TruGreen Lawn Care - 5030

Lawn looked good until we had an issue with crab grass. Quality in recent years has suffered immensely. You can not get anyone local when you call the TruGreen phone number. You speak with someone at another TruGreen location like New Hampshire, they indicate they will have someone from your local office call you back, and no one ever calls back. We have so much crab grass our front lawn looks terrible. I have had them out on several occasions to take care of the crab grass, so far no improvement.

The technician came at 8:30 AM and sprayed trees and shrubs. Problem is that our windows were all open, and he sprayed through the trees directly into the house, filling the entire house with noxious chemicals. This happened very quickly, before we realized he was even there. I confronted him and asked why he would spary into open windows, and why didn't he knock on the door to tell us to close them? His response: "Well, I thought it was too early to knock on the door." Unbelievable.

One Step is much better. We spent too much money with them. We canceled them.

They are very responsive when I call about having weeds in my yard. They come out and spray them individually if need be for no extra fee.

Initially, everything went well. I got an estimate based on my lawn size that seemed reasonable, and agreed to start service. Early in the season I began getting frequent calls, during the day, on my cell phone, from someone at the branch (I think it was John Marengo). One of the calls was to sell me the grub control service, which I wanted and added. The rest of the calls were to sell me various other Scotts/Ortho services which I didn't want. I thought the calls were intrusive and annoying, and I asked him to stop calling me with the solicitations for additional services. The caller became angry, and during the ensuing argument in which he asserted his "right" to make these calls, I attempted to quit the lawn service. He then agreed to stop calling me, and I remained with the service. Just for good measure, I removed my cell phone number from my account contact information online. I never received another call. After 5 lawn treatments, including grub control, I now have the best-looking front lawn, along with the worst-looking back lawn, I've ever had. I had a large area of persistent ground ivy in the front which has been completely eradicated, and for that I'm grateful. But I also have large bald areas in the back, where there had been grass at the start of the season. These bald areas emerged at the end of the season, and were noted in the technician's report at the last treatment. But the cause given in the report was "grub damage", and the recommendation was a grub control service, which is surprising given that I paid $227 for a grub control service a month before that. I did complain to the Scotts company, and they said they were willing to repair the back lawn, but I really didn't want any of those people doing anything more to my lawn. I would not recommend Scotts Lawn Service in Rochester.

I don’t like their service. The lawn looks terrible. I have weeds all through it that they haven’t been able to kill and now this winter I have mold. I had a grub killing application so that I don’t get mold and I have it all through the lawn. It is terrible. I spend $86 per application. They are very expensive. They are polite on the phone and say they are going to help me but they don’t seem to be able to. They come when I call but it doesn’t help. The girl on the phone is all about helping me and stuff and they do come out. Their punctuality is fine. I am not going to continue to use them.

They are alright. Nothing spectacular.

I was not happy with them but they said I just had to call and they would come back. I expected them to see the problems and fix them on the next visit, but I guess that isn’t the way they do business. They kept their scheduled appointments and I got all of the invoices and receipts. They guarantee their work, I guess I just have to nag them more about what I am looking for.

They are very good about informing me in advance that they are coming, because I have small dogs, and I want to make sure that my dogs aren’t in my backyard when they come; they have been very responsible about that. I pay about $50 a month. It has been raining here lately, so they did not come last month, and I liked that they were responsible in terms of not providing service under the circumstances, even though I am sure their revenue was affected at that time. I would use them again in the future.

The salesman was giving my neighbor an estimate and I asked for one for my trees and shrubs. I wanted them to treat my trees and shrubs. I have several arborvitae trees that are having problems. The salesman was very nice and gave me a price for my trees and shrubs as well as my lawn. He explained how the service worked and that the miracle grow fertilizer would be shot into the ground with a large needle for the root zone twice a year as well as insect control throughout the summer. After I looked into treating these issues myself I decided it was worth it to hire them, When I called, the price went up, apparently the salesman didn't count my trees so the price went up $14.30 a visit, $85.80 for the season. It was still reasonable, so I agreed. A few days later the technician came out, he told me that I wasn't getting miracle grow, that it he mixed the fertilizer up and that the dormant oil was basically baby oil. I was shocked, but it was Scotts,a brand name that I trusted. He also informed me that the rhododendrons that the sales man thought were ok and didn't need any treatment had insect damage and I needed to add it to be treated. Within a week, I had burnt, brown dead grass around the trees and shrubs he treated. There were large circles of dead grass if he shot it in the ground and large 4 inch wide rings around the trees that he applied it on top of the grass. I called and told the salesman that we needed to add the rhododendrons and that I had seen dead grass where the others had been treated. He said he would be out the next day, Saturday. The weekend came and went and no one came out to see the problem. I called the salesman Monday afternoon and was told that he couldn't come out because his boss told him not to and that a technician would come out. He would find out when and call me back. He didn't call back, I called him back and was told he didn't know when someone would be out. I canceled the service. In my eyes being a fertilizer service and you are killing grass would be a big deal and should have been a priority. I heard from the salesman at 9pm that night, that my lawn was burned and they would fix the dead areas. Two days later the franchise manager called me to find out what they could do to get me back. We spoke about a few of the issues and it was clear they would not be getting me back. I don't know if they will be fixing the damage to my lawn, it's been over a week since I first called and so far they have not.

They always show up. They're very polite and professional. Our lawn looks better than it has ever looked. People in our neighborhood have come up to us and asked us what we're doing differently with the yard. I believe we found this company through an ad. This is the first year we've used them. We have already signed up for summer 2011. They are a little pricey, but it's worth it. They show up every time. They have a schedule for when they will show up to do the various applications.

I was very disappointed with their service. On numerous occasions they just applied fertilizer when I had already stated that my major concern was for weeds. They are very difficult to get a hold of by phone. I had to make MANY attempts before I finally got through to someone. I then had to speak with several individuals before my issue was finally resolved.

I am always pleased with the work they do. I feel they are fair on their price as they are pretty comparable to other companies. They are always professional, on time and take great pride in their work. I would gladly refer their services to others.

Trugreen Chemlawn did a fine job for us. I know it worked because there are no weeds and our lawn looks green and beautiful. They are very responsive and come when we want them to. The people who came were very professional and courteous. The price is very fair as well.

This program normally costs between $300 and $400. Last year I had Simply Green Lawn Care and didn't like the results, so they followed up on their guarantee and I got this season free. They were bought out by Trugreen and the free service went with it. I'm even less pleased with the results this year. They come out as scheduled, calling ahead of time and follow up quickly with spot treatments between scheduled applications if called. But the results are not there. They seem to have watered down chemicals as the weeds are more plentiful than expected. I may try someone else next year.

While performing aeration & overseeding they tore-up a large section of lawn & caused damage to the surrounding landscaping. I called them 3 times and no one came to see much less repair it. This is in violation to their moneyback guarantee. I know of 2 neighbors with bad experiences with them, also.

We have been using Tru Green Chem Lawn for six years. They do an excellent job with the lawn. We would use them again in the future and refer them on to friends and family.

TruGreen ChemLawn have been working for me for three years. They do a great job and I will continue to use them. I would also recommend them.

I wouldnt hire TruGreen ChemLawn back in a million years. The first two years were good but then they got new ownership and it went downhill from there.

I call TruGreen ChemLawn every Spring and we decide what needs to be done. They provide me a schedule of the treatment dates. I have been hiring them for 20 years, and the lawn looks good. I haven't had a grub problem for years and when I do they take care of it.

TruGreen ChemLawn was terrible. They killed some of our trees and didnt take any responsibility. I knew it was them because the trees turned brown and died one day after a spraying.

My experience with TruGreen ChemLawn is very positive. Only once have I had a problem I had to call about. They came out and fixed the problem quickly. I was very happy.

Tru-Green ChemLawn did a really poor job at getting our lawn fertilized and taken care of. They kept calling and asking to upgrade and we did not want to upgrade.

We have used TruGreen ChemLawn for the past two years. Our yard is worse now than when they started coming. I am not pleased with the work they are doing and will not contract with them again.
