Called 3 companies for estimates last week, One of them (Deep Freeze) was supposed to come between 9 and 1pm but did not call to confirm the visit (as the other vendor did) and did not show up either. Not the end of the world you might say, but if I have to choose between the company that shows up and the one one that doesn't, guess which one I'm choosing...

Central A/C stopped working so I decided to check Angie's List to see who to call. Deep Freeze came up with great reviews, so I gave it a shot. I called and spoke to a woman who sounded very nice, and took my info. Given the fact that the A/C has been out for a few days, I really couldn't wait too much longer to get it looked at. She offered an appointment for 2 days from now. I asked if there was any way to get an earlier appointment, and she offered to have "Tony" come out the next evening. Sounded great. I rearranged my work schedule, which is not easy for me to accomplish, to make it in time,. She asked for my contact number, and I gave her my cell number, explaining that this is the best way to reach me and its the only phone I use. She took the number, then insisted on having a house phone number "just in case". I told her there is no point since we don't use it. She still insisted saying it's just to have as a back up, in case. I reluctantly gave it to her. She says Tony will call you on your cell tomorrow to confirm. Next day comes, I never hear anything from Tony, and my wife and I take off early from our jobs and rush home. No Tony. No phone call. I call Deep Freeze and the woman says "We called you, but no one was there." I told her that is impossible, as I use my phone for work & it's with me at all times, and I didn't receive any call from him. She says "He called your cell" and proceeds to give me the number he called. It was the house number. I told her I repeatedly emphasized to her that we don't use that number, and that she got it wrong....that's not my cell number. She then says "well, he called your other number, too." I said "And what number did he call?" She proceeds to give me the wrong number for my cell. It's not my number. I told her that is not my cell phone number. She gives me a back-handed apology, saying she's sorry but they did call me. Yeah, on the number I told her I don't use. And on a cell number that doesn't belong to me. She tells me he will come the next night, and will definitely call this time before coming. I work a minor miracle and manage to leave work early. While in the car on the LIE, she calls and says he can't make it, he wants to reschedule for 2 days from now. Now I have no A/C, no service, and absolutely no respect from this obviously unprofessional train wreck of a company. People work long hours and change their schedules to come home and meet someone who commits to a time and date. It's called being professional. Tony and his staff clearly are not a professional operation, and don't have their act together. They lost a potential life long customer. I have numerous colleagues who recently purchased homes and are looking for a central A/C service. You can bet I will NOT be recommending Deep Freeze.

I would like to respond by stating some facts that were left out. The first is that we had a scheduled appointment between 6-9pm and when I called at 6:10pm I got a voicemail and left a message. Later on, around 8:00pm [member name removed] called saying she was sorry she missed us and could we reschedule for the following day (so much for them rushing home from work). They were supposed to be home between 6-9pm. Unfortunately on the next day that we were supposed to go there was a torrential rainstorm with thunder and lightning and everybody knows that it's extremely dangerous to work with electricity in the rain - even DOCTOR Revere should have realized this. He failed to say that we didn't keep the appointment due to the weather. Nobody knows more about working long hours as much as we do and we try to accomodate our customers seven days a week. We take pride in running a professional service company treating all of our customers with respect and take offense to this member's negative review.

From our very first contact with Tony of Deep Freeze, it was apparent that this is a company that tries harder. Tony spent over an hour with us, examined our old central air conditioning system inside and outside. He provided us with various options and the next day a written estimate, 10:30 at night, for the project we had discussed. When we inquired about the efficiency of a different system, he came out to our residence on a Sunday, bringing with him pertinent documents to assist us in reviewing our alternative plan. Once we made our decision, the project commenced in less than two weeks and took a day and a half to complete, during an ungodly heat wave. The technicians were careful not to damage anything during the installation (a rare occurrence) and did a terrific job cleaning up afterwards. All of the workmen associated with Deep Freeze: electricians, the duct specialist and ac installers were consummate professionals-- a prime example of how a company's tone is set from the top. This was also illustrated in all of our dealings with the Office Manager. Whether one left a message on the company's answering machine or placed an inquiry with the Office Manager, one could rely on a call back. We did a lot of research before making our decision regarding which contractor to select and are very happy with the results. We whole heartedly recommend Deep Freeze to anyone in the market for a fair-priced and professional air conditioning company. We, ourselves, intend on using them for our of our ac needs in the future.

In spite of a miserable heat wave, Tony came, as promised and spent what seemed like hours in my attic/crawl space - checking, rechecking, and diagnosing the problem with my upstairs A/C. air handler. The heat up there was unbearable, but he kept telling me "it's ok". He ordered the part, called me when it came in, and returned to complete the repair (another sweltering day). I've used Deep Freeze in the past (thanks to Angie's List), and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone seeking competent repairs. P.S. Deep Freeze repaired my 30+ year old downstairs compressor in July of 2011 - it's still working like a charm.
Description of Work: Repaired upstairs air handler - Traced bad circuit board - replaced. Two visits - did temporary repair while awaiting parts.

Horrible experience. Hired deep freeze to clean ducts as I have a 1 year old with severe allergies . Got the run around from owner and when I finally scheduled a day to have ducts cleaned no one showed and even worse no one called. Called office and didn'tt receive a call back. Finally was in touch and first told I didn't have an appointment than I was told technician that had my job was sick. Next day I was called by Anthony and he said" the truck broke down" . Lots of excuses. Anthony was suppose to call me in a week when " truck was fixed" but never heard from him. I finally got in touch with him and scheduled again, took another day off from work. Anthony showed but not with the truck to clean vents. His answer was he didn't know that was what he was here for. I was than told the truck was still not fixed. Ridiculous. I had at least 5 conversations about the deal I purchased through Angie's list so to use the excuse " I didn't know I was cleaning vents" is a joke. Don't use them they are scattered and have no clue how to run a business.

On June 14, 2013 I contacted deep freeze to come out to service and/or repair my central air conditioning unit. I was told that they had an opening for Monday, June 17th and I would be contacted prior to the technicians arrival. I gave my home phone and cell number so they would be assured of reaching me. At 5 P.M. on June 17th, I called the company to ask why they had not yet arrived. I was told that they might still be there and I would be contacted. Shortly thereafter, the owner contacted me to say that the worker who was scheduled for my service had injured himself and the owner himself would be coming to my home the next day to handle the work. While I was cordial and told him not to worry since unexpected events do occur, in my mind, I was wondering why I was not given the courtesy of a phone call since they knew this appointment was not going to happen. I asked when they would be arriving and I was assured that they would be at my house before 1 P.M. on the 18th of June. Well, as I sit writing this review, it is 4:15 P.M. on June 18th and once again, no one has come to service my a/c and there was no phone call what so ever. This is the second day in a row that this company has acted in a callous manner, totally disregarding human courtesy. I can only imagine what might happen if someone actually let Deep Freeze do work for them and then, after completing the job, they were needed to come back for additional service. If they act this way while trying to secure work, once they have your money, it is not a hard reach to think that a customer would never see them again. They lied to me several times. I am waiting to see how they spin this for a rebuttal. I have the time stamps on my phone when they called prior to this day and would love to be able to personally share how much this company disregards prospective clients. My next call is to the better business bureau. My advice is to seek a different company that is reputable!! Do not trust Deep Freeze!!!

Very unprofessional. They wasted my time.
Description of Work: I had set up an appointment, and they told me that they'd be coming sometime between 9 and 1 pm. I called the day of to see if they could give me a more specific time (as in the beginning or end of that time period) so I could step out for half an hour to do an errand. The woman said she couldn't, which is fine, but then THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. They didn't even bother to call to let us know, or to apologize, or to reschedule.

The work went well. Tony is very professional, polite and easy to work with. Tony examined the existing unit thoroughly and provided me with options in terms of fixing or replacing it. Despite the hot weather, he climbed into the attics to examine the blower and all the parts for the CAC in order to provide me with an accurate estimate.

l I pre-purchased an A/C Tune-Up though Angie's Big Deal. I received one call from Deep Freeze 48 hours later. I was promised a call within 24 hours according to the addvert. I called back twice. The first time I left a message and the second time I spoke to someone who said they didn't have the time to speak with me and they would call me back. I never hear from them again and as of this writing, almost a month has past. Last time I pre-pay for service. Now Angie's List wants me to fill out a form for a service I never received to get my money back. Seriously? Poor service by both the Deep Freeze and Angie's List.

A TRULY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE I feel very lucky to have found Tony, Pat and Deep Freeze. I spoke to Ellen on the phone and she was wonderful to talk to, and she is a very good listener, patient, and caring; that is what I felt like after my conversation with her. I feel that Deep Freeze really went out of their way to take care of me and my wife. Tony was very thorough with everything he did as far as the inspection and startup. He took the time and was patient to explain everything that he was going to do, and afterwards he gave me detailed steps as to what I can do to provide information for him to make a quicker diagnosis if I needed to contact him anytime if I noticed the central air seemed to not cool properely. He also said that if he did need to come for anything, he may not be able to come that day, and would make a concerted effort the following day, but he would make it a priority to get there as soon as he could. I totally understand this, and I believe Tony to be true to his word. First of all, someone like Tony and Deep Freeze must have calls constantly to get to and there are only so many good workers to do the job and only a limited number of hours in a day; and also with the way how bad traffic is these days it makes getting around that much more difficult. I think as customers we need to understand that and exercise some patience and be somewhat flexible. I also know that it is upsetting when someone does not show up when they are supposed to and does not care about the customer. But specifically to Tony and Deep Freeze I am very confident in them that they do try their very best and take a great interest in their customer. My impression was that Tony and Pat really cared about the work they do, and they want to make sure that they do it right and are very honest and good people, and are true professionals and very meticulous in their work. My wife and I have already recommended them to other family members. Deep Freeze is going to be my company for all of my central air needs from now on.

He had to reschedule and the work was done the next day and arrive a few minute late. He diagnose the problem and call me before any work had to be done, fix the problem within minutes, but it was more than I had expected. Overall his work was well done and the problem got fix. The only thing I did not like was that he had a service charge to come and see the work that need to be done, which was not listed on his info page.

Got the feeling they were not well organized. They called to set up an appointment when I already had one, and called to reschedule from a day when I didn't have an appointment. Took the afternoon off from work because I was given a window of 1pm-6pm. They came to my home at 7:30pm. In fairness, once here, it was a very thorough service that was performed.

Came for a tune-up for central A/C unit. Came within the time window I was told. Service was curteous and professional. The job was done in a timely manner...checked the blower, freon level, etc.. No problems were found with the A/C. I would use them if I had a problem down the line.

After purchasing the A/C tune up big deal, we tried to call the company and set up an appointment, but unable to do so for a couple of days. So we decided to cancel the big deal. The company responded to our complaints promptly and tried to reach out to us. Anthony scheduled an appointment for us for the next business day. He came in and did the work. We are updating our review now just to be fair to this business and give them credit for trying to reach out to us.

This member's claim is totally false. First of all, (Member name removed) called the office on Sat. 4/27/13 at 1:35pm and spoke directly to my receptionist (Ellen) who explained that someone would get back to her by Mon. morning to schedule an appointment. Tony called the member on Sun. 4/28/13 and left a message. Unfortunately, this turned into a game of "phone tag" and although we responded within the proper time frame, we never actually connected with the member. The next time I heard anything back from (Member name removed) was through this negative review. We can't always accomodate members immediately but we never ignore them.

Tony said the a/c units would be delivered on Wed and they would install the system on Thursday. Everything went as expected. Tony also recommended attic fans to help cool the attic and increase the efficiency of the a/c system. We can't afford to do that right now, but will ask Deep Freeze to come back when we complete our other home repairs following Super Storm Sandy.

My 13 year old central air conditioning compressor was damaged by Hurricane Sandy in the fall. This Spring I had Deep Freeze come to assess the damaged unit and evaluate the system. Tony examined the equipment and patiently explained my options to me. He did not try to pressure me into purchasing a new unit or system and told me the unit was still operational. After consultation with Tony, I decided to try and get one more season out of the 13 year old unit. Because I was impressed with Tony's honesty, knowledge and professionalism, I know who I will call when the time comes for replacement.
