The service was good and I would recommend it to make sure your unit is runnung smoothly. Now, I did not purchase this via Angie's List as Deep Freeze had their own special going on for $5 less. The $95 Angie's List Deal is good; the $90 Deep Freeze is a little better. It was a very busy day, and there was a ton of traffic, all I knew was that I was on the after 5pm list of appointments. They called me to let me know that it would be a few hours after 5 and wanted to be sure that was ok. They also called prior to coming by to make sure the that it was still ok...they arrived at 8pm. So that is their biggest strike, but I understand it is a Friday on Long Island in the summer...traffic galore. They arrived at the house and once technician worked on the central air unit itself while the other technician inspected the air ducts. After running a diagnostic on the machine, I was told that they needed to add coolant, which they quoted me for and I agreed (hence why my price is higher than the advertisement). After they finished, they made sure the house was cooling off properly, showed me some tips on using my thermostat.

Once again, I am blown away with the competence, professionalism, and honesty of Anthony & Deep Freeze Refrigeration. When my upstairs A/C unit would not go on, I called Deep Freeze. It was during the first hot spell, but his staff and he responded quickly. I was prepared for a major repair; yet Anthony traced the source to a faulty circuit breaker which wasn't delivering enough power to allow the A/C to operate. I've recommended this company to others, and all are impressed and well pleased. Thanks, again to Angie's List .

Anthony and Pat arrived within the given time period. They went right to work, diagnosed the problem. Checked both units and did appropriate maintenance. One unit needed a capacitor (?). Unfortunately that cost $300.00. But it appears that that is what it needed to function. My ac units are working well. Very good service, I would not hesitate to use them again.

Initial service was okay. Everything was professional. Only charged me $100 for first visit. The big problem was that they came back 2 additional times to diagnose the problem that I had already diagnosed for him in the first visit. (The spark box was not functioning) . Created a small flood during the first visit. He did try to clean up some of it, but I found myself having to clean up after the cleanup. I wasn't here for the 2nd or 3rd visits, so I cannot say for sure how they went, or what work was provided, All I know is that my problem did not get solved & the boiler was still not working.

There is no way that you could have diagnosed this problem without any technical background and the problem with the spark box only presented on the second service call which you were not home for. As far as the "flood" you said not to worry although we cleaned it up as best as possible. This is merely a ploy for you to not pay for this service which is extremely overdue although you did ask for an itemized bill without ever expressing any dissatisfaction.

He came on a very cold day and stayed late because there was a problem with the furnace board. Driving to the City at 5:00 the next morning during a snow storm he returned the next day, with a new board and spent some time on the phone with the manufacturer trying to find the problem with the board. Finally success! He never gave up no matter what in order to get the job done right and satisfy the customer. He respected my wishes and cleaned up after the job was done. I was completely satisfied with his work and diligence. I would have no doubts about calling him if there were a problem in the future nor would I hesitate to have him do any work for me.
Description of Work: Replaced an OLD gas furnace. Used some existing duct, and replaced other duct. Changed the gas line configuration and checked the entire system to make sure it met the current building code, safety, and the provider's high standards. Tony was thorough and checked everything especially since it was such an old system.

Anthony came and worked on the heater which was working only on the first floor, not the second floor, then it was not working again the following day. He initially told me that an aqua-stat and a valve needed to be replaced if his initial repair attempt did not work. Whenever I asked for the estimate about the next job, the prices kept going up, which made me very uneasy. He gave me an appointment 9 days later to come back to fix the problem (in December!). He won't give me any warranty either. I decided to do comparisons with another company from Angie's list, who came immediately to give a free estimate. They identified the same issue and came back to work on it immediately. When that did not work, they came immediately to inspect the problem again, gave me credit from the original repair expenses toward the next work they would do. They gave me a warranty too. I am very unhappy with Deep Freeze compared to the job the other company did. Below I am replying to the provider response dated 03/07/15 I purchased the house nine years ago and did some repairs on the boiler. Since then it was working perfectly for several years so how could I know what was going on unless an expert tells me? This is a great example of why you need to put everything (invoice, etc.) in writing.

You failed to state that your boiler was over 30 years old and therefore would not be possible to warranty any repairs. You were quoted a flat price and you kept trying to negotiate it. I made it clear that if replacing the parts didn't resolve your problem that it was in your best interest to replace the boiler.

For me, really the 95 dollar deal was a diagnostic to find the bigger problem why the thermostat registered "heat on" in my tenant's apartment but with no heat coming. I believe it was the owner who came with his son. The owner was able to quickly diagnose the controller issue. But what I liked first is he tried to just tighten screws first and didn't try to immediately sell me the big job that I eventually HAD to get. Also he seems like he's been doing this since birth as he could've probably figured out the problem in his sleep--he was that quick and confident. Because of this, I was worried about him being completely correct. But after several weeks of consistent heat, I think he's just that experienced. Other things I liked: he really worked me into my schedule over a busy holiday week. Even though I was shocked at first at the controller price of 250, I looked it up online and it seemed quite close to a wholesale price.
Description of Work: After the 95 dollar deal, he and his son replaced the controller and a few other parts. What added to the cost (probably 300) was he had to remove pipes from my water heater to get to the controller.

The tune-up was more like a 3 point tune-up primarily focused on replacing the filter. I kept referring back to the ad to encourage them to complete more of the 20 points but ultimately gave up. I assume this service is just intended to seek out problems/additional work.

It went excellently. They were punctual, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. They are our home's HVAC company for sure. They provided as stated, they arrived within the time they stated and they were friendly too.

He saw that my thermostat was not wired correctly, so he rewired it . That shows knowledge! Yes my air conditioner works, but I thought it was expensive. I paid the $95.00 for the 20 point inspection. He put freon in the air condtioner, and rewired the thermostat, and we had to pay an additional $500 for that. I think that was expensive. The unit did not work two days after he fixed it. When I called, he called right back. But I got it to work, so he did not come back again. I have had no problems since, because it has been on all summer so far. I am actually worried to turn it off.

We called this provider for a service estimate for our A/C that was not working. The provider stated that he was busy, but the owner came on the phone and said he would come out himself at an agreed date/time to assess the problem and give an estimate. The next morning we tried the A/C again, and for some unknown reason it began to work. We called the provider and spoke to the owner, and he said no problem, call back if needed and he would be happy to come out ASAP. Very kind and professional - great!

It went great. Tony is very reliable. He came when he said he would come, He explained the various options I had on 2 occassions. And he called when he was running a bit late on his prior job that day. I am very happy and would definitely recommend and use Deep Freeze again.

Purchased a coupon on Angie's List for a checkup of 3 units for $189. Prior to purchase, I called and was told that because I only had 2 units, they would "do something for me" when they showed up. Was told that the technician would arrive between 1 pm and 6 pm. At 6:05 pm, as I'm trying to feed my toddler dinner, an older gentleman, out of breath, sweaty and clearly exhausted showed up seemingly annoyed and put out. He took a look at the units outside but refused to look at the interior parts of the units, saying "I'm not doing that now" and "I'm not going up there today." Those parts of the units play a major role in the air conditioning system and are supposed to be included--the whole reason we bought the inspection coupon! I refused to demand that an elderly man, who really did not seem physically up to the task, do the work then and there. Aside from arguing with someone in front of my child at a time of day when my child needed my attention, the guy seemed like he literally might keel over. He quoted me for some additional work I *supposedly* needed, but as soon as he left I called Deep Freeze and demanded that they either return the money I paid for the coupon, or at some point in the future, reschedule with a different tech for an appointment first thing in the morning. I made it clear that I did not care how long it took to get a new appointment, but I did not want to take off of work AGAIN and sit around the house ALL DAY LONG for a guy that might not show up, or might show up too tired to do anything! So here we are, rescheduled for over a week later, and they are a no show. When I called to find out what was going on, the receptionist repeatedly interrupted me over and over and over. I never raised my voice and just asked her when it would be my turn to speak. She never allowed me to talk for more than 2 seconds uninterrupted and told me that she couldn't talk to me because she "had other people calling" and there were "Senior citizens without any a/c." All I was trying to do was find out when the tech was supposed to come, or if he was coming at all. She hung up on me. Then, I get a ranting message on my voicemail from the original tech (from a private number--shady!) yelling at me that I had "better not yell" at the receptionist and I needed to calm down. I never never raised my voice--just wanted a chance to be heard which was obviously too much for the receptionist to handle. Still no sign of the tech who was supposed to be at the house an hour and a half ago so I called and cancelled. Will be disputing the charges for the coupon with Angies List, paypal and my credit card co. I would not trust this company or ever use them again.

The so called "elderly" man that came to the house is our lead technician with more than 30 years of experience. If he appeared "sweaty and exhausted" it was only because he had done several service calls on a blistering hot day prior to this one. Based on his knowledge and experience, he chose to check the outside unit first before going up in the attic which was like an inferno at that time of day. We have no problem going in the attic if it is necessary. The customer does not dictate how we perform our service. Customer was informed of what needed to be done and told that (2) men would be back to do the complete check-up. Although we try to keep appointments within a specific time frame, emergencies do arise causing things to get a little backed up. Customer was called and told that the techs were running late but on the way. At that point she went into a rage and became verbally abusive toward the receptionist, cancelled the appointment and demanded a refund. This member's comments are rude and insulting and her attitude toward the technician is completely discriminating based simply on his age. We pride ourselves on both our technical and office staff who are all extremely professional. A customer with this negative attitude is surely no loss.

I called Deep Freeze Refrigeration on 6/17/14 after realizing I chose July instead of June for service dates. I spoke to Denise about change of dates then later about an AC PROBLEM. She said to call on the 18th at 5:35pm which I did and got voice mail. I asked her to call me Thursday June 19 on my cell phone and got no call. Due to a communication breakdown I decided to cancel the big deal.

I called Deep Freeze and set up and appointment to get an estimate on installing a new split unit system. The scheduler said a person would come to provide an estimate from the hours of 3pm-6pm. I took the second part of my day off from work and waited for a representative. I get a call from them at 6:36pm informing me that they will not be able to make it on the scheduled day. The person asked if we can reschedule and I was hesitant at first then I reluctantly agreed. She said someone can come on Saturday and I asked for the time. She again gave me a range between 9am to 12pm. At this point I was upset because after missing the original appointment time one would think they would be sensitive to what happened. Instead of making up for it by saying we can be there at a specific time I was once again given a time range to wait for a Deep Freeze representative. I opted not to schedule another appointment with Deep Freeze.
