Mr. Bergen came to look at the chimney, gave an estimate, and set up a date 8/2014 to do the work. On the date of repair no one came or called, or left a message by phone.

I called up a few days before I wanted the service to be done. he said he could be there 2 days later. he promised a time which was fine. they arrived 1/2 hour early, which was even better. they cleaned the chimney & even swept up our front porch. I am very satisfied with the service & hospitality for which we were greeted with. will use them again next year...

Doug did a fantastic job repairing our chimney, but he fell through when it came to flue repair. He took our damper to see if he could repair it first, before replacing. Hubby and I thought that was great! Then we never heard from him again - no returned phone calls (the phone has been disconnected) and no return emails. I even searched for an obituary before writing him up! I've contacted a new service who will replace from scratch. I'm out the cost of the damper only. I'm more upset by the lack of communication and how everything was handled.

Wasps had made a nest in the air intake to our fireplace. After we were sure the nest wasn't active we had to have someone assess how much damage was done; and there was considerable damage. Doug took care of this for us in a prompt and professional manner. Siding had to be removed, new piping put in, etc. It was all taken care of quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. We will use Doug again in the future.

Crew was prompt and courteous. Results of inspection were clearly explained as was the process for replacing the metal chimney cap. This work was completed at a subsequent date as promised.

Doug and his team have always done our yearly chimney sweep, so when it was time to have some repair work done on our chimney, there was no need to call any one else. Doug's work has been excellent.I would highly recommend him.

Before starting, Doug explained his recommendations and an estimated price. They did the work efficiently but took time to double-check and triple-check. Doug noticed that we had no CO2 monitor in the cellar, so he bought and installed one. The bill was slightly lower than the estimate.

Doug and his guy Matt were wonderful. Quick to communicate, respectful of our home and property, good listeners, and creative problem solving. We have an old 1870s farmhouse and the chimneys were crumbling. One chimney is unusual and is on the front of the house. It is a feature, and we could not afford to rebuild the entire thing from the ground up. This meant that we were concerned about a Frankenstein chimney with old brick on bottom and new brick on the top. Doug listened to our concerns and was able to pick through all the old brick and find enough to out old on the front, where it is seen, and out new brick on the back where you don't see, so there is no issue with matching! Additionally, we live in an area with a lot of weekenders and we wanted our chimney to look as fancy as theirs do - doug took a drive through our town and came up with a design that was styled after one of the nicest homes in the area. Doug also took the time to talk to us about the drafting problem we had this winter in the woodstove. Though we have talked to 3 separate companies about the problem when we've had it cleaned, Doug gave us info that no one else had, and I'm hopeful it will solve the problem for good.

Very prompt return of phone call requesting an estimate. Came up same day to examine the problem and estimate the cost to repair. Returned the next day to tear down old chimney and reinstall with correct flashing, boot, and sealant to resolve leaking problem. All work was done very professionally and within estimated cost. Definitely would recommend to others based on responsiveness, professionalism, and quality of work.

We haven't had a severe storm with lots of rain since they finished the work, but they seem to have fixed a persistent leak that three other roofers couldn't.

In 2008 we needed a new roof and decided to get a new chimney at the same time. The roofer suggested Doug for the chimney as he had worked with him before. This could not have been a better recommendation. The job was beautifully done and well coordinated with the roofer's work. A year later we had a fireplace insert installed for which we needed a new liner in the chimney. The obvious choice for that job was Doug, because we knew we could rely on him and the perfect quality of his work. Ever since he comes back every year to clean the chimney. Last December we had an emergency, and Doug responded instantly. It turned out to be not an emergency at all, but knowing you have a reliable person on hand gives you a lot of peace of mind. Regarding Doug's pricing I cannot say much as for none of the jobs done by him we had other offers, but I suppose they are within a reasonable range. In any case Doug's work is worth every penny, and we can highly recommend him.

Work was totally satisfactory. The representative was on time, the job was done quickly and cleanly, and the explanation of what was performed was clear and complete. Would certainly recommend - and use - this service again.

They were really good. We're going to get them back to do more work. We had other people come and clean the chimney but they didn't do anywhere near complete job as these guys did. They gave us estimates to do some more work that we're going to have done. They really did clean the chimney and other people really hadn't done much. They cleaned one chimney for free. They cleaned everything, they didn't leave any ashes.

Doug and his crew came when they said they would, did what they said they would do, and charged what they said they would charge. Work was done neatly, and professionally. If the occasion arises, I will use this company again.

We are buying a new home and needed to have a chimney inspection done. I called and left a message and was called back within an hour. He explained the difference between a Level 1 and Level 2 inspection. Since this provider doesn't do Level 2, which is what we wanted, he referred me to someone who does.

I contacted Doug in June 2013 and asked him to inspect the fireplace and chimney at my rental property. He showed up on time on the day of the fireplace inspection. He inspected the fireplace and flue thoroughly and gave me some good information regarding its construction. At that time, he also gave me an estimate for rebuilding the chimney, which was leaning, and did not have proper flashing, etc. I decided to have him do the work, but I had to reschedule one time. He was very accommodating about the rescheduling. When the time came, he showed up on time and seemed to do an excellent job. The chimney is no longer leaning, but I won't know if the leak is fixed until the spring, after the first thaw. He promised to come back in the spring 2014 if the leak was not fixed. He seems completely trustworthy, and I feel confident he will do as he promised. His price was about 10% higher than other estimates I received, but he deducted the price of the inspection from the final total, so in the end, that put him about even with the other estimates.

The service was terrific. Doug was a polite, nice man. He returned my initial call the same day I called hiim. He came to the house to look at the job when he said he would., and because the job was, apparently, relatively straight forward and gave him no major problems, he fixed the damper the very day he came to determine what needed to be done. Sometime in the future I plan to install gas burning logs and will definitely call him to do the job.

He responded quickly to our initial telephone message to provide the estimate, and then set a date shortly thereafter for service. The initial date was postponed (only by one business day) due to weather. He cleaned up thoroughly after the day of service, and protected the new work with plastic wrap until the mortar set.
