiling. I was given a Saturday appointment (10PM - 2PM). At 2PM on the day of the scheduled appointment, I called the office after nobody showed up. I was told that I was not in the system and that there were no available plumbers to check my problem.

[removed member name] We appreciate your feedback and I would like to apologize that your experience with us was not ideal. Being a home owner myself I know how you feel since I have been put in the same predicament by a different service contractor in my own home. During the summer, glitches with our computer server put us through a lot of headaches and would intermittently put our dispatching system out of whack. We have since upgraded our computer server and have not had those problems since. I know this situation should have been avoided given we were aware of the glitch that intermittently gave us problems and we should have taken other steps over the weekend to ensure that glitch would not affect our dispatching. If you would give us a second chance we would like to make it up to you. Mention this Angie’s List review the next time you need service and we will make sure your service call will be above expectations. Thank you.

The cost of the furnace and A/C and the installation was $9,000. They were very good, they came on time when they were supposed to, and they did a good job. They cleaned up everything, in fact they didn't even take a lunch break, they didn't break for lunch to get the job done. I thought the price was reasonable. I went on the other day to look for them and they have coupons now, you get 10% off for their service so I think that's a good deal too, because when you're doing something like for $2,000.

I called to get a price on condenser coil on the OUTSIDE unit which I knew was covered under warrantee and explained this to Kenny Schneider. He proceeded to ask me where the unit was; I said in my yard. He said no the inside unit; I said in my basement but the leak is in the condenser; he said oh outside. Yes; that is what I stated. I stated I knew I would have to pay for labor in which he stated he never worked on Luxaire units before and said it would be $2500. I clearly knew this was picked out of a hat and indicated I can see you don't want to even do this job since you did not ask for any information like model and serial number. Very weird conversation took place; like I was in the twilight zone with him. Would NOT recommend this company.
Description of Work: The provided did not do anything. Was even unable to follow the conversation; seemed very distracted while on the phone.

The first step was to locate a reputable repair service from "Angie's List". We made an appointment and the plumber and his apprentice arrived on time. The agent readily shared his knowledge concerning our problem. He listened to what we'd been told by others and went about his own efficient evaluation. He searched the basement, kitchen and outside area. He tried to recreate the leak we were getting in the basement. Listening to our input he explained what would be involved in breaking the wall and we agreed to it. Once the back splash and back of the cabinet were removed the leak was accessible. He explained that a prior plumbing job was at fault. We chose to go with a temporary fix for now. I look forward to continuing my association with P.A.C.
Description of Work: A leak search in kitchen and basement. Diagnosis was that the leak was behind the back splash of kitchen counter. The cabinet had to be deconstructed to access the pipe. A temporary fix was applied until we could make arrangements to get financing for a permanent repair.

My water heater went in the middle of the night. I checked with 3 places and found prices ranged from $900 to $1150. I thought it was a little expensive but after checking with 3 places, I figured that must be the going rate. The girl who answered the phone at PAC was great and super friendly. PAC was at my door with a new water heater in 2 hours. The installation was smooth and the installers were friendly and courteous. They work cleanly and took the old heater away. Maybe they were a little expensive but the service was absolutely fantastic, so it was worth it to me. One thing to keep in mind when choosing a water heater - some sit directly on the floor, and others have "feet". Keep this in mind and be sure to ask, if your room gets water from time to time.
