We hired Gary to rebuild and bring to code our front porch/stairs which he did in such a fast turnaround time that it still astounds me. He arrived in the early morning and worked intently until late afternoon. The finished product was beautiful. Gary appreciates aesthetic appeal and is mindful about customer cost. We already plan to book him in the fall for a bathroom remodel

Gary West (Colgar Enterprises) is the ultimate professional. We hired Gary for two bathroom remodels. His pricing was fair and his workmanship excellent. There were a couple of unforeseen issues during the demo which Gary handled without consequences. He is easy to work with and keeps the customer informed as the project progresses. We couldn't be more satisfied with his work and would/will hire Colgar Enterprises on all of our future projects. One more note, all of Gary's recommended sub contractors, were as reasonable and efficient as Gary. Highly recommend.

I asked Gary to do a renovation on our downstairs bathroom, which included adding a shower. As so often happens,between the time I spoke to Gary initially until the job start, I had thought of a few additional items. Gary took all of that in stride and adjusted his timeline to account for those changes. Gary works quickly and precisely. He communicated clearly on what he is doing for the day and what he'll be doing the next day. Gary did a quality job which we love and we're definitely going to use him again. Thanks Gary!!

gary renovated our basement after flooding damage. the job included: * replacement of sheetrock * taping/plastering * installation of engineered wood floor * repair/replacement of damaged moldings * painting he worked quickly, carefully, neatly, reliably and stayed within the agreed budget. both before and during the job he responded promptly to all inquiries. gary did a fine job. would hire him again.

Gary was excellent. He has deep knowledge, a keen eye for quality and pride of a job well done. He and his son came by everyday at 8 AM sharp and worked diligently without outside disturbances. He tells us his plans for the following day and keeps it. His work pace is superb and the workmanship is exquisite. He provided suggestions, because my bathroom had many unforeseen issues and he made sure he gave my wife and I good suggestions of how to do it right. His also coordinated with plumber, electrical, roofer (I had new skylights), insulators, dumpster person and the inspectors. Made it painless for us, especially since this was our first big remodel. We learnt so much from him that I will take to my next project as a home-owner. He always left the work area clean when he left, which made it easy to live while the work progressed. Highly recommend him and will work with him on future projects.

Gary did an excellent job as general contractor for a very large remodel project at our home. He built us a new deck, a full kitchen remodel, and a new half bath (converted an old pantry closet into a half bath). We are very happy with the work that was done. Our home now feels more open, bright, and completely updated. Gary was very dependable, honest, and offered many affordable solutions to best complete the project. Gary was knowledgeable , experienced, and well prepared and we had no delays or set backs throughout the entire project. Would highly recommend and do business with again for future projects.

Gary did an awesome job; exceeded my expectations. His price was a lot less than I thought it would be for the work done -- very reasonable and fair. The inside of the storage closet, which is over 40 years old, was so rotted out and the doors would no longer slide open. Not only did he reinforce the outside structure itself, on the inside he installed two shelves w/brackets on one side and made & installed a tool storage rack for rakes, shovels, garden equipment, etc. Perfect design which he suggested and never crossed my mind because I was not confident that the inside closet could look like new. I couldn't be more pleased with the work done!

Just had our deck replaced by Gary. His work was quick but meticulous. He is a perfectionist and very skilled. He was very dependable - showed up every day at the same time. Very easy to work with - honest, easygoing with a strong work ethic. Thrilled with the results and would recommend him without hesitation for other projects.

Gary did a great job. It's been 5 months since he completed his work and there have been no issues whatsoever. The tile work looks great. Gary would check in with me on a daily basis to give me updates on the project and kept the workspace clean throughout. I would definitely hire him again (and potentially will for another bathroom next year).

It went great. Gary and his son did all the work themselves and worked quickly as well. He recommended the TimberTech Pro (AZEK) material for the deck boards and railings and I'm glad I went with it. They were very professional and even my father-in-law (who was in the construction trades) was impressed with their carpentry. I would definitely hire them again for another remodel project.

Would absolutely recommend Gary for any and all home repairs. We had a mitigation company leave us hanging with the agreed upon repairs, which included a third of the kitchen floor, cabinet toe kicks, and some of the basement ceiling. Gary came over in the afternoon and we had an estimate the very next morning. He was honest about his availability and didn't give us the run around, his prices were also very affordable. Not only did we have a good feeling, we knew we were making the right choice. He arrived on time and along with his son, got to work right away. When we realized we had purchased the wrong kind of floor, he was not only accommodating on when he could possibly return, but went ahead and drove to the Home Depot that had the right kind of floor in stock. The work areas were left clean, and my home is back to normal a mere 2 days after contacting him. We found someone that does good, honest work, and we will definitely be using his services going forward for anything we need repaired or updated around the house.

Gary was very responsive when we contacted him about re-doing the stairs to our deck. He removed the old stairs which were pretty rotted, and built the new stairs using pressure-treated lumber. We were impressed that he finished the job in 1 day given that the stairs were old and in an odd configuration. He is extremely knowledgeable and did a fantastic, quality job although it would have been helpful if he would have carted the old wood away instead of leaving it. It was bagged and neatly piled, so no big deal for us. Gary also gave us some very good feedback on the deck itself, which eventually needs to be replaced. We were already aware of this but it was good to get confirmation on our assessment from someone as experienced as Gary. We did get lower estimates for this job, but we went with Gary because of the great communication and his significant knowledge of architecture and construction.

I had an excellent experience working with Gary and his son, as they exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Gary and his team, and look forward to working with him on future home improvement projects. He is hard working, professional, and straight forward. Any concerns that popped up were discussed right away and Gary would always present options for me to decide upon. I appreciated his opinion since he is clearly experienced and knows what options would work in each situation. He was good at solving problems that arose (issues with architect plans, etc) and always maintained his composure. He was also very mindful of my budget and would present me with various options, never pressuring me to decide either way. He went above and beyond, whether it was helping me choose tile and appliances, or advice about concerns around the house that was of no gain to him. Gary was always in communication with me about what would occur each day, recap at the end of the day, and if any concerns popped up during the day he would always call to discuss. He was always punctual, started early in the morning and stayed late when needed. This renovation had a lot of components involved... full bathroom, egress window, playroom, family room, laundry, mechanical room, etc. For a homeowner this could all be a very stressful process, but Gary made everything flow easily and made me feel at ease that everything would turn out well. He exceeded my expectations at every turn. I’m thrilled with the outcome of my basement as it has been transformed from a dingy space to a warm inviting family area. He is detail oriented and the quality of his work is excellent. Everyone Gary recommended (plumber, painter, etc) were also wonderful to work with, easy going and professional. He is reasonably priced compared to many other contractors that bid on the project. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for a project, he’s the best!

I couldn't be more happy with Gary and his son's work! The very first thing I look for in any business relationship is prompt communication. We got this in spades. Gary presented a very fair bid and recommended an architect Jan Asong who we were quite pleased with. We had to get a zoning variance and Gary and Jan kept in close contact with us throughout the whole process. The final product is beautiful! Fine craftsmanship yet took it seems no time at all. As I have joked with neighbors... if we get hit my a hurricane.. the deck will hold up the house. I strongly recommend Colgar Enterprises. A small crew of passionate artists. I will be using them again very soon.

Gary did a beautiful job building us a new deck and repairing other external areas of our house that had dry-rot. He is a very talented contractor, and he brings his skills and creativity to solving problems in ways that minimize expenses and maximize quality. We would trust him with any indoor or outdoor building project, large or small, and we know the finished product will be expertly built and a work of art.

It was an excellent job. Gary came on time and did what he said he's do. He was very prompt and did his work quickly, and was a pleasure to work with. He arranged for a plumber, electrician and painter, and all were also punctual, very pleasant and did high quality work. We definitely recommend him.

Gary was great! He returned our initial phone call within a day and he was helpful from the earliest stages of our shower removal project, taking the time to answer all of our questions, and making recommendations when asked. He was very punctual each time he came to our house, and was considerate in cleaning up after himself. The work he did was great, our new shower and tiles look great. His price was more than reasonable, he stayed on budget, and he finished on time. We would definitely hire him again and would highly recommend.

Gary and his son exceed our expectations. I had already met with a number of contractors before coming across Colgar Enterprises on Angie’s List. After my husband met with Gary, we didn’t need to look any further. Gary and his son do all the work themselves and dedicate themselves to a project from beginning to end. He is a true craftsman in every sense of the word. He even creating beautiful custom moldings for our windows and doors that matched the style of our house when most moldings available were traditional in style. His price is very reasonable and appreciated the fact that he also communicates clearly and is very personable. We felt comfortable approaching Gary with any suggestions that we had. Our project didn’t start until the wintertime due to delays with our permit. It was a tough winter with multiple Nor’easters, but Gary and his son were tougher. They would even show up after a snowstorm and work on anything that was possible. As the photos attached show, the addition is on the second story of the house though we chose not to build out the first level below it. There were some serious heights to contend with, but they were very careful. The finished room is more stunning than I imagined it would be. It was all in the details. Gary is uncompromising in the materials that he uses. He has picked through numerous pieces of lumber so he could use only the best pieces on our project. He advised us to use Azek to trim our windows on the outside, in order to save money in the long run. He is cost-conscious and let us know when it was better to repair vs. replace. Additional new windows that Gary and his son replaced around our house are beautifully installed. He even fixed a difficult window that we weren’t ready to replace! I thought we would have to replace all of the cedar siding on the back of our house (as one siding company had suggested), but with decades of experience behind him and careful inspection, Gary found that only certain pieces of cedar needed to be replaced. I had dodged a major bill. We are using his electricians to help us complete the project and so far their work has been excellent. Gary had just finished his portion of the project last week. Though we are in the middle of the exterior paint project that one of his painters is taking care of, I didn’t want to wait to share my experience with anyone looking for a general contractor. Gary and his son made the whole process so much easier than we expected. We are grateful that we found Gary through Angie’s List. Thank you! Gary and his son are wonderful. They did beautiful work. All the projects came out great!!! They were professional, punctual and I can’t say enough about how great their workmanship is. We will only use them in the future for anything we need done in our home.

Another outstanding job by Gary from Colgar! He replaced our badly damaged deck in 1 week - stuck to quoted timeline and $$ quote. Always punctual and cleans up each day. Handled all permit requirements as well. Would recommend.
