Gary was the best. He is punctual, patient, professional and 100% reliable. There was never an issue he couldn't resolve, even when dealing with a very difficult building inspector. After wishing for a front porch for more than 30 years, I looked for contractors on Angie?s List and found the perfect person to do the job ? Gary West. I couldn?t be more pleased with the quality of the construction and the positive change to the appearance of my house. Gary is a master craftsman in every respect, proud of his work and offering suggestions for finishing touches to the original plans that improved the project and were within budget. The finished porch changed and upgraded the look of my house (very visible from the street) in the best possible way. Gary was on-time, communicated about his daily plans, called me with questions and kept me informed about progress every step of the way. He recommended and coordinated the other subcontractors (roofer, electrician, mason, painter), all who were punctual and professional with their work. Gary?s suggestions for the sidewalk and improving the drainage around the project (working with the subcontractor) were the perfect finishing touches. The job was done on-time and within budget. Nevertheless, we found a modern day version of the Master Craftsman, Gary West of Colgar Enterprises. Gary recently completed work on a tricky renovation of a second bathroom. Our opinion of his work and of the person himself is simple: a gentleman, an expert at his craft, a contractor who is actually on time and leaves the work site spotless, and, just as important, his fee was more than reasonable and certainly competitive. No complaints whatsoever. Fair estimate with work done every day by Gary with help. Great final deck. Even came back next day to take care of some very minor blemishes (hardly noticeable) when asked. First time using him and would again without hesitation. Feel free to come and see deck.

We are very happy with the work Gary performed in installing our new range hood. First off, he was very punctual. Always arriving whenever he said he would to the minute. This showed us he was a man of his word and reliable. He was also very good at explaining the work he was going to do each step of the way. Even when there were a number of hiccups (not of his own doing, but previous contractor work), he explained what the issue was and how he intended to address the issue. We appreciated how he always kept us in the loop and in the decision making process. Once the job completed, he made sure everything was cleaned up so it was like he wasn't even there. We're definitely going to use him for any other work we have around the house in the future.

First, my deck looks great. 1. Gary West and the fellows that he works with showed up when they said they would. They started and completed the work when they said they would. 2. They are familiar with and helped with all the permits and certificates with the Town of Somers.. I mention this because other firms that we tried before we tried Colgar got hung up on the insurance and paperwork. 3. The work was completed for the estimated amount. 4. Gary West has excellent communication skills. He discusses options in a simplified way when necessary to make himself understood to laypersons. Finally, I want to state again that the deck looks great and it's as solid as a rock.

Contractor was timely, clean, excellent craftmenship

Simply put, Gary is the best. This is the fourth time that we've used Gary and his 'crew' (other contractors he partners with for electrical, plumbing and painting) and would not hesitate to use him again (although we're running out of projects). He advised us every step of the way, recommending options and being very patient when we made some changes. The project involved the following: Expanding the footprint of the kitchen Installation of custom kitchen cabinets (and recommending options on where to purchase) Expanding the footprint of the bathroom with new stand up shower New window in the kitchen Pass through between kitchen and living room Tile work in both bath and kitchen Moving a free standing cabinet 'island' (that we found wasn't so free standing) Installation of new flooring in dining room He and his fellow contractors were always punctual, professional and do top notch work. We're incredibly happy with the end result. The kitchen feels incredibly larger with much more natural light. The bathroom is a significant upgrade over the small tub that had been in there previously. He came back whenever we needed little tweaks here and there (due to modifications on our part or delays in materials we purchased). Anything I need done to the house in the future will ONLY be done by Gary and his recommended colleagues. I don't even put work out for bid anymore. Once you find a reliable, trustworthy professional who does incredible work why bother.

Gary West was the contractor who put together the team that took down my falling down porch and replaced it with a airy family room, connected to my kitchen. Gary is great to work with. Once he started the job, he came every day at 9 a.m. and worked through the day with his team to complete it. There were some issues that came up during the construction, and he was able to alter the plans to make the project top quality. he's a master craftsman, with a sense for what makes a building strong, and what looks good. He has an eye for detail, and a broader view for how the project fits in with the rest of the house. He's up front with changes that are needed. Home renovations always bring surprises that the architect may not have contemplated, and he is able to go with the flow to come up with solutions that work, from a structural standpoint, and also look good to the eye. His team includes several independent contractors - plumber, electrician, architect, mason, and painter - who also worked well with him on the project, which was completed on time.

It went well. I ran out of time building it myself and Gary got it done before winter set in.

Gary was responsive and reliable. Good work all around by him and those who worked with him. There were no suprises in the pricing or the timing.

Gary was punctual and professional. He gave me some great advice and things to consider before I made any decisions. I haven't made up my mind yet but Gray will definitely be considered for future work.

Gary and his team literally saved my life! Trustworthy and extremely reliable and very easy to work and get along with. His team came in when I had my back against the wall mid renovation and completed the entire job in a professional and rapid manner. The job included: Flooring, entire bathroom installation, kitchen carpentry work and installation,fantastic painting, interior and exterior. They never missed a day and always went far beyond expectations on every task. Gary's carpentry work and tile work and flooring and installation of pretty much everything was FIRST CLASS !!! This job would never have been completed with out Gary and his amazing crew I whole heartily recommend him for any job!

Finished product looks great and is structurally sound - we get lots of compliments. Work ultimately took longer than expected due to needing architectural drawings done and town permit delays due to inspector and staff being on vacation. All subs recommended did a very good job especially the mason. Was very considerate and conscious of safety as we have young children and wife was pregnant during much of the construction. Overall, while it wound up costing more than we initially though due to lack of footing and framing being more challenging, the work shows and we feel it was worth it. .

Gary and his team do quality work! Even before the work started, Gary took the time to come by the house a couple times to look everything over and answer all of our questions. He was always reachable by phone as well. Gary is committed to the project at hand - he gives his utmost attention and care, so you really feel you are getting the best service. He and his team were always punctual. They also cleaned up at the end of every day, which was great. Even when there minor changes in the construction plan that needed to be done (e.g., running lines around walls because they couldn't go directly), they did it without charging me an arm and a leg. Overall, we're really happy with the end result. The job was completed on time and within the budget we expected. We would definitely hire him again in the future!

Gary did a great job we are very pleased with the out come. The job moved along very quickly and he was very neat and clean. His pricing was very fair and left us with a kitchen we are extremely happy about. We were stressed out about having our kitchen up rooted but Gary really minimized the pain.

Due to weather he had to reschedule a few times but he was always upfront with us on the next time he could fit the door install into his schedule. He was very accurate with his pricing and the time to complete the job. He had to remove siding to fit the larger trim. The store we had order the door and locks from had ordered the wrong lock size. Gary fixed the problem by heading down to the store and picking up another lock size without even bothering us. He recommended other sub contractors for mason work and has followed up with us and the other contractor to make sure we are getting good pricing and timely response. I will be using him again for other projects

You simply cannot find a more reliable, trustworthy, and competent builder than Gary West. He came over on a Sunday, right after we left a message, and at the end of that same week he was able to find the time to rebuild the outside wall, put in a new window, and re-do the interior insulation and dry wall in two days. He also advised us about purchasing a new generator (the first one having been destroyed by the fire). He is just terrific and we are very grateful that we could count on him in this extreme situation. (It is also worth mentioning that he did this work at a price well below what we expected).

Gary came out to our residence to look at our project, and was very punctual to when he said he would come. He was not very open to meeting when I could meet him, but my wife was available. After meeting with my wife, he mentioned getting together with his architect and a general idea for rebuilding as it was. However he never return my calls or messages on Angie's List afterwards. I can understand the man is busy but he seemed overly cautious about not having his time wasted, all the while he has no issues with wasting ours. We never received an estimate, and no service was provided.

It went very well. Sadly, the hood was defective after it was installed; the manufacturer sent us a new one and Mr. West had to come back and install the new one! But he was very nice about it and yes, we would call him again should we need any work around our house.

He has really good marks on Angie's List; he had all "A's" from everybody who reviewed him and that is actually why I called him. We have not done the work yet, but it has nothing to do with him. He seems very nice and his quote seemed reasonable. He was very thorough and very quick to respond. He was very accurate, and he seemed to be very hardworking and willing to do the job. He was here exactly when he said he would be. He was very professional and had some great advice.

Fine. Job involved removal of old tile, replacement of sheetrock and installing new tile.

Gary is a true professional. He is not simply a yes man that will do anything you want, he will offer insight and alternatives that may be either more cost effective or just a better way of doing it. He and his team were done with the entire project in a little over a week. If you need paint work done on your project please request he use Robert, he is the most detailed oriented painter I have ever met. The did a fantastic job. The kitchen looks great and Gary went above and beyond to get everything just right. I would def suggest Gary and his crew to any friends and relatives and will certainly be using him again in the future.
