We turned off the pilot light in June and it wouldn't start again. The fireplace was cleaned and checked out, and they were able to get it started again. However, I opted out of a repair since I was not going to save any money by having the repair done the same day and since the fireplace was not in immediate need of the repair. I found it incredible that the company was going to charge me the fee for coming to the house even though the technicians were already there.

We have a newer airtight home with a HUGE fireplace. There was never enough draft to keep the smoke from backing up into our house. So while the fireplace was beautiful, it was unusable. In the fall of 2013, I called Northeastern Masonry & Chimney Services to give us a recommendation on fixing our problem. They came promptly and said we would need to install a fan at the top of the chimney to increase the flow of air up the chimney. This is a seasonal home, so we were not going to be here throughout the winter, so we agreed to take care of this the following Spring. We called again when we returned in the Spring and they ordered the fan, which took longer than we expected to get. A date in June was set up to install the fan and we rented a lift for one week so they could access the tall chimney. The men never came the scheduled day nor the whole week that we paid for the lift. When the fan did come in, it was the wrong size. Finally, the men did install the fan (they had to carry it up a ladder since the lift had to be returned - I was terrified they would fall). Now it is the Fall of 2014, and we have finally lit our fireplace and the fan works beautifully. So, all in all, the fan is a success but the process was a little aggravating. All the people we dealt with were pleasant enough, though.

Phone contacts with office were all pleasant and efficient. Installers arrived on time and completed the work in a professional manner.

Starting with the estimate done by Jon, it has been an excellent experience. Jon came and did a thorough examination of the chimney and put together a fair and honest estimate for the work. The appointment was scheduled shortly after estimate. The time frame for arrival was between 8-9. Will and Pat arrived at 8:45, well within the identified time frame, and got to work right away. The were pleasant and professional, and willing to answer all (I had many) of my questions. The work took several hours as expected, and when it was done Will and Pat cleaned up the entire area, both in the house and outside. The repair work looks great, neat and professional. The boiler is running better than ever with the new liner. I would highly recommend them for any chimney work that needs to be done.

John was prompt, effective and efficient. Answered all questions and explained what he was doing. Was very pleasant. Did a great job in very little time.

I had an additional coupon that the provider would not accept so I did not end up using the deal.

DJ and Mark called at 9:15AM to tell me they were running a bit late, but would be there as close to 10 as possible. I appreciated the call. My window was 8AM to 10AM. They arrived around 10:10, worked efficiently, finished by 11. Cost was as estimated, a lot. Same as other companies I called.

John was punctual, addressed the cleanup and cleaned up after his work - important, as we have a very tall chimney pip stack which is difficult to clean.

They arrived when they said they would and got right to work. They were friendly and courteous to my family while ensuring that the work was done safely and without making a mess in our home. We discussed fireplace safety with my son and options for potentially installing inserts for increased efficiency without unwanted sales pressure. Last year we had them replace our aged and broken flu as well as cleaning and repairing the chimney. We are very happy with their work and won't hesitate to recommend them to others.

They were on time, called ahead, were nice workers and did an excellent job. Cleaned up everything.

l had Northeastern Masonry and Chimney install a M-Flex Chimney liner and repoint my chimney on 7/1/14. The Chimney liner was not up to building code after installation. The chimney repointing started cracking the next day. Joe Shear [the owner] came and looked at the work and said I couldn't find a better job. He said he would send his crew to fix the repointing. Meanwhile I had two chimney companys come and check Northeastern's work. First company said galvanized smoke pipe was installed improperly. Second company came and did an inspection what was wrong with the work performed and sent me a letter Stating: The UL listing of the M Flex chimney liner requires the thimble that extends from the tee either extend through a clay thimble or be made of stainless steel. The use of galvanized pipe is unsafe and can leak toxic fumes into the core of the foundation blocks. This is especially a concern in your case as the top course isn't a solid termite block. This is a serious safety and fire hazard. The Tee snout needs to be extended into the living space at which point the galvanized smoke pipe can be secured. Needless to say when Northeastern's office called to confirm when their crew would be there to fix the pointing of the chimney I told her to forget it, as the job had not been completed according to building code.

Showed up exactly when they said. Very down to business and did exactly what they said they would do. First class job at which 2 others had failed on. Reccommend without hesitation.

Serviceman was professional and thorough. Appointment made quickly and kept.

Bill, our Service Technician, arrived at the front end of a two hour window which is always nice. I mentioned a problem with the fireplace we have been experiencing and he went right to work trying to find a solution, even though it was outside the scope of what he was there to do - inspect and clean. Bill cleaned the fireplace, but was unable to fix the issue. He did however take it upon himself to say he would research the issue when he got back to the office and would be in touch if he found anything. Overall, I was very pleased with the service I received from Northeastern Masonry & Chimney and in particular, Bill. I recommend them and will certainly call again.

All work was completed in one day. Good cleanup. Looks nice.

Great. Third time – speedy, on-time arrival, tidy, good clean-up, experience workman (Justin). Already set up for the next year.

AT THIS POINT CONSIDERING THEIR APPARENT LACK OF INTEREST, I HAVE TO ASSUME THEY DON'T DO WHAT I NEED DONE.

The installers showed up within the scheduled time frame were polite. Prepped the area for the work by covering the area with cloths. They then removed the old fireplace insert being careful to keep the debris on the covering. They cleaned the area and then installed the new insert. They were very careful at the end to cleanup the area. They also went over safety and cleaning the new fireplace insert.

Service was excellent, the servicemen were professional, courteous and took the time to explain what was going on. they were a pleasure to work with.

They gave me quote on replacing my chimney. They were lovely, but they couldn’t provide the service I bought the deal for. It wasn’t clear from the deal that they only do certain types of masonry work. They, in person, were very clear with me that they couldn’t do the type of work we needed. They were nice, personable, and informational. They got the quote to us quickly and were all-around professional. I would seriously consider using them if I wanted to go with their suggested work.

NorthEastern rebuilt my fireplace and chimney after a chimney fire and never parged the smoke chamber. After lighting the first fire in my fireplace after they rebuilt my fireplace my house caught fire and caused $26,000 worth of damage and I barely escaped with my life. My homeowners subrogated the claim and Northeastern was found to be negligent and was forced to re-pay my insurance company in excess of $24,000. The owner, Joe Shear, never once reached out to me to apologize. I am posting this review today because I just received an unsolicited sales pitch for them to come clean my chimney. Absolutely shameless...do not use this provider if you cherish your home and family.

Pat and Paul arrived on time. They were very nice and answered all questions. they were very knowledgeable and their work was superior.
