Mike was a real professional. He knew his stuff and did not try to con us. His crew arrived when they were supposed to and worked for exactly the amount of time Mike had predicted. They did an excellent job and we expect to no longer have the problems we'd been having.

Mike was great: He was took his time with us, going out of his way looking in various nooks and crannies. Most impressive, he was not trying to sell us another product. He patiently explained how we could take steps ourselves. He also helped us think through the cost/benefit of various interventions, and was very willing to conclude that doing nothing was a good option. We recommend him highly.

After purchasing the deal for insulation, the company inspected our house and gave us a list of work items totaling over $11,000. We understand the vendor provided all possible items in an ideal scenario to make the house as energy efficient as possible, but from a customer's point of view it's so far from the "deal" that it's still a shock. We remained open minded and want to try their service with one item first, but the response we got was not positive. Deals should be easy to use and at least somewhat match with the deal description. In this case it's not. The company's response to the initial review suggested that we purchased the deal for insulation and opted not to do the work, which is simply not true and contrary to common sense. We bought the deal with intent to have the house better insulated, but were told by the company that it will not work for our house due to the roof/attic structure. Trying to make false statements in a reply is simply unprofessional.

The customer purchased an insulation deal and then decided not to insulate. There should be no shock when you decide not to purchase the offer item. Instead she wanted me to install a door and then seal the ducts of the air conditioning system, a measure we provide in conjunction with a project. This should have been done by her HVAC contractor originally but was not. When I was asked to do only the duct sealing (a small priced item) instead of the insulation or package of work, I responded that the items were not priced as "a la carte". The offer and deal was for insulation which was not opted for. That product is the main offer item and the special price was detailed out and would have been happily offered, I also presented a comprehensive list of measures to address all the house issues as it pertains to insulation and efficiency. They were also rejected. Apply for a refund of your purchase. Writing a "C" rating and review is completely off base and irresponsible.

Egg Energy arrived for the initial inspection on time. The initial inspection took over an hour and a written estimate was provided outlining our options. There was NO pressure at all. We then made our selection as to what work we wanted completed. Again, the Egg Energy team arrived on schedule and started insulating and barrier sealing some of our walls and floors. The work took one complete day. The team cleaned up after themselves and left us with a better sealed and insulated home. Egg also installed 19 energy efficient ceiling light through out the upper floors. We found Egg Energy very professional and caring about our needs and our satisfaction.

Overall my wife and I are pleased with the job. Mike and his crew are professionals, deliver quality work, and overall try to take care of all the issues that pop up along the way. But issues do pop up. For example, they didn't install the sliding door correctly and a piece cracked, then we had to wait a couple of weeks for the new part to be shipped and replaced. Additionally, the door opened on the wrong side then what we asked for. Mike promised us he would bring the siding down to a lower point on one wall but forgot to instruct his crew so they had to do it over. His gutter guy neglected to replace one of the leaders so he had to be called back to finish the job. His overall estimate was a week to a week and a half, and the job took over three weeks to complete. On one or two days, only one worker showed up and he worked alone. To be fair, when these issues were pointed out, Mike did everything he could to resolve them quickly. And, while Mike and his guys are very nice, and we feel he was more than fair with us, we would have liked him or his crew chief to inspect the work on a more regular basis and fix the problems before we noticed them. Despite these and some other issues, we would recommend Mike Gervasi and Egg Energy Systems.

Mike Gervasi, owner of Egg Energy Systems, was executed what I like to call the 3 "P s" of getting my money. He was Professional, Personable and Punctual. He put me at ease right away. He identified and assessed the issues, provided several avenues to resolve the siding failure and was upfront about cost and potential reasons for any increase in the amount stated. For example, if he were not able to find the exact color match, he may have had to have it made resulting in a significant increase in the overall cost. Luckily, he was able to find an almost exact match, so much so you cannot tell there was ever any damage done. Barring the color match it was a pretty cut and dry siding replacement. However, what made Mike Gervasi's service outstanding was what he did to keep the prices low. The majority of his work is in a town a considerable distance from my home. Instead of charging me for a separate job, he arranged for his staff to perform work on my home after working on another house. Further, he called me while on vacation to tell me of the arrangements. His staff was also punctual and professional, worked quickly and had my house looking brand in no time. To finish up the wonderful service, Mike Gervais was there within a half an hour of his staff completing the work to make sure all was well. I am writing to say, it is still well. If you are looking to have your house sided, you would be remiss not to give Egg Energy Systems a call. I have shared his information with several people I know and will continue to do so. Thank you Mike Gervasi and his staff for the wonderful service and Angie's List for this wonderful tool to keep my home looking brand new. Best, NL Newman Satisfied Egg Systems and Angie's List user.
Description of Work: During hurricane Sandy several portions of siding became loose, broke and fell off of my house. It made the house look terrible and made a horrible sound every time the wind blew. Mike Gervasi color matched and replaced approximately 100 ft. of siding on my house.

I left a message on the office machine and Mike returned my call the next business morning. I set up an appointment a few days later. Mike and co-worker, Rich, were on time and professional through out the meeting. They explained their product's benefit and how it would be applied. I had a few questions after the appointment and Mike was more than happy to answer them. I met with one other company, but didn't get the same service nor comfort level with them, so I chose EGG. The "energy auditing" business -in general- is on shaky grounds: there are no measurable, verifiable data available to prove the reduction of energy cost after having additional insulation. After consulting 3 companies to to advice on adding insulation in the attic and crawl space in our house, we decided on a more practical and cost-effective solution: take a handy man and add some material were it was obviously missing and needed. Egg Energy System (the name should tell you already: a thin, fragile layer of protection - insulation!) was punctual in coming, professional in appearance (notice the uniform and clapboard), but ultimately non-convincing. Despite spending 90 minutes of looking, measuring and talking, the estimate was ridiculously expensive. They suggested to seal almost every crack, seam and gap, wrap pipes and ducts, and add layers upon layers of mats over the existing material. It sounded thorough, but upon checking with our energy company, National Grid, the suggested over $9.000.00 expenses were in no relationship to a predictable energy bill reduction!
Description of Work: No services were performed due to dubious assumptions and exuberant pricing.

[member name removed] has obviously done his homework and knows much more about how to save energy and make his home more comfortable then we do. It is a shame that you felt it necessary to make fun of my company and it's name in such a condescending manner. We take great pride and making sure we are fair and concise in our offerings. The high price you refer to was for a 'whole home approach" and it was itemized. Let us know how the handy man project works out please. I would also suggest you speak with NYSERDA and LIPA and ask them why the offer rebates and incentives (which I offered you) to do an energy retrofit. Would they be spending money on something that does not work? Instead of insulting us why not ask for references from customers whose homes we have worked on and let them tell you how they feel? I guess you cannot make everyone happy. A simple no thank you would have worked. How many other reviews like this have you written about others?

I must admit that we hate doing anything remotely close to construction. But Egg Energy Systems certainly left a positive impression after all the work was done. They clean up after themselves very well and deserves acknowledgement on that account. As far as dealing with Egg Energy Systems, you deal directly with the owners. You don't find much of that these days so we were quite relieved when we realized that we would only deal with the owners. That was very important to us because any concerns that we did have they would address it immediately. In a world inhabited with unscrupulous car mechanics, crooked politicians, and so on, it is nice to know that there still exists people who still do business the old fashion way. We are extremely suspicious when we are seeking services and we have to spend a lot of money. Naturally, we felt the same when we first dealt with the guys at Egg. We probed them with all sorts of questions to see if they were the right people for what we were trying to do. After that first visit, we were left very impressed. Based on my own knowledge regarding windows installation and the different types, I was able to confirm immediately that these guys knew what they were talking about. There is nothing that I hate more than when people try to blow smoke up you know where. We always do research before we buy anything or seek services so that way we are well-informed before we talk to anyone. The Egg people nailed all of my questions and we were pretty much sold after that. The take away here is that the folks at Egg Energy Systems are a rare bunch. Extremely professional and will answer all of your questions to the best of their abilities. Of course, experiences will vary and of course different people will have different experiences and this review is based on my experience. These reviews are just aids to assist people in making the best decision possible. Read the reviews and if they conform to your expectations, then give the folks at Egg Energy a try.

Mike came to the house quickly and on time. He looked at the area from the outside, in the garage, in the attic, and the problematic rooms. He took measurements and pictures and said he would follow up with an estimate. Mike called a few days after he came to the house to explain how he would insulate the problem rooms. He suggested dense pack cellulose insulation in the garage ceiling (which had no insulation) and limited air sealing in the unfinished storage area. He could not provide a safe method of insulating the ceilings in the rooms (even if the drywall was removed). Granted this wasn't a simple layout to insulate, but there's a great deal of heat that radiates from the roof into the rooms. If he couldn't insulate under the roof, then we weren't going to be happy with the results. Mike did offer to call me back if he was able to come up with a solution for the ceiling after consulting with a mentor. The garage ceiling insulation was also more expensive than expected. I did not use Egg Energy because they couldn't provide a comprehensive solution.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate on retrofit insulation work for an existing second floor extension. I needed to get better insulation into a bedroom, closet, and bathroom that have always been cold in the winter and warm in the summer. The space is above a garage, includes an unfinished storage area, and has a problematic knee wall. It also has no attic access (think cathedral ceiling).

Company arrived on time, finished on time, kept a clean workplace, advised of the risks surrounding spray insulation. They were professional and courteous.
Description of Work: Hurricane Sandy took out the insulation in the crawlspace insulating the underside of the main floor. Egg Energy spray insulated the entire underside which they promised would not only insulate but waterproof it as well. Since our house is only a block from the Great South Bay in Lindenhurst, waterproofing was very important. We had the added benefit of making the house much warmer.

They were incredibly polite and professional over the phone, answering all my questions and addressing my concerns, so I felt comfortable hiring them for the audit. They spent several hours with me, giving my home a thorough inspection and answering my numerous, most likely tiresome questions. In the end, I had a very thorough understanding of the problem areas in my home, and they gave me a detailed plan of attack on how to deal with it, and explained all my options for how to pay for it. All the while, they were very polite and professional and took great care to leave my home as clean as they found it. While I have not yet decided which repairs I will be making, I will definitely hire the nice guys at Egg to complete them when the time comes.

The first thing I must highlight is EGG's Mike Gervasi and Rich DeMauro's on the dot punctuality. They got here at exactly the time we agreed that they would come. As soon as they came in, it was a proper introduction and right to the assessment of my current situation in regards to energy and draft coming in from different points throughout the house. They were very easy to talk to and I felt very much at ease with how they answered all of my questions and educating me on how to properly maintain a house free of extreme temperatures. After they did a thorough walk-through, they sat down with me and discussed issues that needs to be addressed and what services would address those issues. However, it is important to note that they ONLY make recommendations and I never felt like they were pressuring me into getting every service on their recommendation list. For me, when there is pressure in any kind of business deal, it is an automatic deal breaker. These guys in no way were intent on forcing me on any services. Big PLUS. Their knowledge was on point and were able to answer all of the questions I had. They were not rushing to leave and were very content in doing their job. Let's face it, these days when you get services from people, a lot of time the workers are unhappy and give attitude which I don't need if I am paying for a service. Mike and Rich exceeded my expectations and although I have yet decided on which services I will have them do for me, I definitely have decided that they will be the ones to doing it in the next month or so.

The complete energy audit included a careful visual inspection of the whole house (including partial basement, crawl space, garage and attic) and a blower door test to determine the house?s air leakage rate. During the blower door test all of the climate-controlled space was inspected to locate areas where air was leaking into the house. Fourteen major problem areas were identified and detailed recommendations were made for each of these areas. Each of the recommendations was priced separately. When the sum of the costs for these recommendations exceeded my budget, we worked together to come up with a plan that prioritized the problem areas. We then agreed on a scope of work that gave the best payback and stayed within my budget. EGG Energy handled all of the interfaces with NYSERDA and LIPA. They arranged for a LIPA inspection and got commitments for rebates before work began. Work included making a hole in the ceiling of a closet to get into an inaccessible attic. When this was done we found that our original plan was not practical so we agreed on the spot to a modified plan at no additional cost. Unforeseeable problems were also encountered in the basement and ceiling over the front entry. Again modifications to the plan were made on the spot to provide improved performance at no additional cost. During the job some other minor problems were discovered and addressed. The whole project was completed ahead of schedule and at below the quoted cost. Upon completion of the work the leakage rate was again tested and a thermal image gun was used to see the effectiveness of the work and to see other areas that we can address when the budget permits. During all phase of the project care was taken to avoid bringing in dirt and all work areas were cleaned when they were done. The result was a more energy efficient house with no change in appearance.

Received several estimates. EGG was not cheapest nor the most expensive, but they were extremely responsive, courteous and willing to do whatever it took to get my job done when I needed under difficult circumstances. I had a smalll time window to insulate (one day to be exact) before which my house was still "drying out" with Servpro dehumidifers etc. and after which sheet rock was going back in. Needless to say , the drying took a lot longer, and the sheetrock was not able to be pushed out otherwise, it would have meant waiting another week or two to get it done. This left a Saturday to get the inuslation done. Rich from EGG didn't bat an eyelash and re-work their (busy) schedule and made it happen for us. We had to spend the day out of the house when this was done, but by the afternoon they insulated the entire first floor, and we were ready for the sheet rock the next day. What a difference insulation made to the house. It's been a challlenge trying to continue living in the house since Hurricane Sandy with no heat and no insualtion on the first floor, but coming home that night, we felt something we haven't felt on that first floor since the storm . . . warmth! Not a trace of a draft running through the first floor. This was by far a tipping point toward getting things back to normal after an unbelieveable month of non-stop ripping out, cleaning up and surviving. Rich from EGG went above and beyond to work around our needs and our cordination among the different contractors helping with the rebuild. Thank you again. I'm looking forward to speaking with them again about an energy audit, after things get back to normal over here. Until then, I will highly recommend them to anyone that needs to re-insulate.

The job went very smoothy from my first contact with Mike, Richie and Charlie to the start of the job and through the completion. Egg delivered on all of its specifications , which was beyond the specs mentioned by five other contractors I interviewed for this work. I am completly satisfied with Egg and I would use them again. Their price was fair and they did more than other companies mentioned. yy
Description of Work: Installed dense pack cellulose insulation in ceiling of two car garage (below heated living space) Ron and Ramon first drilled plugs out of the sheet rocked garage ceiling to permit cellulose to be blown in to the spaces between the beams. Before they began this work they covered the entire space with plastic sheeting to keep the garage clean. EGG was the only company to specify that they would remove multiple plugs in each space to allow the certainty of complete filling of each space. They then reinstaled each plug and spackled over each one. It was a tedious and time consuming job but it was done with a high level of expertise. EGG also installed spray foam to ceiling of an unheated storage space (below heated living space) and reinstalled fibre glass batts. A flash and batt installation. All the work was carefully and expertly done and the area was cleaned at the conclusioin of the work.
